How to publish XML document whose source is stored in clob column

I have to create simple application:
in one table are stored some information about XML documents (date of creation, etc.) and the document source itself in one (unfortunatelly clob type) column.
The point is to anable users finding document(s) and viewing it.
Using forms I can search and display information about documents. But I have no idea how to publish XML document whose source is stored in clob column.
I am using Oracle Portal 3.0 on NT.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sergio,
This link might be helpful:
http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
Also refer the BLOB Download Format Mask :
{message:id=9716335}
Here I have given the format mask for APEX 4.0, which will slightly differ for 3.2.1 and proposed changes
in the format mask are:
1) Format Mask: DOWNLOAD
2) Content Disposition: Inline
This will be achieved with it:
>
But now, my user would like to know if it´s possible that APEX application can OPEN some of these files stored on this BLOB column WITHOUT download it.
My user would like to see a hiperlink (or button) that, if pressed/acessed, can open a new page (or a page inside application) with the document. He doesn´t need to edit this oppened file. He only wants to see it.

Hope it helps!

  • How to display XML document

    Hello All.
    I am using Apex 3.0.1.x. I've uploaded an XML file into an XMLTYPE column in a table and am now trying to display this XML data in an Apex report region.
    I saw a beautiful example of doing this in Denes Kubicek's wonderful demo app 31517, page 90. Here's the link to this page:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:90
    I copied the procedure code he uses to display the XML into a package. Here's the code I'm using:
    <pre>
    PROCEDURE DISPLAY_XML (P_ID IN INTEGER)
    AS
    V_PROC VARCHAR2(100);
    V_ERRMSG VARCHAR2(300);
    V_MIME VARCHAR2 (48);
    V_LENGTH NUMBER;
    V_FILE_NAME VARCHAR2 (2000);
    V_LOB_LOC BLOB;
    XML_TO_BLOB_ERROR EXCEPTION;
    BEGIN
    V_PROC := 'ONLINE_MODEL_PKG.DISPLAY_XML_DEVICES';
    V_ERRMSG := NULL;
    SELECT DECODE(V('APP_USER'),NULL,'N','Y')
    INTO V_HTML_FLAG
    FROM DUAL;
    BEGIN
    SELECT X.MIME_TYPE,
    PROC_FUNC_PACK.CLOB2BLOB(X.DEVICE_XML.GETCLOBVAL()),
    X.DEVICE_FILENAME
    INTO V_MIME,
    V_LOB_LOC,
    V_FILE_NAME
    FROM XML_DOCS X
    WHERE X.ID = P_ID;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    V_ERRMSG := SUBSTR('ERROR ('||V_PROC||'): DURING DISPLAY OF XML DATA: '||SQLERRM, 1, 300);
    RAISE XML_TO_BLOB_ERROR;
    END;
    V_LENGTH := DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH (V_LOB_LOC);
    -- set up HTTP header
    -- use an NVL around the mime type and
    -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
    -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
    OWA_UTIL.MIME_HEADER (NVL (V_MIME, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
    -- SET THE SIZE SO THE BROWSER KNOWS HOW MUCH TO DOWNLOAD
    HTP.P ('Content-length: ' || V_LENGTH);
    -- THE FILENAME WILL BE USED BY THE BROWSER IF THE USERS DOES A SAVE AS
    HTP.P ( 'Content-Disposition: filename="'
    || V_FILE_NAME
    || '"'
    -- CLOSE THE HEADERS
    OWA_UTIL.HTTP_HEADER_CLOSE;
    -- DOWNLOAD THE BLOB
    WPG_DOCLOAD.DOWNLOAD_FILE (V_LOB_LOC);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN XML_TO_BLOB_ERROR THEN
    V_ERRMSG := PROC_FUNC_PACK.FORMAT_MSG(V_ERRMSG, V_HTML_FLAG);
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20010, V_ERRMSG);
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    V_ERRMSG := SUBSTR('ERROR ('||V_PROC||'): '||SQLERRM, 1, 300);
    V_ERRMSG := PROC_FUNC_PACK.FORMAT_MSG(V_ERRMSG, V_HTML_FLAG);
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20020, V_ERRMSG);
    END DISPLAY_XML_DEVICES;
    </pre>
    I then invoke this packaged procedure in an iframe, just like what Denes is doing. I put the following code in my report region source field:
    <pre>
    DECLARE
    v VARCHAR2 (500);
    BEGIN
    v :=
    'SELECT '
    || '''<iframe src="#OWNER#.ONLINE_MODEL_PKG.DISPLAY_XML?p_id='
    || :p53_id
    || '"'
    || ' height="800" width="950"></iframe>'''
    || ' document_display'
    || ' FROM DUAL';
    RETURN v;
    END;
    </pre>
    When I run the report in Intenet Explorer (version 6.x), I get a strange security warning popup asking if I want to display unsecure items. When I click "Yes", the report region shows up with a "Could not find web page" error 404 inside the report region.
    I then tried running the app in Fire Fox (version 2.0.0.15). This time I do not get any security warning, but the report region shows up with the message "Procedure Doesn't Exist".
    Another page in my app calling other procedures in my package, and so, I know that Apex is "seeing" the package.
    Does anyone know why I'm seeing these strange things? And, is there, perhaps, another way to display an XML document in an Apex page?
    Thank you.
    Elie

    Hi Arthur,
    I assume you are using EP6.0, below SP3.
    The XML Forms can be displayed using standard SAP layouts only. There is a special type of servlet. This alongwith the CSS is applied when you click to display the "Show" form.
    As far as I know, there is no other way to display as you want to. You can probably get more help by specifying the exact scenario.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to parse XML document returned by webservices

    Hi,
    I have a form (version 10.1.2.0) which has to display the credit card types using webservices. I created the webstub and jar file through jdeveloper and then after adding the jar files in the respective classpaths, I import it in the forms. I write the code in when-button-pressed and it gives the result in xml document like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><WSAnswerTO><error>false</error><errorMessage></errorMessage><
    results><CardTypeTO><carTypId>3</carTypId><type>AMERICAN
    EXPRESS</type><numLength>15</numLength><cvvLength>4</cvvLength><comments>1 800-639-0002</comments></CardTypeTO><CardTypeTO><carTypId>4</carTypId><type>DISCOVER</type><numLength>16</numLength><cvvLength>3</cvvLength><comments>1 800-347-2683</comments></CardTypeTO><CardTypeTO><carTypId>1</carTypId><type>MASTERCARD</type><numLength>16</numLength><cvvLength>3</cvvLength><comments>1 800-633-7367</comments></CardTypeTO><CardTypeTO><carTypId>2</carTypId><type>VISA</type><numLength>16</numLength><cvvLength>3</cvvLength><comments>1 800-945-2000</comments></CardTypeTO></results></WSAnswerTO>
    From the above xml document, I only need to display the type (such as AMERICAN EXPRESS, VISA, ETC) in my forms. Can somebody please tell me how to do it. Do I need to store the values in a table first and then retrieve it. Please advise. I have already read a otn document in xml parsing but I didnt understand anything from it.
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    It probably exists a database package/function to parse this kind of stuff.
    If you want to keep the process into the Forms, here is a PL/SQL package you can use:

  • How to convert XML document to xml variable?

    Hi,
    I have taken an xml variable in my process and reading a xml document file. Can anyone tell me how can i convert this xml document to xml variable so that i can parse the xml variable.
    I am able to convert xml variable to xml document variable by using set value activity. But how do I perform reverse process.
    I want to perform this conversion because i want to keep xml data in document format on storage drive and then parse this xml data so that i can read the nodes.
    Any help will be appreciated..
    Regards

    we can use set value activity to reach these xml docs and assign it to xml variable.
    Then parsing of this xml can be browsed to find the nodes.

    I want to create new docuemnt by taking part of the existent XML document under the node document_text

    vdoc:= xmldom.makeDocument( vNode);
    insert into cltab values (empty_clob()) returning cl into cl;
    xmldom.writeToClob(vdoc_txt, cl);
    But after that i am still getting the whole document tree, - copy of the whole document.
    What am i doing wrong? What functions should i use for this kind of task? xmldom.clonenode?
    Could you recommend any good description of the xmldom package?
    Thanks,

    If you are using an FI  entry F-43 to generate invoice this can be done by giving the same invoice ref. in the Inv. Ref. field  for two vendors. This is manual
    Document Split will split the document between two profit center and not between vendors.

  • How to create XML document in Java from scratch ?

    I've downloaded the package generated for my schema.
    Now I'm trying to create a XML Document using the interfaces generated and the
    xmlbeans package. In documentation, all samples start with a call to XmlLoader.load(xmlinput).
    In my case I've no xmlinput, I've only java parameters and i need to produce an

    Could you provide a sample code please ?
    Thanks in advance.

    It looks like you only need to use the xmlText() method from the root of any node
    you want to print out to a file. I used a PrintStream() class and then used the
    ps.print(vpDetails.xmlText()); to save to a file.
    Hope this helps.

    what is the simplest way to get a xml-file from 10g-database ?

    There is no automatic way to generate XML documents from an arbitary set of relational tables using the information contained in an XML Schema. Typically the easiest way to generate XML from relational data is to use the SQL/XML operators (XMLElement, XMLAGG, XMLAttribtues, XMLForest). There are many examples of using these operators in the forums You can validate the generated XML against the XML Schema by registering the XML Schema with XML DB and then using the XMLType.SchemaValidate() method

  • How to ftp XML document into a XML type which is not created by itself.

    Hi,
    1.
    I have a table call SNPLEX_DESIGN which is created automaticly when I register a snplex_design.xsd XML schema.( Oracle creates it through the xdb:defaultTable="SNPLEX_DESIGN attribute). and it is created using SNPLEX user account.
    2.
    I also created a folder (resource) call /home/SNPLEX/Orders. which is used to hold all the incoming XML document.
    3.
    I created another user account call SNPLEX_APP, which is the only user account allowed to FTP XML document into /home/SNPLEX/Orders folder.
    Isuues,
    If I login as SNPLEX user, I can ftp XML document into the folder and TABLE (the file size = 0). But If I login as SNPLEX_APP user account, I can only ftp XML document into the folder, but Oracle doesn't store the document into the table( becuase the files size shows a number).
    I have granted all the ACL privileges on the /home/SNPEX/Orders folder to SNPLEX_APP hrough OEM.
    DO I miss anything. Any helps will be great appreciated. Resolve this issues is very import to us, sicne we are on a stage to roll system into production.

    Jinsen

    IN order for a registered schema to be available to other users the schema must be registered as a GLOBAL, rather than a LOCAL Schema. This is controlled by the third agument passed to registerSChema, and the default is local. Note that you will also need to explicity grant appropriate permissions on any tables created by the schema registration process to other users who will be loading or reading data from these tables.
