How to repair .mdf file?

My sql databases in SQL Server 2014 has the status "suspend" as I saw in SQL Management Studio. I can't restore to serviceable condition sql databases through standard procedures. I need to restore .mdf file.

You may try to use third party tool
SQL Server Repair Toolbox. Free demo version is available from here http://www.sqlserver.repairtoolbox.com/how-to-repair-an-mdf-file.html
In case this solution couldn't help you, make use of next steps:
1. select ‘run’ from ‘start’ enter
2. ‘cmd’ and then enter type “chkdsk
3. x: /r” and press enter key, here X represents drive where mdf file is
4. stored to confirm restore press “Y” restart system, the drive will be scanned at startup and the MDF file is recovered

You are trying to attach SQL Server 2012  database files to SQL Server 2008 R2 which is not allowed, you either need to upgrade your SQL Server 2008 to 2012 or alternatively you can generate all scripts from SQL Server 2012 and execute it in SQL Server
    2008 R2.
You can refer below link to how to generate script.

    to restore .MDF file.
If anyone face this issue, please share you experience.

I entirely agree with Dan that you should restore the database from a clean backup.
Since the cluster crashed, I suspect that the database was not shut down cleanly and in this case you will not be able to attach the MDF with the suggestions Dan made.
It is possible to what Paul Randall calls a "hackattach", but I am not going to describe this here. You will be able to access the database, but the database may be full of corruptions. So I really hope that you have a backup.

  • How to Repair A File Changed into an Alias?

    hello,
so i have a really frustrating problem. and here it is:
--oct 25 i backed up all my files onto an external hard drive (EHD)
--i upgraded my osx from snow leopard to mavericks
--attached my EHD to laptop to retrieve files
--discovered that several folders and documents had been changed to aliases.
not sure why this happened because i have drag and dropped files and folders directly from my desktop to my EHD without any changes. in fact i created a folder and some files on my desktop and drag and dropped them into the same EHD without any issues.
--i thought it might have something to do with mavericks.
--i resintalled snow leopard. still have the same problem & i cannot open the files or folders that have been changed into aliases on my EHD.
for one folder's type description, it says it is a unix executable file not an alias. even though there is a little black arrow showing on the folder icon.
when i try to open another folder with a black arrow it says: the alias "_______" cannot be opened because the original item can't be found
another message i am getting when i try to open a word document, .docx, with an arrow is: item "_______" is used by Mac OS X and can't be opened....
i compared two documents--one with an arrow and one without---there were several differences of course. the arrowed document has changed and the UTI, type, creator and format are the changes. now the format is HFS+ not MS-DOS.
does anyone know what kind of problem this is and how to fix it?
    thanks in advance
    rob

You can put its code into the XML by using a textual encoding such as Base64. However, as images tend to have quite a lot of bytes and textual encodings tend to increase the amount of data even more, I'd rather deliver a pack of files and just state path/name of the images in XML.

  • How to recover .mdf file database?

I am having one of my database in SUSPECT mode.
    1) I tried to Detach the database and than attach it, but it did not allow me to detach from the begging.
    2) I tried to run the following commands:
ALTER DATABASE Database_Name SET EMERGENCY (Successfully).
ALTER DATABASE Database_Name SET SINGLE_USER (Successfully).
    DBCC CHECKDB('Database_Name', REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS) (Failed).
All these actions can't provide proper result. I'm using SQL Server 2014. I supposed it can't be possible in such newest version of SQL.

First of all, you can refer to the following article
    http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/paul/creating-detaching-re-attaching-and-fixing-a-suspect-database/
which explains how to detach a suspect database, then re-attach it, and then fix it with DBCC CHECKDB command.
Note you should immeidately make a backup of your database after it is detached, before doing any further operations.
Then you can repair the database with DBCC CHECKDB.
You are using REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS parameter for CHECKDB, which may causes data loss during the recovery process and I normally do not recommend to do so at the first try.
For your case, you may first call dbcc checkdb(mydb, REPAIR_REBUILD) to see if it can fix your database, REPAIR_REBUILD will take longer time but it will not cause data loss. If this command does not work, then you can try dbcc checkdb(mydb, REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS),
this command may cause some data loss but it may still be able to recover some data for you.
Moreover, if you still encounter errors after calling these two commands, then you can repair individial tables one by one by calling dbcc checktable('MyTable',REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS) and dbcc checktable('MyTable',REPAIR_REBUILD).
So the whole process is just an analysis and repair process, to figure out the best way to retrieve the data. You can find more detailed instructions at

isn't csh. Seems valid to me.
You want to change this to:
setenv PATH /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/etcThat should work as well, but doesn't really explain the error.
The whole 'syntax error at line 4: `(' unexpected' looks more like a sh/ksh error to me. Exactly what I'd expect if the .cshrc were being executed by an sh-style shell (although bash doesn't seem to complain).

  • Basic tips to recover MDF file from corrupted SQL server

    Hi users,
share the basic tips of MDF file recovery with good example and when the tool support with all over MS windows and MS SQL server.

Basic solution to recover MDF file from corruption is to run DBCC statements. It is a set of SQL statements -
    1. Dbcc checkdb ('database_name') with no_infomsgs
You do not need to repair file if the above statement is executed without any errors. Before executing the repair operation, you need to set the database in single user mode by executing:
    2. Alter database 'database_name' set SINGLE_USER
You can now start repairing process by using Repair_Rebuild model by executing:
    3. Dbcc checkdb('database_name', REPAIR_REBUILD)
If this statement executes successfully, then execute 5.5 else execute:
    4. Dbcc checkdb('database_name', REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)
This statement may lead to data loss. If it is executed properly then execute 5.5 else execute:
    5. 5.1 Alter database 'database_name' set EMERGENCY
    5.2 Alter database 'database_name' set SINGLE_USER
    5.3 Dbcc checkdb ('database_name', REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS) with no_infomsgs, all_errormsgs
