How to run a "exe" file that is residing in application server.
Hi,
I have a requirement in which a .exe (Windows executive) file needs to be run through code, which is residing in the application server. That exe file is nothing but a pdf-excel converter that will convert a pdf file to excel. The corresponding pdf file is also in the application server. Is there any function module to make this happen? I have come across the FM GUI_EXEC, but it operates on exe and pdf files that are in the presentation server.HI Anirban
SM49 /SM69 might be of help
Could you please look into the link below.

How to run java exe files without having to install jre
Hi all i want to run a java application. i already converted the jar file to exe using Launch4j but the problem is that i want to run the application on other computers without having to install jre. please, is this possible and if yes, how can i do that. Thanks alot in advance
The Launch4J website should explain how to bundle the JRE. I've not really used it myself though. If you can't get it to work you could try the launcher I use:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FYZAVM77
which comes with instructions. Or:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/javaround
Both of which are really easy to use. -

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. -
How to run sqlj.exe to translator Sqlj file which depends other file
I want to use sqlj.exe to compile sqlj file. I don't know what option can be set for Sqlj.exe can automatically compile sqlj file and it's dependent file(sqlj or java).
Here is one case:
There are three six files.
p1\A.sqlj
p1\A1.sqlj
p2\B.sqlj
p3\C.java
p3\DI.java
p4\E.java
1.the Class A has been declared as follow:
public class A extends C implements DI{
And in A.sqlj file, Class B and A1 will be used.
2.the class E has been declared as follow:
public class E extends C{
I want run sqlj.exe as follow:
sqlj -d=. A.sqlj
Does it can auto compile C.java, DI.java and A1.sqlj, B.sqlj?
We known, when java file is compiled, the dependent java file will be auto compiled,
for example, the command,
javac E.java
will compile E.java and C.java.
But how sqlj.exe automatically compile dependent file.

How to make a .EXE file run always as a BACKGROUND PROCESS ???
I have a .EXE file that i want to run always on STARTUP.
And it should run only in the BACKGROUND PROCESS LIST in TASK MANAGER.
It should not show up on the TASKBAR or NOTIFICATION TRAY.
Plz Help !!!! Thnx in advanceWhat is the need for such a security?
If you are an administrator and you want to run the EXE file in background in all other user accounts (which are non-admins), you can simply add the file path under the run key in registry. The registry entry is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
The EXE file is not visible to non-admin users (of course, visible to administrators), even in Task Manager.
Depending on the application behaviour and the way it works, it may or may not be visible in system tray or task bar.
Balaji Kundalam
some where i read to add the path in inverted commas followed by -auto
Eg : "C:\Users\GAURAV\Documents\****.exe" -auto
i added it and it ran on startup but it showed on my desktop !!! i dnt want it to show on desktop ! -

But as this a web application ... By using Runtime i'm getting some probs ..
Let me guess, you want your web application to run a program on the client and to your surprise that's not working?
Ain't gonna happen.
its taking more time to execute .... that's y is there any other option to execute .exe file other than Runtime.getRuntime().exec("filename");Write proper English and you may be taken more seriously.
1) it's not "taking more time to execute", whatever that's supposed to mean.
2) there's no other way to execute something. Not that you should every use even that way anyway
3) whenever you start thinking of executing external programs from Java, start thinking of not using Java in the first place. -

How to create the exe files for java application
How to create the exe file for java application?
got any software to do that?
ThanksIn terms of converting java applications into exe files, there are 3 schools of thought:
1) Instead of converting it to an exe, convert it to a jar file. Jar files are more portable than exe files because they can be double-clicked on any operating system. The caveat is that a Java interpreter must be installed on the target computer for the double-clicking to work.
http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/Books/javaprogramming/JAR/
2) Create an exe launcher that, when double-clicked, attempts to find a Java interpreter on the local computer and launches the Java application. The exe file is still double-clickable but whether your java application runs depends on whether a Java interpretor is installed on the target computer.

http://www.rolemaker.dk/nonRoleMaker/javalauncher/
http://www.jelude.cjb.net/
http://thor.prohosting.com/~dfolly/java/index.html
3) Create an exe launcher that bundles a Java interpretor. Same as above but when the exe file is double-clicked, it searches for a Java interpreter and if one is not found, it installs one on the target computer. The caveat is that the exe file would have an overhead of 10 MB in size for the interpreter.
http://www.excelsior-usa.com/jet.html (evaluation version available)
4) Convert the Java application into a native exe file. The caveat is that if you use Swing for your GUI, it won't be converted. Also this option is still somewhat experimental.
Can't think of any free options right now. -
How do I open .exe files on my mac?
How do I open .exe files on my mac? I've downloaded a bunch of programs but they are all in .exe format. Do I need a program to extract these files?
Thanks,nps0045 wrote:
Ok thanks. So how do you install programs that you download from the internet? I've downloaded some programs and when I try to install them it doesn't work.
First of all, you need to download things that are built to run on OS X - there is no way to install any Windows program in OS X. You need windows to run Windows programs.
Most downloadable programs for OS X will be distributed in a Disc Image file - *.dmg You would double click one to open it. Then, often it is as simple as drag the uncompressed folder to your Applications Folder. Sometimes there may be an installer to run. Once installed, you can eject the mounted dmg (drag it to the trash) and either keep is in case you ever need to reinstall, or delete it.
