How to select .app application package itself on Mac?

Since IOpenFileDialog in CS6 does not support SetNavDlgOpFlags() anymore, I was forced to use AddCustomMenu().
But I could not find a solution or sample to select a Mac OS X application package (.app folder). This Open dialog just shows all the contents of .app package.
  openFileDialog->AddCustomMenu(filetypeString, 'APPL');
Tried AddExtension("app") before calling AddCustomMenu() but it doesn't seem to work.
Any suggestion to select .app package itself without showing all its contents ?
Thanks

Hi Martin...
Launch iTunes with your iPad connected to your computer. Select iTunes Store on the left then click Apps from the menu.
There are a variety of magazine apps available there. I like Zinio.

All the apps for your iPad are managed in iTunes. If you need more help, here's a link to the iPad forum where you can post for help there.

Without office installer dvd: visit office.microsoft.com, go to Store, and then select Office Products. Download/purchase what you need.
If you have the office installer dvd already, and another Mac with a dvd drive neearby, the other Mac (with DVD Sharing enabled) can host the dvd and you can access it from your macbook air using Remote Disc. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287?viewlocale=en_US
You can also opt to buy a separate Apple USB Superdrive.

You can't restore your iPhone with iTunes?
What happens when you select Restore - any error message provided?
Have you reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes - the same iTunes account used to purchase or acquire content from the iTunes store including apps?
If the apps will not transfer from your iPhone to your iTunes library and you don't maintain a backup of your iTunes library stored on an external drive or some other media used for backup purposes, you can re-download all apps from the app store and you will not be charged for any apps you have already purchased as long as you do this with the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the apps.

  • How to allow apps to run on managed Macs?

I have about 450 MacBooks that need to be updated in a couple of days. I've found that I can install an application remotely using ARD. The users are all students and, thus, managed users. Once the app installs, there's still the "Always Allow" and "Allow Once" dialog box. Is there some way I can set the package to install as an Always Allow before I send it out?

    Here's what I did:
    1. I used Remote Desktop to install the application remotely. It's Java, by the way, and we need it for an online test.
    2. From a Mac on which I'd already installed and authenticated the application, I exported the Parental Controls using the method shown here: http://knowledgebase.pearsonschool.com/kmp/article/AA-06304/0/MAC%3A-How-to-expo rt-your-parental-controls-and-import-to-another-Mac-for-testing-purposes.html
    3. I used Remote Desktop to copy the file resulting from step 2 to the target Macs. I copied it to the home directory of an administator account.
    4. Using the Send Unix Command feature in ARD, I used the second part of step 2 to have the target Macs import the Parental Controls.
So far, it appears to work best if the target Mac is at the login screen when sending all these commands. If a user has Safari open when you're doing all this, they should reboot when you're done. It might be a good idea to have all the users reboot before you start sending these commands. You could add a restart command in ARD.

If the application came with an uninstaller, use it. You can also check the developers site for instructions.
But for the most part, just drag the application to the trash. Some applications come with uninstallers under "options" on the installer.
The reason for this is that in Mac OS X most associated files are kept in the application package itself. If you choose any app then "control-click" on it, you can choose "Show package contents" from the contextual menu and you will see all the associated items.
You can also do a Finder or Spotlight search for any other items but they will probably only be prefs which will do no harm and don't take up much room.
These are ususally just plist files in Users/yourname/Library/Preferences . Also some apps will install files in Users/yourname/Library/Application Support. (To reveal this hidden Library go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library"
Note: Some apps may also put a file in /Library/Startup Items or SystemPreferences >> Users & Groups >> Login items. (So, it worth a look here too)

  • How to add osd file into app-v package - need to have two osd files within one app-v package

We have app-v 4.6 sp2 I get one app-v existing package which has two OSD files associated.
It is needed for separate license servers located in different sites. I need to create a new app-v package with new version of this application and want to have similar two OSD files associated with it. How to do it?

Using Notepad for creating a new copy of an OSD is OK, but requires some thinking:
Inside the new OSD, the NAME= and/or VERSION= attribute should be modified: you shall not have two applications with the same Name+Version combination
the name of the new OSD file should be added to .sprj file (similar to the original OSD file name) as this motivates the Sequencer to load both OSDs when opening the package
inside the OSD in the <MGMT_SHORTCUTLIST> section the name of the shortcut file (.lnk) shopuld be adjusted
The new OSD won't get added to the MSI (if you are using that) unless you open & save the package in the Sequencer.
Sorry Dan, but except for super-professionals I'd advise
    Use GridMetric
Application Virtualization Explorer to add/modify shortcuts (you'd need the Professional Edition for App-V 4)
    or
If you already have the package with just one OSD: select the 'Modify an existing packge' in the Sequencer, then use the 'Add
Application' wizard. Quite at the end this will bring you to the 'shortcuts and file type associations' step. In there you can create a new shortcut (resulting in a new OSD). Other wizards make it more difficult (or impossible) to add shortcuts: https://kirxblog.wordpress.com/2011/06/01/app-v-4-6-sp1-the-right-sequencing-wizard/

  • How do i uninstall applications and their packages without littering trashcan

how do i uninstall applications and their packages without littering trashcan.
                                                                                                       *sincerly nube*

OK. That wasn't clear at first. See the following:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash 1.8.2
        8. Amnesia

  • How to reinstall apps in a new device. I downlowad from " selection of premium apps" last Dec

    Hi,All
I downloaded and installed some apps from " selection of premium apps" last December.
The device I installed was 9780.
Now, I am starting to use a new 9900 device.
How to reinstall apps I downloaded in my new 9900?  My old 9780 would be erased.
The app world store asked my credit card info for charging me again when I tried to reinstall these apps, such as DriveSafe.ly Pro, Photo Editor Ultimate , etc.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Apple doesn't sell the iLife apps on a disk any longer and Apple Care doesn't sell Apple software, the Apple Retail store does. The apps this "Apple emplyee" placed for free on your Mac are not the same versions of the apps that came preinstalled on the Mac and they are not the Mac App Store (MAS) versions. And they will not be udates by the MAS. You may be able to get updates through Software Update.
I doubt that it is a policy of Apple to have its employees installing the iLife apps from an old disk for free on 2nd hand Macs, so others trying to get this done may not be successful.

  • How to use  third party package in java application

hi, i am a student , new to java world can any of u tell me how to import third party package in our java application.
i want to know how CLI is done in java.
i am going thru this link http://www.codezoo.com/pub/component/5574

    please please help me

    There are two steps -
    1. Import the classes you need from the package(s) using the Java import statement in your classes that need access to them.
    2. include the 3rd part code (one or more .jar files and/or root directories holding the code's package tree and .class files) to your javac and java class path and optionaly to the class path found in your .jar's manifest file.
