How to store the tld file somewhere else...

Is it possible to not be forced to always copy the tld file for a tag library into the WEB-INF directory but to pick up the file from a jar/linked resource/project instead.
The JSTL seems to be able to do it. Though it may be being referenced by some web.xml file that I can't find. The JSTL stores it's template file in the META-INF directory of its jar and then id's the tag file via the uri tag in the template.
Would doing something similar work for ones own tags?
I must apologise if this topic has already been dealt with but I did search the forum and on google before posting.

Yes. Please take a look at post #11 in this thread http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=664068, specifically #3 that deals with packaging tag library classes.
Please note there needn't any references in any web.xml, all you have to is jar your tag classes, have the tlds in META-INF directory. The container picks up the tld definition either from web.xml or from the META-INF of a jar found in WEB-INF/lib (Please see the jsp 2.0 spec section 7.3. The spec itself can be downloaded from http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=152)
All thats then required to access the tags is the have the jar in the classpath and a taglib directive in jsps.
You can take a look at this IBM article http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/j-jsp09023.html?ca=dnt-435 (though it says you require a web.xml entry)

  • Enterprise User Security, How do I store the DB password somewhere else?

    Hi Guys,
    I'm running Oracle 11gR2 and OID 11gR1.
    Right now I have enterprise user security working, however I would like to decouple Apps / Directory password from the DB password in OID.
    I understand that I can stick the password in orclpasswordverifier.
    I have tried to add a new Password Verifier in OID, set up the appropriate appID in the password verifier, added the orclpasswordverifier.<appid> = password into my user but the set up refuses to go to orclpasswordverifier.<appid> it still uses the value of userpassword and orclpassword. I have also read the manual like 5 times.
    I've even tried to move the Password Verifier around, to root DBSecurity context, to my domain's context, swapped around the appid value, but no matter what it doesn't seem to work.
    Any advise please?

    I could able to find out the solution for the first item by looking at the forums and some documentation.
    We can specify the some part of the URL in the cgicmd.dat file as a key value pairs, which is located in <Oracle-Home>/reports/conf
    testreports: userid=scott/tiger@ORCL destype=CACHE server=ust %*
    Here the key is -- testreports
    Now new URL to access the report like
    http://localhost:7778/reports/rwservlet?cmdkey=testreports&report=sample_report.rdf&desformat=pdf&p_from_date=02-MAY-2006&p_to_date=03-SEP-2006
    You can see that Key is passed as cmdkey=testreports
    Please do remember that you have to append %* at the end of the key, this will allow part of the Key specified in the config file and part will be supplied in the URL

  • How to store the picuture files in to the Berkeley DB?

    Actually, in a recent project, I need to store the meta pictures into the database, I wonder could I use Berkeley DB to fulfill this function? If possible, is there any samples for illustration?

    Hi,
    As you know, BDB stores records as Key/Data pairs, you could use keys as numbers or any alphanumeric values and in the data part you could store the path or location of the picture files. As for the sample code to do this, you could find in under GettingStarted under examples directory if you have downloaded and installed Berkeley DB.
    I hope this is what you want to do.

  • How to store the contents of a file

    Hi,
    I'm using forms6i and database 10g.
    Through forms if a user selects a filename , and clicks a button or something,
    the contents of the file should be saved in the database.
    The file can be of any type, like .doc,.pdf,.xml,.html etc...
    and the contents filed will be of type varchar
    Please help me do this..
    Thanks

    Do you really want to save the "Content" of a file or the file itself? If you try to save the contents of a .doc or .pdf in a column with a VARCHAR2 datatype, you are going to corrupt the contents of the file since these file types have binary data in them as well as text. I think you would have greater success storing the actual file in a BLOB column.
    Here are a few Oracle Support documents that discuss how to store and retrieve files stored as BLOBs in the database.
    Doc ID: 168277.1 - How to Upload Binary Documents Back to Database BLOB Column from Forms
    Doc ID: 330146.1 - How to write BLOBs Stored Inside the Database Out to Files.
    Hope this helps,

  • "Premiere Pro stores the preview files in a folder you can specify" But how?

    Specifying a Preview folder
    On page 265 of the PDF it states:
    Premiere Pro stores the preview files in a folder you can specify.
    QUES 1
    But how do you specify the folder? I just rendered a test clip and was not offered the option of specifying a folder. And there is no other mention of preview folders in the PDF.
    Preview Files for Encoding
    On the same page is:
    Note: Adobe Media Encoder does not automatically use Premiere Pro preview files for encoding. To make use of the Premiere Pro preview files, you must select the Use Previews option in Adobe Media Encoder for each encoding process.
    It is not clear from the PDF what is the quality of these preview files.
    QUES 2
    If I select the Use Previews option when exporting, aren't I degrading the quality of the export by encoding from an already encoded preview?
    QUES 3
    For the absolute best quality, should Use Previews be turned off?

    Preview File location is determined in the overall Project Settings.
    Set this location before you render any Preview Files.
    Project > Project Settings > Scratch Disks...
    Some documentation regarding the Scratch Disk location is buried here:
    Specify scratch disks to improve system performance
    QUES 2
    If I select the Use Previews option when exporting, aren't I degrading the quality of the export by encoding from an already encoded preview?
    In most (if not all) cases... yes.
    Previews are intended for real-time playback in the Timeline only.
    You should not use previews for export.*
    QUES 3
    For the absolute best quality, should Use Previews be turned off?
    Yes!
    *There are a few semi-obscure exceptions to this general rule.

    Hi sir,
    Here i want to know how to store the data's of a .txt file
    in to a JTable in java swing.
    Where here the .txt file like for eg,spooler.txt is in the server and from there it will come to my client machine what i have to do is to take that .txt file and store the datas of the .txt file
    in a JTable.This is what i want.So pls. do help and provide the code as well.I will be thankful.Since i am involved in a project which involves this it is Urgent.
    Thanx,
    m.ananthu

    You can't just display data from a text file in a JTable. You have you understand the structure of the data so that you can parse the data and create a table model that can access the data in a row/column format. Here is an example of a simple program that does this:

  • How to store a text file in a hash table in C#?

    I am fairly new to c#. I am creating a console application project for practice. I am supposed to create a program that reads a text file (it's a poem), store it in a hash table, have two different sorts, and unhash the table. I managed to get the poem read
    by using streamwriter, but now I am not sure how to store it in a hash table.
    I'm not sure if I am doing this hash table correct, but I made my hash table like this to store the text file:
          Hashtable hashtable = new Hashtable();
                hashtable[1] = (@"C:\\Documents\\Datastructures\\Input\\Poem");

    Hi,
    Hashtable in C# represents a collection of key/value pairs which maps keys to value. Any non-null object can be used as a key but a value can. We can retrieve  items from hashTable to provide the key . Both keys and values are Objects.
    Here is a sample about Hashtable,
    Hashtable weeks = new Hashtable();
    weeks.Add("1", "SunDay");
    weeks.Add("2", "MonDay");
    weeks.Add("3", "TueDay");
    weeks.Add("4", "WedDay");
    weeks.Add("5", "ThuDay");
    weeks.Add("6", "FriDay");
    weeks.Add("7", "SatDay");
    //Display a single Item
    MessageBox.Show(weeks["5"].ToString());
    //Search an Item
    if (weeks.ContainsValue("TueDay"))
    MessageBox.Show("Find");
    else
    MessageBox.Show("Not find");
    //remove an Item
    weeks.Remove("3");
    //Display all key value pairs
    foreach (DictionaryEntry day in weeks)
    MessageBox.Show(day.Key + " - " + day.Value);
    >>I managed to get the poem read by using streamwriter, but now I am not sure how to store it in a hash table
    Hashtable hashtable = new Hashtable();
    hashtable[1] = (@"C:\\Documents\\Datastructures\\Input\\Poem");
    But follow your scenario above, you just store a string path to hashtable not a file.
    About saving data to a file, you can use the following code.
    // Write the string to a file.
    System.IO.StreamWriter file = new System.IO.StreamWriter("c:\\test.txt");
    file.WriteLine(lines);
    file.Close();
    Best wishes!

  • How to store preferences in file system on Windows?

    I have 2 questions related to preferences using.
    1. How to store preferences in file system (not in registry) on Windows? I see file system implementation of Preferences (java.util.prefs.FileSystemPreferences). But this implementation is linux-specific (use native methods). Does universal implementation exist?
    2. How to store custom files in preferences? I need to store some user-specific files (XML files, for example) somewhere. These files are naturally user preferences. So my idea is to store it using Preferences. But it seems like there is no such posibility in standard preferences. I believe many peoples have the same problem. Does anyone have solution?
    Please help me!
    Thank you in advance.

    Preferences is supposed to keep all this data
    handling away from you, so you shouldn't bother. If
    you'd like to write a file, just write a file. You
    could create a "Settings" object and serialize it.I understand your reasonings. But unfortunately I have requirements to use file system preferences both on Linux and Windows. My bosses think there are many problems because of registry. Don't ask what problems, they didn't say. I cannot change their requirements. I must to implement it.
    Maybe somebody already solved this proplem. I will very grateful for help.
    Once again: simply write and read a custom file. Why
    do you use Preferences at all costs when they don't
    do what you want to?I have requirements to implement saving of files in the same manner as saving of preferences. It may be different code from Preferences. But it will be the best to have the same code if it possible.
    Any way I believe the need to save user-specific files as preferences is quite widespread.

  • How to store the images in Oracle?

    Hi,
    I am a new developer, trying to find out how to store the images in Oracle. Is there anyway that I can store the images in Oracle and insert them into my html file?
    Thanks!
    Sarah

    There is a simple image example available from OTN.
    From the OTN main page, go to Products --> interMedia --> Sample Code. The name of the example is "Load rich media content with a browser."
    This example loads and retrieves an image from an Oracle8i database through a web page using the Oracle interMedia Web Agent.
    Hope this helps.
