How to Specify Metadata When Adding Content Using iTunes U Web Service?
I've been developing Java applications using iTunes U Web service and uploaded content to iTunes U site using iTunes U Web service without problem. Now I want to add metadata fields (name, artist name, album name, etc.) for the tracks I uploaded. It seems to me that "AddTrack" will do. So I tested it but it neither adds a track under the specified group nor updates metadata fields for an existing track. It turned out "MergeTrack" actually updates metadata fields for an existing track. So is there any way to specify metadata at the time of adding content using iTunes U Web service? And what exactly does AddTrack do? This is all about contents hosted by iTunes U site and no RSS is involved.
I'm referring to the "AddTrack" method in iTunes U Web service:
http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/iTunesUAdministrationGuide/iTunesUWebServices/c hapter18_section_21.html#//appleref/doc/uid/AdminGuide-CH13-SW26Thanks for all the replies. My question is whether there is any way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service. Specifying metadata AFTER adding content can be achieved by MergeTrack (weird naming) and it does work.
As for setting track level meta-data in the media file and then upload it, there're several reasons against that, among which are:
1. Some track metadata are context-dependent. A video about buildings on Michigan Ave in Chicago can be track #2 in a history course and described as "historic view of the Magnificent Mile", but the same media can also be track #5 in a landscape design course and described as something like "contemporary architecture". Setting these metadata in the media file itself is not the preferred way to do it since it implies maintaining a version of the same media for any course/group it gets uploaded to.
2. Setting metadata in a location separate from the media file helps track the metadata change and search for media without digging into the media itself.
3. If MergeTrack "updates" metadata, there got to be some other method that "creates" metadata - that's what a well-designed API should look like. And setting metadata in the media file is not an equivalent to a "create metadata" method call. In rickwolf's term, that implicit AddTrack should actually be made explicit so the party uploading content can explicitly specify metadata instead of having iTunes U extract metadata from the media.
It is still not clear what "AddTrack" does exactly, maybe rickwolf is right - it's only relevant to tracks created through RSS.
So it seems to me there is no other way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service than setting metadata in the media file. To me it is more like a design flaw.

How to specify -preview when launching via AppleScript
I have an InDesign Server CS5.5.I have a shell script that waits for xml files to be placed into a certain directory on the server. When it sees a file in the folder it launches an applescript that controls InDesign Server. I need to know how to specify the -preview option for the InDesign Server binary so the files generated by the server will have previews when they are opened in InDesign client. The apple scripts look like this:
tell application "InDesign Server"
-- do some stuff
end tell
Where/how would I specify the -preview option. I see nothing referring to the -preview option in the Library for indesign.There's two ways to set it:
1) in command line when you launch the executable, there's a preview option. I don't remember off hand the exact syntax.
2) In the script itself (using Javascript syntax -- Applescript would be similar) app.serverSettings.imagePreview = true;

How to specify table name using xdoclet
Hi
I'm trying to specify a table name using xdoclet 1.2.
I've tried the @sql.table, but that ain't working (no table mapping name is
writen to the *.jdo)
I've tried using the @jdo.class-vendor-extension with key=table and
value=tablename, but that ain't working either.
I guess number two approach ain't working because kodo want table name
extension inside another extension like this:
<extension vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map" value="base">
<extension vendor-name="kodo" key="table" value="tablename"/>
</extension>
But, how do I specify the above using xdoclet?
Regards
JesperOk.
Is it possible somehow to just tell kodo to use another table name without
having to create mapping extensions for collections and stuff. Even better
if one could specify a table name prefix to be used on all tables.
My problem is that I need use kodo on an existing database having tables
names that conflict with kodo's auto-generated tables names. The schematool
will then try alter these tables :-(

When you use metadata mapping extensions, you should not generate
.mapping files as all that info is stored in the .jdo file. You should
instead set kodo.jdbc.MappingFactory to metadata.
Jesper Ladegaard wrote:
Thanks.
However, I still can't get it to work.
I've created a java class named Role with xdoclet like this:
* @jdo.persistence-capable
* @jdo.class-vendor-extension
* vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map" value="base"
* @jdo.class-vendor-extension
* vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map/table" value="BW_ROLE"
* @jdo.class-vendor-extension
* vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map/pk-column" value="JDOID"
Xdoclet generates a jdo file like this:
<jdo>
<package name="dk.pine.users.services.model">
<class name="Role"
identity-type="datastore"
<!-- end class tag --><extension vendor-name="kodo"
key="jdbc-class-map"
value="base">
</extension>
<extension vendor-name="kodo"
key="jdbc-class-map/table"
value="BW_ROLE">
</extension>
<extension vendor-name="kodo"
key="jdbc-class-map/pk-column"
value="JDOID">
</extension>
<field name="users"
default-fetch-group="true"
<!-- end field tag --><collection
element-type="dk.pine.users.services.model.User"
embedded-element="false"
<!-- end collection tag --></collection>
<extension vendor-name="kodo"
key="inverse-owner"
value="roles">
</extension>
</field>
</class>
</package>
</jdo>
Now I run the mappingtool (with option refresh) and it generates a
mapping
file like this:
<mapping>
<package name="dk.pine.users.services.model">
<class name="Role">
<jdbc-class-map type="base" pk-column="JDOID"
table="dbo.ROLE0"/>
<jdbc-version-ind type="version-number"column="JDOVERSION"/>
<jdbc-class-ind type="in-class-name" column="JDOCLASS"/>
<field name="description">
<jdbc-field-map type="value" column="DESCRIPTION"/>
</field>
<field name="name">
<jdbc-field-map type="value" column="NAME0"/>
</field>
<field name="systemRole">
<jdbc-field-map type="value" column="SYSTEMROLE"/>
</field>
<field name="users">
<jdbc-field-map type="many-many"
element-column.JDOID="JDOID" ref-column.JDOID="ROLES_JDOID"
table="dbo.USER0_ROLES"/>
</field>
</class>
</package>
</mapping>
I expected it to create a BW_ROLE, but it create a ROLE0 table????

You can use slashes to denote sub extensions.
See the example near the bottom of this link:

K3011w - How disable the touchpad when using USB mouse?
Is there a way to disable the touchpad on the docking keybd when using a USB mouse? It is a real pain typing along and be in the middle of sentence some where else on the page.
hi whippetguy,
Thanks for Posting,
The touchpad on the dock uses a Windows driver and does not have any special Software to Disable it via shortcut,
How I found to go around on what you need is
With the tablet on the dock with no USB mouse yet
Press (Windows key+x) and choose device manager on the list
On Device Manager window open mice and pointing device and rightclick disable
This should disable the dock touchpad and Now you can plu in your USB mouse,
Before you unplu your USB mouse after use, Go to device manager again and Enable the device you disabled.
Hope this helps

How to suppress SCHEMA_OWNER when using DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL
Hi,
I was wondering, is it possible to suppress the owner when using dbms_metadata.get_ddl?
SQL> select * from v$version where rownum = 1
BANNER
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
SQL> exec dbms_metadata.set_transform_param (dbms_metadata.session_transform,'SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES',false)
SQL> select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('TABLE','EMP') from dual
DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('TABLE','EMP')
CREATE TABLE "SCOTT"."EMP"
( "EMPNO" NUMBER(4,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,
"ENAME" VARCHAR2(10),
"JOB" VARCHAR2(9),
"MGR" NUMBER(4,0),
"HIREDATE" DATE,
"SAL" NUMBER(7,2),
"COMM" NUMBER(7,2),
"DEPTNO" NUMBER(2,0)
)I would like to get rid of the "SCOTT". Alternatively to change it into something else.
Is that possible, without post processing the output, that is?
Regards
PeterHi Karthick,
I was afraid that would be the answer. It can be done, but it seems rather convoluted:
SQL> create or replace function get_table_ddl(table_name varchar2
,schema varchar2 default user
,new_owner varchar2 default null)
return clob
is
v_handle number;
v_transhandle number;
v_ddl clob;
begin
v_handle := dbms_metadata.open('TABLE');
dbms_metadata.set_filter(v_handle, 'SCHEMA', schema);
dbms_metadata.set_filter(v_handle, 'NAME', table_name);
v_transhandle := dbms_metadata.add_transform(v_handle, 'MODIFY');
dbms_metadata.set_remap_param(v_transhandle,'REMAP_SCHEMA',schema,new_owner);
v_transhandle := dbms_metadata.add_transform(v_handle, 'DDL');
dbms_metadata.set_transform_param(v_transhandle,'SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES',false);
v_ddl := dbms_metadata.fetch_clob(v_handle);
dbms_metadata.close(v_handle);
return v_ddl;
end;
Function created.
SQL> select get_table_ddl('EMP') from dual
GET_TABLE_DDL('EMP')
CREATE TABLE "EMP"
( "EMPNO" NUMBER(4,0) NOT NULL ENABLE,
"ENAME" VARCHAR2(10),
"JOB" VARCHAR2(9),
"MGR" NUMBER(4,0),
"HIREDATE" DATE,
"SAL" NUMBER(7,2),
"COMM" NUMBER(7,2),
"DEPTNO" NUMBER(2,0)
1 row selected.Regards

How to define range when using oo environment
Hi all,
I have a doubt regarding this when using OO:
DATA: spfli_wa TYPE spfli,
r_carrid TYPE RANGE OF spfli-carrid,
r_carrid_line LIKE LINE OF r_carrid.
Is there a structure I can do "type" for the work-area?
Thanks in advance,
Edited by: orgasmics on Sep 9, 2010 9:23 PMHello,
if you maintain or develop your class in transaction SE24 for example, then you will find a button Local Types in the Icon Bar.
Click on it and define a Type range.
E.g.
TYPES : rnge_bukrs TYPE RANGE OF bukrs.
TYPES : rnge_line TYPE LINE OF rnge_bukrs.
That will create a range table type and a structure of the same type.
You can use these types in any data statements of any method in that class or attribute of your your class or interfaces of your methods.
Hope that is what you are looking for.

How is image resampled when using Crop Tool Presets?
If I use the Crop Tool preset of 4 X 6 inches on a 8 X 10 inch image of the same resolution, what type of interpolation does PS use to reduce the image size? I am reducing the size of a finished multilayered file to insert it into a greeting card template.
I know that when using the Image Size dialogue, you can choose whatever type of image interpolation you want, like bicubic sharper for reducing the size of an image. Can you do the same with the Crop Tool? Thanks.chris -
could this be included in the option bar to change the resampling per instance instead of a prefs setting? I set up some actions to change the prefs for up and down scaling and then revert to the default pref setting. But it was never convenient so I don't use the actions.
or maybe just and pref to use "smart scaling" that chooses the interpolation method based upon whether it is up or down scaling.

How to specify ejbgen options using wlcompile ?
We are using the split development model is WL8.1 are are using ant, specifically
ant target wlcompile for development. How does one specify for example a valueObjectSuffix
option for ejbgen, when auto generating value class(es) for CMP Entity Beans ?
Using ejbgen, the ant snippet below looks somewhat like:
<doclet name="weblogic.tools.ejbgen.EJBGen">
<param name="-jndiPrefix" value="......"/>
<param name="-valueObjectSuffix" value="MyValue"/>
<param name="-propertyFile" value="..."/>
</doclet>Unfortunately there's not a great integration between wlcompile and
ejbgen. There is already an enhancement request CR107150 for this one.
wlcompile only calls EJBGen on files which whose extension is .ejb. If
yours are .java, then you can just call ejbgen yourself after wlcompile
completes.
There's other approaches, (like wrapping the real EJBGen with your own
version that sets specific options) that would also work but require
more leg work from you.

How to specify target host in Access-list on 1700 router
I want to be able to specify the target host on an access list and when I try to enter the IP and sub-net mask I get wierd result. This is on a 1700 router. I type: access-list 100 permit tcp any XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX 255.255.255.248 eq smtp where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is a public IP of a virtual email server on my inside.
I get:
access-list 100 permit tcp any 0.0.0.2 255.255.255.248 eq smtp
Why does XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX get interpreted as 0.0.0.2?
Thanks,
DaveDave,
The address got converted to 0.0.0.2 because you used a subnet mask (255.255.255.248) where you should have used a wildcard mask (0.0.0.7).
Regardless of what the network portion of the address was, when the router sees "255" in any position in the wildcard mask, it interprets that as "it really doesn't matter what number is in this part of the IP address". So it corrects your notation and replaces that part of the IP address with the placeholder "0".
The fact that it put a ".2" at the end of the address indicates that the binary pattern of whatever XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX was ended in "010". The last octet was one of the numbers in this sequence: .2, .10, .18, ... (increments of 8), .114, or .122. The "248" in the last part of your wildcard mask told the router "it doesn't matter what number's here, as long as the last three binary bits match". The router just simplified the last .XXX you entered to the smallest number that had a matching binary pattern; in this case it was ".2".
Something to remember: Use subnet masks for static routes and interface addressing; and wildcard masks for ACLs.
The easiest way to calculate the wildcard mask you want, if you're used to seeing things in subnet mask format, is to subtract the subnet mask from 255.255.255.255. For example:
255.255.255.255
-255.255.255.248 (subnet mask)
0.0.0.7 (wildcard mask)
If you want to specify a single host address rather than a masked range of addresses, use the notation "host XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX". If you use the notation "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX 0.0.0.0" where 0.0.0.0 is the wildcard mask, the router will convert it to "host XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX". (Go ahead, try it and see.)
Similarly, if you want to specify all host addresses, use "any" as you have already done; or you can try "0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255" and the router will convert it to "any" for you. (Try this one too.)
Check out the useful IP Subnet Calculator download at http://www.Boson.com -- it's free:
Wildcard Mask Checker & Decimal-to-IP Calculator
a neat little utility to check what your wildcard mask actually matches, and, converts from Decimal to IP address format.

How to back up when using Disk Utility off the DVD
Hello. i ran into some problems installing snow leopard and can't get back into 10.5. i can only boot into my windows partition. how would i go about creating a back up from Disk Utility being run off of the installation dvd?
If your OS X partition cannot be accessed then you may not be able to back it up. If you have another computer with FireWire then you can try booting the computer into Target Disk Mode. If you can access the drive from the other computer, then you can try recovering your files. Otherwise see the following:
Basics of File Recovery
Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
