How to simulate tape slowing down?

Hi,
How would I simulate a tape deck slowing down in Logic? i.e., you hit stop and the song gradually comes to a halt.
Any advice/help would be appreciated!
thanks,
Joe

Here is how I would do it... a bit convoluted but it works..
1. bounce the end bars of the mixed song to a WAV file
2. create a new EXS or Knotakt patch with the resuting sample mapped to a key - and map
pitch bend to pitch as agressively as you like
3. trigger the sample at exactly the right point
4. mute the end your track bar the new sample instrument
5. waggle the pitch bend down as to play the end of your track..
bingo...
As I said a little complex... but great fun !

  • Is it possible to upgrade Oct 2013 MBP-r SSD how much before it slows down?

    Hi all,
    I was just wondering if its possible for Apple to upgrade the SSD in my macbook pro retina oct 2013 model,
    I sorely wish that I had gone for the 256GB model really, I purchased applecare, so I don't want to void my warranty - besides, googling around I found out that there are no aftermarket upgrades available for it anyways.
    I have set time machine backup to backup manually (is this okay?, I Don't tend to make mistakes of emptying unwanted stuff in the trash, or is it likely ill need to use it for more than this?)
    Also, coming from PC's ive always noticed a considerable drop in performance once a drive starts getting alot of data, how much roughly does it take to slow down an SSD, is it the same as a spinny drive? Im still pretty new to OS X, first mac and first SSD and im panicking ive made a serious mistake purchasing such a small drive.
    Thanks alot for your patience, I did have a search but im not brilliant at searching lol

    Information for offloading data onto medium-speed and fast external disks:
    Standard disks on Thunderbolt connectors are a waste of money (limited by the rotating disk speed at ~100 MB/s).  Standard disks on USB 3.0 run just as fast as on Thunderbolt.  You can use an external Seagate 1 TB hybrid SSHD to run at the maximum USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt speeds when accessing the 8 GB SSD cache.
    Performance and price summary for Macs with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt connections:
    Expensive, Internal SSD,  Many 100s of MB/s,  120 to 1 TB GB capacity
    ~$100,  Standard disks on USB 3.0,  ~100 MB/s,  1 to 3 TB capacity
    (Avoid 4 TB disks.  They are not as reliable.)
    ~$200 and up,  Standard disks on Thunderbolt,  ~100 MB/s,  1 to 3 TB capacity
    (A waste of money.)
    ~$130,  Hybrid SSHD on USB 3.0,  ~100 to 200 MB/s,  1 TB capacity
    ($110 SSHD + $20 USB 3.0 enclosure)
    ~$210,  Hybrid SSHD on Thunderbolt,  ~100 to 300 MB/s,  1 TB capacity
    ($110 SSHD + $100 Thunderbolt enclosure)
    "Seagate Backup Plus Portable Thunderbolt Adapter “
    Expensive, External SSD,  ~350 MB/s,  120 to 1 TB GB capacity
    R/W disk speeds:
    USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt about equal at ~110 MB/s
    Firewire about 65% at ~60 to ~70 MB/s
    USB 2.0 about a third at ~35 to ~40 MB/s
    R/W SSD speeds:
    Thunderbolt fastest at ~355 to ~370 MB/s
    USB 3.0 second at ~165 to ~195 MB/s
    Firewire third at ~60 to ~70 MB/s
    USB 2.0 fourth at ~40 MB/s

  • OpenScript : How to simulate ctrl key down?

    Hi,
    How do I simulate ctrl key down action in OpenScript?
    Couldnt get much info from oracle.oats.scripting.modules.functionalTest.api.FunctionalTestService.typeKeys() documentation about the keys value to be used.
    Or is there any better way?
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    I wanted to select multiple elements so I wrote the code like below,
    Robot robot = new Robot();
    robot.delay(1000);
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_C);
    web.element(xpath).click();
    web.element(xpath1).click();
    web.element(xpath2).click();
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_C);
    Didnt work, so I tried keypress before each element click, but still that also didnt help.
    Same case with
    web.element("/web:window[@index='0']/web:document[@index='0']")
    .keyPress("<CTRL-SHIFT-F5>")
    My requirement is, I need to click multiple elements with Control key down.
    Please suggest me a solution.
    Thanks,

  • How to disable ThrottleEvent slowing down

    Hi,
    I am making original media player using OSMF 2.0.
    But, I have a problem with my media player when ThrottleEvent fired (moved to hidden tab on browser), the video's sound skips.
    I read references, and this article http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/mobile/WS4bebcd66a74275c36cfb8137124318eebc6-8000.html ,
    but I couldn't find how to disable the minimizing CPU usage feature on Flash Player, or simply playback video without sound skips.
    Some video player like YouTube doesn't have the same problem, I think there is a solution for this problem.
    If anyone know the answer, please let me know.
    Thanks

    SOLVED.
    I increased stage framerate to 60 fps, the problem not occured anymore.
    I have set my stage framerate as 1 fps before so that the video's framerate itself doesn't matter stage framerate.
    Then, I increased the framerate to 15 fps sound better, and 30 fps almost fine, 60 fps doesn't have any problem.
    Thanks for reading,, and I hope this will help someone in the near future.

  • Speed up/slow down clips

    Hi
    I must be missing a trick here. Does anyone know how to speed up/slow down clips in i-movie?
    Any help appreciated,

    Did apple actually decide not to add these feature on IM08. If so why?
    I doubt the Apple made a conscious decision to remove any features. It is more likely the current inability to "thread" the command structure that is causing all of the problems. Basically, the old application allowed third-parties to create code routines that could be selected and called directly/immediately by the user when he or she wished to create a special effect. In essence, the source data is passed to the called routine, modified on the spot, and then inserted into the "timeline" replacing the source content. However, iMovie '08 does not perform any immediate/direct processing. Instead, it lists the source segments to be modified and states what "effect" is to be applied. No real action is taken until the file is actually to be shared or exported. Then, and only then, is a physical movie created. Therefore, the problem is to create an application (iMovie '08) with the capability of extending its own command list, as well as, define these new commands as a process or series of processes which can be called independently at a later time. If your are familiar with FORTH or a similar programming language which has a threaded command structure (i.e., one in which you can define new commands in terms of previously defined commands and formally add them to the command list/structure) then you will likely understand the problems that need to be overcome here by Apple and all third-party companies likely to be involved in creating/re-creating "plug-ins" for iMovie '08.

  • IMovie 08 - Speed up/ slow down clips

    anybody know how to speed up / slow down clips in iMovie 08?
    thanks

    You can do slow motion with iMovie 08, but it requires the assistance of other programs.
    Give the more powerful iMovie 06 a try, you'll find these features and others built in.
    Below is a short video showing how slow motion works.

    iMovie 06 is a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)

    Much has been written about the differences between iMovie 06 and iMovie 08. I have found the below link to be helpful.

  • Slowing down clip has a strobing effect(choppy)? How can I smooth it out?

    Hi guys,
    When I slow down the clip, it plays back choppy or with a strobing effect.
    How can I smooth it out in FCP5?
    Anyone please,
    Many thanks in advance,
    Zia

    Zia,
    I would double check that the 'frame blending' option is selected. Otherwise, is the original footage interlaced or progressive? If you shot progressive and only have 29.97 frames (or less) to work with, you might want to try a plug-in. If the frames do not exist, it will probably be difficult to get a really smooth look.
    Should you have shot at 30i (aka 60i), you can do some high tech stuff with a playback deck and your original tape- set the deck to progressive and the 60 fields will be tranformed into 60 frames (per second), hence giving a slow motion feel that rivals that of film. (this depends on your original media and what deck you can get your hands on)
    I just did this for a music video and even the best DPs that I know thought it was film.

  • Slowing down the "tape"

    When I recorded in analog, if there was a note that was too high for me to hit singing, the engineer would slow down the tape, thus lowering the key a bit, then I'd sing to it, then he'd speed the tape back up to normal. It was a great trick for those notes that were just out of your range. How would I do this in Garageband? Thanks!

    Do I change the pitch of the guitars and bass down, record the vocals, then change the pitch of the guitars back and and also change the vocal up to match?
    yes, just like the tape effect (minus the tempo change)
    Are there set increments to get it perfect?
    numbers are displayed, so set it to what you need, and note the -delta before removing the effect so that you can use the same +delta on your vox

  • How to test hardware on an old MacBook Pro that is slowing down.

    I have the very first-gen MacBook Pro 2.0gHz Core Duo, 2gb ram.  I have been using this laptop as my primary since I got it, mostly for development work (Java, Objective-C, Web, etc), but also email, general web surfing, and the occational game (although, not in a while).
    Recently, I noticed things were starting to "slow down".  Well, not slow down so much as things would get long pauses.  For instance, I hit a site in Google Chrome, and the app sits there for like 20-30sec of longer, as if the window is frozen, then *poof*, it draws the page.  Sometime, Chrome will even pop up asking if I want to kill the page.  It is not the only application that seems to be suffering from this, I just spend a LOT of time on the web, so I tend to notice it much more.
    Even more recently, my SpringSource Tool Suite (STS, a custom Eclipse with a bunch of SpringSource plugins) started acting up too.  Mostly when I start the Roo Shell and execute a command, STS (read Eclipse) will show the command as "executing", but it seemed to never run.  I thought it was maybe a problem with STS or the Roo Shell plugin, but yesterday I ran something as a test, then got a phone call and didn't come back for some time.  To my surprise after more than 40min of just sitting there the command ran.  Once it ran, it ran in full, normal speed (the command I ran was to rebuild the Eclipse project files using Maven).  So, what I thought was frozen was merely paused for a long period of time, just like what I was seeing in Chrome.
    So, this has lead me to believe I either have some sort of hardware issue, some sort of heat issue (I have seen this on Wintel laptops where the processor "speed steps" down to almost 33mHz), or some sort of software issue.  I really don't want to have to re-install OS X, if I can avoid it.  I did boot off the original disks that came with my laptop and ran the Hardware Test, but it came back with no errors.  I have iStat Pro installed as well, and the fan speeds are usually around 1800-2000rpm, sometimes jumping to 4000+rpm.  CPU tempuratures report around 151º.  I also ran the Disk Utility off my 10.6 disks.  I do know that my DVD burner no longer burns disks, but it hasn't for more than a year.
    Laptop specs:
      - MacBook Pro, Model MacBookPro1,1
      - OS X 10.6.8
      - 2.0gHz Core Duo w/ 2gb DDR2 RAM
      - Toshiba MK3252GSX 320gb HDD (replacement for factory 120gb HDD over 1.5yrs ago due to space issues)
      - I recently replaced the battery, as the old one had expanded.  I use the laptop on wall power 99% of the time.
    Thanks,
    Mike Bauer

    As mentioned above, I did do this.  What I am not so certain is how intensive this test is.  Stated another way: If this was ran and passed 100%, does this mean everything on my laptop is 100% functional, like the fans, processor, cooling, memory, etc?  The drive also checked out when I did the Disk Utility from the 10.6 install CDs, and the S.M.A.R.T. check indicates no disk errors.
    Maybe I should take it into a Genius and have them look at it.  Just not sure how much that will cost me, and its an old laptop, so I don't want to put too much into it.

  • Safari is slow to open and close. It also slows down other apps while running. Should I reload safari and if so, how do I do so?

    Safari is slow to open and close. It also slows down other apps while it is running. How can I resolve this issue?

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
    If there's no improvement, continue as follows.
    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.
