How to setup rsync daemon to sync with Netgear ReadyNas NV+ storage box

Hi,
Trying to sync data from a Solly 10 clustered box to this wee NAS box for DR purposes.
Unfortunately, I do not have root access to NAS box and so rsync over ssh fails on authentication. I then discovered than it may be possible to call rsync via the daemon and provide it with a password file. The NAS box permits me to create an rsync username and password.
Could someone explain what I need to do please? Bearing in mind that the two boxes are running cluster 3.2. I presume I would need some sort of start up script, rsync.conf file and a password file. What sort of entries would I need to put in the rsync.conf file? (need to sync data between two folders every 15mins)

I am just getting started with my readyNAS 4450 (sol11 laptop client) and am encountering similar problems. It appears that ssh access is not allowed with some hacking about. As such rsync --rsh=ssh isn't going to work. Further, there appears to be some goofy rsync syntax that is required. The docs on the "help" page of FrontView are accurate, which is to say, do the following:
rsync -a [local_files] user@IPAddrOfNas::media/Music
note the double quote, it really is required and it will work. To my surpriuse, you'll see this listed and a sample syntax in the rsync man page as well. I was surprised that it was required
My problem is that my unit only has 256M so I believe I am running out of memory on the NAS appliance. I have yet to complete an rsync of my data :(

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

You cannot sync the two devices over WiFi at all. You can turn on automatic downloads on both devices in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Automatic Downloads>Apps>On, whatever you download on one device will download to other device as well.

All you have to do is include a new e-mail account [email protected] (set it as a default) on Outlook with the options that are showed in the thread I linked and you should have the calendars and tasks syncronised. It works perfectly with ipod touch, ipad and Outlook 2010 on windows 7.

I am trying to find a way to automatically keep my contacts (and calendars, but will focus on contacts here) in sync with external devices.
Currently I have host a CardDAV server using Owncloud. I have my OS X Contacts linked to the CardDAV account, but this results in TWO separate databases of contacts. The local one and the CardDAV one. I have found no easy way to keep them in sync. I need the remote one in order to sync other (Android) devices to it.
So I am now looking at using OS X Server and ditching Owncloud. Just having the local contacts share from a local OS X Server. With Server being only $20, I am fine with going that way. As I don't really need my data synced to the cloud. It's fine to sync over my local network.
For some smart Apples out there... I have a few questions:
1) Is there a way to keep local contacts and remote CardDAV contacts synchronised?
2) (...if not) Is there a way to use OS X Server to run as a CardDAV server which my other devices can then access over the local network?
I have installed Server. And I activated sharing of contacts. But I could find no info/instructions on how to access that from a client device. What is the server URL for the CardDAV server?

You're right. Now that I think through it, I'm not sure it is possible as you have duplicates.
There is a "Look for Duplicates" command, but I think it limits itself to duplicates in the same account.
You could export all of the On My Mac contacts to vCard, then delete them out of Contacts.
Then, go into Contacts Preferences and set you CardDAV server as default.
Double-click the exported vCard to import. It should try to import them into your CardDAV server.
Click the button to Review Duplicates when the import dialog appears.
You can then click the Apply to All checkbox and choose Keep Old. That should import all the non-duplicates and leave the originals on the cardDAV server account.
I would then run the Look for Duplicates with the CardDAV account selected in Contacts group pane. If you have any that were not identified as duplicates during the import, you should find them with that.
As to the Server, there is a Server forum, here. You might ask there.

When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone. I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether. Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal. The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date. In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone. How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal? If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone? All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone. The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. I bought a WRT54GX ver. 2 router. I wanna know how to setup the IP address say 128.1.50.136 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0 (Class B network)? By the way, 128.1.0.0 is my network zone.
If the router can't change, what should I do? Any other router support Class B network?

It does not have that because it does not support it... the router runs on CLASS C only because it was designed and made for SOHO only... bussiness lines of Linksys or Cisco can do that....but not this router...

How often does the Apple TV sync with updated home sharing playlists?

I am trying to use several Apple TV's at my business for content management throughout our campus. I want to be able to have a playlist of pictures and videos that is easy to update. Can anyone tell me how often the Apple TV syncs with the home sharing network for an updated playlist? It would be very inconvenient if the only way was to do a reboot on every device each time content was updated.

I can't really say for sure how often the Apple TV updates its shared libraries.
I do however know that once the Apple TV as completed playing something, it will sync with the shared library in order to update the play count. So I'd be reasonably sure that the shared library is updated at least once every time something is played.

I've been working with the team at PayPal to allow BC Partners to set up a cost effective way to setup a Seamless Transaction Shopping Cart Process on their BC eCommerce website without the need for a 3rd Party Merchant Provider like eWay or Secure Pay or their bank. This is designed for entry level businesses who want to control their setup costs and keep all funds in one place (PayPal).
Currently BC doesn't support Paypal's Payments Pro plan in Australia so you are limited with either a non-seamless payment process or using a 3rd Party Merchant provider with can be costly.
Without going into too much detail, the setup on PayPal's side is a mixture of a couple of plans, and is a little complicated however through our discussions we come to an arrangement of any additional fee's associated with the setup being waived since this is more so of a technical workaround than anything else.
Basically PayPal is the merchant provider, and the customer doesn't leave your website when making a purchase through the Shopping Cart. The setup is only $25/month plus transaction fees of between 1.1 to 2.4% + 30 cents depending on the number of payments (this is just an initial guide and confirmed on your discussion with the PayPal).
Because the setup involves quite a few steps and departments I've arranged a contact that will fast track this process and is familiar with this unique setup.
How to setup PayPal for a Seamless Transaction Process
Sign up for PayPal Business account Timeframe: <20 minutes

Dennis, sounds like you are having issues connecting to your network. Here is what we are going to do.
On your first question, and second question for that matter, I would suggest using a WPA password. Our printers doe not associate with the other types as well as WPA. You should be able to do that, though I have not personally set up a router that way to have experience in how it will react with the networked devices. As for the issues you are having, once the settings are all in the correct order I am going to suggest we connect the printer to the network through the computer.
What you will do is install the printer using a USB connection, then re-run the setup software. Here there should be an option for USB to Wireless. This will be the easiest way to be sure that all the settings are correctly transferred over.
