Pt880 Fsr Bios 1.8

I just purchased a PT880 FSR mobo and decided to download the lastest BIOS before installing Windows XP.  Much to my disappointment, I couldn't find
the CPU voltage adjustment (all the other settings were there).  I reflashed the BIOS with 1.7 and yup....it was there.
SO, I guess MSI decided to remove the CPU voltage adjustment in the latest BIOS?  Was this a preventative measure?  OR an oversight?
Hm...wondering.
CU

The option, is to protect Prescott CPU.
Prescott runs a DYNAMIC voltage.............and trying to "set" this............near impossible
If you wish to increase voltage, go back to OLDER bios. (Why upgrade bios if all is working well????)

  • PT880-FSR newbie problems

I'm a newbie to all this, but I seem to be having problems with my memory, I think.  Here's my setup...
    PT880-FSR
    P4 3.20E
    Mushkin 512MB PC3200
    nVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Western Digital 15G EIDE Hard Drive
I got XP to install once but during installation, while it was copying the setup files, a message would come up stating it could not copy the file and would ask to retry, skip file, or quit setup (always on the shell32.dll and driver.cab files).  There was no problem with the disk, since the same thing happened when I tried to install Windows 2000 first.  Nor was it a problem with the CD drive since i swapped it out and tried a different drive and still the same problem.  The one time I did get XP to install I would get stop messages saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL frequently so I reformatted and tried to reinstall but now during installation i would get a stop message saying PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
Can somebody out there please help me?!

    Hey,
I am also having some of the same problems. If anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I just built my first computer and its not going very well. I have a few issues that I cant resolve.
    1)   My USB ports aren’t working w/ anything. (i.e. printer, mouse, Lexar Jumpdrive) At first I would plug in the Lexar 256mb Jumpdrive Sport and a few minutes later my screen would go blank and then my computer would restart. Now it just says that the driver needs to be installed, but then it can’t find one.
    2)   When I try to play C&C generals the game will start then a few minutes into it my screen would go blank and then my computer would restart. It also sometimes happens when I am using winplayer and on the web at the same time.
    3)   I also get two errors frequently IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I have reformatted and reinstalled XP several times. Twice it has stopped at the 10-minute mark. I have tried Windows XP W/ SP2 then I clean reinstalled XP SP1. Is this all the same thing? Can anybody help me? I have been reading forums for the past week.
     My hardware is
(I’m not at home right now so I only put what I am sure of)
    PT880 NEO-FSR w/ P4 3.2 hyperthreading
    KINGSTON 768 DDR
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600 Video Card, 256MB DDR AGP 4X/8X
ANTEC SONATA 380w true power. Power supply
    DVD drive (something speed)
I am using the built in sound.
I don’t remember the specs for my hard drive
I have a SCSI card plugged in but I have not hooked up my second hard drive yet
I will find out what my bios is and post it later if it will be helpful.
Also, please note that my computer is setup for duel boot. XP primary and NT 4 secondary (so I can run a video capture card that isn’t compatible w/ XP.
Again thanks for taking the time to read this. Please reply if you know anything that may be helpful.

    K8T Neo-FSR BIOS didn't know sampron64

Blue screens have nothing to do with the Bios update. Those are trypically symptopmatic of other issues like low amps on the 12v rail for the devices you use or memopry issues and that like. Start by testing memory with memtest86+ as it is one of the likelyest suspects. Also post how many amps are on the 12v rail base on the lable on the PSU.
As for contacting MSI directly about when a Bios update is coming won'y get an answer but you are welcomed to contact them at support.msi.com.tw if you like.

  • K8N Neo FSR Bios overclocking functions help needed

Hi all, I am a small pc builder for the family and i have found some problems with the bios of my uncles K8N neo FSR which I recommended for him. Basically it wouldn't seem to overclock with the 'Dynamic Overclocking' function on bios v1.7 but did manually by adjusting FSB incrementally (ie from 200 to 205 Mhz). When I questioned this before someone had mentioned that it could be ok to run like this. However I have since updated the bios to v1.9 and even v2.1 as they became available but now neither seem to overclock manually nor using 'Dynamic overclocking'
Firstly though, can someone clear up my first conception; To test if the Dynamic Overclocking function is working can I set it to a higher setting (ie.'Commander'), save and exit bios (restarting) ---> go straight back into bios ----> go straight back into Cell Menu and check 'Current frequency of cpu' has changed?
I only ask this as if this is the case then my Dynamic Overclocking function hasn't worked with three bios' and I wont bother with anything until I RMA the board lol, as I have never been able to change the frequency of my cpu at boot/bios stage with the dynamic overclocking function.
    Can anyone help me?

Hi Stu, yesterday I think i found out what u mean lol. I studied a 'Sticky' ? about overclocking A64s and found some interesting stuff. Apparently overclocking the HTT is dangerous, and A64s are always at least half locked. Now with this in mind Ive been wondering if there are interlocks built into my mainboard stopping me from using the 'CPU Overclock' function to overclock my pc manually from the set 200Mhz while my HTT is still set at 4x. -I say this as the HTT on my system is 800Mhz for a socket754 Sempron 3000Bx, thus overclocking this would increase my HTT above the 800Mhz threashold (I think) lol. All sounds complex but I think Ive figured it out as Im following instructions from the sticky to lower my HTT multiplier before increasing my cpu overclock. Its hard as my mainboard has Nforce3 chipset which has different ways of overclocking to every other board lol. So far I have managed to increase the overclock, but only when the HTT multiplier is lowered to 3x. I have also lowered my cpu multiplier though, and thus am trying to figure out where my 1810Mhz clock speed has changed to 1630 lol. Will try again now. I want to raise the clock speed above 1810, keeping the HTT lower than 800 and leaving the memory alone at 400DDR lol. Im hoping the memory is seperate as it seems to be on this chipset.

  • [VIA] MSI KT880 Delta-FSR Bios problem

    Hi!
I have MSI KT880 Delta-FSR motherboard. My problem is that about every second time when i start my pc BIOS settings will be factory settings.I have to go to bios and change every settings again away.

I have 120mm fan with my cooler.Temperature of the prosessor is about 44-47 celcius.Cooler is over one year old.
I have 2*512M PC 3200 memory. They are not same brand/make.In start i have one memory stick, 512M/Kingston and the problem was same.
All the answers are good what you are writing but i dont understand how those have an effect my BIOS problem ??Sometimes when i start my pc memory clock fz is 266 and its should be 400.I have to go bios the change it and like i write earlier put the onboard lan and ac97 enable.
I close pc this morning when i goto school. When i come afternoon home and turn my pc on i have this message:
    "Scan devises,please wait...."
Hardware initiate failed, please check device. The bios does not be installed!Press(g) to continue.
Reboot and select proper boot device. When i do that there is only my cd-rom device.I cant choose HDD drive at all.
I shut down the pc and take another computer ( i have 5) bios battery and the pc start at once. Now i have tho follow can the problem be a consequence of that.

  • Neo-FSR BIOS Hang Results from plugging a Sasem OnAir USB-2 Device into USB Port 3

Very surprising.  I've seen this behavior on two distinct Neo-FSRs with 3 distinct BIOSes (v1.2, v1.3, v1.4b4).  Unplugging the Sasem box returned my 2nd Neo-FSR to prompt BIOS POST behavior.
    Anybody seen this?
Please refer to my earlier thread for the details.  I just thought this specific issue deserved a thread of it's own...

According to Windows Compatibility Center that device is not compatible with Win8.1/Win8

  • MSI K8N NEO-FSR BIOS Flash Corrupt

So there was an updated BIOS for my motherboard version 1.8 while I had 1.7. I went ahead and updated and it went fine. But then I noticed that my CPU speed was dramatically reduced and the multiplier was set to 5.0 giving me a 1ghz CPU. While I thought maybe the CMOS needed to be cleared I went ahead and did that but to no avail I wasnt able to fix that problem. I went over to the MSI Live Update to check for a new BIOS update and it had said that I had 1.8 version while the current version is 1.7. Just a few days before it said 1.8 was the latest. Hmmm. So I went off to the MSI website to find version 1.7 and downloaded it. To my surprise version 1.8 was available on the MSI website. I used the WinFlash program to flash my BIOS. Before doing so I closed all open applications including anti-virus, browsers, chatting programs, and so forth. But the flash was going VERY slow and it stopped with unable to verify bios. This made me scared pooless. After I restarted to no surprise my computer started up with BIOS Checksum error and asked for a floppy. I didn't have a floppy drive connected at the time but the computer shut itself off automatically. So I went and connected and floppy and looked up online at the MSI website about how to recover the BIOS. I found it and for my AWARD bios i followed the procedure. But each time it detects the floppy drive and then the computer shuts itself off. Even if i have no disc inside the floppy drive it'll shut off. Is it supposed to do this? I am unable to reflash my BIOS because of this behavior. I don't know what the cause of this problem is now. Did maybe the recovery portion of the BIOS get corrupted too? Please help. Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks in advanced. My specs are below btw:
    MSI K8N NEO FSR
    AWARD REV. 1.8
    AMD ATHLON 3200+ 754
    PDP 2x512MB RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra
    Ultra-X 500watt
WD 160GB IDE, Seagate 200GB IDE
    Pioneer D-A07
Windows XP SP2, Gentoo Linux, Ubuntu Linux

Okay I tried taking unnecessary stuff out but it didn't help. I'm actually having the same problem this guy is having : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=86508.0
Hmm looks like i might be in for a new motherboard or i can try the RMA process but I dont know how long that will take. Other than that...I dont know what to do. I could buy myself a new bios flash chip but they're damn expensive and I'd rather just buy a new motherboard. On another note I noticed that when I boot up the pc and i see that it detects the floppy I immediately pressed the reset button but it'll still shut down. So it's as if there is a timer somewhere. What the hell is up with this? It also seems MSI didn't release bad BIOS releases for my board only. Seems like people with other boards are having tons of problems with the latest BIOS releases.

  • K7n2 delta2 fsr - bios functions APIC & ACPI

Please help me to make a good settings for two functions:
    1. APIC should it be enabled or disabled? (first it was disabled. I turned it on and nothing changed, so i disabled it, but my XP did not boot...)
    2. ACPI what is it for? What is optimal setting for this function...?
Like i wrote before i have problems with optical mouse after turning off the computer, that why i changed that BIOS functions...

Yes, it will perform better, but not in the true meaning of "perform" More like "operate" You will need to re-install in order to enable it properly. There are other ways, to change the HAL but for simplicity's sake and proper operation, a full re-install with these options enabled is highly recommended.
As far as your mouse staying on, this is a function that allows you to start the PC with a keystroke or mouse movement. There are generally two steps in enabling this feature. Some boards have a jumper and BIOS setting Combination in order for it to work. Please refer to the manual for the jumper settings (if any) and look in the BIOS to see if this setting is enabled. I believe it is in Power Management. (been a while since I even bothered with this setting)
You may have this option enabled. If it is enabled the standby voltage is applied to the peripheral devices (keyboard/mouse) that would allow you to start the PC. That is why you still see a light.

Of course I'm overclocking! It's my hoby. My previous board was asus p4s8x-x with 533 FSB, so I moved on a board with 800 FSB, this one...
I must say that I had a better overclock on asus plate so far.... if I'm not halucinating, then this cpu voltage option is missing...
What about flashing back on first or second release of BIOS version?
Still have a hope for sollutions...
    Enjoy!
Well since you don't known what was your provisional BIOS before update, you can try some BIOS version until find where it works.
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=608
Currently you are running latest one 2.0 with this issue, try with 1.9 and re-test if no change 1.8 and so on.

I just flashed BIOS using online update (type AMI, version 07.00T). Now the option CPU vCORE is missing... I tried to flash it back to version 1.00 using boot disk and ran on to problems (doing by the book for winXP returns incorrect drive C:)...
    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Vcore fluctuates on PT880-FSR

Core Center reports my Vcore to fluctuate from 1.520 to 1.54 about every 3 seconds. Is this good or bad? I have overclocked my [email protected] without any voltage tweaks and its stable so far. I plan to overclock more (@3.2) so I would be raising my Vcore. Would the fluctuation matter? Thanks.

I would say it´s normal and should not be any problem.
All differant MoBo models, CPU´s, PSU´s, I have owned always had some fluctation.
The onés I use now have variations between 1.46- 1.52, ( stable mid at 1.5v) and OC:ed with default vcore and measured by speedfan. The values changes every 10-15 sec.
I believe fluctuation is depending on CPU load / thermal and powermanagement / Mobo and PSU powerdelivery
This do not effect any stability or performance what I have noticed.

Sorry, I did not read your MB ID correctly.  According to MSI website, the K8T Nero series does not have the Cell menu.  There may be some 3rd party software that will allow you to change your settings but I am not familiar with any.
