You are probably starting the swipe too high on the screen. Try somewhere in the middle (pretty much anywhere in the middle).

    You do not have iOS 5 on your iPad so you have to update by using a computer via the latest version of iTunes. You can connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under the devices heading. Click on the Summary Tab on the right. Click on Check for Update.
    After you update to iOS 5 or later, you will have Software Update in you settings and can update via WiFi OTA. If you have the original iPad - you can only upgrade to iOS 5.1.1.

  • How do I upgrade iPad iOS

    How do u upgrade iPad operating system to iOS 6
    I am using ios4 now. When I go to systems then to general, there is no button for software update

    The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you are on iOS 4 as your tagline suggests then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
    Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
    Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
    Your iPad will be updated to iOS 6.0.1 (which is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple), so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

    Hello I want to know how I can't update my iOS and ipad 2

    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
    Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

    Basically you'll need to connect your iPad to a computer running the most recent version of iTunes  (Mac or PC doesn't matter), and follow the update prompts from there.

  • App search on iPad iOS not working, App search on iPad iOS not working

    Only had this one week, now unable to search in the App Store just getting white screen, the buffering Circle does it thing but just get white screen, WAS working fine till about 2 - 3 days ago, have tried reset and restart and signing in and out (only for say half hour)! Please please can apple or someone guide me in the right direction as its very very frustrating to say the least,

    Ragazzi anche io ho lo stesso problema.
    Ho attivato l'iTunes Match, che funziona correttamente sul pc e sull'iPhone 4S.
    L'ho attivato anche sul mio iPad, ma, tuttavia, dopo un breve periodo in cui ha funzionato correttamente, ha iniziato a dare problemi.
    Vi descrivo di seguito ciò che ho rilevato:
    - il periodo in cui l'iTunes Match ha funzionato correttamente sull'iPad è durato solo qualche settimana;
    - in seguito, anche se tutti i brani della Cloud venivano visualizzati sull'iPad, dava problemi nel senso che i brani non venivano riprodotti e, inoltre, la durata veniva indicata in "zero" per tutti i brani, sicchè, cliccandoci, non venivano riprodotti;
    - ho provato a disattivare e riattivare l'iTunes Match e, a questo punto il dispositivo ha dato il messaggio "tutta la tua libreria musicale verrà sostituita con quella su iTunes Match", mentre, nell'applicazione "MUSICA" erano spariti tutti i brani: veniva visualizzata, al centro della pagina, la nuovoletta del Cloud, con una barra di download sotto. Questo è durato per circa quattro giorni, senza che succedesse nulla, nel senso che la barra del download non mostrava segni di caricamento;
    - allora ho provato a ripristanare le impostazioni e, a questo punto, erano visualizzati di nuovo i brani, ma comunque senza possibilità di riprodurli (la durata di nuovo indicata come "zero");
    - nel momento in cui ho provato a cliccare su uno dei brani, è riapparsa la nuvoletta del Cloud con la barra di download sotto;
    - quando i brani ricompaiono, hanno sempre durata zero e non vengono riprodotti;
    - ho attivato anche la condivisione in famiglia ma il problema non cambia.
    Vi preciso che il mio iPad è della prima generazione ed è aggiornato all'IOS 6.

  • How to update the iPad iOS version? I have an iPad (first generation) iOS 5.1.1. I can't update the software via WiFi nether via iTunes

    I have an iPad (probably first generation - Model A1337 ). This tablet has iOS version 5.1.1.
    I would like to update for the latest version as possible.
    There is no option by iPad wifi.
    I also tried by iTunes and in option Checking for UpDate, only let me know the current version, but doesn't open the possiblity to update for a newer.
    How can I update the software version ?
    tks
    Reinaldo

    Hi,
    The first generation iPad is limited to iOS 5.1.1. This is due to the original iPad not having enough power or memory to get to iOS 6, 7 or any further in the future.
    All other iPads and iPad Minis can get to the current version - iOS 7.0.4 and at least until the end versions of iOS 7 or iOS 8.
    Hope this helps, and Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

    Does anyone know how to do a text search in the new Safari for iPad iOS 7?

    The feature has been removed to make safari even less useable. You need to download a third party browser like atomic web browser to get the functionality you want back.
    Like many new IOS 7 "features", safari on the ipad is a FAIL.
    At least you can now bury safari in a folder containing hundreds of icons that you can only view 9 at a time.

  • How can I find the Search pane on iOS 7.0.4?

    It USED TO WORK by swiping down from the center. Now swiping down from the center with the newest CRAP iOS 7.0.4, all that happens is the notifications tab pulls down.
    I can see all the options for Spotlight Search in the General Setup, and have all of the search options enabled, but the old way (2 weeks ago) of getting the search pane DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE.
    Anyone have a clue where it went, or how to get it back, or enable it, or anything?  SIRI is clueless too. I say "Open Spotlight Search". She says "You don't seem to have an app named Spotlight Search"
    I can tell SIRI to open one of my 150+ apps WHEN ONLINE, but if I'm flying or out of wi-fi, and want to search my iPad, I need the spotlight search pane!!!

    Gee, tonefox, did you REALLY have to log on and take the time to throw stones and call names?  A tantrum? Really?  Tantrum??
    How about from now on you just submit useful information?  I admitted to having problems with it, and I was frustrated because it didn't work the way it used to.  Maybe I just got lucky before, every time I wanted the search pane.
    I asked Siri for "Spotlight Search" because that's what Apple CALLS IT in the general setup. So, genius, since you're SO much more highly informed than me, what else should I have asked for?  Believe me, I tried dozens of different word combinations to get Siri to give me the search pane.
    Again, if you don't have something nice or helpful to say, please don't say anything. This isn't a social network place - it's a support forum. You gave no support.
