You will likely need to write a custom
MediaStreamSource that can access the media stream and parse it. Windows Phone supports h.264 natively and as long as the site serves up a media stream that contains h.264 frames you can parse it and have our built in decoder decode and display it. You
will need to have intimate knowledge of the streaming protocol used by the website that you are trying to play. You must also make sure that the website is not using protected content. IANAL so I would recommend that you have your local law professional
(lawyer) review the licensing of the website that you are attempting to connect to and stream from before continuing your development. Your lawyer can make sure make sure their licensing allows you to do this.

i aim to create a flex mobile application for iOS platform，which will play videos of streaming form.
as i kown,only Http Live Streaming(HLS) is supported on iOS, then how to realize the playball of video of HLS form?
if i have a valid m3u8 playlist url,how to play it in my flex mobile application?can anybody help or give me some advices?

GRag and Mesh are correct. You cannot use Flex to access a file on a user's hard drive, which is where your path is pointing.
Instead, create a folder within your Flex project, under the "src" folder (example: src/assets/videos), and put the SWF there. Change the path in your code to point to the new location, like "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf". Note that you don't refer to the src folder; it is the "root" of your application, and when you deploy all your files to your web server, you will be copying the folders you created to the root folder of your web server. So, all the paths will remain consistent. Flex will attempt to find "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf", starting from the "root", or location, of the application itself.

How to play live streaming video which is being streamed via http or rtsp

I am building an application which needs to display live mpeg2 video; the source of the live stream is over e network, e.g,http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080.
To see if QT had this capability, In QT for Open URL, I tried, rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080 and http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8080, but I am not able to see any video. (I tried setting my QT options per posts I have read)
Also, I'm able to see the live stream using Windows Media Player and VLC. (I used VLC to stream the video over the network and I tried streaming several formats but still could not see video in QT; when using rtsp, status of QT says negoiating and never transition from this state)
Any advice on this topic?

QuickTime will not play MPEG-2 content, streaming or otherwise, without the addition of the extra-cost MPEG-2 Playback Component. Even with that component, QuickTime cannot play all MPEG-2 streams. Read the FAQ carefully for details.

How to play broadwave.asx streams

Okay, I found out how to play *.m3u streams.
If one does not have it, get it there, Nokia Internet Radio
http://europe.nokia.com/internetradio
Now, manually download the *.m3u file, it is a file, that contains the actual address of the stream, in the case of
http://www.dradio.de/streaming/dlf.m3u
The actual address is
http://dradio-mp3.t-bn.de/dlf128k_live
It is contained in the dlf.m3u file and this is the address one has to enter manually in Nokia Internet Radio!

Playing HLS stream using OSMF in Air for IOS

Is there any sample app (source) that shows how to play HLS streams using AIR for IOS, that the OSMF team can make available?

The conclusiver answer is that there are only 2 ways to display H264 video in AIR for IOS

I can play the streams going to radiocrazy.ch or somafm.com and then opening them with VLC.

How to play a FLV file located in a second FMS not directly accessible by the flash client?
- I am publishing an audio stream from the flash client to a FMS;
- This FMS then publishes the stream to a second FMS, which records the stream to a FLV;
How can I play in the client the FLV audio file that I recorded in the second FMS?
- The first FMS is accessible by the flash client, but the second FMS is only accessible by the first FMS.

How to play the fms output on external player (linke VLC/mplayer)

Hi,
I am encoding some stream on FMLE, and sending to FMS on different machine.
FMS is receiving the stream through " http://localhost" -> INTERACTIVE -> LIve stream play
Parameters are, SERVER:rtmp://live, STREAM: livestream.
Now how do i take this out? How can i play this stream from outside network ? i.e if i want to play this stream on a external player like VLC Player using http instead of rtmp what are the modification to be done on FMS side?,
or with mplayer, or with rtmpdump (this is free utility to play rtmp streams), what is the actual url to be constructed?
I have tried
http://192.168.1.12/live/livestream
rtmp://192.168.1.12/live/livestream

First of all, i am not a lechie guy. I have no clue on coding things. All i want is to setup,
FMLE-> FMS, get one URL out of FMS, give it to my clients.
I thought i can use http, but looks like rtmp is fine.
Now, in local player, ( http://lolcalhost/ -> Interactive -> Live stream, window, SERVER: rtmp://live, STREAM: livestream ), and the encoded one is playing fine.
Which means rtmp://MYPUBLICIP/live/livestream should also work fine right? It is not, Earlier, when i used rtmpdump (http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-stream/rtmpdump-freeware-console-RTMP-download ing-application.htm) it was giving "Stream not found".
But now it is saying "Unable to connect to Socket", it triesto conect port 1935, and it is not blocked on my windows FMS (netstat showed port is opened).
I am really stuck here.
Please share your thoughts.

How to play .wmv file with a MSS1 stream encoded?

I found a bunch of old tutorials on my HD and tried to play them. QT gave me an error message about not having a codec. VLC also couldn't play them. I was able to open the files in QT and do a 'get info'. That's where I found the MSS1 info. Anyone have any ideas about this one?

Interesting, but any idea how to play them w/in QT?
Believe it would take a 5-8 year old player (WMV or third-party) to support the WMV 7 Screen format. My WMV experience doesn't go back that far so I am not even sure it was ever supported on the Mac. Believe Flip4Mac assumed support of WMV four years after the codec was initially released and it doesn't list MSS1 as being supported at this time. Would probably be easier to see if any old Windows users might have a compatible application and convert the files on the Windows machine.

Playing published streams through an administrator connection? (:1111)

Hi all,
I am building a custom administration application which has to review streams published to our FMS application. This is to ban clients publishing inappropriate content. I am wondering if I have to make a connection to the application, as normal users do, in order to play the published streams? I am getting the list of streams using another connection, to rtmp://domain:1111/admin, like outlined in Administration API, and issuing the 'getLiveStreams' call.
The reason I am asking is because firstly, I remember that the Administration Console can play streams published to the server, but I don't recall it incrementing the connection count which shows amount of user clients connected to an application. Maybe I have missed however, but if I am right and it indeed can play streams without connecting to the application (which actually DOES sound a bit unlikely, given how the stream names are local to an app.), then maybe I can do it too? Secondly, I presently have to differentiate users and administrators in my 'onConnect' script, because are perform completely different roles. If I could relieve my admin. app from connecting to the application, I could also dump the role switching.
I am not sure what is the best thing to do here, frankly...

I am not sure how your linked post should help me. I have no problem connecting as an administrator to our own service.
My question is can I play streams through this administrator connection on port 1111, or like now, I have to keep a separate connection to the application in order to play application's streams?
I do NOT want to connect to the application, because I then am forced to become one of its "users", even though I am not - I am an admin. Even though I have implemented roles with my application server side script, whereas users connect with a bunch of parameters, I can connect with another role - as an admin, without parameters (because they do not apply to me since I only use the service for playing streams). Another reason is actually pretty annoying - even though I explicitly specify video sample access permission for both myself and any user that connects (in order to be able to take snapshots of the videos) using the "videoSampleAccess = '/'" expression, occasionally I STILL get security errors. I imagine if I somehow can bypass the security altogether. After all it is our server, and our users know that we need to monitor for unsuitable content. FMS makes it pretty hard to do so with the error listed above. The error is sporadic.
So I will ask again - can I play any stream I want of any application on my server, without connecting to the application instance as a regular user bound to security rules? I need some form of video administration, and I am NOT using Administration console, but a custom admin. application which does more than Admin console does, in particular kick out bad people.

How to reduce the Stream.publish latency

I 'm now working on a video charting project, one side is in a BW limited network, the other is in a BW unlimited network, when the limit reduce to 450Kbit/s, the side under limited network result to 2KB/s on publish netstream, but play stream is OK，I calculate the BW for update and download, both 40KB-50KB ,what's wrong with that??
What can I do to increase the speed of publishing!

Obviously, the larger your packet frame over RTMP to FMS will take longer to initially package and cache the video, thus when clients play a live stream the delay will be dictated by how quick the FMS server packages the initial 4 second, 8 second, 12 second, 16 second. Usualy by 16 seconds, the live stream is playable. I have not found a way, such as like with 'ffmpeg -re' realtime encoding, to enable this feature on FMS, or if it can be manipulated through service side action script main.asc.
Let me know if you do figure a way after packaging, that FMS can close the gap on the cache, to reduce the latency from publish to live client.

I just updated my iPhone 4 and now can't figure out how to play music or videos on my apple tv

iPhone 4 can AirPlay audio just fine, I'd forgotten that it can't do screen mirroring. It's been so long since I had my iPhone 4 but I'm certain that some apps will allow video output over AirPlay (which is not the same as screen mirroring). The stock iOS Photo and Video apps could stream pictures and video to ATV, but true mirroring of everything you see on the screen is not supported on iPhone 4. It isn't iOS 7 that took away this capability, it is a capability that has always been limited with iPhone 4 (and earlier).
If you are sure that your old 3G can output video over AirPlay, which specific apps? Those same apps should work on the iPhone 4, even with iOS 7.
