How to set formula field in crystal report

I develope the code in C#.NET and use SAP B1 2004C. I have a problem with crystal report. I have in crystal report one unbound field. This field is string type. I need in my code change value of this field to another text ex. ("test").
I use this code:

The value of the field is set, but on the report isnt it. Why not. Can you help me. Send some sample.

I've never tried to change a field of the report directly. Maybe it would solve the problem if you make a parameter field, which you can use in the formula.
You can set then the parameter field: report.SetParameterValue("NameOfParam", valueOfParam);

I have set the URL method for my crystal report and with parameter passing as shown below, it was displaying the crystal report viewer by connecting to the SAP BI 4.0 server with this method.

This URL will be called from Web application by different users, i would like to set the printer settings differently for different users for this crystal report viewer how shall i need to set the printer options?
shall i need to set the printer settings programatically for each user. Please advise me how do i need to proceed.

There are no BI / CR APIs that would do this for you. The way I see it, you'll have to have your own print button and populate it with the correct printer information for each user as they request the report. Of course, alternatively, use the viewer printer button and get the users to choose the correct printer.

How to set Command Timeout in Crystal report while calling from C# code

I am using Crystal report XI R2. I am calling SQL server 2005 stored procedure as source in the report. I want the report should timeout from the website if the stored procedure doesn't return resultset after 5 minute. Could you please assist how should I chnage the below code to achieve that.

Yes it is possible to use datasets. resources listed below. One hting to be aware of; Using datasets larger than about 5,000 records (depending on the report) is not advisable. Performance will potentially be an issue with datasets that are too large.

How to set Excel Options using crystal reports 2008

Hi,
I am trying to figure out CR 8.5 (Crystal report control) Equivalents in Crystal reports 2008 using crystal report viewer in .Net but not able to find the exact replacments.
Properties used in CR 8.5
CRAXDRT.ExportOptions.ExcelUseWorksheetFunctions=True
CRAXDRT.ExportOptions.ExcelUseTabularFormat =True
CRAXDRT.ExportOptions.SetLogOnInfo(1,3,4,5)

Hello,
The code that has been provided is of Report Designer Component.
RDC has been deprecated in Crystal Reports 2008.
Use the 'ExcelFormatOptions' class. It provides many options regarding exporting in an excel format.

How to set relative position in Crystal Reports

We are using CR XI R2 for designing crystal reports and Oracle 9i as datasource.
we have placed 5 columns in vertical position next to one another in details section.
for ex
Salesrevenue
Company description
SalesSummary
as data fetch is dynamic whenver data in 'Sales revenue' is more it is overlapping on 'Company description' column
and so on with 'Sales summary' too.
I know that Relative postion works only when columns are placed in ROW MANNER i.e
Salesrevenue||Company description||SalesSummary but doesn't work when placed in the above manner.
Please let me know if there is any workround or any other option need to be configured to overcome this issue.

Right click the report navigator(left of your report body under design mode), and then choose 'insert a new section below', this will insert a new detail section called 'details b', put the 'Company description' into that section and third one into another new detail section.
This will let you avoid the overlap issue.

Crystal Report version : 11.0.0.1282 Standard
There is MainReport1. Other is Subreport1
Scenario :
MainReport1 having paramater PdateMain1 as dateTime.
SubReport1 having parameter dateSub1 ,dateSub2.
datesub1 is used for One datasource1 (DataSource- XML -from webApplication) , dateSub2 is used for datasource2 (DataSource-SQl Procedure ) ( This is requirement as i need to used two datasource )
Value of datesub1 and datesub1 is same (it is created automatical as it is part of SQLProcedure and XML Query ) but get prompted twice for the same valuewhich is not desirable. so for that i have created main report and calling this subreport in main report.
Now i want's to pass PdataMain1 to Parameter datesub1 and datesub2. I am able to pass PdataMain1 to datesub1. through Change Sub report link ( Option on right click of report).and it is working fine,
Problem :
But Subreport link Menu does not allow to bind PdateMain1 to datesub2 as it is allready bind with datasub2.
to overcome this i created one Formula field in main report as fMaindate1 which copy date from Parameter PdateMain1.and bind ( link) the fMaindate1 to datesub2. when i link this , subreport does not display any thing at all. It it a limitation of crystal report or i am missing some thing , Is it like that we can pass formula of ,main report to subreport Paramater in Crystal 11 Standard , if we can anyone please Provide help on this.
This can be easily achieve through application programming but my need to get this done in Report itself.Thanks

Hi experts,
For the component 'ICCMP_EMP_SRCH' there is a view 'BUPAEMPSEARCH' , which has 2 context nodes 'CUSTOMER' AND 'SEARCHEMPLOYEE' , i need to add the field 'NICKNAME' which is part of the 'CUSTOMER' context node on the search screen. Currrently all the fields on the screen screen are from the 'SEARCHEMPLOYEE' context node. when i did the configuration , the 'NICKNAME' field is greyed out . I have already generated the Getter ,Setter , GET_I, GET_M methods for the 'NICKNAME' field and the context node and controller class and context class are all active .
on debugging the GET_I method, i see that rv_disabled = 'TRUE' and the current = collection_wrapper->get_current( ) is returning empty value .
for this rv_disabled to be set false , the code below is not triggered since there is no value in current.
IF current->is_property_readonly(
'NICKNAME' ) = abap_false. "#EC NOTEXT
rv_disabled = 'FALSE'.
ENDIF.
when i check for other search fields of context node 'SEARCHEMPLOYEE' , all the fields are set to rv_disabled = 'FALSE'.
can anyone suggest how to approch this. iam i missing any binding between context nodes or any activations ?
The field properties are set as Input field and the display checkbox is not checked.

How to use CRAXDDRT.DLL in crystal report 2008?

We have purchased Crystal report 2008 Full software.
We need to insert BLOB field into Crystal report 2008 at runtime using *CRAXDDRT.DLL*.
How can I insert OLE object and bind it at Runtime using crystal report 2008?
Is it possible to insert Ole Object runtime using crystal report 2008? If yes how and if not is there alternative to perform this job.
Please let me know your feedback.

CrxDDrt.dll is only provided in order for the Crystal Reports designer in the .NET IDE.
1) You are not licensed to use this CraxDDrt.dll
2) Even if you were, in previous versions of CR, there were licensing implications to using the craxDDrt.dll (read $$)
3) Once your project would be done, using CR 2008, you would not be able to distribute the runtime as there is no CR MSM or MSI that contains the craxDDrt.dll and it's supporting runtime.
In your original post you say:

I do not understand why you'd need to do this using the craxddrt.dll? You should be able to insert a BLOB field using the RAS SDK for .NET and CR 2008. Now, one hting you will have to keep in mind. If you insert a multipage .doc or .pdf file into the report, you will only get the first page of that document. I suggest you try this in the CR designer first. Always remember that if you can not do a certain thing in the designer, you will not be able to do it at runtime either. Giving all the limitations above, if you are still interested in doing this using RAS, let me know and I'll set you up with some resources to get you going.

Hi Dwarak,
Go to the Field Explorer > Right-click Running Total Fields > New.
Choose INV4.taxsum as the field to summarize and in the Evaluate section, choose 'Formula' and click on the formula button beside it. Use this code:
INV4.Relatetype = 1
Drag and drop the Running Total field on the Footer section.
You can also do this using two formulas.
First formula goes on the Details section with this code:
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar summ;
if INV4.Relatetype = 1 then
summ := summ + INV4.taxsum;
And another one to display with this code. This goes in the footer:
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar summ;

Problem dislaying an Informix LVARCHAR field in Crystal Reports

I am creating a report using Crystal Reports XI from a BOXI Universe. The Universe is connecting to an Informix Dynamic Server 9.21 database. The Informix database contains a field which is a LVARCHAR data type. A LVARCHAR data type is one which allows the storing of more than 255 characters (up to 2KB).
When I attempt to place the LVARCHAR data type field onto my report, Crystal Reports displays no data in my report for most of the other fields, and all the formulas return invalid results. If I go into the Informix database and change the LVARCHAR field to CHAR (255) field, the Crystal Report will run with no problems.
Does anyone know if Crystal Reports can support the displaying of fields from the database, which are greater than 255 characters?
Also, I have created a Crystal Report which uses the same Informix data source using an ODBC connection and the LVARCHAR field caused the entire report not to display. By changing the field from LVARCHAR to CHAR (255) the report runs fine.

It's also important to 'prep' the excel file prior to connecting to it.
Give the data tab a meaningful name
Make sure the column headers are unique and that every column has a header
Delete any blank tabs
If you have trouble with Excel changing the data type of a field (say, a social security number you want to be a string value rather than a number so you don't lose leading zero) an alternative would be to save the spreadsheet file as a CSV, create a schema.ini to specify the data types for each column (example below) and use the same steps to connect except instead of choosing Excel 8.0, scroll to the bottom and choose Text. You have to make sure the CSV file is in the same folder as the schema.ini file that defines the columns.
