How to redirect "-verbose" Java Runtime Parameter setting to text file

Simple question: I am adding a "-verbose" Java Runtime Parameter in the Java Applet Runtime Settings of the Java Control Panel. When I run my applet, a Windows console opens which outputs all the method calls, classes, and jar file information. How can I redirect this output to a text file?
I noticed Xloggc:+filename+ but there does not seem to be an equivalent for redirecting the '-verbose' output to a file.
Thanks!

Thank you both for the reply, but unfortunately that is not quite what I am looking for. The console Window I am talking about is a DOS console screen, not the Java Console
What I am really after here is the ability to redirect a thread dump of a running applet to a text file. When the applet is active, and the "-verbose" parameter is set in the Java Runtime Parameters", I can see all the classes, methods etc. being loaded in the DOS window. Hitting Ctrl-Break at that point will produce a thread dump in the DOS console screen. I would like to be able to redirect THAT output to a text file. It is not in the Java Console. To me it looks like tracing and logging are only for the Java Console, no?
Thanks again for your help.

  • Multiple Users on one PC sharing Java Runtime Parameter setting

    Is there a way to have mutiple logins share the -Smx512m setting in Java Runtime Parameters. It seems that when each person logs into the PC to use the application we have to enter the same Java Runtime Parametes again. Is there a way to add it once and every login uses it?
    Thanks,
    DLS

    I have read the Deployment Configuration file and Properties and do not see how the -Xmx51m should be added to the deployment.properties.
    Also it would seem you would need to use the deployment.system.config file so it would be used by all users on the PC.
    Again I can not see an example of how to put in the "Java Runtime Parameters" in the deployment.system.properties file.
    Has anyone done this before and could lead me in the correct directions?
    Thanks,

  • Java runtime parameter (-classpath)

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to programmatically set the java-runtime-parameters?
    I need to set them to: "-classpath c:\jar\test.jar"
    My goal is to access test.jar thru the ActiveX Bridge, and test.jar is not inside the "applet" folder (nor the "ext" folder). Note: ActiveX bridge uses the java plug-in which has a default path to the applet folder, I need to programmatically set a java-runtime-parameter "-classpath" to c:\jar\test.jar...
    (I know that you can set the java-runtime-parameters thru control panel - java plug-in, but this will not work for what I am doing, I need to do it on the fly programmatically).
    Gene.

    People I have tried this after trying all that I could fine on the internet,
    What did not work is as follows:
    1) Setting "-Xmx512m", where "512" should be replaced by 3/4 of the system
    physical memory size.
    2) Also enable "<APPLET> tag support" for Internet Explorer. Apply settings.
    This worked for some.
    3) Also tried uncheking the box for <APPLET> but that was not to work.
    "What --WORKED-- for me at last was:"
    1. Uninstall Internet Explorer 7.
    2. Restart System.
    3. Uninstall Java 1,5 with Update 9(that was installed)
    4. Install Java version 1.5 with upgrade 5 from the link:
    http://www.tucows.com/preview/194327
    5. Then go to Start, Run, type
    iexplore
    and hit Enter.
    Try the sites now.. It works:)
    6. Then disable update for Java in Control panel. (Also do not update IE or
    JAVA after that)
    Hope this help ya all!!!

  • How to redirect in java code not the jsp or any other

    hello
    can any one help me how to redirect in java pages the code must be in java function not in jsp or any thing else
    thanks in advance

    Function? Don't you rather mean method?
    Anyway, in JSF you can send a redirect using ExternalContext#redirect(). If your JSF environment is on top of JSP/Servlet, then under the hood it basically invokes HttpServletResponse#sendRedirect() and FacesContext#responseComplete().

    I know if we use UTL_FILE.get_line we can read the whole line...but i need to read the tab separated value separately.....If it's a text file then UTL_FILE will only allow you to read it a line at a time. It is then up to you to split that string up (search for split string on this forum for methods) into it's individual components.
    If the text file contains a standard structure on each line, i.e. it is a fixed delimited structure, then you could use external tables to read the data instead.

  • How can we generate the reports in html or text file formats?

    Hi,
    Is there any package that can help in creating HTMLDB reports in .txt files or .html files? (Similar to TEXT_IO in Oracle Forms)
    How can we generate the reports in html or text file formats from HTMLDB?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello all.
    Bi Publisher is great, but has a very high price tag. It's even more expensive than Forms & Reports Services. We are considering APEX to replace Forms & Reports on the web, but the reporting limitations are still a problem.
    I wonder if there is another option.
    Thanks

  • How do I export/import keyboard shortcuts to a text file

    How do I export/import keyboard shortcuts to a text file?
    It would be nice to export them, edit and/or add to them in a text editor on my iMac, then import them back into iPhone and iPad.

    You can backup the bookmarks to a file, then copy that file to the new computer and import them, for details see [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]].
    You can copy more than just the bookmarks. The user data, such as bookmarks and passwords, are stored in the profile folder. You can copy the data manually by copying the contents of the profile folder, for details see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup Profile backup - MozillaZine Knowledge Base] or [[Backing up your information]].
    There are some add-ons and utilities that can make this process easier. The first one is the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/ FEBE] add-on which can be used to copy a profile. Another option is the free [http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ MozBackup] utility.

  • Java 2d to read a text file containing vrml

    Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can get have 2d to read a text file such as one in vrml.
    How would I go about doing this as right now i have 2 files which i want to integrate, a 2d plan and a vrml correspondant.
    Thanks in advance

    You pretty much posted this same question yesterday. You know you need to use String.split(). Why don't you give it a try and let us know what you did?
    I'm pretty sure you'll need to form your regular expression as "~#^\\$", because $ has special meaning inside a search expression.
    Oh, and please use the code tag when posting code.

  • How to Use Multiple Java Runtimes

    Hi,
    I have installed two JRE versions (1.2.2 and 1.4.0_01) in my Machine (Windows platform).
    (The default if 1.2.2 as it was installed later)
    I want to run an application in either of the above JRE's. To do so...
    If I want to run the application on 1.2.2
    I use C:\jdk1.2.2\bin\java MyApplication
    If I want to run the application on 1.4
    I use C:\jdk1.4\bin\java MyApplication
    Basically I am hardcoding the path where the "java" executable lies..
    Now my question is, Is this the correct/only way to use different JRE's?? Is there any other cleaner way to use multiple java runtimes??
    There is some parameter for "java.exe" where we can set version
    like "java -Dversion=1.4.0_01". Can this be helpful??
    Thanks in advance
    Hiten

    You could use DOS environment variables to define the jre path to use.

  • How Do I RemovE Java Runtime Environment?

    I have just updated software on my iMac. The software update included an update to Java.
    Since updating, I am unable to open Limewire P2P programme. I have reinstalled Limewire several times but still not working.
    Tech support at Limewire have advised me to uninstall Java Runtime Environment and reinstall.
    Can anyone advise how to do this please?
    thanks

    The newest version of Limewire, version 5, will only run on a Core 2 Duo, with Java SE 6 for Mac installed. Java SE 6 is 64 bit, hence the need for a C2D. Java SE 6 is not activated by default when it is installed.
    It can be activated with the Java Preferences app in Apps/Utlities, in the General pane. Drag Java SE 6 to the top of the 2 lists to make it active. I had to restart and then install Limewire 5 before I could get it to work.

  • How to refresh/apply column value default setting on current files or folders

    Hi All
    I have set-up default column data per folder in my library (via
    Library Settings > Column default settings) and it works great for new documents or folders that are added to the library.
    But what do I do if I have an existing Library with folders and files and need to apply default column data to each? Is there a way of "refreshing" the default columns so that the data is populated through a specific folder and/or its sub-folders?
    (I really hope this is an easy fix or just a setting that I over-looked somewhere!)
    Thank you!

    I had to do this as well recently, and remembered your post.
    Here is the function I wrote , this worked for text, choice, and metadata columns
    It is pretty slow and could be optimized and broken up into more functions, but I had to do several things:
    1. I mass-updated the content types in a library
    2. On Library settings : set default values and also different defaults per folder
    3. For each file I then needed to:
    3.a. either copy the value from a column in the old content type to the new, or
    3.b. set the column to the default
    so this function does step 3, like I said it works for certain types of columns and can be sped up (I used it to update 700 files in a couple minutes), and it makes some assumptions about the environment but this at least is a starting point.
    As Alex said you may want to change SystemUpdate($true) to just Update(), depending on your requirements.
    <#
    .SYNOPSIS
    Resets columns in a document library to defaults for blank columns. Use this
    after changing the content types or adding columns to a doc lib with existing files
    .DESCRIPTION
    Resets columns in a doc lib to their defaults. Will only set them if the columns are blank (unless overridden)
    Will also copy some values from one column to another while you are there.
    Can restrict the update to a subset of columns, or have it look for all columns with defaults.
    Will use the list defaults as well as folder defaults.
    All names of columns passed in should use InternalName.
    This has ONLY been tested on Text, Choice, Metadata, and mult-Choice and Mult-Metadata columns
    Pass in a list and it will recursively travel down the list to update all items with the defaults for the items in that folder.
    If you call it on a folder, it will travel up the tree of folders to find the proper defaults
    Author:
    Chris Buchholz
    [email protected]
    @plutosdad
    .PARAMETER list
    The document library to update. Using this parameter it will update all files in the doc lib
    .PARAMETER folder
    The folder containing files to update. Function will update all files in this folder and subfolders.
    .PARAMETER ParentFolderDefaults
    Hashtable of internal field names as KEY, and value VALUE, summing up all the parent folders or list defaults.
    If not supplied, then the function will travel up the tree of folders to the parent doclib to determine
    the correct defaults to apply.
    If the field is managed metadata, then the value is a string
    Currently only tested for string and metadata values, not lookup or date
    .PARAMETER termstore
    The termstore to use if you are going to update managed metadata columns, this assumes we are only using the one termstore for all columns to update
    If you are using the site collection specific termstore for some columns you want to update, and
    the central termstore for others, then you should call this method twice, once with each termstore,
    and specify the respective columns in fieldsToUpdate
    .PARAMETER fieldsToCopy
    Hashtable of internal field names, where KEY is the "to" field, and VALUE is the "from" field
    Use this to copy values from one field to another for the item.
    These override the defaults, and also cause the "from" (Value) fields to NOT be overwritten with defaults even if
    they are in the fieldsToUpdate array.
    Example: @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"}
    .PARAMETER fieldsToUpdate
    If supplied then the method will update only the fields in this array to their default values, if null then it will update
    all fields that have defaults.
    If you pass in an empty array, then this method will only copy fields in the fieldtocopy and not
    apply any defaults
    Example: @() - to only copy and not set any fields to default
    Example2: @('UpdateField1','UpdateField2') will
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -fieldsToUpdate @() -overwrite -termStore $termStore
    This will not set any defaults, but instead only set MyNewColumn to non null values of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column
    It will overwrite any values of MyNewColumn
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -overwrite
    This will set all columns to their default values even if they are filled in already
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -folder $list.RootFolder.SubFolder[3].SubFolder[5]
    This will set all columns to their defaults in the given subfolder of a library
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToUpdate @('ColumnOneInternalName','ColumnTwoInternalName')
    This will set columns ColumnOneInternalName and ColumnTwoInternalName to their defaults for all items where they are currently null
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -fieldsToUpdate @("MyNewColumn") -termStore $termStore
    This will set all MyNewColumn values to their default, and then also copy the values of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column to MyNewColumn where the old column is not null,
    but both of these will only happen for items where MyNewColumn is null
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -termStore $termStore
    This will set ALL columns with defaults to the default value (if the item's value is null),
    except for My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column which will not be modified even if it has a default value, and will also set MyNewColumn to the
    value of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column if the old value is not null

  • How to make the Open/Save dialogue download the text file instead of JSP

    I am currently coding on a JSP program, which searches the database and writes the resultset into a file on the server, and then allows the client to download this tab delimited text file onto their local machine. But I met a problem, when the default Open or Save dialogue appears, it shows that it's trying to download the running JSP file from my local host instead of the newly-created text file. Despite this, when I click OK to either Open or Save the file, a warning dialogue will appear saying: The explorer cann't download this file, it's unable to find this internet site or something like that. I get no error message from the server but I was always told that Javax.servlet.ServletException: getWriter() was already called. What does this mean?
    I guess maybe this is caused by the mix use of outputStreams in my program. I don't know if there is a way to directly read the resultset from the database and then send it through outputStream to the client. My solution is: first create a file on the server to hold the resultset, and then output this file to the client. I did all these in one JSP program: Create file on the server, search database, and then read file and output the contents to client. Is this correct? I attached my code, please feel free to correct any of my mistake? Thanks!

    Thanks. I believe something wrong with this statement
    in my program:
    You are correct there is something wrong with this statement. Seeing how you are doing this in a jsp, not really what they're made for but thats another topic, the output stream has already been called. When a jsp gets compiled it creates a few implicit objects, one of them being the outputstream out, and it does this by calling the response.getWriter(). getWriter or getOutputStream can only be called once, other wise you will get the exception you are experiencing. This is for both methods as well, seeing how the jsp compiles and calls getWriter means that you cannot call getOutputStream. Calling one makes the other throw the exception if called as well. As far as the filename problem in the browser goes I'm guessing that it's in IE. I've had some problems before when I had to send files to the browser through a servlet and remember having to set an inline attribute of some sort in the content-dis header inorder to get IE to see the real filename. The best way to solve this is to get the orielly file package and use that. It is very easy to use and understand and does all of this for you already. Plus it's free. Cant beat that.
    ServletOutputStream outs =
    response.getOutputStream();
    because I put a lot of printout statement within my
    code, and the program stops to print out exactly
    before the above statement. And then I get the
    following message, which repeats several times:
    ServletExec: caught exception -
    javax.servlet.ServletException: getWriter() was
    already called.

  • OMB Plus : how to get all the generated messages into a text file ?

    Hello,
    I wrote an OMB TCL script and I would like to know how to get all the messages generated during the exécution into a text file.
    I tried this, but it works only for a puts command :
    set DesProjet ACT_1
    set filename [ open "c:\\temp\\INFDE_010_IMPORT_REPOSITORY_$DesProjet.log" w]
    puts "test"
    Thank you for your help

    Hello Alain, you should try the OMBLOG variable. If you set it inside OMBPlus:
    set OMBLOG c:/temp/mylog.txtthen all the OWB specific commands are logged with their output. By OWB specific I mean all those that start with OMB.
    This is more than what you see in the interface, because:
    - messages inside procedures are logged; you wouldn't see them on std.output when you call a proc
    - variables are resolved, so if you issue the command
    set my_var VERY_IMPORTANT_TABLE
    OMBDROP TABLE '$v_myvar'the log will show:
    OMBDROP TABLE 'VERY_IMPORTANT_TABLE'
    Table dropped
    and you know something is wrong... so OMBLOG is very useful to intercept all manipulations on you repository.
    If what you want instead is a dump of the screen output when you execute a script, I suggest you redirect standard output from the operating system command line. Unfortunately OMBPlus doesn't support all advanced redirection and tracing features of the TCL language.
    Hope this helps, Antonio

  • How to input data into an arraylist from a text file?

    I am trying to take data from a text file and put that data into an arraylist. First here is the text file:
    [item1, 10, 125.0, item2, 10, 12.0, item3, 20, 158.0]
    3
    4530.0
    [item5, 65, 555.5, item4, 29, 689.0]
    2
    56088.5
    [item7, 84, 34.5, item6, 103, 0.5, item8, 85, 1.36]
    3
    3065.1The text between the [ ] is the output from my arraylists. I have three arraylists. The first [ ] belongs to arraylist A, the second to arraylist B, and the third to arraylist C. The format of the arraylists is this:
    <item name>,<# in stock>,<value of one item>
    The first number below the arraylists in the text file represents the number of items in the list. The second number below the arraylists represents the total value of the items in the arraylists.

    Thanks but I figured it out. Heres a sample of the code i used to solve my problem:

  • How to only read the last line in the text file by using BufferedReader ?

    Dear all,
    Hello, I am new to Java. Do anybody know how to read the last line (this is the last record) in the text file.The method I am now using is reading from the first line until I reach the last line in the text file. Thank you!!
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("c:\\sdk1.4.1\\bin\\dbExport.txt"));
    DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(new FileInputStream("c:\\sdk1.4.1\\bin\\dbExport.txt"));
    String input;
    String firstinput;
    String secondinput;
    int count=90;
    int year=1955;
    while ((input = br.readLine()) != null) {
    firstinput = input.substring(0, 10);
    secondinput = input.substring(10);
    String insertStore1 = ("INSERT INTO AUTHORS " +
    "VALUES ('" + count + "', '" + firstinput + "', '" + secondinput + "', 1955)");
    System.out.println(insertStore1);
    int result = stmt.executeUpdate(insertStore1);

    I suppose you could use a java.io.RandomAccessFile.
