How to prepare FI-GL for Consolidation in SEM BCS

Hello together,
can somebody tell me in a few steps how to activate the FI-GL (0FI_GL_6) that it can be used for consolidation in SEM BCS. My problem is that FI_GL_6 (and also FIGL_C10 for new FI-GL) have not all required fields for consolidation in SEM BCS, especially movement type is missing.
I know how to use the BCS data collection functionality "load of data stream" and I also know how to activate the BI Content for FI (and how to connect the data basis from BCS with the "FI Cube" via source data basis).
But how can I prepare the FI Cube (DataSource, InfoSource) that it concludes all neccessary informations?
Thanks for support.

we consolidate on the BSEG tables for actuals and GLPCP for plan data, it all depends on your business requirements, if you feel that the details out of GL_6 is insufficient find out the tables that bring the needed information and build a custom data source, but my guess is that the content datasrc's should solve the issue in most cases.

  • Preparation for Consolidation in SEM-BCS.

    Hello All,
I’m implementing SEM - BCS (BW-based). I have the following versions:
    - R/3: SAP ECC 6.0
    - BW: 7.0
    - SEM: 6.0
What do I have to customize in R/3 in order to extract the correct data to BW?
Do I have to do all the customization in transaction SPRO (Enterprise Controlling -> Integration: Preparation for Consolidation)?
I know that I have to create the companies and assign them to the company codes. I also have to create group chart of accounts and assign it to the transactional chart of accounts.
Can I do this in the account master data or do I have to have a Financial Statement Version for the Group?
Is it necessary to maintain Transaction Types for Consolidation?
Do I have to customize the Consolidation Staging Ledger and extract the data from here to BW?
I think I have to customize all this, but because all this transactions are in EC-CS customizing and I want to implement SEM - BCS (in BW), I’m not sure if this is the right path.
    Can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Helena

    GANSHA,
what you are telling me is:
    - I don´t have to do the customization in ECC. The only thing I have to do is, identify the tables and extract the data I need to BW.
But this way, how does the system know, which postings are from group companies or not?
The company code in R/3 is equivalent to company (consolidation unit role) in BCS. The Group companies are created in BCS and the companies in BCS are under those group companies.
If I were you, I would check whether Fiscal Year Variant is same across all company codes in R/3. I would also check whether parallel currencies are activated or not. Non-activation of parallel currency is not issue, but I will try to understand what are all the currencies involved and the currency translation flow.
I have created the companies in ECC in order to fill the "Trading Partner" field in the master data ( vendor, customer and G/L accounts) and to use on FI postings.
Yes, you have taken the right steps.
I have created the transaction types in ECC in order to use them on FI postings.
None of this is necessary? I don’t have all the company codes in SAP, some of the data will be uploaded to BW by file.
The transaction types in ECC are different from the transaction types (also known as Movement Types) in BCS. You will continue to maintain the FI transaction types.
Regarding the chart of accounts, I don’t have a group chart of accounts. For what I understand there’s two ways:
    - creating a group chart of accounts in ECC and in BW will be available as part of the GL account master data
    or
    - creating Financial statement items for consolidation in ECC, Build a Financial Statement Version for the Group (linking the operational chart of accounts to the consolidation items).
I think, this is the only way for me to use the consolidation staging ledger (totals table GLT3)? Or am I wrong?
What you are telling me is that I don’t have to do this in ECC, but in BCS customizing?
I’m confused ... please help me!!!
    Helena
In your ECC, whether GLT3 table is activated? In many clients' companies, GLT3 table is not activated. The GL totals data is available in BSEG table.
If you do not have Group COA/ Group GL accounts maintained now, there are many ways to get GL totals data with Group GL level info added. You have already mentioned the steps.
One more method is create a custom mapping table of Operational GL accounts with Group GL accounts outside R/3 (to be maintained as part of BW) and make your R/3 GL totals data to flow thru this table, so that the final data in BW is available in both operational GL accounts and Group GL accounts. Developers will be able to help you.

  • HOW TO PREPARE TECH SPEC FOR OOPS PROGRAM

    Hi..
This is Sri .I Created a Report program in oops. can any one help how to prepare tech spec for this oops report,,can i need to mention Classes ,Methods, ref-classes,screens in preparation of Spec..
Thanks in advance..I surly reward with points if my prob is solved,,,,,,
    SRI

    Hi Sri,
Tech Spec is nothing but a document containing some technical information about
the object you have developed/coded. Normally this should be prepared before you code and not the other way round.
You should mention relevant classes created / used. If you have created / added some class components like attributes/methods/events/interfaces mention that too.
You can also mention functionality to be coded in methods of the class. Please understand it is not a replica of your program but some useful technical info that the coder will use to code and later people will use for maintainance purpose.
It is better if you have some defined template for the tech spec, else just put the info in a structured and readable manner.

  • SAP BPC Consolidations vs SEM-BCS

    Hi all,
Has anyone compared the features/functionalities of SAP BPC Consolidation with SEM-BCS consolidation? What are the advantages of BPC Consolidation  over SEM-BCS, and vice-versa? For a brand new implementation, what is the preferred tool?
    Thanks,
    Sujoy Banerjee

    Hi Sujoy,
In general if you are starting out with a new implementation, BPC is the recommended solution for several reasons:
    1) It's a unified solution offering both Consolidations and Planning
    2) It's designed to be owned and managed by business users, not IT
    3) It's integrated with the Enterprise Performance Management for Finance suite, which also includes profitability and strategy management
If however you need support for complex consolidation scenarios, such as legal consolidations, you may want to consider BCS.
You should be able to find several documents comparing the two solutions if you go the Support Center (https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/support) and do a document search on BPC vs. BCS.
    Hope this helps.

  • Any landscape recommendations for 2004s BI & SEM-BCS 6.0 ?

    Hi,
in addition to our ERP 2005 we plan to set up a separate central BI 7.0 for following integrated NW2004s scenarios:
    - Enterprise wide central reporting, query and analysis.
    - BI Integrated Planning (successor of SEM-BPS).
    - SEM-BCS 6.0.
    <u>Question:</u>
Should the BCS be installed on a separate system, because of patch interdependencies with the central BI?
If yes, does BCS still need its own local BI, or can it run remotely with the central BI (like the old BW-BPS)?
Similar sap recommendations exist only for SEM-BPS, which we won't use in favor of BI Integrated Planning.
I searched the whole sap.marketplace for this, in vain.
The installations and combination-possibilities are beautifully explained, but no official recommendations about what should all be put on one central BI and what should be better kept apart.
Rumors say you should keep SEM out of your central BI and give it its own BI, to avoid painful patch/release dependencies.
What about the "single point of truth"-conecept in one central BI then?
    Thank's for any hints ...
    Robert

    Hi Eugene,
thanks for your callback. Here an example:
Say, you need a BI-Patch (urgent bug-fix) or may be a BI-Upgrade to be able to use new functionalities for your Enterprise wide central reporting, query and analysis (since you don't use the BI only for BCS).
So, you would have to wait, until the same is also available for SEM-BCS, as it it tightly coupled to the BI (e.g. direct writing to transactional cubes, query via virtual cube augmented with data at query-runtime).
Notes like 727776 and 317339 just make me suspicious.
A similar SAP Help-hint is only available for BW-BPS (but we will use BI integrated Planning)
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/44/584041b02e4c0de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Since more and more SAP-Applications need a BI, i am desperately missing a comprehensive overview, which of them should not be placed in the same BI for technical reasons (e.g. one sap-note says Bank-Analyzer and SEM-BCS should not be on the same BI).
    Regards
    Robert

  • Logo Kit help- how to prepare logo files for office use?

Hi, I need assistance preparing ready-made logo files for our office owners to use. So far, I have the following that I've created in Illustrator:
    1. EPS files with Pantone colors for professional printing (publications, ads, brochures, business cards, etc)
    2. I converted the EPS files into RGB 72 dpi JPEG and GIF files (small, medium, and large sizes) for various online and digital uses (PowerPoint presentations, e-mails, online forms, social media pages, etc.)
    3. I also converted the EPS files into CMYK 300 dpi TIF files for in-house printing (in small, medium, and large sizes)
#3 is where I need the most assistance. These files are for the office owners to import and arrange into their own publications that will be printed inside their own office. During the test run, I was notified of color variances that were happening- the logo files were being inserted into Word documents that were then converted into PDFs. In a few cases (when the document was saved as PDF, or exported as a PDF in the print preview), the colors appeared pretty accurate (at least on screen, they were not printed) but in a case when the document was being exported as a PDF in the Adobe Standard Add-on, the colors were very off (appeared much more vibrant). During researching the issue, I am starting to lean on provided these types of files with RGB colors (especially if they will be using them in Microsoft Office). Let me know if this is correct - I am still a bit confused though, since I've always thought that files that are to be printed must be in CMYK, not RGB.
How should I be preparing these types of files?
    Thanks!
Also, any quick tips for the EPS or online RGB file preparation when saving? I made sure to embed colors in the RGB files for color consistency within browsers. For the EPS, I made sure to embed fonts. Anything else I should be keeping my eye out for?

if the color conversion would be accurate to the original that way.
If you worry about that in the context of using Office apps, you might as well shoot yourself or jump out of the next window. You simply won't know and unless they work on calibrated monitors and printers (which is extremely unlikely) your precautions with embedding color profiles and all that mean pretty much nothing. The same for your web stuff - unless there is an active monitor color profile on the system, browsers won't do any color management. That's even more the case for mobile devices. So in summary, you can really only output it based on your calibration and hope it matches their systems and a standard sRGB profile reasonably well.

  • Upgrading hard drive... need help on how to prepare current CS6 for reinstall on new hard drive

I'm about to upgrade my hard drive to a larger one and will need to reinstall my CS6 Web/Design Suite... I've seen many people having issues with activation and licensing after they reformat their computers or buy a new one and try to install the programs on the new "system". How should I go about preparing my Adobe software on the current hard drive so I won't have any issues resintalling on the new hard drive? I will be installing CS6 Student/Teacher version on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit...
    Thanks for the help!

    Thanks!
I wondered if that was all I needed, but when I built my new system and installed PS CS4 I kept getting errors. So, I went back to the old system and deactivated it and still got errors. Uninstalled it deactivated and still got errors on the new system. When I talked to Adobe they just kept telling me the key was invalid (even though I had been running that same program and key for the last 4 years without problems lol) and it was not a burnt copy or pirated. I had the orginal box with the original DVD case and serial number on the case... A friend of mine had upgraded their rig and went to a Suite so he gave me his CS4. But, needless to say (as it is said all over these forums apparently) Adobe was of no help at all so I had to buy a new version. I'm not looking to go through all of that BS again, haha.
So as long as I deactivate the Suite (or do I need to deactivate each program separately?) I should be able to reformat (or upgrade hard drives) and reinstall CS6 as many times as I want? (I usually do a reformat like once a year to keep my computers clean and free of junk that may have been downloaded by other household members...)

KCav45 we do have the CC Cleaner Tool available at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6.  The most which it would remove from Photoshop Elements 5 would be the licensing files.  Even for Photoshop Elements 13 the uninstaller must be run first and only the licensing files are affected.
I would recommend running the uninstaller available through the Programs and Features Control Panel to remove the Photoshop Elements 5 installation.  Your photos should not be affected.
I did find Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later although I am unsure if it is relevant for Photoshop Elements 5.  If you have questions regarding transferring the photos, and any tags or organization you have done, to Photoshop Elements 13 I would recommend posting in the Photoshop Elements forum at Photoshop Elements.  The community in that forum will be more familiar with the topic of moving your photos.

  • How to prepare MySQL DB for my VDI 3.1 POC

    Dear all,
I am not really knows about database. My office asked me to setup and do a simple POC based on Sun VDI 3.1.
I have executed vda-install command and its installed, VDI core, mysql, SRS and others.
Next action is "Prepare your MySQL database" and this step is before running vda-config.
Appreciate if anyone could guide me on how to perform a simple MySQL setup for me to use for my POC on VDI 3.1.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ali_Sampras ,
    1. For a POC you might want to go for Evaluation [ option 0 ].
    2. Execute ./vda-install ,reboot your server .
Once the server is up , execute ./vda-config and select option 0
You will have an evaluation setup up and running.
    3.
-> You can use option 1/2 for a production setup ,high availability/fail over purpose i.e if you have 3 or more servers.
-> option 3 when you have license to use InnodB engine and have only one server.[here before executing ./vda-config you need to install/configure Innodb on the VDI host] .
-> option 0 when you have a single server and don't require fail over .

  • How to prepare my machine for Leopard?

Hi, I'm guessing that there are some tried and true techniques that one should do before a big migration like this. Can anyone give me some direction on what I should do to prepare for this and how to go about it to get the cleanest install possible? Cheers all.

I agree with Allan in that you should "Repair Disk", "Repair Permissions", and have a backup cloned copy of the HD before starting the installation of Leopard.
I also recommend this to my clients.
After doing the above, place the Leopard installer disk in the computer and click the installer. Then it restarts.
When the disk opens, Choose your language....
Now, don't go any further for the installation at this time...
    1. Click on the Utilities at the top on the main menu bar and go down to "Disk Utility".
    2. In Disk Utility, choose your disk and then "Repair Disk" (yes, repair the disk again using Leopard)
    3. then "Repair Permissions" (yes, repair permissions again using Leopard)
I did the above on all 3 of my machines and they installed without a hitch.
iMac Core Duo, Mac Mini Core Solo, MacBook Core 2 Duo....
The "Leopard Installer Disk" Repair Disk application, found a problem on 2 of my drives before the installation.
These had already been repaired with the Tiger Disk Utility but apparently the Leopard disk utility found something else and repaired it.
Works for me and I'm sticking too it........
    Good Luck

  • How to prepare my mini for sale with it's software intact?

My Mac Mini is all setup with the latest updates to all is it's media-based software.  I have installed Plex, Hulu and Boxee and they are working great.  Now I don't need it anymore due to our ipad2 being a great pal to the HD TV.  How can I confidently sell the min hardware and still keep it configured the way it is and not risk any account data?  I have removed my profiles from all software, erased my keychains, removed all browser personality, history, cache and believe they are free of my credentials.  Any other ideas for insuring the mini leaves my house without the keys to my kingdom?  It is running the latest version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8 I believe).

Still looking for a better answer but not hopeful.  I did like the comment about cleaning off the fingerprints.
I spent a fair amount of my time (valueless) in getting this particular Mac Mini setup to run on my big screen TV as a home theater computer.  I scanned the software offerings for both Mac and PC and ended up with the Mac versions of three media congregators - hulu, plex and boxee.  I believe they are still among the best the internet Mac based software community has to offer for free.  I also setup itunes for home sharing and found this quite wonderful, especially using Apple's Front Row and the mini-remote by Apple.  For boxee, I sometimes used the iphone remote.  We have now given up on this adventure and find that less media is better for our health and welfare.  Thus the need to sell the mini.  [Sorry for the long story]
I think I will follow the well-intended advice of the above users and wipe the disk, install the OS from a DVD, reload the vital software and apply patches and move this puppy to the next happy owner, along with the fancy HDMI connector.  Thanks all.

  • How to prepare Adobe programs for Mac Pro

I just bought a Mac Pro and will "Migrate" from my G5 2.5. I've prepared files and drivers(updating to UB or removing some per suggestions from this forum).
My only concern is Adobe CS2 suite(Illustrator,Photoshop, InDesign). While I am fully aware of the performance hit(I will have an additional 1 or 2 gigs of ram by this weekend), is there anything else I should do with regards to the Adobe apps to make them more "Intel-friendly".

The only important thing to do is to install it new, don't use the Migration Assistant, and to custom install WITHOUT Adobe Version Cue 2. There is Intel issues with this component. Otherwise, it should work as planned.
