How to rename with inverse rating in the filename?

This is a question about sorting and renaming.
I have a bunch of sports images in Lightroom that are all tagged with an appropriate rating or 1-5 stars. Because they are sports images, some are sequences of images taken at 8fps. I want the images to end up on my photo website (Smugmug) sorted first by rating, but for images of the same rating, I want them in chronological order (by date/time taken).
My challenge here is that I'm uploading them to a website that doesn't know how to sort by rating. In the past, I've renamed the images to include the rating as the first part of the filename, followed by the date/time and then I've sorted the gallery by descending filename. This successfully gets the images in rating order, but it does not get images with the same rating in the right order (in fact it gets them in reverse order).
Filenames would look like this:
Force97-5-20100926182129_7220.JPG.
"Force97" is the team name
The "5" is the star rating
The "20100926182129" is the date/time code
The "7220" is the original file number (useful at max fps when date/time codes are identical)
What I need to make these filenames sort properly is to be able to include the inverse rating rather than the actual rating so a five star image would get a filename with a 1, a four star image a 2, and so on. Then, I could sort by lowest filename first and everything would sort properly. Highest rated images would be first and within a given rating, the images would be in chronological order.
So, an image rated five starts would come out like this:
Force97-1-20100926182129_7220.JPG
With the rating of 5 converted to a 1, rating of 4 convert to a 2, rating of 3 as 3 and so on...
Does anyone have any idea how to do this in Lightroom? My only idea so far is to output them as shown here in Lightroom and then write a python script to parse out the rating from the filename, reverse all the rating numbers and rename everything again. I'd love to be able to do this within LR. Have I made myself clear what I'm trying to accomplish? Any ideas on how to solve this in LR?

If you can write a Python script, then the best way I think would be for
you to write a Lightroom export plugin instead, then rename as you see
fit...
Learning yet another language (Lua) and SDK is a possibility, but certainly not a quick way.

Playing a DRM (FMRMS) protected .flv with a space in the filename fails on OS X

As the subject says, when trying to play a DRM encrypted .flv with a space in the filename it fails on OS X it works on Windows and I am 99% sure it works on Linux as well.
I changed my files to not include a space but it appears now that if there is a space in any part of the path as well it fails.
If anyone has an idea on what to do it would be appreciated.
I have tried to use the File.nativePath and File.url properties after confirming that File.exists returns true.
I tried escaping the spaces manually with + and %20 but none seem to work.
The error is that the file just doesn't seem to play. I will update this question if I find any more information.

How to rename a site without accessing the Central Admin if there is a treshold...

SP2010 - I'm SCA of a site collection...
I need to rename a site, (site settings, title etc), but when I rename and try to save, it says "The
attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator."
ok I understand the problem, but I don't have access to Central Admin and increase the Treshold or whatever.
I need to do that within the Site collection - I've rights use Sandbox solution.
Please advise how to rename the site? (LINK)

As Alex said, it is one of the biggest weaknesses in SharePoint.
You need to decide when and how you are going to reduce the size of the list. And put a governance policy (written document that is vetted through management) in place that states that lists need to be below the default 5000 item limit.
I DO NOT recommend increasing the limit, although I have seen companies do this. All it leads to is the eventual crash of your farm and many, many more lists that then need to be paired down.
to fix your issue though, you could increase the limit, then export the list to excel, then decrease the limit back to default 5000 and then do your work in excel by parsing the list into however many you want, based on some criteria that you decide (date,
unit numbers, or what ever makes sense)
then import the excel files to new lists, after you have the new lists imported, business could test, then you could increase the limit one more time, so you can delete the original list.
and for renaming the site, if you don't want to do all the list work, you could increase the limit, and rename the site with set-spsite, assuming you're using host named site collections. If you're using path based, you could export the site, then
create the site and all its subsites, and perform the import; which is one more reason why HNSC is the way to go.

How to deal with "Error 1001. The specified service already exists" when install a service using installer package?

I wrote a "Class Library" project which is a service using Visual Stodio 2008 recently, then tried to use a Visual Studio 2008
Setup Project to install it.
Here is what I did for the "Class Library":
1. Finish the program.cs, Service.cs
2. Add Installer
3. Change the serviceInstaller so that "StartType" to be Aotumatic
4. Change the ServiceProcessInstaller2 so that "Account" to be LocalSystem
5.
6. Click in F5 (Start Debugging)
Here is what I did for the Setup Project:
1. Add the exe file built from the "Class Library" project to the Application Folder
2. On the Custom Action Editor, add the exe file from 1 to Install and Commit
3. Change the property of the project so that "RemovePreviousVersion" to be true
4. Click on F6(Build Solution)
Then I tried to run the msi file from the built of the Setup Project. Because I modified the two projects serveral times, I uninstalled the Class Library using "Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs" before I reinstall. Two things I notived:
1. After unstall, the registry was not cleaned up about the installed program
2. After several rounds install/uninstall, I got "Error 1001. The specified service already exists"
My questions are:
1. How to cleanup the registry when uninstall a program?
2. How to deal with the "Error 1001. The specified service already exists"?
3. Did I do anytbing wrong with the "Class Library" or the "Setup Project"?

Hi Simon, not a problem!
I spent some more time on this and here are few more notes:
it is called Major Upgrade, when you are installing new version of the product upon a previous one and
MSI supports 2 strategies:
Strategy 1. Install a new version and uninstall previous one. (Install a new version right upon previously installed version (file merging is performed based on dll version number) and the delete previously
installed files)
Strategy 2. Uninstall previous version and install a new one (Delete all previous files and install from scratch new files.)
From the first look it seems that 1st strategy is weird and buggy. But, remember, MSI is great because it's transactional!!! That means that if once some of the phases (Installation, Uninstallation, Rollback, Comit) fails, your machine
will be reverted to the previous state and it'll be still functional.
Let's consider both strategies:
Consider you have installed product_v1.msi and you want to install product_v2.msi.
Strategy 1
1. MSI engine copies files from Product_v1 directory to TEMP directory
2. MSI engine merges files based on the assembly version (between v1 and v2)
3. Once merging is completed successfully it removes files in TEMP (RemoveExistingProducts action triggers it) and you got product_v2 installed, otherwise if it fails MSI engine revert machine to V1 and copies previous files from TEMP.
Strategy 2
1. MSI engine tottaly removes all files from v1.
2. MSI engine installs v2 files and if something goes wrong you cannot revert back, because RemoveExistingProducts allready worked out and MSI doesn't have files to revert machine back
I recommend to everybody to use Strategy 1 and leverage MSI transaction functionality. And you can set this strategies by defining sequence of RemoveExistingProducts action. See more info
here. So, I think it's not even a bug in VS as I said in the upper post it is default recommened behaviour.
AND, you got "Error 1001. The specified service already exists"
because if we follow Strategy 1 MSI engine tries to install Windows Service on top of the existing service and OF COURSE it fails MSI engine (StopServices, DeleteServices actions are executed before actual
installation and they look at ServiceControl table). In order to stop service first and delete them you have to fill ServiceContol table of the MSI (and then StopServices, DeleteServices actions will recognize what to they have to stop
and delete), like this:

We can uninstall service first by following Strategy 2, but then we lose transactional support.
So, Simon did I encourage you to change your code a bit?:)
And, btw, if you don't want to change the strategy, please don't rely on SequenceID in MSI table, it can be change, you have to get the at the runtime.

How to create subfolders with names corresponding to the filenames

sorry to ask this here, but I'm a complete noob with Actionscript.
Can anybody please tell me if this is possible at all and perhaps give me some hint how to manage this:
I would like to be able to do something like this:
I have a source folder with files.
The files do have different extensions, which are not important for the actions
The filenames consist of a 8digit, some have some additional strings which are not important for the action.
Example filename: 14123456.tif or 1423456YT.jpg
I would like to create a folder structure where each of the 8digits of the filenames represents a subfolder (which needs to be created when not there) and then move the file into this subfolder, overwriting exinsting files with the same name without prompt.
So for the file 14123456YT.jpg the script should create a folder structure like:
Foler "1" with a subfolder "4", with a subfolder "1" etc. and move then this file into this subfolder. Again: it is only about 8 digits, if there are addition strings after the 8th digit, this does not need a subfolder (like "Y" in the above example". The next file in the source might have a complete different number.
I do not expect that somebody creates this for me, not at all.
But before I dive into the Applescript I would like to know if this is possible at all. Of course I would be happy for any hints to scripts that are similar to what I want so that I can use this as a starting point.

It looks like (on a British system with "." as the decimals separator), coercion from a string to an integer will round up with a "." - "1234.567" becomes 1235 - and will ignore a "," - the same string becomes "1234567". On a continental system, this will likely be the other way around.
In these circumstances, I think the only option you have is to iterate through every character to check that it's a number. This will take slightly longer, but it will at least guarantee that nothing other than a number will work. I have made the change below. Note that the 'exit repeat' takes you out of the repeat loop as soon as an illegal character is found.

Firefox 3 cannot download files with white space in the filename

When opening attachments in e-mail Firefox is unable to handle files with white space in the name. This is not the same as the white space file name truncation problem documented on this site (where file names with white space are truncated on saving.) The issue is that the browser will prompt to allow the file to be saved, but it will not prompt to open the file as an option. If I rename the file to remove white space then I do receive the "Open with..." dialog box. I verified that Firefox 2 did not have this problem and I can open attachments with white space in the file names just fine using that version of the browser (2.0.0.20).

When a user clicks on an attachment with spaces, the filename is truncated to the first whitespace. While IE, Chrome & Safari handle this, Firefox refuses to accept mime headers with unquoted filename parameters. According to Firefox's bugzilla/knowledgebase, Firefox's behavior is the correct behavior and it's a problem with most webservers or web applications. This problem can be easily corrected by surrounding the filename parameter with double quotes.

How to sync with a library without the computer's files overwriting phone

My laptop died. I had another older laptop that I had synced with months before. However my phone has playlists, music, apps, that I DO NOT want overwritten. I can connect, backup but if I select Sync with Apps or Music, iTunes says it will overwrite the phone!! And it gives me NO option to do the opposite, overwrite the library FROM the phone. How the **** do you do that?

Like pinted by Michal, use Adapter Specific Identifers.
In your mapping set the file name using the code in this link and then in your Receivr File Adapter select the Adapter Specific Identifiers --> FileName .

How to search with multiple constraints in the new java API?

I'm having a problem using the new MDM API to do searches with multiple constraints. Here are the classes I'm trying to use, and the scenario I'm trying to implement:
Classes:
SearchItem: Interface
SearchGroup: implements SearchItem, empty constructor,
             addSearchItem (requires SearchDimension and SearchConstraint, or just a SearchItem),
             setComparisonOperator
SearchParameter: implements SearchItem, constructor requires SearchDimension and SearchConstraint objects
Search: extends SearchGroup, constructor requires TableId object
RetrieveLimitedRecordsCommand: setSearch method requires Search object
FieldDimension: constructor requires FieldId object or FieldIds[] fieldPath
TextSearchConstraint: constructor requires string value and int comparisonOperator(enum)
BooleanSearchConstraint: constructor requires boolean value
Scenario:
Okay, so say we have a main table, Products. We want to search the table for the following:
field IsActive = true
field ProductColor = red or blue or green
So the question is how to build this search with the above classes? Everything I've tried so far results in the following error:

I can't just add it to mySearch because mySearch is using OR operator, so it would return ALL of the Products records that match IsActive = true. I tried creating a higher level Search object like this:

topSearch.addSearchItem(mySearch);
topSearch.addSearchItem(myActiveFieldDim,myBoolCon);
But when I do this I get the above "Search group nesting is currently not supported" error. Does that mean this kind of search cannot be done with the new MDM API?

I'm actually testing a pre-release of SP05 right now, and it still is not functional. The best that can be done is to use a PickListSearchConstraint to act as an OR within a field. But PickList is limited to lookup Id values, text attribute values, numeric attribute values and coupled attribute values. It works for me in some cases where I have lookup Id values, but not in other cases where the users want to search on multiple text values within a single field.

How to select, with a SUD DIALOG, the range and the trace data to import from citadel

How can I with LabVIEW programatically control the RS-422 port?

Most likely the communication would be identical to what you do for RS-232, only you would use the port number associated with your serial hardware. Thus you can use VISA starting with the serial examples in LabVIEW.
There are a few extra things like the transceiver control on NI-Serial RS-485 hardware that have special VISA calls, but those are easy to add.

How to print with inverse printing on HP8150

Hi, we have an HP 8150 lazerjet and require the ability to print a white number within a black square. The printer is connected to an HP9000 running HP-UX.
The final image would have to be approximately 3/4" square.
Control of the printer has been accomplished by using PCL control commands/sequences.
