How to read an inputStream in UTF-8 into a byte array.

Hi, Java version is 1.4.2. If inputStream.read() is used to read the bytes into a byte array, is it guarenteed that UTF-8 chars are correctly transferred into byte array? Or should we use InputStreamReader? An example would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

I would like to send a byte array read from InputStream to another app where they are converted to UTF-8. In brief
-Read input stream which comes in UTF-8 into a byte array
-Send byte array to another app which will convert it into UTF-8 characters

  • How to create an inputStream of UTF-8 encoding for a bufferedReader

    Hi all,
    I would like to ask if an inputStream of UTF-8 encoding can be created?
    I have a function
    boolean load(InputStream in){ ....} which has code
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in));
    but this function cannot be changed, how to make sure the inputStream is UTF-8 or there's no such method?
    Thanks so much!

  • How to read data from an internal table into a real table?

    Hello experts,
    I'm relatively new to ABAP and I'm trying to figure out how to read data from an internal table into a table that I created.  I'm trying to use the RRW3_GET_QUERY_VIEW_DATA function module to read data from a multiprovider.  I'm trying to read data from the e_cell_data and e_axis_data tables into a table that I've already created.  Please see code below.
    TABLES MULTITAB.
    DATA:
      query_name TYPE RSZCOMPID,
      s_cubename TYPE RSINFOPROV,
      t_cell_data TYPE RRWS_T_CELL,
      t_axis_data TYPE RRWS_THX_AXIS_DATA,
      t_axis_info TYPE RRWS_THX_AXIS_INFO,
      wa_t_cell_data like line of t_cell_data,
      wa_t_axis_data like line of t_axis_data,
      w_corp_tab like line of t_cell_data.
    s_cubename = 'CORP_MPO1'.
    query_name = 'Z_corp_test'.
        CALL FUNCTION 'RRW3_GET_QUERY_VIEW_DATA'
           EXPORTING
             i_infoprovider           = s_cubename
             i_query                  = query_name
            i_t_parameter            = query_string_tab
           IMPORTING
             e_cell_data              = t_cell_data
             e_axis_data              = t_axis_data
             e_axis_info              = t_axis_info.
    If anyone has any information to help me, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

    Hi,
    <li>Once you call the function module RRW3_GET_QUERY_VIEW_DATA, lets say data is available in the corresponding tables e_cell_data e_axis_data which you have mentioned.
    <li>Modify your internal table defined for other purpose, with data from e_cell_data e_axis_data like below.
    LOOP AT t_cell_data INTO wa_t_cell_data.
      "Get the required data from t_cell_data.
      MOVE-CORRESPONDING wa_t_cell_data TO it_ur_tab.
      "Modify your internal table wih data
      MODIFY it_ur_tab TRANSPORTING <field1> <field2> <field3>.
    ENDLOOP.
    LOOP AT t_axis_data INTO wa_t_axis_data.
      "Get the required data from t_cell_data.
      MOVE-CORRESPONDING wa_t_axis_data TO it_ur_tab.
      "Modify your internal table wih data
      MODIFY it_ur_tab TRANSPORTING <field1> <field2> <field3>.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Reading in any file and converting to a byte array

    Okay what I am trying to do is to write a program that will read in any file and convert it into a int array so that I can then manipulate the values of the int array and then re-write the file. Once I get the file into an int array I want to try and compress the data with my own algorithm as well as try to write my own encryption algorithm.
    What I have been looking for is code samples that essentially read in the file as a byte array and then I have been trying to convert that byte array into an int array which I could then manipulate. So does anyone have any sample code that essentially takes a file and converts it into an int array and then converts it back into a byte array and write the file. I have found code that is close but I guess I am just too new to this. Any help would be appreciated.

    You can read a whole file into a byte array like this:File f = new File("somefile");
    int size = (int) f.length();
    byte[] contents = new byte[size];
    DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(
                              new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(f)));
    in.readFully(contents);
    in.close();Note that you need to add in the proper exception handling code. You could also use RandomAccessFile instead of the DataInputStream.
    Writing a byte array to a file is easier; just construct the FileOutputStream, call write on it with the byte array, and close the stream.

  • How to add 16 bit message sequential number to the byte array

    hi
    iam trying to implement socket programming over UDP. Iam writing for the server side now.I need to send an image file from server to a client via a gateway so basically ive to do hand-shaking with the gateway first and then ive to send image data in a sequence of small messages with a payload of 1 KB.The data message should also include a header of 16 bit sequential number and a bit to indicate end of file.
    Iam able to complete registration process(Iam not sure yet).I dnt know how to include sequential number and a bit to indicate end of file.
    I would like to have your valuable ideas about how to proceed further

    HI Rolf.k.
    Thank you for the small program it was helpfull.
    You got right about that proberly there  will be conflict with some spurios data, I can already detect that when writing the data to a spreadsheet file.
    I writes the data in such a way, that in each line there will be a date, a timestamp, a tab and a timestamp at the end. That means two columns.
    When i set given samplerate up, that controls the rate of the data outflow from the device, (1,56 Hz - 200 Hz),   the data file that i write to , looks unorderet.
     i get more than one timestamp and severel datavalues in every line and so on down the spreadsheet file.
    Now the question is: Could it be that the function that writes the data to the file,  can't handle the speed of the dataflow in such a way that the time stamp cant follow with the data flowspeed. so i'm trying to set the timestamp to be  with fractions of the seconds by adding the unit (<digit>) in the timestamp icon but its not working. Meaby when i take the fractions off a second within the timestamp i can get every timestamp with its right data value. Am i in deeb water or what do You mean!??

    to show user's password to the user as a string as

    Tell me if any body know how to get the string

    after seeing my existing encryption code.It is impossible to retrieve the original text out of a signature.
    You should read up on some encryption basics in order to understand the difference between signing and encrypting. Then you can find examples of how to encrypt something here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/security/jce/JCERefGuide.html.
    Actually there is one class specifically for keeping keys secure, KeyStore http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/java/security/KeyStore.html

  • Read words from a text file into an undefined array

    Dear all,
    Does anyone know how to read words in text file, seperated by all types of spaces ("_", "\n", "\t","\r","\f") and put them into a string array to be used later?
    So far I can read the words using the Tokenizer but can't assign to array:
    public class reader
    StringTokenizer tokenizer = new StringTokenizer(input);
    String[ ] array= null;  //unknown size of array
    int i=0;
                   while(tokenizer.hasMoreTokens())
                             array[i] = tokenizer.nextToken();
                             i++;
    Any suggestions welcome!
    thanks in advance!

    Hi
    sorry wrote in a hurry ;) din c the problem clearly
    there are two approaches
    1) best approach for your problem is Vector or ArrayList, these would make life easy for you.
    Always collections are better approach over arrays when the size is dynamic. However in your case the size cant be said to be DYNAMIC. coz the number of words will not grow / shrink during the runtime.. i know that number of words are not fixed but dynamic is something which will grow/shrink during runtime. but still collection is better approach.
    2)dirty approach
    use double dimensional array
    String arr[][] = null;
    then use one tokenizer for StringTokenizer(str,"\n");
    using countTokens on this will give you number of lines.
    use this to initialize array
    arr = new String[lineCount][];
    then iterate from 1 to lineCount and use 1 more tokenizer to get number of words for that line. use this number to initialize the column size for arr[i] like
    arr[i] = new String[wordCount];
    then store the token using nested for loops in this array
    go for the 1st one ;) 2nd one is hedious n time consuming but both will work ;)
    cheers
    amey

  • How to read the data file and write into the same file without a temp table

    Hi,
    I have a requirement as below:
    We are running lockbox process for several business, but for a few businesses we have requirement where in we receive a flat file in different format other than how the transmission format is defined.
    This is a 10.7 to 11.10 migration. In 10.7 the users are using a custom table into which they are first loading the raw data and writing a pl/sql validation on that and loading it into a new flat file and then running the lockbox process.
    But in 11.10 we want to restrict using temp table how can we achieve this.
    Can we read the file first and then do validations accordingly and then write to the same file and process the lockbox.
    Any inputs are highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lakshmi Kalyan Vara Prasad.

    Hello Gurus,
    Let me tell you about my requirement clearly with an example.
    Problem:
    i am receiving a dat file from bank in below format
    105A371273020563007 07030415509174REF3178503 001367423860020015E129045
    in this detail 1 record starting from 38th character to next 15 characters is merchant reference number
    REF3178503 --- REF denotes it as Sales Order
    ACC denotes it as Customer No
    INV denotes it as Transaction Number
    based on this 15 characters......my validation comes.
    If i see REF i need to pick that complete record and then fill that record with the SO details as per my system and then submit the file for lockbox processing.
    In 10.7 they created a temporary table into which they are loading the data using a control file....once the data is loaded into the temporary table then they are doing a validation and updating the record exactly as required and then creating one another file and then submitting the file for lockbox processing.
    Where as in 11.10 they want to bypass these temporary tables and writing it into a different file.
    Can this be handled by writing a pl/sql procedure ??
    My findings:
    May be i am wrong.......but i think .......if we first get the data into ar_payments_interface_all table and then do the validations and then complete the lockbox process may help.
    Any suggestions from Oracle GURUS is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lakshmi Kalyan Vara Prasad.
