How to register an instance as a windows service in SJWS 7

Hi all,
I need to backup my sites config and restore them on another machine.
I found out that I could simply copy over the folders under the config-store and it'll work, I can see & even start my sites from the other machine through the Admin GUI.
However, I need to register these sites as Windows Service in order to enable them to be started automatically upon server reboot. In the past, the SJWS 6.1 has ntregister.exe which I could use to do this, but this exe file is no longer there for version 7, does anyone has any idea how I can register an instance as a Windows Service in SJWS 7u4?

Thanks, it's the command I've been searching for (it's not listed under the CLI Reference Manual so I couldn't found it).
However it failed when I tried it with the following error msg:
ADMIN3577: Service creation and deletion is not supported on this platformI'm running Windows Server 2003 R2 and I've just upgraded the SJWS from 7u4 to 7u5, any idea whether that might be the issue?
Can you share with me under which config did you managed to get the command working? Thanks!

How to register DI RfcSvr as an Windows service

Every time I must manully start DI RfcSvr program on windows. I want to know how to register it as a Windows service?
I try to run below command:
ntscmgr install SAPRFCService -b "D:\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Data Services\bin\rfcsvr.exe" -p "-a DI_SOURCE -g HOST_NAME -x gateway_name"
It successfully register the command to NT service but It can not start. The error message in Event Manager is:
Event ID 7009, Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the SAPRFCService service to connect. I though this is caused by no return code returned by program rfcsvr.exe.
Anybody has good idea?

I'm in the same situation, I need to know if it's possible to record DI RFCSVR as a Windows service or not.
When I try to start the service, I get the same error
Event ID 7009, Time (30000 milliseconds) waiting for <name Service> of service to connect.
I have searched without success guides.

How to get 'clover.cmd' running as Windows service?

Right now I have the InDesign instances all running great as services so on a server reboot they start up fine. The clover/lbq part is just the .cmd script and it's not running as a service. I looked in the documentation but haven't found any info on getting clover to run as a Windows service.
Anyone know how to set it to do this? I'm on InDesign CS6 (server).

This information is in the Install Guide that comes with EAS.Running EAS as a Windows service is an option you can select when you install it. A message displayed in the command prompt window indicates that the service is installed.3. Start the Hyperion-Essbase_Administration_Server Windows service. Policy Agent on BEA WebLogic when server instance runs as windows service

hi.
my environment is: win2k3, bea weblogic server 8.1sp4, access manager 7.1 and policy agent 2.2. installation process of policy agent asks for server startup script (startWebLogic.cmd) which i found under my server instance catalogue. the only issue is that my server instance is installed as a windows service and should not be started in a command window.
am i safe with just specifying the path to the startup script or is there another way of dealing with this issue?
might be a dumb question, but it would be nice to be sure that i'm doing the right thing before i go ahead and install policy agent. :)

Hi,
I have not set it up as a window service but can try to help. for one thing, this step is not permanent and if it does not work then you can undo this step by re-editting the script to remove the line you added. This step has you change the bea startup script for that domain to call the agent script setAgentEnv_AdminServer(it ws copied into bea domain directory during installation of agent) which just sets some agent resources in the classpath. If you start bea and those things are not in the classpath etc then agent wont work. So no permanent damage, you can change it if it doesnt work.
I suggest you try it out and start the bea server as a service and see if it works - if not try again.
I am not sure what the windows service would use to start the app server, but somehow it must specify some environment properties and things in its classpath, so if this script doesnt work then you can just do the things in the setAgentEnv_AdminServer script like setting those things in classpath.
Please let us know if it works and if any extra steps required? Would be helpful to others to know how to configure as a windows service.

Problem: Deployment to WL10.3 Server Instance started as Windows Service

Hi Everybody,
I have deployed my J2EE Application to a Standalone WebLogic Server Instance (in development mode) started from the Windows Command Level via startWebLogic.cmd. I also tested the deployment to a Clustered Managed Server Environment(1 AdminServer+2 MS Servers in the cluster; development mode), all servers started from the command line. The application could be tested and everything worked fine.
But:
When I set up the WebLogic Server Instance(s) as a Windows Service(s) (following the instructions http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs103/server_start/winservice.html) my application can’t be deployed at startup time.
I get 3 ClassNotFoundExceptions:
- on startup class "DMS-Startup" (oracle.dms.wls.DMSStartup)
- on startup class "ODL-Startup" (oracle.core.ojdl.weblogic.ODLConfiguration)
- on startup class "JPS Startup Class" (oracle.security.jps.wls.JpsWlsStartupClass)
The Service is started but under Administration Console/Deployments the Enterprise Application is marked as “New” and not as “ Active”. The other Deployments: adf.oracle.domain(1.0, 11.1.1.0.0), jsf(1.2, 1.2.7.1) and jstl(1.2, 1.2.0.1) are shown as “Active”.
I tried to redeploy the Application directly from the JDeveloper to the running Standalone WLS Instance (Single Server) - as I did before.
The Deployment failed:
[Deployer:149034]An exception occurred for task [Deployer:149026]deploy application ... on AdminServer.: .

Why does the deployment work on the WLS Instance started from command line and why does it fail when started as Windows Service?
I am Using WLServer 10.3 and the JDeveloper 11g on a Windows Vista OS - both installed via jdevstudio11110install.exe. My Web Application uses BC and ADF Faces.
The Windows Service is set up by doing the following in a server-specific script placed under the USERDOMAIN_HOME directory:
set DOMAIN_NAME=mydomain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\mydomain

And there’s one more problem with the Windows Service:
I’m not able to Uninstall the service from a server-specific script, first setting the DOMAIN_NAME and the SERVER_NAME=AdminServer and than
using call "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\uninstallSvc.cmd".
I must do this directly in the registry.
Is anything missing? What’s wrong?

This thread was very helpful to get WebLogic 11g running as a Windows service. My problem was that I couldn't get the Enterprise Manager application to deploy correctly on startup, so I had to tweak both the installSvc.cmd and my script that installs the service (by copying important Java Options from the startup script that works as noted above). It was too hard to discern what exactly Enterprise Manager needed, so I copied a whole bunch.
What I ended up doing was using this as a script to install the Windows service:

How to get a Thread Dump from Windows Service?

We're running WLS 8.1 as a Windows Service, but we can't seem to generate a Thread Dump when the server locks up (apparently).
Can anybody recommend a wrapper that will do this?

WL_HOME\bin\beasvc -dump -svcname:service-name
where WL_HOME is the directory in which you installed WebLogic Server and
service-name is the Windows service that is running a server instance.
For example:

How to run Adobe Air App as Windows Service

I am working on Adobe Air application. Everything about coding and configuration have been good so far but I have some major road blocks down the road:
1. Schedule my application to run at certain time.
2. Run the application in the System Tray like a Daemon app
Does Adobe support for configuring the application to run in System Tray like a Gmail notifier app now? If it does, is it possible for me to have it configure for both Windows and Mac systems?

Last night I got some time to try out your example from "Working with the dock and the system tray"
It is really impressive to see how easy you can animate the icon on the taskbar, but it doesn't particularly achieve my goal to have a cross-platform taskbar app running.
I tried to work with Java yesterday and got their Taskbar module working on both platforms. It solves the basic issue. But then I realize Java is missing the Webkits Adobe Air is offering. So I need two Apps in order to achieve the goal to re-use my web app on the desktop. Now I am considering to learn more about the extend feature you mentioned to let the Java application works like a remote control for the Air application's instances.
So here are some of my current concerns: is it possible to be able to have input from java app into air application's elements? Does Adobe's intergrated runtime support incorporating Java as part of the app like it does with SWF and javascript? Or is there any bridge I can use to have the two applications communicate with one another?

I have used "Setting Up a WebLogic Server Instance as a Windows Service" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/e13708/winservice.htm#START143), but It doesn't work because OIM use the xlStartWLS.cmd file and not startWebLogic.cmd.

Multiple instances not starting using Windows services

Hi,
We have two Oracle instacnes installed in same oracle home. They are not starting using windows 2000 service manager.
I have to go to svrmgrl and set the ORACLE_SID environment variable to startup each instance. How can I make them start through windows Services instead of manually doing it.
Is installing multiple instances in same home a good idea?
These multiple instances are not part of paralell server.

I have checked the registry keys and everything looks ok.
ORACLE_instance_AUTOSTART is true
ORACLE_instance_PFILE is correct
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWN is true
ORACLE_instance_SHUTDOWNTYPE is i
Above values are right for both instances. I even have recreated the services using ORADIM. I can start both instances by going to command prompt set ORACLE_SID and start the instance using SVRMGRL. But they'll not autostart when the machine is rebooted.

How to delete Dialog instance on NW04

I have an installation NW04 on Cluster MSCS:
Central Instance on node A
SCS instance on Cluster Disk
Dialog instance on node B
We have performed upgrade to NW04s, and now in postprocessin we should deinstall Dialog Instance and install it again with software NW04s.
Here documentation guide:

After the upgrade of the central instance, you need to upgrade the dialog instance to the new release.
Due to the fact that some special settings and binaries on a dialog instance cannot be upgraded
remotely, you can only upgrade a dialog instance by uninstalling the old instance and then installing
a new dialog instance with the tool SAPinst.
Procedure
1. Uninstall the old dialog instances as described in the document Installation Guide ‒ SAP Web Application
Server 6.40 Java on <Operating System>: <Database>, Part II Installation and Post-Installation.
2. Install the new dialog instances as described in the document Installation Guide ‒ <SAP NetWeaver /
SAP application> <Technology> on <Operating System>: <Database>.
Point 1, is :

1. Log on as a user with domain administration rights.
2. Choose Start u2192 Settings u2192 Control Panel u2192 Add/Remove Programs.
3. The Add/Remove Programs dialog box appears.
4. Find the SAP entries.

But in my node B there is no SAP entry on Start u2192 Settings u2192 Control Panel u2192 Add/Remove Programs, however Dialog Instance exists, and windows service exists...and so on...
So how can we deinstall this dialog instance???

In node A there is JC30 (Java central instance)
In node B there is J32 (Java Dialog instance)
SCS31 (Services Central Instance) is now in node A, but can be switched.
Database Instance is OUTSIDE, is located on a Unix Server. (is not affected in this case)
Looking node B, there is no entry on Adding/Removing Programs regarding to SAP instance.
Of course, I can see windows services on node B, one for J32, other for SAPoscol, and one more for SCS31.
Any idea?

Start Primavera Web Logic Instances as Windows Services

An external contractor has recently deployed P6 v8.1 in our environments and to our surprise currenlty Primavera Web Logic instances installed (p6, contract module, progress reporter and webservices) ara running as a java consoles in a logged user session. Our internal policies does not allow to have applications running under these conditions (all servers are required to be able to startup automatically and sessions expires) so we have requested Primavera consultants to set up Primavera-related WebLogic instances as a Windows Services. We have just received an answer form them arguing that this requirement can not be fullfilled because Oracle does not currently support Primavera-related Weblogic instances deployment as Windows Services on 64-bits platforms.
Could someone provide his opinion about?

I setup P6.2.1 Web on WebLogic running as a service in a 64 bit Windows environment successfully for a previous client. While it may not be officially supported by Oracle to configure it in this manner, I personally had no issues with it.
