How to record a drum track on logic pro

how to record a drum track on logic pro

• What midi interface is it? Do you have a current driver? If everything is alright, GB should say (in the Prefs) "1 midi device detected".
• Do you have the midi cables connected the right way? Connect the drum machine's midi out with the interface's midi in.

  • How do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please

how do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please. my version is 7.2.3 and my son did his drums on 4 tracks. 2 OH's 1 Kick and 1 Snare. Were confused because we cant figure out how to do parallel compression on the older logic version 7.2.3?

I can't remember when the Aux tracks became the new buss tracks, so I'll spell this out using busses.
The way I do it, is I assign all my drum tracks to a buss, say buss 1.
Then, on buss 2, I assign it's INPUT to buss 1.
So buss 1 (all the drums) are feeding into buss 2 simultaneously.
Put a compressor on buss 2, turn the fader down all the way, then as the track is playing, bring buss 2's fader up slowly, until you hear the effect you're after.
You could also do this using sends on the 4 drum tracks, set to feed the buss with the compressor on it.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything particular to that version of Logic. See if this helps...

  • What's a good interface to record voice/guitar tracks in Logic Pro

Hello - could you tell me what would be a good interface to record voice/guitar into a Logic Pro project please?  Thanks.

re the firmware update - there is talk that this should only be done if you are going to use USB - and also that it needs to be done via Windows.........I am confused re this?
I don't know about that, I don't own a Phonic, but if you only have to do it for USB, well, then there's no problem and you don't have to do anything, so...
Also when you say DAW (what does that stand for?
Digital Audio Workstation; Logic, Cubase, Protools etc are all DAWs. You'll probably encounter this term once in a while...
I just want to make sure and sorry if i sound silly but I should be able to use Phonic as my interface with Logic Pro without using Cubase?
    Yes.

  • How do I normalise an audio track in Logic Pro

I would like to know how to normalise an audio track in Logic Pro X in order to increase the volume level to limit of say 0dB.

When you bounce your song out there is a normalise box you can tick.
No one really does it though as it has way more detrimental affects than it has positives. You can also do it through the sample edit window, if, for some reason, you wanted to normalise a single track in your multi track recording.
oh, ps, make sure you have all the advanced features ticked in Logic X preferences.

  • How do I burn a recorded track, on logic pro?

How do I burn a recorded track, on logic pro?

    Bad?
I am far from an expert at Logic, but I found making a .wav file or .MP3 file fairly easy.
Using the edit menj, I select all the tracts in my arrnage window.  Having done that I bounce the selected tract to my audio hard drive, having named it.
I can then import that audio file and others into Itunes and then burn a list of compositions onto a CD.
There must be several variations on that process but that one works well for me.

  • Recording drum tracks in Logic using Groove Agent 2 or 3

I'm trying to record some drum tracks using Grove Agent 3. I can hear the drums and see the meter jumping but there is no recording. Help please

Logic cannot record Groove Agrnt's MIDI output, I can't remember whether it's
AUi or Logic that isn't developed to that point yet. I know it's in the AUi spec
but don't think Logic has that capability.
If it's audio you want to record, solo and "Bounce" the Groove Agent instrument
track. That will get you an audio recording. Cubase makes it a bit easier as it
will record Groove Agent's MIDI output for editing purposes before
    bouncing/exporting.

  • How do I get a video track in Logic Pro 9?

I'm trying to sync a video I have recorded in Photo Booth with the music I recorded via my mixer into Logic Pro 9.
I have tried dragging the video into Logic and it only gives me options like bring in the audio (also another issue is that the audio has a locked symbol and won't let me drag it to the beginning).
The video does not show up in a track, it does appear at the very far left but if I try to play it, it is just a couple of frames juddering over and over again. I have also tried opening the video in Quicktime and saving as a .m4v instead of a .mov and dragging in to Logic but this did not work either. I have also tried the Open Movie option under the File menu instead of dragging but this doesn't work either.
I can do this easily in Garageband, but I cant save in Logic as a .band file. I have looked for instruction videos on Youtube but those videos start with the video automatically showing in a track. I have looked under Global Tracks but it still does not show. What can I do to get this to work?
    Thanks.

No, you do not need to change it back, "Settings" are not global, they're per project. "Preferences" are Global and affect all projects.
Logic defaults to a "standard" 1 hour SMPTE preset, personally I think it's more confusing since more users are not professional (ie: experienced) so they don't realize why the video isn't showing.
You need to read the manual regarding video, unless you use the manual to it's best advantage you will only end up using a few percent of Logic's features..

The Mantra is.... Logic is not Garageband, GB is user friendly with far less options, Logic is professional software and expects the user to up their game. (a good thing, imho)

  • How long does it takes to install Logic Pro x

Can anyone tell me how long does it takes to install Logic Pro x?

You need to drop the Logic Pro x icon into applications, this will then install onto the machine, once installed click on Logic Pro X icon, application will start to download in a matter of minutes, the blue bar will be visible showing the download progress.
When the application is fully installed you can then download all the additional instruments if required.

  • How do i connect my MIDI to Logic Pro?

How do i connect my MIDI to Logic Pro?

You can always open audio/midi setup to troubleshoot midi or audio interface problems.
Go to applications -> Utilities -> Audio Midi Setup.
Then you may have to go to Window -> Show Midi Window.
You can test your setup and add or remove devices.

  • How to record V-Drums in Logic Express?

I’m trying to record my V-Drums through the M-Audio 2626 interface into Logic Express. I’m able to trigger sounds in the Logic Express library when I conned the MIDI-out on the V-drums to the M-Audio.
But I’d like to record the Roland drum sounds through Logic. Has anyone had success with this?
I tried connecting the audio out from the V-drums into channel 1 on the M-Audio with a 1/4-inch instrument cable. I can hear the drum kit through the M-Audio via the headphone jack, but not through Logic Express.
If anyone has successfully recorded Roland V-drums in Logic, any information would be helpful.
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
you're on the right way. You have to create an audio track in Logic (one for each output of the drums or simply a stereo track for the drum's stereo output - depending on your configuration).
    1. Select the appropriate channel of your M-Audio as the audio track's input
    2. Click the little red "R" to arm this track for recording or press the littel "I" to activate input monitoring for rehearsal.
    3. Start recording and there you are.
    4. Don't forget: Have fun!

  • How do I record multiple midi instruments in Logic Pro simultaneously on separate tracks?sim

Hi. I am trying to record multiple midi instruments simultaneously into Logic Pro 9 through a MOTU USB Fas Lane so that it is similar to recording a live band.
    Essentially:
Track 1: Midi Keyboard - Motu Fast Lane Input A - Logic Pro - Software Instrument (Absynth)
Track 2: Midi Drum Kit - Motu Fast Lane Input B - Logic Pro - Software Instrument (Battery)
Neither Midi device can be set to a separate channel.
I would have thought this was a really common application (recoding from multiple live midi sources like a band would normally do) yet it seems unnecessarily complicated.
I gather what I would have to do involves:
    1) Going into the Environment.
    2) Creating a Physical Input
    3) Creating a Sequencer Input
    4) Placing a transofrmer between the Physical Input and the Sequencer Input
Where to go ffrom there I have not got a clue!
    Any help would be appreciated.
Incidentally I would also like to record two audio tracks at the same time as the midi track, but hoepfully that does not complicate things further.
    Thanks,
    Luke

I have it set to Performance mode which according to the owners manual: "This mode makes the XP-30 function as a multitimbral sound
source, and Performance settings can be modified. If you’re
using an external MIDI device to control the XP-30 in this
mode, it will function as a multitimbral sound source."

  • Is there a way to show/reveal the piano roll (or score) from a midi input when recording an audio track in Logic 9?

I'm trying to record audio tracks in Logic 9 over midi tracks I've created using a software instrument.  I've done this before, and there used to be a no problem in seeing the midi information in the piano roll or the score while recording audio tracks, but it now impossible to reveal.  Has ayone else exerienced this?  Was there a change (update) that eliminated that as an option?  Or did I do something in preferences somewhere (unbeknownst to me when doing it) that has caused this?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Just open the piano roll fro the regions you want and deselect the chain icon at the upper left.
