  • How to raise error message from PAI of oops ALV report

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to raise error message form editable oops alv . After entering the data and then press SAVE button .
    Please help.
    Thanks in Advance

    HI SK,
    Write a Local class (Event Handeler) to handel the events. In Editable ALV once the user enter a value, CL_GUI_ALV_GRID will raise an event called DATA_CHANGED.
    1. Define and Implement a local class to handle that event.
    In the implementation of this class you need to get data from imported object to an internal table, then compare the same with the ALV output table.
    * Local Class to handler the events raised from the ALV Grid
    CLASS LCL_EVENT_HANDLER DEFINITION.
    PUBLIC SECTION.
    * Method to handel EDIT event, DATA_CHANGED of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID
      METHODS : ON_DATA_CHANGE FOR EVENT DATA_CHANGED OF CL_GUI_ALV_GRID
                           IMPORTING ER_DATA_CHANGED.
    ENDCLASS.
    * Event handler class Implementation
    CLASS LCL_EVENT_HANDLER IMPLEMENTATION.
      METHOD ON_DATA_CHANGE.
        DATA : LT_MODIFY TYPE LVC_T_MODI,
                   LS_MODIFY TYPE LVC_S_MODI.
    * Copying changed data into intenal table from Object
        LT_MODIFY = ER_DATA_CHANGED->MT_MOD_CELLS.
    * Modifying the ouptut table with the changed values
        IF LT_MODIFY[] IS NOT INITIAL.
              *Compare the ALV Output table with LT_MODIFY
        ENDIF.
      ENDMETHOD.
    ENDCLASS.
    Then raise  a message on required condition in the same method.
    Note: To trigger the above method, you need to set event handler before displaying ALV (before calling method SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY)
    * Creating object for the Local event handler class
      CREATE OBJECT GR_HANDLER.
    * Set handler (call method of Event_handler) to handler Edit event
      SET HANDLER GR_HANDLER->ON_DATA_CHANGE FOR  GR_GRID.

  • How to raise Error Message in foreground through Dynamic Action?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I have to raise an error message in foreground so as to stop processing whenever HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION fails to update a record in a dynamic program. I tried using MESSAGE statement but it did not work, as the error message was not displayed properly on the Infotype screen that calls the dynamic action.
    For ex.: If infotype PA0000 is calling PA0014 through dynamic action, then I want the error message to be displayed on the Actions Screen of PA0000.
    Is there any specific way to raise error messages through dynamic action programs?
    Quick answers will be appreciated.

  • Editable ALV - how to raise errors ?

    Hi,
    I have a screen with some fields.
    And below it I have a custom container with an <b>Editable</b> ALV (<b>Classical</b> ALV).
    since the ALV is editable, the values entered gets validated. and upon finding a wrong entry, If I throw an error <b>from ALV</b>, the transaction aborts. The error is being raised from <b>data_changed_finished event</b>.
    I dont understand the reason why.
    Are you not supposed to raise an error through the ALV ?
    In the Data_Changed event, I chose the  cl_alv_changed_data_protocol object to write logs.
    But what if I need to raise an error else where in the alv flow.. say in user command of the alv.
    Rgds,
    Prashanth.

    Hi raja,
    Exactly like what zhenglin gu said. Error msg is thrown successfully. But if user tries to do anythign following that, like enter some other data or even a simple mouse click on teh alv, it aborts. No warning or message is thrown. it simply aborts.
    And there is nothign specific about the error message.
    Currently i have removed teh code for throwing the error msg.
    But nothing v specific abt it...
    Message e008(/NAM/NAE_MESSAGES).
    Seems like some problem with the way alv and the screen talk to each other or something like that ? Or is there a way to handle this ?
    Rgds,
    Prash.

  • Raising Error message

    Hi all,
    We are using SAP ABAP Web Dynpro Component: RPLM_QIMT_NOTIF_COMP to create notification(IW21). After entering data to create notification screen and press save, we want to do some validations and trough error message to screen and stop saving notifications until errors are fixed. Could someone give us clue how we raise error messages. Rather sample code to raise error messages. Notification is created via portal.
    Rgds,
    Harish

    Hello Harish,
    When the user presses on the save button, an event would be triggered. You can catch this event and perform your validations. Once the validations are done, you can use the FPM message manager to report your error messages. (IF_FPM_MESSAGE_MANAGER). You can instantiate this API in your component and then use the methods from this API to report your messages on the UI.

  • ODI : how to raise cross reference error before loading into Essbase?

    Hi John .. if you read my post, I want to say that you impress me! really, thank for your blog.
    Today, my problem is :
    - I received a bad quality data file from ERP extract
    - I have cross reference table (Source ==> Target)
    - >> How to raise the error before loading into Essbase !
    My Idea is the following, (first of all, I'm not sure if it is a good one, and also I meet issue to do it in ODI !)
    - Step 1 : make JOIN between data.txt and cross-reference Table ==> Create a table DATA_STEP1 in the ODISTAGING schema (the columns of DATA_STEP1 are the addition of columns of data.txt those of cross-references Tables (... there is more than 20 columns in my case)
    - Step 2 : Control if there is no NULL value in the Target Column (NULL means that the data.txt file contains value that are not defined in my cross reference Table) by using Filter ( Filter = Target_Account IS NULL or Target_Entity IS NULL or ...)
    The result of this interface is send to reject.txt file - if reject.txt file is not empty then a mail is sent to the administrator
    - Step 3 : make the opposite : Filter NOT (Target_Account IS NULL or Target_Entity IS NULL ... ) ==> the result is sent in DATA_STEP3 Table
    - Step 4 : run properly the mapping : source : DATA_STEP3 (the clean and verified data !) with cross reference Tables and send data into Essbase - NORMALY, there is not rejected record !
    My main problem is : what is the right IKM to send data into the DATA_STEP1, or DATA_STEP3 Table, which are Oracle Table in my ODISTAGING Schema ! I thy with IKM Oracle Incremental Update but I get error, and actually I don't need an update (which is time consumming), I just need an INSERT !
    I'm just lookiing for an 'IKM SQL to Oracle" ....
    regards
    xavier

    Thanks john : very speed !
    I understood better now which IKM is useful.
    I found other information about the error followup with ODI : http://blogs.oracle.com/dataintegration/2009/10/did_you_know_that_odi_generate.html
    and I decided to activate Integrity Constorl in ODI :
    I load :
    - data.txt in ODITEMP.T_DATA
    - transco_account.csv in ODITEMP.T_TRANSCO_ACCOUNT
    - transco_entity.csv in ODITEMP.T_TRANSCO_ENTITY
    - and so on ...
    - Moreover I create integrity constraints between T_DATA and T_TRANSCO_ACCOUNT and T_TRANSCO_ENTITY ... so I expected that ODI will raise for me in E$_DATA (the error table) the bad records !
    However I have one issue when loading data.txt into T_DATA because I have no ID or Primary Key ... I read in a training book that I could use a SEQUENCE ... I try but unsuccessful ... :-(
    Is there another simple way to create a Primary Key automaticaly (T_DATA is in an oracle Schema of course) ?thanks in advance

    raise 9021.

    Hi Nick
    You need to define the exception 9021 for the method and then you use the macro EXIT_RETURN as below

    APPS.CE_999_PKG.unclear
    i would like to check and if meet certain condition, i would like to raise error/exception, so that the Reconcile or UnReconcile can not proceed, how can I do that?
    i try to do a plsql 'raise exception', in ebs screen, show

    anyway to show the error msg in a popup msg box and/or display with more meaningful error message?

    Hi Brian,
    This is because, one payment/receipt cannot be shared by more than one bank statement line. This is why once payment/receipt is reconciled against a bank statement line, you can view this transaction only from reconciled screen.

    I went through the command but cannot find any clause which will do this.
    Is there any other way or workaround?I looked at Serverprocess' sql*loader script and did not see how that would answer your question - how to raise an error if the file has more than 2 columns. If I missed something can Serverprocess explain?
    I can't think of a direct way to do this with your external table either, but there may be indirect ways. Some brainstorming ideas of perhaps dubious usefulness follow.
    Placing a view over the external table can limit results to the first two columns but won't raise an error.
    A pipelined function can read the external table, check for data where there shouldn't be any, and raise an exception when you find data in columns where there should not be any.
    Similarly, you could ditch the external table and use utl_file to read the file, manually parsing and checking the data. LOTS more work but more control on your end. External tables are much easer to use :(
    Or, first load the external table into a work table before the "real" select. Check the work table for the offending data programatically and raise an error if data is where it should not be. You could keep the existing external table and not have to do a lot of recoding.
    Or, also load the data into an otherwise unneeded global temporary table first. Use a trigger on the load to look for the unwanted data and raise an error if offending data is there
    These ideas are boiling down to variations on validating the data before you use it.
    Good luck!

  • Function as Attribute in SQL raising error

    I have a problem
    I have a stored procedure 'test_p' and a function 'test_sub'. The Stored Procedure 'test_p' calls function 'test_sub' from a SQL. What I'd like to have is the error from the function to be raised to the 'parent' stored procedure. What happens is, the error occurs in the function. The SQL will therefore not be executed, but code in the stored procedure after the sql will still be executed. It seems that errors from a function called in a sql won't have any impacts to the errorhandling in the stored procedure. Besides that the value of the variable v_errorcode in the stored procedure after the call to the function is still 0 event tough i fill the variable in the exception case in the function.
    Anybody has an idea how to raise the error from the underlying function to the stored procedure and whats wrong why the value of the variable v_errorcode in the stored procedure is still 0 after the function call ?
    Appreciated urs

    Call your Function independently.In your code FUNCTION

    error getting raised.
    In your code change
    open p_ref_cur for select test_sub('E') as tee from dual;

    Now call your procedure and you will find the correct results which you are expecting.

  • Best Practices Question: How to send error message to SSHR web page.

    Best Practices Question: How to send error message to SSHR web page from custom PL\SQL procedure called by SSHR workflow.
    For the Manager Self-Service application we’ve copied various workflows which were modified to meet business needs. Part of this exercise was creating custom PL\SQL Package Procedures that would gather details on the WF using them on custom notification sent by the WF.
    What I’m looking for is if/when the PL\SQL procedure errors, how does one send an failure message back and display it on the SS Page?
    Writing information into a log or table at the database level works for trouble-shooting, but we’re looking for something that will provide the end-user with an intelligent message that the workflow has failed.
    Thanks ahead of time for your responses.
    Rich

    We have implemented the same kind of requirement long back.
    We have defined our PL/SQL procedures with two OUT parameters
    1) Result Type (S:Success, E:Error)
    2) Result Message
    In the PL/SQL procedure we always use below construct when we want to raise any message
    hr_utility.set_message(APPL_NO, 'FND_MESSAGE_NAME');
    hr_utility.raise_error;
    In Exception block we write below( in successful case we just set the p_result_flag := 'S';)
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN APP_EXCEPTION.APPLICATION_EXCEPTION THEN
    p_result_flag := 'E';
    p_result_message := hr_utility.get_message;
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    p_result_flag := 'E';
    p_result_message := hr_utility.get_message;
    fnd_message.set_name('PER','FFU10_GENERAL_ORACLE_ERROR');
    fnd_message.set_token('2',substr(sqlerrm,1,200));
    fnd_msg_pub.add;
    p_result_message := fnd_msg_pub.get_detail;
    After executing the PL/SQL in java
    We have written some thing similar to
    orclStmt.execute();
    OAExceptionUtils.checkErrors (txn);
    String resultFlag = orclStmt.getString(provide the resultflag bind no);
    if ("E".equalsIgnoreCase(resultFlag)){
    String resultMessage = orclStmt.getString(provide the resultMessage bind no);
    orclStmt.close();
    throw new OAException(resultMessage, OAException.ERROR);
    It safely shows the message to the user with all the data in the page.
    We have been using this construct for a long time for all our projects. They are all working as expected.
    Regards,
    Peddi.
