    Are you already familiar with Java Programming -
    or do you just want to demo webcam over the LAN
    If the latter, then install JRE 1.4.2 AND JMF2.1.1 (performance pack) on all machines that you want to use
    You can then run JMStudio on a machine with a webcam & make that transmit into the LAN (choose a multicast/broadcast IP)
    On several of your other machine you van run JMStudio to receive that broadcast & display
    If you want to program all this up for yourselves
    there's lots of code examples if you search
    and read through most of the JMF documentation
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/reference/api/index.html
    Start with a simple app that gets the webcam and can display it locally
    Make sure that you use a cloneableDataSource
    Vector vCDs = CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null); //     get Devices supported
    Iterator iTCams = vCDs.iterator();
    while(iTCams.hasNext())
    CaptureDeviceInfo cDI = (CaptureDeviceInfo)iTCams.next();
    if(cDI.getName().startsWith("vfw:"))
    try{
    MediaLocator mL = cDI.getLocator();
    DataSource dS = Manager.createCloneableDataSource(Manager.createDataSource(mrl));
    Player player = Manager.createPlayer(dS);
    player.realize();
    build a 'Transmit' button into your GUI from which you can get a clone of the Datasource & establish an RTP session to broadcast into the LAN
    AGAIN you can use JMStudio as a receiver for test purposes
    Following that you can build a Receiver application

  • How can i use shoutcast streams on windows phone?

    I have an idea to make an application but i don't know how to use shoutcast streams in windows phone ? Is there any API or something that i need to fallow?
    Alican

    At the moment Shoutcast audio streams are not supported natively in Windows Phone. You will need to write a self implementation of IMediaStreamSource to parse the audiostream and also handle the http connections to the streaming server.
    Another solution is to use a third party implementation such as www.jupitersdk.com.
    It offers a well documented API, is easy to integrate and use into your project and there is a trial version for testing purposes.
    Jupiter Sdk has successfully been used in several RadioStreaming apps which can be found in the Windows Phone Store. By the way, it allows not only to play Shoutcast and Icecast audiostreams in Windows Phone 8.1, but also to retrieve the stream metadata (i.e.
    current Title and Artist), among other interesting features.
    Disclaimer: I am a member of the Jupiter Sdk Development Team. For information and support you can use the contact form at www.jupitersdk.com

    To the OP,
    BTW, I have reread the Javadoc about the [*API*|http://commons.apache.org/net/api/org/apache/commons/net/ftp/FTPClient.html] : indeed, there's no setTimeout method, but there is a setDataTimeout method : +Sets the timeout in milliseconds to use when reading from the data connection+ .

  • How to read file from remote machine

    Hello,
    Hi, i would like to know how to read text file from remote machine using java source code, any code ?
    Thanks very much;
    Best regards
    Kim

    On the server, perform the following steps:
    Parse the request and determine the file to serve
    Open a FileInputStream to the appropriate file
    Obtain a reference to the Servlet OutputStream
    Pipe the bytes from the file to the output stream
    Flush and close the streamYou might want to call HttpServletResponse.setContentType("application/octet") to indicate to the browser that a file download will be occurring. Do so before getting the reference to the Servlet's OutputStream.

    The simplest way that I know of would be to use 'navigateToURL()' and let the user to print the pdf from the browser.
    Does anyone have the advice on doing this within the Flex app; i.e. without opening a new browser window?

    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/index.html
    package java.io
    InputStream.read(): int
    Reads the next byte of data from the input stream.
    Implementation:
    InputStreamReader
    An InputStreamReader is a bridge from byte streams to character streams: It reads bytes and decodes them into characters using a specified charset. The charset that it uses may be specified by name or may be given explicitly, or the platform's default charset may be accepted.

    The >> operator reads a value corresponding to the target type. For example, to read an integer value, read it into an int variable (or long or long long, depending on the integer range).
    The >> operator skips white space (blanks, tabs, newlines) and then reads characters corresponding to the target type: digits for an integer value, for example. It stops at the first character that cannot be in the representation of the type. If no characters are read, the stream goes into an error state, and further I/O requests are ignored until you clear the stream state.
    You can read each group of data like this:
    std::string first, last;
    int number;
    dataFile >> first >> last >> number;If the data doesn't have the right characteristics, the stream will go into an error state, which you can detect by testing the stream directly:
    if( dataFile ) ...Using EOF as the loop control is not a good idea, since if there is an error, the loop will never terminate. You can do something like this:
    while( dataFile ) {
        std::string first, last;
        int number;
        dataFile >> first >> last >> number;
        if( dataFile ) {
            // ... add first, last, number to the data structure
    } Reading past EOF puts the stream in an error state, so checking the stream state before saving the data and in the loop control will do the trick.
    You can use a char array instead of a string for the names, but then you have to add extra testing to be sure you don't overflow the array, and deal with the extra characters you don't read. Strings will expand as needed. The string is declared as a local variable in the loop, so it gets re-initialized each time through; you don't need to write code to reset it.
    My example loop is not robust in the face of errors. Stream I/O works fine when you know the input data is well-formed. It is not suited to input that can be wrong, such as data typed from the terminal, because it is not easy to validate the input and recover from errors.

    You generally can't tell with Stream how many bytes are going to be available. You could download the whole thing into a ByteBuffer, for example, and process it from there.
    Or you can try opening an http connection explicitly (using URL and casting the connection to HttpURLConnection and see if there's a "Content-length" header.
