How to sync separate audio .wav after editing in timeline

Newby editor here.  I shot a 10 min video using both the camera mic and a separate digital recorder. I  created a Premier project and edited the footage (8 separate .mov files) before I realized that I hadn't synced the footage to the higher quality Zoom audio file (1 wav. file as I left it turned on).  Now that the project is edited is there any way to sync the footage to the individual clips?  I've tried using the "Merge" capabilities in Premier Pro 8.1 but that only syncs to the entire video file, not the individual section that I've edited into the film.
Do I have to go back and since the files and then re-edit each clip?
Any suggestions gladly accepted.

The simplest way I can think of to solve this is to export out a new clip using the video from the original and the audio from the Zoom.  Then do a Replace on the original in the bin with the newly exported clip.  All the edits remain intact, but using the new clip with the Zoom audio.

I do not see a way to separate audio channels to edit them separately in Premiere Elements (any version).
Premiere Elements does have audio effects including Balance, Fill Right/Fill Left, and Swap channels, but that is not what you are seeking.
I would refer you to an audio editor such as the free Audacity for what you want to do.

I am not sure if this is close to what you seek

But, the opportunity seems to be in Premiere Pro, not Premiere Elements
Please review and consider and then let me your thinking on the matter relating to your Premiere Elements 12 (what operating system).
    Thanks.

in iphoto, how do i save a photo after editing, in the same or higher file size, it's saves in a lower size

It's rather more complicated that this.
iPhoto is a lossless editor. You don't lose any quality on your shot in iPhoto.
The file size you see reported is the size of your iPhoto Preview: this is what gets used if you access the data via a media browser. It's a "good-enough-for-most-uses" version of the shot. Email it, upload to websites, use it in Presentation, Word processing file etc
If you want to set the quality yourself then Export the photo using the File -> Export command.
You can choose to export to Jpeg, Tiff or png. Tiff is lossless but the file sizes are up to 10 times larger. Jpeg allows you to choose different qualities: High, Medium or low. The difference is the amount of compression involved. High quality means very little compression. It's not unusual for photos exported at this setting to have a larger file size than the original.
Which setting you choose depends on the use you intend. Further editing, printing then high is important. Sending to Facebook? Well low will do just fine there as they're going to trash the file anyway.
But the key point: the file size only becomes an issue when you export.

if the files are in one of GB's supported formats:

(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
simply drag and drop the files into the GB timeline

I guess you mean "audio and video clips".
Then select the clip including both audio and video (while in the timeline) and press cmd-L: this unlinks the stereo pair from its video. If you want to work on each audio channel separately press alt-L while the stereo pair is selected.

  • Work flow for syncing separate Audio files with Video files in FCP

It may be too late for me to use this workflow that I want with my current project, but I need to figure out what it is anyway for future reference.
Right now I'm editing a movie which is near completion. When we recorded the movie, the camera's deck recorded reference audio from the sound guy at 48k @ 16bit. This audio also went through an additional set of preamps which added a small amount of noise. So we don't want to use the reference audio because of it's low resolution and less clean audio. The sound guy recorded straight to his deck at 48k @ 24bit, besides the better resolution, his audio is noticeably better.
The camera deck and 'clapper' (I think that's what you call it) were not connected or synced. So the video files and the soundsguy's audio files are slightly different lengths, but at least have a 'clap sound' to manually sync to. And I don't mean that the audio and video files won't play in sync with each other, I mean that the soundguy always started recording before the camera, so his audio files have slightly different start and stop times.
Could I have synced the audio files with the video files before I started editing this project? If so, could it have been in the way that the soundguy's audio would be connected to my video files while editing? What would that procedure have been?
My current workflow right now is I have my finished sequence, I change the bit rate to 24 in Sequence Settings, and start manually dragging the soundguy's files to the sequence for every little edited clip. This is going to take forever, there are 99 scenes in this movie. Anyway, at the end of the day these sequences are exported as .omf files and imported into Pro Tools for audio post production.
I was not thinking to figure this out before I started editing the movie, this is unfortunate, a newb move in a decent production.
Anyway, I don't know if there is a standard for this situation or if I just opened up a can of worms for many possible workflows. Please comment if you have experience in this area or please refer me to any reading material.
    Thanks for your time!
    -Monty

The normal workflow (besides manually syncing up before editing!)
is to have ' some ' way of auto syncing the clips.
So you must have common timecode.
With external audio, you can slave the cam's TC to the TC output of the BWF recorder.
Then you can use BWF / QT merge (one of my apps) to sync them, or use Sync 'n Link.
    (another third party application)
If it is not possible cause you're shooting with a cam without a TC input, you can record the TC output on one of the audio tracks of your cam, and use FCPauxTC reader to decode the beeps and translate that to QT TC, and again use the former tricks to sync them.
It is difficult when you have never done it, but very easy once you get the hang of it, and it saves a huge amount of time to do it right from the start.
Have a look at the FCP aux TC reader here:

  • Syncing DAT audio to a edited timeline

Our project is shot in 24P advanced.
Because of a deadline we had to use audio from the camera.
Now we are ready to sync audio with the DAT tapes.
I am very ignorant to this process.
Will I have to go from clip to clip in the edited timeline syncing up audio or is there a more efficient way to attack this process.
Any help or thoughts will be greatly received...

    Hi Bob-
Unless you sync jammed timecode at the shoot, you will have to sync up the pld-fashioned way - slates. I am assuming here that you slated every shot...

  • I do not know how to sync an audio book to my 6th gen nano. Please help?

My 6th generation Ipod nano is not letting me sync my audiobook that i bought. I also do not know how to sync the audibook and the music that i have. How do i sync them?

    hi phillip,
I think I phrased my question incorrectly.  I did know how to sync the ipod...or at least i was able to figure that portion out.  What is happening is that Itunes says that my book was recently added however, I don't see it on my device.  I've checked under artists and all the other categories because others have told me that often audiobooks don't actually get into the audiobook genre but can be found on the device in other categories.  No dice for me!  Now I'm reading in the forum that the extension may be prohibiting me from seeing it.  Someone has  script for it but only for MACS...need one for PC to change the extension.  I think ITunes *****.  I moved from Zune for my husband because he listens to audiobooks and Zune wasn't keeping up but it sure was a lot easier and user friendly!!  Know anything about changing extensions on Windows 7 64 bit?  Or on XP which my husband is still running?

  • How do I separate two movies on the same timeline?

I'm using Premiere Elements 11 but have not used it for a while so I've forgotten much of what I've learned. So here is my question: I have two movies on the same timeline. How do I separate them. In other words, how can I move one over on the timeline so it will not confuse my editing of the other one? But better yet - how can I just take one movie off the time line completely and edit it later as a separate movie. I really have four short movies - one minute long. I'd like to edit them separately, with a new file name. I don't know how to do this anymore.

I have been doing some homework on the questions that you raised in this thread.
    Observations....
    1.
After you  import a video into Project Assets, you can right click it, select Rename. That file when dragged to the Timeline will have the new name.
    But...
If you import a video into Project Assets, drag it to the Timeline, right click the Timeline clip, select Rename from the pop up, then the Timeline file will be renamed but not its thumbnail in Project Assets. You would have rename that Project Asset thumbnail to match if you wanted to. But, these renamed files still trace back to the original with its original file name at its hard drive save location.
    2.
About getting off your Timeline...one way would be to export the clip selectively if it were in group of clips on the Timeline. Two requirements for that
    a. In Edit area, set the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar to span just the segment to be exported
    and
    b. In the export area, have a check mark next to "Share Work Area Bar Only" option.
    3.
If you brought a clip into Project Assets, double clicked it to open its Preview Window, you could trim the clip with the Set In and Set Out points and create "subclips" with new names in Project Assets. These "subclips" would be part of that project's media that could be dragged to the Timeline when needed.
Please review and determine if any of the above is going in the right direction for what you want to do.
    Thank you.

  • How to turn off audio when scrubbing in the timeline

    Hi

  • Sync separate audio & video files at different TC rates

I have Quicktime files of footage shot in DVCPRO HD at 720/60p (60 frames). I have audio recorded as wave files (30 frames). Unfortunatly, most the timecodes don't match. So, I have to visibly match up the mark by revealing the waveforms. But, sometimes they are off due to the diff. frame rates they were recorded at, so they're half a frame off.
How can I get them to match perfectly in the shortest amount of time? (I have hundreds of clips to match up, time is money)
    ~reicko

Yeah, it is pretty close. And I'm also the audio mixer.... any tips?
Figured you might be one...being able to spot half a frame off sync. Sorry, I am not an audio mixer...so I don't. This is something that would be handled in the audio mixing software, like protools or Logic. BUT, for the way to do it in FCP, go here:
    http://proappstuff.com/proapptipsvideotutorials/879F6B61-CFF9-4FD1-8D43-FDF89605 611A/BE5CA6A0-2D41-4F89-955C-16A05AC2A383.html
Once it's finished though, I need to do a pulldown to SD. Do I need a Kona, I see you have one, or can FCP hanlde this? Output too....what format of SD? DV? Beta? Digibeta? DV50? What? If to a format that can be output to via firewire (DV, DV50) then no, you can downconvert in FCP by dropping the finished cut into a DV or DV50 sequence and rendering, then outputting. But for Beta or Digibeta, you need an HD capture card. Decklink cards are another option...but I love my Kona.
Actually, this is my first HD edit and have a few more questions and would love to pick your brain if possible.
This site is for solving problems with FCP. For workflow advice you need to contact me offsite...and i charge for my consulting fees.

  • Learning how to sync music audio to lip movements

I just acquired Final Cut Studio 2 a week ago and I'm looking to eventually get into shooting music videos once I get the basics down. Anyway, I was wondering if there was an online tutorial available or a book that I could purchase that deals with syncing audio to video lip movement. In particular, I'd like to shoot those old-school style Yo! MTV Raps videos where the artist lip syncs to their song while "performing" various scenes. Learning how to edit in FCP6 so that my pre-recorded audio syncs to the lip movement is what I'd like to learn.
Would anyone have any ideas on where I could go to learn this stuff?

The tool you want to learn is the SLIP tool.
You drop the clip in and get it 'close' then click on the SLIP tool and type numbers in. The video will 'slip' within the existing IN/OUT points.
    So...
If you see the video lagging the audio -- type 5 and it will slip 5 frames forward. If you see the audio lagging the video type -5 and it will slip back 5 frames.
    Good luck,

You can't restore your iPhone with iTunes?
What happens when you select Restore - any error message provided?
Have you reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes - the same iTunes account used to purchase or acquire content from the iTunes store including apps?
If the apps will not transfer from your iPhone to your iTunes library and you don't maintain a backup of your iTunes library stored on an external drive or some other media used for backup purposes, you can re-download all apps from the app store and you will not be charged for any apps you have already purchased as long as you do this with the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the apps.
