  • Recovery Task for starting a stopped service not working (2012)

I created some monitors in SCOM 2012 to monitor some third-party services on one of our Windows 2008R2 SP1 servers (virtual).  In the custom monitor, I created a "Start Service" Recovery Task using this guide:
    http://www.opsconfig.com/?p=478
But the Recovery Task is failing.  I looked at the Health Explorer for the critical error notifiying me that the service stopped and it shows that the recovery task ran successfully but has the following error:
    Output
    None
    Error
    The service name is invalid.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2185.
    Exit Code: 2
I have the Recovery Task configured as follows (bear in mind I'm testing this on a monitor that is only enabled for my test server, and i'm testing it with a non-critical service (Adobe Acrobat Update Service.))
If I connect to the server via RDP and use a command prompt to CD to C:\Windows\system32 and execute net.exe start AdobeARMservice, it starts fine.
What's up with this?  I even tried sc.exe but that failed as well.

If so, it is the server side issue. Is there anything related to it in Event log?

  • How to restart services?

    hi,
we are using hyperion 11.1.1.3 version which is installed in linux server? Can anyone tell me how to restart the shared services server like we do in windows version...n 1 more question..
how to start interactive reporting and financial reporting from linux server?if possible can u give me the path(example)
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
If you want to stop and start all the services, (I am assuming the Hyperion Home, check as per ur HYPERION_HOME)
    Go to:
    1) /Hyperion/products/bin
    2) you will find stop.sh and start.sh
If you want to start a specific service: (Assuming Tomcat, check the locatin of your application server)
    /Hyperion/deployments/Tomcat5/bin
here you will find Shared Services, along with few more.
    use stopSharedServices9.sh and startSharedServices9.sh
    Cheers...!!!

  • [SOLVED] How to restart services compatibly with SysVinit

I'm collaborating on a Kubuntu user's package of scripts for Thinkpad X220 Tablets.  As part of the installation process of the package, the acpid daemon must be restarted to reload newly installed ACPI hooks.  On Kubuntu, the command to restart acpid is:
    service acpid restart
According to this page, that should work with systemd, as well.  However, this does not work on my Arch Linux system because the 'service' executable does not exist on my PATH.  There is a 'service' executable in the pm-utils package, but it depends on the existence of a SysVinit script in /etc/rc.d; Arch uses a systemd service file instead.  (Besides, why would something like this be in the pm-utils package, not systemd?)
    Using the native systemd command
    systemctl restart acpid
works fine for me, but it would be nice to use a single command that's compatible for both systems because it needs to go into a makefile that is used on both systems.  Is it possible to use the same command under SysVinit and systemd to restart a service?

Thanks, that's helpful.  I'm still wondering why 'service <name> restart' doesn't work, though.  According to the documentation on systemd's website, it should.  Why do you think it doesn't work?  (Is the documentation incorrect, am I misreading the documentation, is 'service' part of another package, etc?)
tomk wrote:Absolutely, this should be left to the user. The Arch way to handle this is with a post-install message, nothing more.
That makes sense, especially for restarting services.  I haven't found any guidelines, though, on what should/shouldn't be included in installation hooks.  For example, 'media-player-info' runs 'udevadm hwdb --update' after installation to update udev's hardware database, and font packages such as 'ttf-dejavu' run multiple commands to update the font database.  What are some guidelines (or where can I find them) on what I should/shouldn't include?

  • How to find service port oracle use.. for http... ftp.. ?

Can any one tell me how to find what services ports does oracel uses for services like HTTP and FTP... ?
Is there any commad that I can execute on SQL*PLUS console to find that ???

Depends on the version of Oracle.
If Oracle XE, or you are using XDB capability, you use
    SELECT dbms_xdb.gethttpport(), dbms_xdb.getftpport() from dual;
    and verify using lsnrctl status
Otherwise you look at the Apache config files in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.*

you may also like to look at the wrapper project on source forge. It lets you set up services under any O/S with full control of the JVM that is running.
Btw my previous answer only helps you under MS, didn't notice that you wished to know how to do it under unix. If its a non-java service, you will need to determine what platform your on and then perform the appropriate action.

  • How to create restore cd or recovery cd for macbook pro

how to create a recovery cd or factory cd of macbook pro

There is no factory CD/DVD for OS X. You can create such an animal, however:
Managing the OS X 10.7 Lion restore drive | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews
OS X- About Recovery Disk Assistant
OS X Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0
You will need a 2 GB USB flash drive partitioned GUID and formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled.
If you wish to make a bootable installer:
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
        installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
      a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
      c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
          the process has completed.
      d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
      f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
         drive size.
    3. Use Lion DiskMaker 2.0 to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.

  • Help-urgent - how to update service pack and apply patches for ADS

    Dear all,
I've just download the sp 11 and the patch ,how should i update my ADS? I've try to search the forum but to no avail. Pls advise, thanks.
    Regards,
    Joan

    Hi Joan,
To deploy an SCA or SDA, proceed as follows:
          1. Make sure you have downloaded the SCA or SDA from SAP Service Marketplace.
          2. Start the SDM GUI. To do this, execute the following file:
                a) Windows: RemoteGui.bat in folder \usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\SDM\program
                b) Unix: RemoteGui.sh in folder /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/SDM/program
          3. The SDM GUI screen appears.
Note: With SAP Web Application Server 6.30 the SDM server is started whenever you start the SAP system. To check whether the SDM server is running, use the tools SAP Management Console (Windows) or jcmon (UNIX).
          4. Choose "SDM Gui -> Login" or the icon "Connect to SDM Server". The dialog box "Enter Login Information for SDM Server" appears.
          5. Enter the following information:
                a) Password
The initial password is "sdm" (without quotes).
                b) User description (optional)
                c) Hostname
                d) Port
With instance number 00, the default port number is 50018. If your instance number is different from 00, the port number changes to
                Port = 50018 + 100 x <instance number>.
You have to calculate the new port number and enter it manually.
          6. Choose "Login". The SDM GUI appears.
          7. Choose tab "Deployment".
          8. Choose "Add SCA/SDA to Deployment List (Local File Browser)". A file selection screen appears.
          9. Select the SCA or SDA file you would like to deploy and choose "Next" to read the information on the following screens.
          10. Choose "Next" until the "Start" button appears.
          11. Choose "Start". After the SCA or SDA has been completely deployed, a success message appears.
          12. Choose "Confirm" to return to the SDM GUI.
          13. When you have finished work, log out from the SDM server. Choose "Deployment -> Logout" or the icon "Disconnect from SDM server" for this.
If this answers your question, please mark the question accordingly and do award points if helpful.

  • How to add more fields at level task for importing to MsProject

    Hi everyone,
We would like to have the same number of fields either for importing as exporting; or at least, the fields that we need.
The problem is when we are configurating the fields for exporting from cProjects to MsProject, we found 81 available fields and then we don't find the same amount for importing (34). So, in some cases we don't find fields which were configurated for exporting and it is no posible to upload the information back because the field is no available for importing.
Does anyone knows how to add more fields for importing at the cProjects side?
    Thanks a lot,
    CAMILO URIBE

Some fields can not be migrated because of MsProject designe. The above is the reason why cProjects' customizing does not offer the
mapping of the same nuember of fields.

I have created item using Purchased Item template and one more item(service item) using service /warranty program template. Then I have used these items to create sales order with service item in it and closed that order , but Iam not getting this order in service contracts. Is this right way to create sales order for service items. I

copied from service /warranty program template
    service is selected to inactive,

  • How to update  Service Contract using BAPI/FM for ME31K

    Hi ,
I am using BAPI BAPI_CONTRACT_CREATE to create contracts.
It works fine, the only problem i am facing is while updating line item with item category "D' its simply skips the item category and create a item. The item category is blank when i see in transaction ME33K.
When i create it using ME31K transaction with line item item category type  "D' its ask me to fill the services also for that line item.
My question is is there any BAPI which i can use to update the Services for item line with item category  D.
    Thanks
    Amar

    Hi Amar,
Not sure if this would help you but you can consider writing different logic (probably a BDC) for item category 'D', and use BAPI for all other cases (if 'D' is the only exception).
    BAPI documentaion says:
*External services (planned and unplanned services) are not supported.
Creation of configurations is not supported*

Please look at the SAP note 376424 - BAPI_PO_CREATE1: Error messages for parked POs.
Sap recommends to install the support service pack. Take a look at the note for detailed understanding.
