How to Reset or Erase content on iPod....I am selling mine...

Now that I have a video iPod, I don't need the original Classic version anymore. A co-worker would like to buy it from me. However I noticed that I still have contacts and other personal info in there along with over 1,000 songs. What is the procedure to do a RESET or ERASE all the content so he can start fresh?

Thanks Neil.
Everything in that article makes sense but I have one more question about the end of the process. It mentioned that after Stage 2 Restore was completed, it would ask you to rename your iPod, etc like it did when you first bought it brand new. If I plan to sell mine, do I name it anyway?
By me restoring this older iPod will it affect my newer video iPod when I go to hook it up to the same computer?

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    Hello ski12
Restoring or erasing all content and settings will just turn the feature of iCloud off and not deleting from iCloud. If you want to, turn off iCloud before you go through with erasing it.

1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • How to reset a the contents of a JPanel

I was just wondering the different ways one could go about resetting a JPanel. That is to clear everything then reload it.
AKA a game of chess where the pieces have already been moved...then on the click of a button the pieces go back to their original starting positions.
I've checked the API and fiddled about with hide(), show(), dispose() and re-adding the contents but to no avail. Well one method sort've worked but my algorithms became un-workable.
Just wondering what the best (most efficient perhaps?) way of going about this would be.
    Thank you in advance.

There's an example of replacing a JPanel here...

It's in there somewhere, trust me... somewhere in the bit that changes the screen size.

    Hi ,
how can i stop the my iphone to verify an email address for icloud.
i went to that email but did not let me verify....phone is now stuck

Did you click the Verify Now link in the verification email from Apple?  If you didn't get it, make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account.  Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox.  If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

  • How do I move music off my iPod onto my Mac mini?

Can anyone tell me how to save/transfer all of the music from my 30GB iPod onto my desk top computer (Mac mini)? I would like a safe method, least likely to lose any of the music.

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iRepo Mac & Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
One last thing, if you have been using your iPod with another computer and it is set to update automatically then you need to take care connecting to a new iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings: iTunes for Mac 7.3 Keyboard Shortcuts
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever retrieval method you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

How do I reset and erase all content without knowing a restriction passcode

You can't. You have to get into settings in order to erase all content and settings. You have to restore the devics using iTunes and you have to restore as new or if you restore the backup, you will just be restoring the restrictions code that you can't remember.
Do not backup the iPad since you will not be able to use it.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you erase an iPod touch, your information, apps and settings are deleted and iOS is back to factory settings. If she wanted an iPod touch with camera, she should return it after erasing it. Note that the iPod touch doesn't store her credit card information
