Hi
To change the database you can use DataSource Option that is present in the Menu Bar.
Go to Database
->Set Datasource Location
->Replace the current Data Source with the new Datasource.

One application module with 3 differente data base connections

I have 3 different servers for data base connections. The main is "sys", the second "stanby" and the third: "bdbatch". In the old application,that i m re programating, uses a properties to read the connection. If the main is not available then goes to the stanby an then to the third. With this new application with adf i have to do the same. So how can i configure the application module to do this? do i have to make extra code? or just configure an xml file??

i faced this problem before in Dynamic JDBC Credentials topic solution provided by Steve Muench (to make your AM Databse Connection to be dynamic as you need).

Error in data base connection - Help me

In our application we are using jdbc:odbc:driver to connect with MSAccess database (.mdb), The data base is password protected,, when I run the application and access the database the user name, application path and the password is stored in the system registry automatically . The path where the details are stored is
I don’t know the reason behind this update in the registry, how can I remove the entry from the registry using java code.
Requirement:
The password should not be updated in the registry , how can I avoid this?
The sample code is

Thank you for your message.
Our application's feature set is defined by what we store in a table in the DB. Eg: 1 means premium version, 2 means basic version etc. The app is written and tested, and prior to shipment we only change this value.
It would take us too long to change the basic logic. One alternate we thought is to encrypt this number by multiplying it with a large prime.
Is there some other way in which we can protect the user name / password ?

To replicate data you can ude Database Gateway for ODBC or Database Gatewy for MS SQl Server. Please use the search engine of this forum if you ant to get more details about each product.
Some SQl Servers are set up to use Windows authentication only. In this case you won't be able to connect to the SQL Server as Windows authentication isn't supported with the gateways. You have to make sure your SQL server is supporting username and password authentication - a common user is the "sa" user. Regarding the username/password, please get in touch with your SQL Server Admin.

There is a very useful function module available for your requirement:
<b>RS_PROGRAM_TABLES</b>
Call this function module using:
OBJECT_TYPE = 'TRAN' " transaction
OBJECT_NAME = 'VA01'
" PROGRAM -> not required
MONITOR_ACTIVATE = 'X'
The function module will list you all DB tables touched by the transaction and shows whether they are read or updated (unfortunately, on ECC 5.0 this seems to be no longer the case. All tables are displayed as READ).

How to Read data base table at runtime

Hi,
i have an internal table with two fields they are
   tablename and field name.
itab has some entries.
like :
itab-table name   itab-fieldname
kna1              kunnr
mara              matnr
vbuk              vbeln
tvak              auart
i want to read these tables with field names.
like :

   select singe * from <itab-tablename> into <jtab>
      where <itab-fieldname > = <dyanmic value from       prog>.

Is it possible to read the db table in the above scenario.

I created universe U_universe using A_Database. It is working fine
Now I would like to change from A_Database to B_Database in U_universe without affecting any thing in U_universe because tables and data are same.

In Designer, import your universe, click on File>Paramers or click on parameters icon on the tool bar and change connection used by the universe from one pointing to Universe A to one pointed to universe B.

Umesh - in order to build Answers and Dashboard content you must first setup a Physical model, then a Business model, followed by a Presentation Catalog/Subject Area.
All these tasks are carried out using the Repository Administration Utility.
1) Import your physical tables using OCI/ODBC into the physical layer.
2) Build your model
3) Deploy
Then you're ready to start building answers/dashboards.

Migrate existing data base to oracle 10g and cluster it

we are currently using sql server 2000 and due to some servere dead locks in the application and due to some load issues we wanted to migrate it to oracle 10g.
At the same time we wanted to have clustered environment in the same server
That is windows server.
Can any one suggest how migration can be done..easily ie..by oracle migration work bench or what...
At the same time can any one suggest how to cluster data base in windows server

This is re-engineering from one database platform to another.
You will have to take into consideration several aspects of your application, from SQL comptability to the application performance (SQL) in the Oracle environment.
There is no magic to this puzzle, the amount of task involved in moving from one database to another depends on complixity of the application and how many database operations will have to be changed. I would suggest /recommend that you should start with a POC on a specific module /area (probably the most complex) of your application and this should give you some idea in the efforts of doing so.
