How to repair my oracle client

My PC have a virus "VBS.KJ", after i have kill it, my oracle client cannot connect to server, reinstall has no effect, how to repair it?

If your TCP/IP networking is not demaged, meaning you can browse the Internet or do ftp thing, you may want to run the Net8 Assistant to make a new service name and use it to try connecting to the server again.
Good luck.

  • How to upgrade the Oracle Client silently ?

    Hi all,
    I have to upgrade the Oracle Client from 8.1.6.0.0 to 9.2.0.1.0.
    I use the -record option for creating the destination file or edit the response file manually for being able to install the new client. But I have no idea, how to remove the old client.
    The following command doesn't work:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install\setup.exe" -deinstall DEINSTALL_LIST={"oracle.client","8.1.6.0.0"}
    What am I doing wrong? How to remove the Oracle Client silently?
    Thanks for the help and best wishes from Frankfurt.
    Dimitri

    I created a instant client silent DE-INSTALL for version 10.1.0.2 on XP.
    setup.exe -silent -deinstall -responseFile Z:\yyyyyy\xxxxxx.rsp
    These are parameters are in my response file...
    ORACLE_HOME="C:\oracle\InstantClient\10.1.0"
    ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraInstantClient10g_home1"
    TOPLEVEL_COMPONENT={"oracle.client","10.1.0.2.0"}
    DEINSTALL_LIST={"oracle.client","10.1.0.2.0"}
    SHOW_SPLASH_SCREEN=false
    SHOW_WELCOME_PAGE=false
    SHOW_END_SESSION_PAGE=false
    SHOW_EXIT_CONFIRMATION=false
    SHOW_DEINSTALL_CONFIRMATION=false
    SHOW_DEINSTALL_PROGRESS=true
    REMOVE_HOMES={"c:\oracle\ora81","c:\oracle\InstantClient\10.1.0"}
    You still have to manually update/remove the PATH & TNS_ADMIN environment variables and the file system directories.

  • How to run different Oracle client versions on the same PC

    I have developped an application (.Net 2.0, ODP v. 10). I must run it on PC where Oracle client version 8 is installed. The PC cannot be upgraded because of a client software running under this version.
    I tried to install ODP v. 10 on this PC in different home, but the software using version 8 stops running.
    Can Oracle Instant Client help ? But which version, 11 ? My application is based on ODP 10. Can ODP 10 access database via Instant Client 11 ?
    Thanks for your help

    The problem on Windows is: The 10g installation changed the default ORACLE_HOME,now it points to 10g and makes the 8.0.5 application invalid,because it runs now in a much higher environment. What I did in a similar situation, I created a batch file, which sets temporarily the old environment (in my case PATH,ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_HOME) and then invokes the application.
    I don't know whether such a solution will work for you (8.0.5 is very old,desupported since a long time), my old version was 8.1.7.4.

    Ummm .... client license?
    All license questions should be addressed to Oracle.  I believe what you'll find is that the license for client installation is free.  What you pay to license and support is the rdbms (server) software.
    But all licensing questions should be addressed directly to Oracle.  A license agreement is a legal issue, and this forum will have no standing in court.

  • How to update Oracle Client

    Hey,
    I downloaded and installed the Oracle Client Version 10.2.0.1 on Windows x86
    Now I would like to update this oracle client, but how ?
    I installed the software to
    C:\oracle\client
    Now I downloaded Patchset 3 (10.2.0.4)
    But I can´t install this patchset, because I can´t select the folder c:\oracle\client --> OUI-10136: OracleHome already exists
    But thats the home I need to update, right ?
    How to update the oracle client software ?
    Is there any full package to download for version 10.2.0.4 ?

    Absolut weird.
    I can´t use the drop down menu.
    It looks like disabled.
    But acutually you can (and have to) click on the little arrow, pick the default value and then the installation works.
    Thanks a lot

  • Oracle Client 11.2.0.3

    Hi All,
    I want to download Oracle Client 11.2.0.3 for HP UX system. I only see Oracle Client 11.2.0.1 in the Oracle Download page. How do I get Oracle Client 11.2.0.3?
    Thanks!

    Oracle Database patch set, release 11.2.0.3 is a full installation of the Oracle Database software. This means that you do not need to install Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1) before installing Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.3)
    If you have access to My Oracle Support, download this Patch : 10404530
    Patchset 10404530

  • Upgrade oracle client 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 on w2k3 std edition sp2

    hi,
    new on the forum, hello everybody!
    I'm looking for info about how to upgrade an oracle client 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3.
    I'm running the client on a windows server 2003 standard edition with SP2.
    Several questions:
    -is it an upgrade or a complete re-installation?
    -where can i find the source for the upgrade?
    -known issues for upgrading?
    -if my db is in 10.2.0.3, can I use client 10.2.0.1?
    thanks,
    phil

    Just apply the upgrade on the client's oracle home and make sure you don't have any running oracle software when you perform the upgrade, otherwise you will see dll conflicts.
    You can still use the 10.2.0.1.0 client against the 10.2.0.3.0 since there is no functionality change at all, just bug corrections. It is advisable, however, that you are running at the latest patchset to avoid hitting known bugs.

  • Oracle Client installation

    I have installed the Oracle Client on an Windows XP SP2 professional system as a local administrator. I deploy the workstation to a user that only has user access to the machine.
    When I try to launch the net manager or configuration wizard, I get nothing. If I elevate the user to an administrator everything works frine.
    I am looking for specific instructions in how to run the Oracle client in a limited user context. Client in 9i as well as 10g.
    Thank you,
    Jason

    Hi,
    in case the java-written assistants don't start, try to launch the assistant in a dos-box (cmd.exe) and see what their output is. In your case I'd suggest missing privileges on the ORACLE_HOME, especially on %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\*.ora

  • How to connect sql server using oracle Client

    Hi,
    I am working in oracle9i and windows os 32 bit.
    I need to connect SQL server 2000 from my oracle client..
    I heard about heterogeneous connectivity ...
    Please expalin me the steps what to add and how to connect the sql server...
    Regs....

    Are you trying to connect to SQL Server from your Oracle database (i.e. create a database link in Oracle to SQL Server)? Or are you trying to connect to SQL Server using your Oracle client software (i.e. SQL*Plus)?
    The former just requires Heterogeneous Services with Generic Connectivity. The latter is functionality that has been depricated and probably no longer works in your environment.

  • How to install Oracle client Version 10.2.0.4 on a Windows server 2008

    Hi,
    I need to install an Oracle client on a Windows Server 2008 (32-bit), how do I do that?
    I want to install Oracle client version 10.2.0.4 (Instant Client Package - Basic: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and JDBC-OCI applications).
    Pls. advice, I can't find instructions for this installation on Oracle.com or anywhere else.

    thx, it looks promising...
    but how to run the .jar files and which one to run, both Class12.jar and ojdbc14.jar, to start the installation?
    Do I need to install the java runtime environment to run the .jar files?

  • How to install oracle client on pentium 4

    please can someone tell me how to install oracle client 8i on pentium 4 system. the installation is not going automaticlly , and if i explore the cd and press on the setup file the installing didnt start.

    8i definitely has problems with Pentium IV processors. The fix is to copy the entire CD to the hard drive and then rename each copy of symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.

  • How to determine the location of Oracle Client

    Hi folks,
    how can I determine the location on a given machine where the Oracle Client was installed ?
    My java-application, which has used the 9i-Client until now, has to run with a 10g-client in future. The problem is: for a transition period, it has to use both clients optionally. So when the application starts running it doesn't know which client is installed on the machine.
    There are never installed both clients, so before starting the jvm I have to decide which one has to be used, since I have to set the right classpath for accessing the jdbc14.jar.
    Are there any settings (e.g. ORACLE_HOME or something like that) which are used in the same way in both clients (and on different platforms) ?
    Thanks
    Jens

    Hi Amit,
    If you are not able to check the note 118823 or you can't able to find the solution. Just start client copy in test mode, there you can get the size of the client then you can cancel the client copy(which is in test mode).
    Hope it will resolve your doubt.
    Thanks
    Kishore

  • With multiple Oracle Clients how do you know which one ADO is using

    Currently using Oracle client 8.1.7 to connect to a 10g database with the following connection string.
    Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle}; CONNECTSTRING=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=10001))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=Falcon2))); uid=Falcon;pwd=*******;"
    If I add a second, newer client, how do I tell ADO to use the newer client?
    Thanks,
    Dave
