How to rename calculated item?

Hi
I defined a calculated item in Disco Admin and used it once in a workbook in Disco Plus.
Later I changed the name of the calculated item. Unfortunately the change doesn't take effect in new(!) workbooks. It is still the old name.
This doesn't happen to calculated items which I renamed before having used them.
How can I get rid of the old name without changing it every time I set up a new workbook? It must be saved somewhere.

Try changing the heading property on the calculated item in the EUL.

Hai Madhu,
It is pretty simple.
First u define a button. and in onAction Event of the button write the following code.
process is as follows:
1)get the node
2)get the element
3)using the method remove_element() ,remove the element.
The Sample Code is as follows
DATA:
 node_flighttab TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
 elem_flighttab TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
 node_flighttab = wd_context->get_child_node( 'FLIGHTTAB' ).
get element via lead selection
 elem_flighttab = node_flighttab->get_element( ).
 node_flighttab->remove_element( element = elem_flighttab ).

How to extend and add calculated item in EO Based VO?

Hi All,
I have a requirment where I have to add few fields on the page.
These fields are based on one Custom table and few calculated columns.
The existing VO of the page is based on EO which is based on PL/SQL.
approach I am thinking to follow for custom table is -
a) Create a EO based on Custom table
b) extend the VO of the page to add New EO and its column.
c) write code in New EO Impl to insert the row.
But the thing which I am not able to figure out is how to add calculated item in VO.
I have created a PL/SQL package to return calulated item, but not able to figure out where to call this package.
Could any one please list out the approach to follow for this.

If the calculated attribute is not going to be used for any business logic and just for display purposes you can create a transient attribute in the VO directly else create the transient attribute on the EO.

Renaming multiple items!

Hi!
I just recently switched to mac and i cant for the life of me figure out how to rename multiple items. i can rename singular items, but when working with photos i want to be able to rename by the name of the folder after uploading and sorting.
is there some trick i am missing?
(ps. i have searched discussions, and mac help to no avail)

thank you for these suggestions. i tried one of the apps listed at mac update but found it just too complicated. I did not try the second reply suggestion, but it looked ok.
For anyone else looking for a SIMPLE QUICK way to rename, I jsut created an automated action with the Automaker. it takes less than a few seconds and will simply rename and add sequences. (though i cant figure out why apple just didn't make this as a preset)
the more i learn to use it, i find the automater AMAZING.
but still thank you all for your suggestions.

How to change layout of new calculated item values?

Hi,
Is there a way on how to change colours or add a percentage symbol on the values of a calculated items?
I do not want to change the source measures in the criteria area I used to get the calculated items results.
Any idea?

I solved this by using an other approach.
Created a report and filtered the first resolts by certain value. Added a label.
Used combine with similar request and filtered again.
Created so many combines for the number of results I need to filters
In result columns renamed the label with a description which is a common denominator for all the labels
In pivot table, moved the main label to Rows and appled the sum

How i Rename Item Code and Description

Dear All,
Can you please tell me how i change Item code and item description in sap b1 8.8.

This can be very annoying. If there's a typo in the product code, we cannot update it anymore (since there are already transactions with this product) and the item is not displayed in the correct place when the item list is sorted on the item code. We can start a new product with the correct code and transfer the items in stock to the new product code, but then all the current transactions are still linked with the old/deprecated product. Very annoying.
If someone could find a method to rename the item code without losing the linked transactions, this would really be helpful. Thanks!

How to display the current name when renaming Finder item

Is there any way to get Automator to display the current name of a Finder item when renaming an item?
I want my users to be able to copy and rename a folder template but I want to display the folder template's current name as a default in the renaming dialogue window, so the user follows the correct naming format.

Since you've already hacked into it, if you've got developer tools installed, it is most likely in the nib file that is in the English project folder in the Resources.
I don't know what further implications that will have on the app in general, though.
If you are a little adept at applescript, you may want to create your own Applescript Studio app to do this instead of Automator. Also, take a look at Platypus to make a wrapper around you applescript instead of AS Studio.

How to rename the column name in oracle 8i?

There is no facilty to rename a column name in Oracle 8i. This is possible from Oracle 9.2 version onwards.
For you task one example given below.
Example:-
Already existed table is ITEMS
columns in ITEMS are ITID, ITEMNAME.
But instead of ITID I want ITEMID.
Solution:-
step 1 :- create table items_dup
as select itid itemid, itemname from items;
step 2 :- drop table items;
step 3 :- rename items_dup to items;
Result:-
ITEMS table contains columns ITEMID, ITEMNAME

Rename Finder Items with Automator in Leopard

I used following automator actions to rename all files contained in selected folders in Mac OS finder:
1. Get Selected Finder Items
2. Get Folder Contents (repeat for each subfolder found option on)
3. Rename Finder Items (Add Text before name, Show action option on)
First two actions were executed flawlessly. Unfortunately after keying in text to be added in front of every file name in text field of popup window on execution of last action, no file name was changed. Then I realized that same actions performed in automator application instead of invoking through Finder's contextual menu worked as expected. So the problem seem to be related to initialization of text value in text field of the action.
I decided to try with new variable feature introduced in Leopard version of automator. Clicking on Variables button next to Actions button in menu bar of Automator, then select following item:
Library > Text & Data > New Storage
I managed to provide a text value for the New Storage variable through "Library > Text > Ask for Text" and "Library > Utilities > Set Value of Variable" actions, but text field in Rename Finder Items action seem to reject the New Storage variable completely. So the attempt to provide text value to the Rename Finder Items action through user initialized variable failed without reason.
May I know how can I make use of variables to set text fields in Rename Finder Items action ? Is the above mentioned failure a confirmed bug of Leopard waiting to be fixed by Apple (after one whole year of beta testing !!) ? Thanks in advance.

I figured out a way to use variables in the Rename Finder Items.
In my case I want to rename the files to a sequential name. I can't link the variable to the "New Name" box in the Automater GUI.
But it helps to know that that the Automator is just creating an XML file and you can edit this directly.
To do this, create the Automator workflow and save it. Give the variable some distinct name like "myVariable".
In Finder, right click the Automator file and select Show Package Contents. Within this folder go to Contents and find the document.wflow file. This is the XML file, so open it with TextEdit or something.
Search the file for your variable name. The first instance of it should be in a section that starts with <key>variables</key>. All the variables will be listed here. Each variable has several lines to define it. The first will be the UUID. The UUID will have a line that is something like: <string>BD464B7A-ACDE-4A63-B595-FAF1DA6DE26E</string>. The BD464B7A-ACDE-4A63-B595-FAF1DA6DE26E is how Automator refers to your variable. Search the file for this UUID string and you will see. Whenever Automator wants to insert the variable, it will enter $(BD464B7A-ACDE-4A63-B595-FAF1DA6DE26E).
Copy this string, with the $() surrounding it. Close the wflow file. Now you can go back to Automator itself and paste it wherever you want your variable to appear, even if you can't normally insert the variable into that field.

Forms Builder 6i: Calculated Item-value into DB

Hi all,
I am a Newbie in Forms and have got a problem:
Through a Forms App I want to fill a table in my database. The Form and the table both exist already. One of the Items in my Form is a calculated item, that is calculated with a formula of the values of two other items.
My question is how is it possible to get the calculated value into my table. The only hint I've got is to use WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM, but I don't know anything about the rest to do...Will somebody help me?

make the calculated item based on the database column you want it to insert the value into.
If this is not possible have a hidden item based on that column and copy the value from the calculated item into this hidden Item. (you can probably use mirror item for this).

Data format in pivot table calculated item

Hi All,
I've got a pivot table with a dimension on rows and a dimension on columns and a measure. I have a "new calculated item" based on the dimension on the columns which does the following: ( ($2-$1) / ($1) ) *100
I want this calculated item shown as a percentage like 1,2% but the measure must stay a whole number like 1234 (no decimal places or percentage symbols) any suggestions on how to achieve this?
