How to store Array of Strings in MS-Access

Dear all,
i am facing a problame from the couple of days can any one plzzzzzzz guide what should i do to over come my problame....>
I want to store a String array in Microsoft Access database but i couldn't find the way how can i do so
public class ArrayJDBC {
/** Creates a new instance of ArrayJDBC */
public ArrayJDBC() {
public static void main(String[] args){
System.out.println("main started");
new ArrayJDBC().enterArray();
System.out.println("main after data entry");
public void enterArray(){
Connection con = null;
PreparedStatement pstm = null;
String dataSource = "checkArray";
String query = "INSERT INTO array(Object) VALUES(?)";
String[] strArray = {"one","two","three"};
con = new JDBCConnection().makeConnection(dataSource);
try{
pstm = con.prepareStatement(query);
System.out.println("pstmt created");
pstm.setObject(1,strArray);
System.out.println("array seted as object");
int r = pstm.executeUpdate();
System.out.println("data updated "+r);
pstm.close();
con.close();
}catch(SQLException se){
System.out.println("Data could not be update "+se);
this is my class the conncection is already established.
i use updateObject() method but it doesnt work..
plz guide me that how can i store
strArray in Microsoft Access and also tell me that what should be the data type in my database i.e ms-access

Well easiest way to do that is to create a single String where the values from array will be separated by some separator for example semicolon so you will get "one;two;three" this string you will store in database as a text, then when you read it back you need to parse it again to get an array of Strings. I am originally C# programmer there i would do serialization to XML and store it into database try looking here http://iharder.sourceforge.net/current/java/xmlizable/ they are creating XML Serializer.

  • How to store array of data into a single row of  table ,using any of Stmts

    HI Friends,
    Based on my requirements ,i have retrived a set of data from a XXX.jsp page using a request.getParameter() and stored into single dimenssional array . Now i am paassing that array to JAVA class to store a into some table .
    In JSP page users can add text boxes dynamically based on his intrest then those attributes will store in table .it means table attributes are not conatant , it table attributes may change at any time when user adds any textboxs or any fields on JSP page ....thats my module ..
    Now i wanted to store all array of data into Table in a single row .......thats is my requirements .
    How can we use prepareStatement and Statement to store array of results intoo table row ...on each iteration i wanted to store array of results into table atributes ..It means entire array of results should to into table row at time .....coule any one write sytax ,how we do this...
    could any one suggest me stps that i can impliment ......?....please reply ASAP

    Well ..you code can be works for constant number of attributes in table .oopss here my requirement is table attributes not fixed ,we cant put constant number of place holder(? ) in a statement ,because those are not fixed ,
    Let me explain here :
    i am doing in that way only. As i mentioned you Table attributes are not constant .It may very if users add any fields dynamically on JSP page .If users have option to add any text box on Jsp page ,then that attribute will store in table as a attribute .
    Now i amable fetching the all dyamic form data and stored in a Result Array below ...in this iteration all form result data are from jsp page as suggestion form ,it should stored in table in single row on corrsponding attribtes ......next time when users fills FROM ,then those data i am fetching and storing in a Result Array as below and need to store in corrsponding table attributes in a single row ....
    for(int i=0;i<result.length;i++)
                   System.out.println(result);
                   pst3=connection.prepareStatement("insert into *emprecord* values(?)");
                   if(!result[i].equals(""))
                        System.out.println(result[i]);
                             pst3.setString(1,result[i]);
                             pst3.executeUpdate();
    Thnks in advance ....let me know the the way we can store dynamic form data into dyanamic table ...

  • How to return array of String to a java program.! ??

    Hi All,
    I am new to JNI programming. so trying with simple example. I am having one problem. I have one array of String in my Java program. I want to reverse all the elements in this array and want back this new array in the same form i.e. array of string. So how can I do this ??
    Please guide me.....
    The function of defination of array in my java code is
    public native String[] getReverseStringArray(String[] arrString);
    where as my array is like:
    String[] arrStr = {"one", "two", "three", "four", "","c","J^Ji"};
    and I am calling function in C file like:
    arrStr = employee.getReverseStringArray(arrStr);
    and the function defination in my c file is
    JNIEXPORT jobjectArray JNICALL
    Java_Emp_getReverseStringArray (JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jobjectArray arr)

    Hi,
    this is quite simple. Here an example function that works like this:
    JNIEXPORT jobjectArray JNICALL Java_cadagent_ugopen_UgAssembly_jni_1getStructure
    (JNIEnv *env, jclass cls, jstring part)
    jobjectArray retvals = NULL;
    jstring j_val = NULL;
    int child_count = 5;
    /* initialize return array */
    j_val = (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, "");
    retvals = (*env)->NewObjectArray(env, child_count, (*env)->FindClass(env, "java/lang/String"), j_val);
    for (i=0;i<child_count;i++)
    j_val = (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, "some text");
    (*env)->SetObjectArrayElement(env, retvals,i, j_val);
    return retvals;
    Hope this answers you question.

  • How to compare array of String with column of a table

    Hi,
    i have a array of string(say array is of length 1000). I want to
    compare those string in array with one table column
            - whether that table column has a string
                            if yes
                                            do nothing.
                            if no
                                            then insert that string into table.
            - whether table has obsolete row i.e, the one present in table and
    not in array
                            then delete that row.
    How do i go about this, because i see, it is not feasible to loop
    through array and search table to find new string OR loop through each
    row from table to find some obsolete row
    How can i accomplish this task more feasibly(without running query for
    each string, for comparission)? Is there any way to find this kind of
    problem. I would have been easy if i had to compare two tables(with
    UNION and INTERSECT), but it is not the case.
    thanks,
    kath.

    I'm not sure, whether I understand your problem correctly. Only two comments:
    - if both arrays are sorted, all can be done running exactly once simultaneously through both arrays.
    - if the column is marked as UNIQUE, all column strings will be different. I.e. you cannot insert the same string a second time.

  • How to store the value into variable and access it in RMAN script

    I want to create a variable and dynamically assign a numeric value to it (may get the value may be from SQL )and access the value in RMAN script.
    Thanks...Raj

    Raj,
    We have been getting this type of request and it is not possible via RMAN to do that.
    BUT--You could write a sql/plus script to query your variable and produce the RMAN script with the new value.
    Just a suggestion.

  • Can any body tell me How to store string array in a array

    Can any body tell me How to store string array in a array

    YesNot quite sure what question you're answering but here's how to copy an array.// given a String[] strArr
    // pre Java 6
    String[] newStrArr = new String[strArr.length];
    System.arrayCopy(strArr, 0, newStrArr, 0, strArr.length);
    // post Java 6
    String[] newStrArr = Arrays.copyOf(strArr, strArr.length);Edit:
    Or in fact use clone() as mark pointed out.

  • How to store logical operator in an array in java

    how to store logical operator in an array in java.
    Array should not be String type if i pass an element of that array it should be considered as logical operator

    my exact requirment is like this, i need some logic
    to convert string like this "2 Equals 3 AND 4 greater
    than 7" to condition like this
    2 == 3 && 4 >7 which i can pass to if
    condition.So you want to create an expression parser?
    No need for something as ugly as what you think you need, a simple nested conditional will do it for just the few logical operations.

  • How to store multiline string literal in to java bean shell variable

    Hello Experts
    How to store multiline string literals in java bean shell like we use triple quote for jython variable
    Using Jython
    str=""" helllo

    above syntax is working but not for java bean shell like below
    String str=""" hello
    welcome to my world""";
    So how to do this in java bean shell. I came to this scenario while storing logs to a variable. I believe there is no solution for storing multiline strings to java bean shell variable.
    <@
    String str="<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("MESSAGE")%>";

    Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

    Declare the array outside of the loop. Fill the array as you iterate. And stop putting your error messages inside of comments in the code.

  • How to break up a String into multiple array Strings?

    How do I break up a string into a bunch of String arrays after the line ends.
    For example,
    JTextArea area = new JTextArea();
    this is a string that i have entered in the area declared above
    now here is another sting that is in the same string/text area
    this is all being placed in one text field
    Sting input = area.getText();
    now how do I break that up into an array of strings after each line ends?

    Ok I tested it out and it works.
    So for future refrence to those that come by the same problem I had:
    To split up a string when using a textfield or textarea so that you can store seperate sections of the string based on sperate lines, using the following code:
    String text = area.getText() ;
    String[] lines = text.split("\n") ;
    This will store the following
    this is all one
    entered string
    into two arrays

  • How to search for particular string in array?

    I am struggling to figure out how to search array contents for a string and then delete the entry from the array if it is found.
    The code for a program that allows the user to enter up to 20 inventory items (tools) is posted below; I apologize in advance for it as I am also not having much success grasping the concept of OOP and I am certain it is does not conform although it all compiles.

    Ok, so you have an array of Strings. And if the string you are searching for is in the array, you need to remove it from the array.
    Is that right?
    Can you use an ArrayList<String> instead of a String[ ]?
    To find it, you would just do:
    for (String item : myArray){
       if (item.equals(searchString){
          // remove the element. Not trivial for arrays, very easy for ArrayList
    }Heck, with an arraylist you might be able to do the following:
    arrayList.remove(arrayList.indexOf(searchString));[edit]
    the above assumes you are using 1.5
    uses generics and for each loop
    [edit2]
    and kinda won't work it you have to use an array since you will need the array index to be able to remove it. See the previous post for that, then set the value in that array index to null.

    How to send array of bytes to a servlet and store it in a file.
    I am new to Servlets. if possible for any one, please provide the code.

    Through HTTP this is only possible with a POST request of which the encoding type is set to multipart/form-data. You can use Apache Commons FileUpload to parse such a multipart form data request into useable elements. From the other side (the client) you can use a HTML <input type="file"> element or a Java class with Apache Commons PostMethod API.
    You may find this article useful: http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/11/multipartfilter.html

    What if you click Never remember for this site and later change your mind? There should be a way to remember the username and password later if you'd like.     } LStrHandleArray;
    typedef LStrHandleArray **LStrHandleArrayHandle;
    void someMethod(LStrHandleArrayHandle arrayOut) {
    // attempting to write the string "asdf" in the first element in the array. (1D array)
    int newSize = 1;
    MgErr e = NumericArrayResize(uL, 1L, (UHandle*)&arr
    ayOut, newSize);
    (*arrayOut)->dimSize = newSize;
    LStrHandle hdl = *(*arrayOut)->elt;
    long str_size = strlen("asdf");
    MgErr err = NumericArrayResize(uB, 1L,(UHandle *)&hdl, str_size);
    LStrLen(*hdl) = str_size;
    MoveBlock("asdf", LStrBuf(*hdl), str_size);
    The code above doesn't result in crashing labview at any time. The string "asdf" is not copied though. And, after being able to copy one string I would like to extend this to many elements in a 1D array of strings.
    Thanks!
    Naveen

    LabVIEW stores string arrays as an array of handles to those strings. To resize an array of strings you need to declare a new string in LabVIEW's data space, resize the handle array, and add a handle to your new string. Here is an example program which does this.
