How to prevent repitition in array implementation?

Hi!
i made a program that will display the output of an a multidimensional array into an output line. but i have a problem on how to prevent the output to print the same item..
thank u!
the output of this program will have at least 1 item that is repeated.
for example {1, 2, 3, 4, 1} how to make the program only print out one "1" {1, 2, 3, 4}?
The program output is ({1, 2, 3, 4, 1},}
what i want is ({1, 2, 3, 4}, ).
//compile this first
public class Graph {
this function will convert graph that it get fom GraphToSet.java to set
public static void convert(int[][] a) {
int rows = a.length;
int cols = a[0].length;
System.out.println("Graph in matrix form["+rows+"]["+cols+"] = "); //Displaying the graph in matrix form
for (int i=0; i<rows; i++) {
System.out.print("{");
for (int j=0; j<cols; j++)
System.out.print(" " + a[j] + ",");
System.out.println("},");
System.out.println("\nG=(V,E)");
System.out.print("G=({");
for (int k=0; k<rows; k++)
System.out.print(" "+ a[k][0] + ", "); //retrieving all the vertices from GraphToSet.java

System.out.print(", {");
for (int i=0; i<rows; i++) {
System.out.print("(");
for (int j=0; j<cols; j++) //retrieving all the edges from GraphToSet.java
System.out.print(" " + a[j] + ","); //and print it out
System.out.print(")");
System.out.println("})"); //final output for graph to set
public class GraphToSet {
run GraphToSet to get the output from Graph.java and GraphToJava.java
public static void main(String[] argv) {
int x[][] = {
{ 1, 2 }, //graph are repsented in matrix form
{ 2, 3 },
{ 3, 4 },
{ 4, 1 },
{ 1, 3 },
Graph.convert(x); //convert the graph into matrix by calling the function

  • How an array implements an interface?

    Section 5.5 of JLS (dealing with casting conversions) explains something like this:
    When an interface type S is cast to an array type T,
    "then T must implement S, or a compile-time error occurs. "
    I could not understand how an array can be made to implement an interface.
    I guessed it means that the component type of array implements the interface, and prepared the following test code. It doesn't compile.
    interface S{  }
    class C implements S{ }
    class Test {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
         C[] ac = new C[100];
         S s = new C();
         C[] ac1 = (C[])s; //doesn't compile
         System.out.println(ac1.length);
    Would someone open my eyes? Thank you

    dmbdmb Your correction compiled my code. But I was not looking for that, because the corrected code casts an array type to array type. Anyway, thanks.
    jverdYou are the man. Now I got it. Thank you.
    I think I will have to remember your simplified rule (Then S must be Serializable or Cloneable) rather than the JLS' rule. With your rule, I can write a test code like this, which compiles, and which shows that an interface type can be cast to array type.
    import java.awt.Point;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    class Test {
            public static void main(String[] args) {
               Point[] pa = new Point[100]; //any array of reference type
               Serializable s = new String("test");
               Point[] pa1 = (Point[])s; //compiles, though invalid at runtime
    }

  • How do you create an array without using a shell on the FP?

    I want to be able to read the status of front panel controls (value, control box selection, etc.) and save it to a file, as a "configuration" file -- then be able to load it and have all the controls set to the same states as were saved in the file. I was thinking an array would be a way to do this, as I have done that in VB. (Saving it as a text file, then reading lines back into the array when the file is read and point the control(s) values/states to the corresponding array element.
    So how do I create an array of X dimensions without using a shell on the front panel? Or can someone suggest a better way to accomplish what I am after? (Datalogging doesn't allow for saving the status by a filename, so I
    do not want to go that route.)

    Thanks so much m3nth! This definitely looks like what I was wanting... just not really knowing how to get there.
    I'm not sure I follow all the icons. Is that an array (top left with 0 constant) in the top example? And if so, that gets back to part of my original question of how to create an array without using a shell on the FP. Do I follow your diagram correctly?
    If I seem a tad green... well I am.
    I hope you understand the LabVIEW environment and icons are still very new to me.
    Also, I had a response from an NI app. engineer about this problem. He sent me a couple of VI's that he threw together approaching this by using Keys. (I still think you are pointing to the best solution.) I assume he wouldn't mind m
    e posting his reply and the VI's for the sake of a good, thorough, Roundtable discussion. So here are his comments with VI's attached:
    "I was implementing this exact functionality this morning for an application I'm working on. I only have five controls I want to save, but they are all of different data types. I simply wrote a key for each control, and read back that key on initialization. I simply passed in property node values to the save VI at the end, and passed the values out to property nodes at
    the beginning. I've attached my initialize and save VI's for you to view. If you have so many controls that this would not be feasible, you may want to look into clustering the controls and saving the cluster as a datalog file.

  • How to prevent error message for material description in MDG material detail screen, when user click on check action

    Dear Experts,
    I have a requirement for making material description as non mandetory in change request view of mdg material screen.
    I have done that using field usage in get data method of feeder classes, but still message is displaying.
    This message 'Material description is mandatory is displaying with check action only, but not with save or submit after i anhance field property as not mandetory.
    How to prevent error message for material description in MDG material detail screen, when user click on check action.
    Thanks
    Sukumar

    Hello Sukumar
    In IMG activity "Configure Properties of Change Request Step", you can completely deactivate the reuse area checks (but will then loose all other checks of the backend business logic as well).
    You can also set the error severity of the checks from Error to Warning (per CR type, not per check).
    Or you provide a default value for the material description, e.g. by implementing the BAdI USMD_RULE_SERVICE.

  • How to prevent JaxB creation of 2 Interfaces for each Element?

    hi,
    does any body know how to prevent JaxB creation of 2 Interfaces for each Element (The Content Interface and the element interface)?
    I want to configure JaxB to use only one Interface and only one implementation Class.
    Thank's,

    I am sorry I can not answer your question, I have got the same problem. Could you please email me to
    [email protected] when you know the answer, please.
    I have a question for you. When and complex type is validated, I get the object which contains the error. ( or objects ).
    However. How do know the position in the actual parent object. basically. Is there a way to know exactly the position of that attribute in that object. I need to store errors strings.
    The first problem derives from this one:
    It is not possible to execute validate function for a primitive attribute inside an structure.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

  • How to prevent JFileChooser automatically changing to parent directory?

    When you show only directories, and click on the dir icons to navigate, and then dont select anything and click OK, it automatically 'cd's to the parent folder.
    My application is using the JFileChooser to let the user navigate through folders and certain details of 'foo' files in that folder are displayed in another panel.
    So we dont want the chooser automatically changing dir to parent when OK is clicked. How to prevent this behavior?
    I considered extending the chooser and looked at the Swing source code but it is hard to tell where the change dir is happening.
    thanks,
    Anil
    To demonstrate this, I took the standard JFileChooserDemo from the Sun tutorial and modified it adding these lines
              // NEW line 45 in constructor
              fc.addPropertyChangeListener((PropertyChangeListener) this);
              fc.setFileSelectionMode(JFileChooser.DIRECTORIES_ONLY);

                   File file = (File) e.getNewValue();
                   System.out.println("DIRECTORY:" + file.getPath());

  • JTable: how to prevent events?

    Hello friends...
    Does somebody know how to prevent a JTable to fire events at certain times when selections are made?
    In this case, the selection can be made externally to the table, by a lot of objects at the same time. The goal is to fire an event ONLY when I really need it...
    ThanX in advance for any help...

    Hello again...
    ThanX for your answers, I used a mix of both.
    I used the method .setValueIsAdjusting() in ListSelectionModel that considers all coming events as one and I used a flag to enable changes.
    The problem now is, I get a big array of values the table has to handle. Since it handles it as one unique event, it should be OK. But I fear that if the array is really monstruous, the method .setValueIsAdjusting() enters in "wait" mode (multi threads and all the stuff) and the flag is set to true (changes possible) without changes being made to table... Perhaps, there would be no problem at all...
    Is it possible to force .setValueIsAdjusting() to do his job immediately?
    ThanX a lot for your time...

    How to handle an array of strings in LabView is impatient.
    I want to VB program implemented in LabView.

    Have you actually tried to right click on the according node parameter and select Create->Constant or Create-Control??
    And I don't see any string array in the parameter list. That are all simple strings and the VB code in your first post clearly shows that the call to the function only indexes the first element of those arrays to be passed to the function, not the entire array.
    If the function really reads arrays despite being declared as only taking strings then it is using some weirdo VB trickery and there will be no way to replicate that in LabVIEW.

  • How to prevent users accessing hotspot

    hi all
    i have to resolved this issue your help will be benefit for me
    i have users on the internal network when using wireless has restrictions on brwosing the internet but if when the receive signal from hotspot or somewhere else they connect to it and have no restrictions on their laptops so can someone explain me how to prevent them connection to the hotspot when they are inside the corporate LAN
    thx

    If you have a Cisco WLC you can at least do rogue access point detection with Cisco Cleanair capable AP's.
    Firstly, WLC cannot stop your staff from accessing your neighbor's Wi-Fi.  You also cannot "jam" or contain your neighbor's Wi-Fi signal.  As what Steve said, there's no way a Cisco appliance can do.  A system/network admin can, on the other hand, lock down the profiles and policy via AD what the client can/can't do with wireless.
    After a few fines/written discplinary actions people should stop.
    If you tell a kid "no", what do you think a kid will do?  This works the same way with adults.
    Take our case, this government agency decided to embrace Wi-Fi.  So they got this team together and we, networks, went around installing the latest Cisco WAP in a 10-storey building (including pre- and post- site survey).  Works well.  During tests, clients can seamlessly roam their laptops from one end of the floor to the other.  Tick of approval.
    Then security came, and they put down this policy:
    1.  No one can use internet dongles anymore; and
    2.  The only sites Wi-Fi users can use over the internet are Yahoo and Google
    Because of this, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) stopped using Wi-Fi.  From the CEO down to the rank-and-file.  Wi-Fi usage, per month, was at (an average) 12.  Users went back to the un-restricted USB internet dongles and the Wi-Fi network became a white elephant.  Internet usage cost went through the roof but the Security team stood their ground and did not waver.
    My story is this:  The more you restrict, the more they'll find loopholes.  Every corporation is now being proactive and are implementing BYOD.

  • How difficult would it be to implement an iMessage whitelist..?

    iMessage spam is a really big problem to me and my family members.  And getting worse by the week.
    Blocking individual senders is ludicrously ineffective and Apple seems to be reluctant to allow us to block entire domains (which would really help).
    So how difficult would it be to implement a whitelist?  (For example... I don't want any iMessages from anybody not in my Contacts list!)
    I'm really close to disabling iMessage altogether.  It is barely worth the effort now.

    The difficulty and time to do it depends on the learning
    capability of the new programmer. Patience and a drive to learn is
    what all is needed. Accomplishing one step at a time is probably
    the best approach, whether you're new or well-versed.

  • How to ask for an array and how to save the values

    I'm supposed to be learning the differences between a linear search and a binary search, and the assignment is to have a user input an array and search through the array for a given number using both searches.                 if(value == anArray[mid]) {
                    index = mid; //value found at anArray[mid]
                else if(value < anArray[mid]) {

                    index = binarySearch(anArray, first, mid-1, value);
                else {
                    //point Y
                    index = binarySearch(anArray, mid+1, last, value);

        public int linearSearch(int a[], int valueToFind)
            //valueToFind is the number that will be found
            //The function returns the position of the value if found
            //The function returns -1 if valueToFind was not found
            for (int i=0; i<a.length; i++) {
                if (valueToFind == a) {
    return i;
    return -1;

    I made the changes. Two more questions.
    1.) Just for curiosity, how would I have referenced those methods (called them)?
    2.) How do I call the searches?
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    public class Main
        private static Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
        public static void main (String args[])
            //creates ArrayList
            int List[];
            System.out.println("How many values would you like the array to have?");
            int arrayLength = input.nextInt();
            //Initializes array list
            List = new int [arrayLength];
            //Collects the array information
            for(int i=0; i < arrayLength; i++) {
                 System.out.println("Enter a value for array");
                 List[i] = input.nextInt();
            //Prints the array
            System.out.print("Array: ");
            for(int i=0; i < List.length; i++)
                 System.out.print(List[i] + " ");
            //Asks for the value to be searched for
            System.out.println("What value would you like to search for?");
            int temp = input.nextInt();
            System.out.println(search.binarySearch()); //not working
    }

  • How can I convert an array off byte into an Object ?

    Hi folks...
    Im developing an application that comunicates a PDA and a computer via Wi-Fi. Im using a DataStream ( Input and Output ) to receive / send information from / to the computer. Most off the data received from him is in the byte[] type...
    How can I convert an array off byte ( byte[] ) into an Object using MIDP 2.0 / CLDC 1.1 ?
    I found on the web 2 functions that made this... but it uses a ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream classes that is not provided by the J2ME plataform...
    How can I do this ?
    Waiting answers

    There are no ObjectOutputStream and ObjectInputStream classes in CLDC. You must know what you are writing to and reading from the DataStream. You should write the primitives like int, String to the DataOutputstream at one end and read those in exactly the same sequence at the outher end using readInt(), readUTF() methods.

  • How do I convert an array of BYTES (where each BYTE represents a bit) into a single Hex number?

    I am reading a signal from a USB-8451. This signal is stored as an array where each element represents a bit in the signal, but is stored in the array as a byte. How do I convert this array into a single Hex number. I attatched what I have so far, there are a few extra things to help me see what ia going on. One code uses Queue and the other uses arrays, let me know if you can help.

    ... so we can't introduce any other forms of signals or power into the circuit other than what the circuit already has. Trithfully I don't really know how I2C devices work, but my mentor here says that we can't use an I2C method becuase it will introduce voltage into the circuit and may damage out TCON chip.
    That makes absolutely no sense. What do you think is happening when you write the digital lines? You're setting a pin high. That voltage is being generated by the 8451x. I think you're not understanding what your mentor is saying. If it's an I2C device then you should be able to use the I2C function to simply talk to it. You still have not indicated what the device is, so there's little more I can say about that aspect of it.
    As far as the conversion is concerned, you basically need loop through your array of "bits", taking 16 at time since you said you have 16-bit values. It's not clear from your code whether your eventual goal is to get a numeric value or a string. This does not appear to be a subVI, so a simply numeric indicator formatted to display in hex format should be quite adequate. The array you are generating is an array of rings, whose datatype is I32, but they will have values of 0 or 1. You can use the example just posted, or you can use the attached variation.
