• How to start Debug server? No Redistributables?

Hi everyone,
Having issues with trying to run a Debug server for development testing. The server is not on the same dev box as Visual Studio, etc. It's a standalone W2008R2 box. I have the Debug version installed for testing but when trying to run it I get the 'side-by-side configuration error'.
Did a quick search and just installed the 2005 C++ redistributables but still no go.
So how can I get this Debug server up and running so we can develop against it without using our Production license?
There is zero Adobe documentation on this that I have found and quite frustrating for sure.
Edit:
I did a sxstrace and here are the results:

On the same server I have the Release version of 5.5 and it starts up with no issue. What's the point of the Debug/Developer version if it doesn't start? Do I need to reach out to my Adobe rep for answers on this?
Thanks for any help/tips/pointers.

Not speaking from InDesign experience here, but...
The sxstrace indicates it's the VC9 debug versions of the C runt time DLLs that the server wants to load. I think that corresonds to Visual Studio 2008, not 2005. If you have a licensed version of Visual Studio 2008 you can probably find the DLLs you are looking for in your Program Files (x86) folder. The debug DLLs are not licensed for redistribution by Microsoft so I don't think you'll find a 2008 version of a runtime debug installer anywhere.
In Visual Studio 2010 the equivalent DLLs would be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\redist\Debug_NonRedist\x64\Microsoft.VC100.DebugCRT .

• How to start listener in sql developer for remote debug

how to start listener in sql developer for remote debug ? Since the new version 1.1.0.23 is different with the old version for remote debug, I don't know how to start the listener on the new version for remote debug.
even follow the user guide below and not work . Experts on sql developer please help me with this.
Remote Debugging
To debug a procedure or function for a connection where the database is on a different host than the one on which you are
running SQL Developer, you can perform remote debugging.
Remote debugging involves many of the steps as for local debugging; however, do the
following before you start the remote debugging: Use an Oracle client such as SQL*Plus to issue the debugger connection command. Whatever
client you use, make sure that the session which issues the debugger connection commands is the same session which executes your PL/SQL
program containing the breakpoints.
For example, if the name of the remote system is remote1, use the following SQL*Plus command to open a
TCP/IP connection to that system and the port for the JDWP session:
EXEC DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP('remote1', '4000'); The first parameter
is the IP address or host name of the remote system, and the second parameter is the port number on that remote system on which the debugger
is listening.
Right-click the connection for the remote database, select Remote Debug, and complete the information in the Debugger - Attach
to JPDA dialog box. Then, follow the steps that you would for local debugging (for example, see Debugging a PL/SQL Procedure).
Debugger - Attach to JPDA This dialog box is displayed when you right-click a database connection name and select Remote Debug.
Use this
dialog box if you are using the Sun Microsystem's Java Platform Debugger Architecture (JPDA) and you would like the debugger to listen so
that a debuggee can attach to the debugger.
For more information about remote debugging, see Remote Debugging.
Host: Name or IP address of
the remote host on which SQL Developer should listen for the database to connect.
Port: Listening port number on the remote host. You can
choose any valid port number that is not in use by another process.
Timeout: The number of seconds that SQL Developer will wait for the
remote database to make a debugging connection. Don't Show Dialog Box Before Connecting: If this option is checked, this dialog box will not
be displayed before future connections for remote debugging

You're not the only one:
Not able to start remote debug listener

By inserting a BREAK statement in the routine you won't be able to debugg as the upload process is done in background.
Instead you should insert a code like this:

Then launch the process and go to transaction SM50 select the process and execute Program/Mode -> Program -> Debugging

• How Do You Debug Oracle Report Calls From Forms On The App Server?

I am working on a system which uses oracle forms and reports 10g.
In our system we call, we are calling oracle reports from oracle forms. How do we debug the form code when the form and report both are running on the application server in production.
To my knowledge, this can not be done when the form is running locally since there is only OC4J forms services locally.
I understand one views error messages through the jinitiator console but how does one turn on this facility? How do you determine what line the error occurred?
I am looking for step by step instructions as answer to this issue.
Please be specific. Please write in good English.

Good afternoon,
If you have the developer suite installed on your PC, run the report from your form and then follow this tree from the start button on your PC:
Developer Suite Home =>
Reports Developer =>
Oracle Application Server Report Services =>
Reports Queue Manager
Select View => Past Jobs and then find your report in the list, double-click the report entry and you'll see the error message that was generated by the Report Server when you tried to run the report.
Good luck,
Don.

Hi Arjun,
Based on the error message, it is hard for us to find the real reason for this issue directly.
Could you get any other error messages if you build your project? Please check the detailed error or warning messages in Error list window or the output window.
The reason why I suggest you run it with "start without debugging" is that if it still has certain issues without debugging, it means that it is not the debugging issue.
Maybe you could view the Event log to get more information.
Could you share us the detailed steps about how you debug your project?

• How to use debug my jdevloper devloped jsp applications using tomcat 4.0?

hello,
how to use debug my jdevloper devloped jsp applications using tomcat 4.0?
how to run with using tomcat path with browser?
can any one help?
thanks
pullareddy

Hi Pullareddy,
Charles' answer will work for Servlets in Tomcat, but debugging JSPs is a bit more complicated than debugging Servlets.
Here's what you need to do:
(I don't have Tomcat, so I don't know the details of Tomcat configuration files and I can't guarentee that Tomcat provides the flexibility so that you can configure it for debugging JSPs. Each application server is configured a bit differently. Hopefully you can adjust the following instructions to Tomcat.)
1. You need to replace Tomcat's JSP engine with OJSP and you need to setup debugging parameters for OJSP.
This is not specifically in the JDev documentation, but you may be able to apply the information found in the topic "Remote Debugging in OC4J".
Here are some tips:
A. You'll probably need to specify the following jars in some Tomcat config file: ojsp.jar, ojsputil.jar, xmlparserv2.jar, ojc.jar, and jdev-rt.jar.
B. The OJSP class name is oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.
C. The debug parameters are:
debug_mode = true
developer_mode = true
encode_to_java = true
emit_debuginfo = true
jspjavacompiler = oracle.jdevimpl.jsp.JspOjcCompiler
2. You need to make Tomcat start the Java command with debugging options. (This is what Charles was talking about. One of the debug options is -XXdebug). This is in the JDev documentation in the topic "Starting a Java Process in Debug Mode". Please read that documentation help topic.
3. You need to delete any old .java or .class files which were created in the past for your JSP. If you leave old .java or .class files around, then the debugger may not be able to stop at breakpoints in your JSPs. So, be sure to clean up old files.
4. Set your project settings for remote debugging. This is on the Debugger - Remote panel in the Project Settings dialog box. You probably want either Attach to OJVM or Attach to JPDA. Which radio button you choose depends on what command line options you specified in step 2.

• How to do debugging in WebLogic from JDeveloper

Hi All,
We in our project are just starting to use JDeveloper instead of Visual Cafe with Weblogic as App. Server. However i am facing this problem while debugging an EJB deployed from JDeveloper 9i to Weblogic 6.1.
On Clicking Debug|Debug <Project-name> brings up a dialog. After leaving the address field blank(Weblogic running on localhost, and as per your documentation, localhost is default) and port as 5000 (transport_dt_socket set as 5000), the following message comes:
Debugger attempting to connect to remote process at LocalHost 5000.And it doesn't do anything more.
Awaiting for your reply on this.
regards,
Hiamnshu

Hi,
The most important thing is that you need to ensure that WebLogic is start the Java command with debugging options. This is in the JDev documentation in the topic "Starting a Java Process in Debug Mode".
If you have JSP's and servlets you have other steps as well. I have included the generic steps for any application server. We have plans to post a 'How to remote debug JSP's deployed on Weblogic' in the near future. Keep posted.
1. You need to replace WebLogic's JSP engine with OJSP and you need to
setup debugging parameters for OJSP. This is not specifically in the JDev documentation, but you may be able to apply the information found in the topic "Remote Debugging in OC4J".
Here are some tips:
A. You'll probably need to specify the following jars in some WebLogic config file. The jar files are all located in <jdev_install>/lib/
xmlparserv2.jar
ojc.jar
jdev-rt.jar
ojsp.jar
ojsputil.jar
B. Add these jar files to the VM's classpath
C. The OJSP class name is oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet. You will need to specify this class where you configure your JSP engine information.
D. You need to pass the following debug parameters. Again this is set up in the app server configuration file(s):

Well we use QM recording and the Cisco IP Communicator - if your are using the communicator save yourself a lot of time and headaches by ensuring your device name is in the SEPxxxxxx format - it has to be the MAC - no other format will work.
Secondly to enable recording your CAD users you will need to enable them through the "quality management administrator" application. You will need to link them and license them as well. You won't be able to do any recording unless they are licensed. The debug logs under C:\Program Files\Cisco\WFO_QM\log are helpful as well. Once you have everything configured properly don't expect to see anything under the "Recordings" tab right away but you may see recordings pop into "Archives" when you search for one of the users you are recording.

• How can i debug my abap program?

hi. how can i debug my program?

Hi,
There are many ways to start debugger
• By clicking the Execute button and selecting the debugging mode.
• From the ABAP/4 editor, by executing a program choosing Program  Execute  Debugging from the menu.
• Setting breakpoint in the program
Components of ABAP/4 debugger
The debugger shows the program information using six different views.
• Fields: Displays the field contents.
• Table: Allows modifying the contents of internal table.
• Breakpoints: Displays list of Breakpoint in the Program.
• Watchpoints: Allows dealing with Watchpoints.
• Calls: System call status like Event, Form etc.,
• Overview: Presents the program structure, events, subroutines, and modules.
• Settings: Displays the calling sequence within a particular event, up to the current breakpoint.
All these options are shown in the following screen.
Arrow indicates the breakpoint of the program i.e., where user has stopped the program.
Breakpoints
A breakpoint is the signal, which is specified in the program, tells the system to stop the program execution and to start the debugger. Following types of breakpoint are available with ABAP/4:
• Static are set up with the BREAKPOINT keyword inside the program, which you can directly display with the ABAP/4 source code editor. To set the breakpoint in the program enters the keyboard BREAKPOINT.
• Dynamic this breakpoint is not visible in the code. Position the cursor over the source code line to have the breakpoint and then select utilities -  breakpoint -  set. You can delete them or display them from breakpoint list. Or you can execute the program in the ABAP/4 debugger i.e., in debugging mode.
• Watchpoints are field specific. The program is stopped when the field reaches the value specified in the watchpoint. Execute the program in debugging mode. Position the cursor over the needed field. Press the F button to get the view of field. Select the checkbox for the needed watchpoint. Click on the continue button.
• Keywords/events The program stops just before executing a specific event or keyword. To set breakpoint at particular event, from initial screen of debugger, select Breakpoint  Breakpoint at  at event/at keyword. Enter the name of the keyword or event. Click on OK.
Navigating through the breakpoint
Following buttons are used to navigate through the program and debugger.
• Single step: Executes a single program command.
• Execute: Similar to the single step, but when a program calls a subroutine, it executes the whole subroutine unlike single step.
• Continue: Executes the program until it is finished or until it finds next breakpoint.
• Return: Allows for executing the program instruction up to the end of a routine and stops in the line of code where the subroutine gives back control to the main program.
• Tables: Switches the debugger to the table view.
Displaying and modifying values
Every time the program is stopped within a debugger, you can display and modify the contents of table field and fields.
To display the fields, click on V and you can view the contents of system field, program field, ABAP/4 dictionary fields, and external program fields.
Displaying and modifying internal tables
When you click on the Table button from the initial ABAP/4 debugger screen, the system will display the table debugger view. Here you need to enter the name of the internal table to be displayed. You can modify or delete or add i.e., insert the internal table Contents. These changes are applicable only for the debugging and do not affect the structure of internal table in the program.
Reward.

thank you!

First you keep a break point in the program
Step#1.
RSNAST00 (on the below mentioned code).
PERFORM (TNAPR-RONAM) IN PROGRAM (TNAPR-PGNAM) USING RETURNCODE
US_SCREEN
IF FOUND.
and now in VA01 , just start Debugging after you choose the Output type using /H at the command.
now you will see the Debugging , now choose the menu Settings->Update Debugging
this will activate the Update Debugging.
Now Press F8. now another window will open , in that you it will stop near the break point in the step 1 .
