How to place index.html at root level

I've published my website using iweb and published it on me.com. I did the other steps for the CNAME etc.
I'm trying to set up my website so I don't have to type www before domain name. It works fine with it but without it, the page appears which says in effect that it's under construction probably from the domain registrar I'm guessing.
I feel stupid asking this but I tried dragging the index.html file to the sites folder and only a copy appeared. It didn't work when I checked url.
Also, if I create the index.html which redirects to the homepage, where do I find the code to change it? Can someone give me directions? Thanks for your help.

This has nothing to do with index files and you don't need to do anything with it - you are making all more complex than it actually is or needs to be.
Whether you get to your site using the www or not is purely a CNAME forwarding issue and you domain name registrar is where you need to fix this.
Go to the DNS settings at your registrar, where I assume you went when first setting up forwarding? All registrars are different, but with some you need to delete the A records that are there already and set up CNAME. What you would need to do is set up 2 CNAME's, one for the www and one for @.
@ represents your domain name on its own, so http://domain.com. Set this up as @, CNAME web.me.com.
www represents your sub-domain, so http://www.domain.com. Set this up as www, CNAME web.me.com and then people should then be able to get to your url by using either domain.com or www.domain.com.
There is no need to set up any kind of forwarding or fiddle around with your index file. Simply change your CNAME forwarding and it should work.

  • How to utilize index in selection statement

    hi
how to utilize index in selection statement and how is it reduces performance whether another alternative is there to reduce performance .
    thanks

    Hi Suresh,
For each SQL statement, the database optimizer determines the strategy for accessing data records. Access can be with database indexes (index access), or without database indexes (full table scan). The cost-based database optimizer determines the access strategy on the basis of:
*Conditions in the WHERE clause of the SQL statement
*Database indexes of the table(s) affected
*Selectivity of the table fields contained in the database indexes
    *Size of the table(s) affected
*The table and index statistics supply information about the selectivity of table fields, the selectivity of combinations of table fields, and table size.     Before a database access is performed, the database optimizer cannot calculate the exact cost of a database access. It uses the information described above to estimate the cost of the database access. The optimization calculation is the amount by which the data blocks to be read (logical read accesses) can be reduced. Data blocks show the level of detail in which data is written to the hard disk or read from the hard disk.
    <b>Inroduction to Database Indexes</b>
When you create a database table in the ABAP Dictionary, you must specify the combination of fields that enable an entry within the table to be clearly identified. Position these fields at the top of the table field list, and define them as key fields.
After activating the table, an index is created (for Oracle, Informix, DB2) that consists of all key fields. This index is called a primary index. The primary index is unique by definition. As well as the primary index, you can define one or more secondary indexes for a table in the ABAP Dictionary, and create them on the database. Secondary indexes can be unique or non-unique. Index records and table records are organized in data blocks.
If you dispatch an SQL statement from an ABAP program to the database, the program searches for the data records requested either in the database table itself (full table scan) or by using an index (index unique scan or index range scan). If all fields requested are found in the index using an index scan, the table records do not need to be accessed.
A data block shows the level of detail in which data is written to the hard disk or read from the hard disk. Data blocks may contain multiple data records, but a single data record may be spread across several data blocks.
Data blocks can be index blocks or table blocks. The database organizes the index blocks in the form of a multi-level B* tree. There is a single index block at root level, which contains pointers to the index blocks at branch level. The branch blocks contain either some of the index fields and pointers to index blocks at leaf level, or all index fields and a pointer to the table records organized in table blocks. The index blocks at leaf level contain all index fields and pointers to the table records from the table blocks.
The pointer that identifies one or more table records has a specific name. It is called, for example, ROWID for Oracle databases. The ROWID consists of the number of the database file, the number of the table block, and the row number within the table block.
The index records are stored in the index tree and sorted according to index field. This enables accelerated access using the index. The table records in the table blocks are not sorted.
An index should not consist of too many fields. Having a few very selective fields increases the chance of reusability, and reduces the chance of the database optimizer selecting an unsuitable access path.
    <b>Index Unique Scan</b>
If, for all fields in a unique index (primary index or unique secondary index), WHERE conditions are specified with '=' in the WHERE clause, the database optimizer selects the access strategy index unique scan.
For the index unique scan access strategy, the database usually needs to read a maximum of four data blocks (three index blocks and one table block) to access the table record.
    <b><i>select * from VVBAK here vbeln = '00123' ......end select.</i></b>
In the SELECT statement shown above, the table VVBAK is accessed. The fields MANDT and VBELN form the primary key, and are specified with '=' in the WHERE clause. The database optimizer therefore selects the index unique scan access strategy, and only needs to read four data blocks to find the table record requested.
    <b>Index Range Scan</b>
    <b><i>select * from VVBAP here vbeln = '00123' ......end select.</i></b>
In the example above, not all fields in the primary index of the table VVBAP (key fields MANDT, VBELN, POSNR) are specified with '=' in the WHERE clause. The database optimizer checks a range of index records and deduces the table records from these index records. This access strategy is called an index range scan.
To execute the SQL statement, the DBMS first reads a root block (1) and a branch block (2). The branch block contains pointers to two leaf blocks (3 and 4). In order to find the index records that fulfill the criteria in the WHERE clause of the SQL statement, the DBMS searches through these leaf blocks sequentially. The index records found point to the table records within the table blocks (5 and 6).
If index records from different index blocks point to the same table block, this table block must be read more than once. In the example above, an index record from index block 3 and an index record from index block 4 point to table records in table block 5. This table block must therefore be read twice. In total, seven data blocks (four index blocks and three table blocks) are read.
The index search string is determined by the concatenation of the WHERE conditions for the fields contained in the index. To ensure that as few index blocks as possible are checked, the index search string should be specified starting from the left, without placeholders ('_' or %). Because the index is stored and sorted according to the index fields, a connected range of index records can be checked, and fewer index blocks need to be read.
All index blocks and table blocks read during an index range scan are stored in the data buffer at the top of a LRU (least recently used) list. This can lead to many other data blocks being forced out of the data buffer. Consequently, more physical read accesses become necessary when other SQL statements are executed
    <b>DB Indexex :Concatenation</b>
In the concatenation access strategy, one index is reused. Therefore, various index search strings also exist. An index unique scan or an index range scan can be performed for the various index search strings. Duplicate entries in the results set are filtered out when the search results are concatenated.
    <i><b>Select * from vvbap where vbeln in ('00123', '00133', '00134').
    endselect.</b></i>
In the SQL statement above, a WHERE condition with an IN operation is specified over field VBELN. The fields MANDT and VBELN are shown on the left of the primary index. Various index search strings are created, and an index range scan is performed over the primary index for each index search string. Finally, the result is concatenated.
    <b>Full Table Scan</b>
    <b><i>select * from vvbap where matnr = '00015'.
    endselect</i></b>
If the database optimizer selects the full table scan access strategy, the table is read sequentially. Index blocks do not need to be read.
For a full table scan, the read table blocks are added to the end of an LRU list. Therefore, no data blocks are forced out of the data buffer. As a result, in order to process a full table scan, comparatively little memory space is required within the data buffer.
The full table scan access strategy is very effective if a large part of a table (for example, 5% of all table records) needs to be read. In the example above, a full table scan is more efficient than access using the primary index.
    <i><b>In Brief</b></i>
<i>Index unique scan:</i> The index selected is unique (primary index or unique secondary index) and fully specified. One or no table record is returned. This type of access is very effective, because a maximum of four data blocks needs to be read.
<i>Index range scan:</i> The index selected is unique or non-unique. For a non-unique index, this means that not all index fields are specified in the WHERE clause. A range of the index is read and checked. An index range scan may not be as effective as a full table scan. The table records returned can range from none to all.
<i>Full table scan:</i> The whole table is read sequentially. Each table block is read once. Since no index is used, no index blocks are read. The table records returned can range from none to all.
<i>Concatenation:</i> An index is used more than once. Various areas of the index are read and checked. To ensure that the application receives each table record only once, the search results are concatenated to eliminate duplicate entries. The table records returned can range from none to all.

  • Typing at Root Level KONV-KAWRT

How do you TYPE at the root level for a given field?
For example, take field KONV-KAWRT which points to data element, KAWRT, which points to domain, WERTV8, which is type CURR 15 characters, decimals 2.
Now, suppose (_and I know you wouldn't normally do this)_ you wanted to make a variable that matched KONV-KAWRT without referencing the data element
You can query table DD03L providing KONV as table and KAWRT as field and see various fields values like:
    INTTYPE = P
    INTLEN = 8
    LENG = 15
    DECIMALS = 2
By this, you'd think this is the correct declaration:
    DATA:  LV_VAL(8) TYPE P DECIMALS 2.
But alas, this is not correct.... PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR IDEAS.  THANKS.

Didn't do root level; just found similar data elements for typing.

  • Two WP themes in Dwvr -root level index.php issues

If someone could point me in the right direction. I had been editing a wordpress theme based on Brian Wood's tutorial. Now I set up a new Dwvr site and want to edit a different theme, but the root- level index.php and the theme level index.php or that custom home.php still reflect the old theme when I try to view it at //localhost. I have WordPress installed in my root-level folder. Do I need to change the file structure, or is this a database configuration issue? Thank you.

I understand child themes as an extention of a stylesheet. It's the div structure, and the ability to manipulate divs that just isn't clear in WordPress. If I'm not mistaken, it seems that templates are more or less includes, and that there is overlap between them, and the div architecture throughout the entire theme. The tutorial link from Nancy is newer to me, in terms of applying thematics, I'll have to look at it in greater detail some other time. Is the tutorial: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_wordpress_pt1.html just very outdated? I like doing things in Dreamweaver, if I can, just for fun.
Update: So a child theme can manipulate the structure of a theme, but generally within the limitations of that theme. For example, the twenty-twelve theme allows for a number of columns, which I can manipulate based on my choice, and the child theme. I am guessing it would be ludicrous to do something completely different from the general structure of that theme though. In that case I would look for a theme similar to what my end goal is, or then I would have to be an expert. Still wondering about that Adobe tut. though.

  • How to place a link to a .crt file in the HTML code?

    Hello,
I followed the 10 famous steps for the creation of a self-signed applet. My problem is at step 10:
"Place a link to the .crt file (created in step 4) in the HTML-File.
This .crt file has to be opened by the browser and has to be set to
    trusted,
as the root CA for testing is not known to the browser."
I do not know how to modify the HTML code.
Here is a simplified version of my file without the HTML converter facility
    <APPLET CODE = "mydirectory.MyApplet" ARCHIVE="tst.jar" width=960 height=580>
    </APPLET>
The archive tst.jar was signed following the procedure of the 10 steps without problems. My trouble is that I cannot write a file in my hard disk.

  • How can I reopen an index.html saved to iDisk?

    Hi there,
I created a personal site on a Powerbook laptop in iWeb a year or so ago and published it through my .mac account. It was great and I updated it on a fairly regular basis. Then my existing laptop died of old aged and I replaced it with a new MacBook Pro. I have located the original index.html in the appropriate "Sites" folder under the iDisk icon on my "new" desktop but it won't reopen the files in iWeb. (I'm just dragging and dropping it onto the iWeb icon.) Am I doing something wrong or can a web site created in iWeb only be changed on the Mac that first created it? I'm guessing (and hoping) that this isn't the case but I'm at a loss as to what to do. Please help.

Ian ~ Welcome to the discussions. A web site created in iWeb can be changed on a Mac other than the one which first created it. But only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • How can I have a default servlet and an index.html?

    Hi,
I writing a small webapp to test/understand the 2.2 Servlet Spec. I am deploying this as a WAR to Orion, Tomcat and Silverstream.
    The app's name is: "myapp"
My application has an index.html, which is listed as the sole welcome-file in the welcome-file-list element in the app's web.xml.
The interesting thing is that, after adding a default Servlet (<url-pattern>/</url-pattern>), I can no longer access the app's index.html either implicitly or explicitly:
    1. Implicit:
    2. Explicit:
All of these invoke the Default Servlet in all 3 app servers.
Question: How can I have both a default Servlet and an index page?
    Thanks in advance.

you can define it in the web.xml file

  • How do I bring sub files and folders back to "Root Level?"

    Hi Everybody,
I have a frustrating situation.. Time Machine wouldn't work on my iMac that was dying, so the only thing i could do is use Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to back it up. However, I did this wrong.
With CCC, you are supposed to have created a GUID partition on a bootable external HD and backed up your Mac HD to that, so everything is at the Root Level, ie. /Application /Library /System /Users and all the other folders and invisibles ie. .usr .var .tmp ... then you can boot off this external HD and reinstall your system.
I did not know any of this, i thought CCC was like Time Machine, so I just made another folder on my External HD that was labeled "CCC Weekly Backup". Its in an exact replica of my HD, it is just not at "Root Level".
It is on my External HD "Erik 2012 Home" then inside a folder called "CCC Weeky Backup."
How can I move it, so that it isn't in the folder "CCC Weekly Backup"?? and just inside External HD "Erik 2012 Home" ??
Every time I do this with CCC, it just keeps putting my files inside that "CCC Weekly Backup" I can't just copy them to the "Erik 2012 Home" cause I don't know how to select the invisibles. Even when I just select my Application Folder and .var .tmp /Library it *always* puts them in a folder "CCC Weekly Backup".
ANy help would be appreciated. Our daughter was born in July and all her pics and videos are on there cause I started using CCC in June, cause my Time Machine stopped working then. So all of June, July and Aug. are in these CCC Backups I can't restore
Thanks so much, as always you guys are the best here!

How to add an extra page to the index.html page on dreamweaver CS6?

Index.html = your domain's home page.  There is only one home page per site.
To create a new page from your index, go to File > SaveAs > filename.html.  Repeat for other site pages.  Add links on your index page that lead to other site pages.

  • How i upload a web page named index.html generated by NI Web UI Builder in thin client application on world wide Web

    Hello All,
I have an example which use simulated signal with its web service generated by LabVIEW. Then an application of this web service was created using NI web UI builder. And application was build and deployed on NI Cloud Portal, a zip file was downloaded of that project  after build and deploying application.
The downloaded file contain a thin client application like :index.html page, readme file etc.
Now problems is this index.html runs easily on http://localhost:8080/appname/index.html or on my computer name like
http://iaa42:8080/appname/index.html web page runs and shows updated values in indicators and graphs  but when i use ip address of my system like http://192.168.1.6:8080/appname/index.html , index.html runs but the values in indicator and graphs remains 0 (zero) constantly.     how can i get all indicators and graphs updating continously on by using my ip address like same when i use localhost or computer name in url bar.    1st problem is this.
    Now 2nd question.
I get a page index.html in a zip file built by NI web UI builder now i want this page to be viewed by every one world wide
where should i upload that code. Should NI Cloud Portal be my hosting server for that web page ? or i have to purchase a domain other than NI cloud portal?
     Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Waqas

    Hi Waqas,
For your first question, my first thoughts turn to your router (which I assume you are using with a 192.168.x.x address). Are you sure you are configuring your ports and firewalls to allow NI services to function? Here is a really good resource on how to check if your ports and firewalls are configured properly:
    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/12402/en/
For your second question, when you deploy a web service you are hosting it on your local machine. If you wanted to host it elsewhere (i.e. another server or another domain) you would have to be sure that the server hosting your application has the LabVIEW run-time engine installed.

    Hi
Ive just upgraded to CS5 and am a bit lost!!
    1st Problem
I updated our website design (which was previously designed in fireworks using CS3) using Fireworks CS5 and exported the images etc as html and loaded into the website folder.... however now Im in dreamweaver and ive tried centring the page, but when I go into live view, its aligned on the left....
My method.... I open the page, I select the 'table' then in the property box, under Align, i click 'Centre'.  This was how i centred in the older version.
    2nd Problem
Where do you set the homepage??  In the version ive been using up until recently, in the 'Local view' file manager (on the right) i would simply highlight the 'index.html' page, then right-click and select 'set as homepage'..... that seems to have disappeared in the newer version.  How do I do this now???
All help is very much appreciated!
