How to retrieve password of password secure package.

Hi All,
Right now I am migrating old SSIS packages from one server to another.
While exporting packages from msdb it asked for password as it is password secured.
Is there any way by which we can get package password from msdb.
Got something from below URL but we don't have any job that is executing this package:

The quick answer is its not possible.
To elaborate
If protection level is EncryptAllWithPassword then you dont have a way out to open the package without password
If protection level is EncryptSensitiveWithPassword package will open but without any sensitive info like connection info,password etc. You would still be able to execute paclage if you have a configuration defined in it with available values or you manually
fill in the sensitive values yourselves
If you want packages to be upgraded you need to open a new Integration Services project in the BIDS/SSDT-Bi environment of latest version and include each packages inside it and save it. Then they will get upgaded and once deployed to new server they will
work fine

That is the bugger with generic (executable) functionality. When used for multiple requirements which are too far from each other then they break or the "lowest common denominator" calls the shots.
If this data is being uploaded from the application server, then why don't you just protect it there. The S_DATASET for that program context will not be very usefull, because it is generic.... so you can look into using S_PATH.

Again, this means that anyone who knows the generic password (or can display / debug the code) will be able to access the data.
A better variant of the same would be to create a symbolic service user, and prompt for that user's password before the data is downloaded. You can then use standard functions for prompting for passwords, which also update the lock counter.
=> If the password is locked due to incorrect logins, then the program is locked for this functionality as well.
=> You can periodically lock / unlock / change the access to the program, by administrating the service user in SU01.
=> Do not give this service user any authority at all - you only want to prompt for knowledge of the password, but not actually log the user itself onto the system. (see report RDDPWCHK for some example coding)
In German this is called "von hinten durch die brust", which means something like "unusual approach but still works anyway".

I would still protect the source data itself using unique authority to access it, and then control that.

If you really need that kind of security, the best option is to use FileVault. Alternatively you can use encrypted disk images, but there are drawbacks to that approach, chiefly that Time Machine won't back them up while they're mounted.

Are you using the default providers? How are you creating users? Won't the
user be authenticated by the relevant container?

I have developed an application with form based authentication. Right now the user name and password are kept in the "Apps-jazn-data.xml" file and it is encrypted. How can I get the encrypted password from the "Apps-jazn-data.xml" ?
Because I need to reset the password to something else through the enterprise manager of the application server, I need to know the previous password.

If you prefer, you can directly edit jazn-data.xml with a text editor. The next time OC4J reads jazn-data.xml, it will rewrite the file with all passwords obfuscated and unreadable.
Setting the clear attribute of the <credentials> element to true enables you to use clear (human-readable) passwords in the jazn-data.xml file.

Hi,
I don't know of a way to retrieve the administrators password. Are you sure there
is one? I know how to change or reset it from the command line. Then you'll
know what it is :)
I did the following:
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java -cp %WL_HOME%\WLS\server\lib\weblogic.jar weblogic.Admin
-adminurl localhost:8301 -username system -password patbumpus invoke -mbean Security:Name=myrealmDefaultAuthenticator
-method changeUserPassword system patbumpus password
You can also try -method resetUserPassword and you don't have to know the original
password.
There is a problem with changing the administrator's password. You need to update
the boot.properties file in the domain directory as well which you can do in a
sed script. If you don't, then the server won't boot. Also, there might be issues
with changing the administrator's password and then being able to start managed
servers. I had a problem, but didn't investigate enough to rule out user error.
This is supposed to be all fixed in WLS 9.x.
I know that I didn't answer your question, but maybe something was useful.

Thanks for the help Niel. I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions. After numerous guesses, finally got them right. Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info. Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again. Thanks for the fast response!!
