How to order a query, in design mode?

Hi,
I work with the bex 3.x and I need to know how can I order a query by a ratio/s in the design mode (with the query designer)?
Before running the query.
Can anybody help me?

How to suppress the back-ground execution of a query in design mode

hi guys,
there is a bahaviour of the system, that I'd like to change. So, when we
1. start EXCEL
2. go to the designer mode to create a report
3. first drop an InfoProvider (e query) into a cell,
4. second - pull e.g a filter element into another cell, still being in the design mode.
Just in this moment, the query itself has been already started in the back groud, aiming to fill the cache, I guess.
Does anyone know how to suppress the back-ground execution? I'd like to control, when to start the reports execution.

Hello,
There is no way to do that if you are creating thru BEx Analyzer.
Instead use the BEx Analyzer, try to create using directly BEx Query Designer.
In that way, the query will not be executed, until you want to...

How to order SQL query results in order given in IN Clause

Hi,
I Need to construct a query, which takes a string as input and results for those should be sorted in the order in which request was made.
Say, we have a couple of students, and the grades in different subjects to be the result of the query.
If John and Jane are the two students,
and if input is John,Jane
my output should be listing John, his subjects and grades
and then Jane, her subjects and grades.
I read somewhere in other posts, that i could use a query combined with regular expression to split a string into a temp table/array and use this as my input for my select query. Then use the rownum or level from this temp table to sort the data in order sent in.
But am not able to put together a query which would work for me.
Anyone with any pointers on this would be highly appreciated.

[This thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=702891&tstart=0] is about splitting up delimited lists. You'll want to keep the n-th value from the user-supplied list, as well as n itself, in a result set, so you can use it in both your WHERE- and your ORDER BY clause.
If you're using SQL*Plus, you can also keep the whole list in a substriution variable, and use INSTR to see where individual values appeard in that list. Personally, I'd trust the first method (split and store) more.

Restricting the Query Design Mode Toolbar in BEx

Hello,
Query Design Mode toolbar is available to Citrix users when using the BEx Analyser. THe client would like this switched off in the workbooks so users cannot see the make-up of the query. Does anyone one know who to carry this out?

Hi Hema,
To answer your question:
From query design toolbar, I do not see how you can see the make up of a query.
The design toolbar has been introduced to be able to make changes to the query as users need and save them for personal in Favorites or if they have authorization into roles.
As lomg as they do not have access to query designer, they cannot see make up of query.
There is no authorization to disable design toolbar.

Problem with query design mode?

hi friends,
how are you, i created query, i have customer and material and price&quantity.
i have some values corresponding objects.
i click design mode and inserted drop box for material , and again exit design mode, i got drop box with my material.
in drop mox i have 5 material. when i select material 3 the query is not showning values for material 3 . its showing all values . what can i do for this.

Judging from the error message, I'd suspect that IIS is trying to use some authentication service for the user. Are you using something like a "single sign-on" (Windows NT native authentication, NDS authentication, etc.?
As a test, you could try downloading the Oracle OLEDB driver to see if that solves the problem.
Unfortunately, nothing jumps out at me here as obviously wrong or an obvious path to getting this working.

first its all based on the design of the database, universe and the report.
at the universe Level, you have to check your Contexts very well to get the optimal performance of the universe and also your joins, keep your joins with key fields, will give you the best performance.
at the report level, try to make the reports dynamic as much as you can, (Parameters) and so on.
and when you create a paremeter try to get it match with the key fields in the database.

DS SDK: How to check if plugin is called in "design mode" or in browser?

Dear SDK experts,
I just created a simple world-/europe map plugin based on Datamaps (http://datamaps.github.io/) which works fine when the dashboard is executed in the browser but crashs, when I drag my plugin into the design area (maybe it's called different) of design studio. As I found no easy way to debug my created js code directly in design studio, is there is simple check so I can call the "real" plugin code only when my dashboard is executed in the browser and for example display only a static image when it's called inside design studio?
This check would also help a lot in my other plugins and I am sure, I already saw some coding somewhere -hopefully you remember where.

How do Design Mode Settings get Packaged?

Hi,
I've got a question about packaging a Site's Design Mode settings.
If I edit the Settings of a parsys in Design Mode (i.e. Anchors, or Allowed Components), where in the JCR do these settings get stored? How do I ensure they are packaged?

If you are setting for example allowed components for a parsys and you have assigned to your page some custom design (not default) all configurations are stored under:
/etc/designs/<name_of_design>/jcr:content/<name_of_template>/<name_of_parsys> in the components property

How does DW 8 display divs in "design Mode"?

Hi everyone,
Question: How does DW 8 display divs in the design window?
I ask this because I am trying to create a website entirely
in divs (with divs inside divs), and when I see certain things in
my "design mode", some divs show up directly underneath. Example: I
have #cellA and #cellB. I want #cellA right next to #cellB inside
of a #container. Instead, when I try to insert a Div tag (after end
of tag) it places it right underneath it. So #cellB is right under
#cellA, when all I want is for them to be side by side.

How do you guys look at how your divs are being displayed in
the "design view" of dreamweaver.
I have also just gone into the code and tried placing my divs
there, but to no avail..

If you want divs side-by-side, you must float them.

How to edit text in design mode - i.e get an I cursor instead of arrow

DW CS6 This is a very basic unclear on concept question. I normally work in code view and have no problems. Sometimes there is a large block of text within a paragraph which is in a div.
I would like to correct a simple typo or insert some more text directly from the design mode display. However, almost all the time, when I click on the spot I want to modify, the cursor remains an arrow and the entire div gets a yellow border. I still have the select arrow, not the vertical bar I need to edit.
Sometimes I seem to stumble onto the right set of clicks and get the edit bar.

Design View can get pretty cranky when your code has errors.
Check the validator at http://validator.w3.org and make sure you're working with clean code before resorting to wiping preferences, config folders or reinstalling.
If your code is clean and it's still not allowing you to click your text in Design View, you may have a z-indexing issue. I notice on pages that use a lot of positioning (APDivs) you can accidentally cover up your text boxes with blank/transparent areas of other elements and cause problems when trying to access that text at a later date.
It's all guesswork though without seeing your actual page.

Computed column and design mode

If I have a computed field in my ViewObject (the town-name returned by a stored procedure from the town-code), and I want to create a RowSetInfo object w/ the abovementioned view as QueryInfo.
In the queryInfo window if I select the source as this view, I cannot navigate to the Selection Order tab. The tab is active, but the definition is visible: http://195.228.152.68/~tib/query.gif
The expression for the townname is the following:
town_sp.to_name(Partner.towncode)
If I cannot use computed field like this, what can I do?

I have read about SWC and Library Projects and have tried it out, but I need some schema how to extend DataGrid. Which methods to override.
For example: Where should I add columns, how to add inspectable properties, like for example visible column1 or visible column2, and then how to refresh preview in Design Mode.
I'm searching for book about writing custom component with DataGrid example. Found one or two books on amazon, but nothing about DataGrid.
What I'm trying to do is to add Remote Object to my DataGrid that will pull some data from server and then it will populate it.
It is not so hard to do in standard application, but I want to try to do it inside a custom component.
Any samples will be cool

Authorization objects to avoid users to access workbook design mode

We use workbook protection but this disables most of the workbook properties.

How to prevent workbook users from saving workbooks
You must set up security to control who can save workbooks, where they can be saved, and which workbooks appear in the BEx Browser for a specific user.
Workbooks can also be created in the BEx Analyzer. After executing a query, choose Save u2192 Save as new workbook.
Securing Workbooks
In order to save a workbook, a user needs two authorization objects. The two objects listed below are the minimum authorizations a user needs to save workbooks.
S_GUI: Authorization for GUI activities
S_BDS_DS: Authorizations for document set
Using both S_GUI and S_BDS_DS will enable a user to save workbooks to their Favorites folder.
The authorization object S_GUI has one field, Activity. The activity field must be set to 60. For S_BDS_DS, the user needs activities 03 and 30. The Class Type field should be set to OT.
Saving Workbooks to Roles
If a user wants to save aworkbook to a location where it can be easily accessed by others, they need to save to a Role rather than saving the workbook in their own Favorites folder. Saving to a Role means saving to a security role.
You may want to set up roles specifically for saving workbooks. You can then assign the role to all parties who need to share workbooks.
Another option is to not allow users to save workbooks, but rather only allow power users to save workbooks. This is done to maintain the roles and to ensure that the workbooks are manageable. This also prevents users from changing workbooks saved by other users.
In order to save workbooks to roles, a user needs:
S_USER_AGR: Authorizations: Role check
S_USER_TCD: Transactions in roles
The authorization object S_USER_AGR has two fields:
Activity and Role Name.
Activity field -Must have at least values 01, 02 and If the user can delete workbooks, they will also need value 06.
Role Name, you should enter the specific roles you have created for saving
workbooks. Use proper naming convention for roles so that the roles can be restricted pretty easily. The role name is the name of a role that will be used to hold workbooks. Saving a workbook to a role actually updates the Menu portion of a role, so object S_USER_AGR is a required object.
Authorization object S_USER_TCD has one field
Transaction Code. The user needs value RRMX in this field.
Once a workbooks is saved, the data and the layout is saved in the workbook. For security reasons, we recommend that users save workbooks without the data. To save the workbook without the data, the users selects from following menu path from the BEx Analyzer: Tools > All queries in Workbooks > Delete results

I am new in BI 7.0. I am trying to insert a query in a workbook. but the tools button is not giving me the option to insert query like 3.X

1. Open BEx ANalyzer.
2. Create new excel workbook by hitting the "New" icon in Excel.
3. Logon to a backend BI system.
4. Click the design mode icon.
5. Put your mouse on a cell and insert a table.
6. Assign a dataprovider to this table.
7. Switch off design mode.
