How to tackle BACKSPACE key behaviour?

i noticed some nasty thing about pressing BACKSPACE key in a form.
it causes navigation to previous page .
How can i tackle it?

OS X Mail - Backspace key behaviour [Gmail]

Hello everyone!
I hust updated to OSX Mavericks and I noticed that the backspace key behaviour is changed in Mail.app using a GMail account (IMAP).
With Mountain Lion, when I highlighted a message and tapped backspace the software use to move that message in the GMail archive.
Now, tapping backspace is causing to move my messages into the "GMail trash".
I would like to set it the way it was on Mountain Lion since it was a great way to sort and archive my mail messages.

Just had this exact problem, hope I haven't been deleting for months. Couldn't find much help on Google so thought I'd post in the most relevant thread how I ended up getting it working:
1. Verify your Gmail settings: Go to Settings, then the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab. Make sure "When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:" is set to "Archive the message (default)."
2. In Apple Mail, go to Preferences, then the Accounts tab. Select the Gmail account and go to the Mailbox Behaviours tab. Uncheck both options under trash. Close the preferences window to make the setting take effect and click the Save button in the "Save Changes..." prompt. The trash bin should disappear from Apple Mail for that account.
Now when you delete a message it will still be under the Archive in Apple Mail, and in All Mail in Gmail, without going to the Trash on Gmail.

Why does the backspace key now make the browser go back to the last page viewed, and how can I change that setting?

When typing in a browser page to reply to a blog, when I pressed the backspace key to correct a typo, suddenly the browser went back to the previous web page. How can this setting be changed or turned off?

This should never happen when the cursor is in an editing control, but it has always done that if the focus was on the page itself.
Here's how to change it:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''backs''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.backspace_action''' preference and enter the desired value:
* 0 => back (default)
* 1 => page up
* 2 => ignore (actually, anything other than 0 or 1 does nothing)
OK to save the change. You're done.

Tab & Backspace Keys are changing my screen brightness how do I change this?

I have an iMac that I have had for a couple of years. Suddenly the backspace key and tab key are adjusting the screen brightness and I can't seem to change this, any ideas why this has happened and how I just get screen brightness adjusted by using F1 & F2 keys? I have tried kedyboard shortcuts from system preferences but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Any help really appreciated

As far as I know the language of the two stores on the iPad (iTunes and the App Store) can't be changed - they should be in the language of the country where your account is based (if they aren't correct then try logging out of your account by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in).

How do I delete forwards, ie without using the backspace key ?

When want to change a letter or some text I always have to position the cursor after the entire word and use the backspace key to delete the whole word, even if I just want to delete, for example, the first letter. Is there a key that deletes forwards ?

I'd like to sort of hiighjack this thread. I moved from an iPad Mini to an iPad Air bcause I wanted to add a keyboard case that would replace some of the frustration I've experienced trying to type on the Mini's display. So with the AIR I purchased a Belkin Ultimate keyboard and I'm very peased with it. My "principal" computer is a desktop PC and I was quite startled to find there are no cursors, other than by finger, in the iPad world; however, I'm getting used to that. Re the posting here, that seems to be good advice re the delete function. My question: looking prettyy closely at my Belkn keyboard, where is the "delete" key?

Disable Backspace Key

I'm trying to figure out how to disable the backspace key on
an input form. Or, I need to figure out why I can't type into an
input field after I've backspaced(erased) all the
characters?

Hmmm... I've not seen where you can't type after deleting all
the
characters. Do you maybe have the input set to multiline and
have the top
line blocked or something? I don't know that there's an easy
way to disable
Backspace for an input field.

Backspace Key stopped working normally on Macbook Pro

Hello,
I was able to use my backspace/return key totally fine by just pressing it and it would go back a space. One day i start my laptop up and i am not able to go back anymore, absolutely nothing happens when i press my backspace key, i now have to press fn+backspace in order to use the normal backspace option of deleting one letter or several letters that i have just typed. It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue as the backpace is now fn+backspace, how do i get it to go back to normal as it is tres annoying to press two keys for this? Any help is much appreciated.

Create another user account on the computer and see if it behaves the same way. If it does then it's probably a hardware issue, if it doesn't then it's software and most likely a setting that has changed.

Backspace key

On my brand new imac keyboard, i have a delete key, and, while i fully understand how it works, it is not a backspace key. Ironically, my horribly new ios7 ipad has a backspace but no delete key. And, while i am still new to mac, i am sooooo confused!
Is there a backspace functin on the imac keyboard.

Since making changes to my Custom Set of Keyboard Shortcut commands I seem to have lost the backspace key's function of deleting frames, though the key still deletes in type mode and works like it should in, say, Illustrator. I can't recall how I might have used the key itself as a shortcut, but use it I must have, because it's okay when I change back to Default mode. In my Custom Set I've double-checked Keyboard Shortcuts and gone through the Product Areas I remember changing such as View Menu, Tools and View and Navigation but can't track it down.
All suggestions most welcome.

Sometimes when a key doesn't work as you expect and you think you may have used it as a shortcut, a very simple way to check is to select any command at random and input that key as a new shortcut. InDesign will tell you where you've used it, though you may have to try another Context.
(Just don't hit Assign, eh.)

Backspace key is a bit lifted

I had my HP G61-420CA laptop for a week now, I noticed that my backspace key is not flat with other keys on the keyboard. I'm wondering if it'll hurt the LCD and is there a solution to it.

Backspace key problem

the backspace key had stopped working in my HP pavillion laptop since while. I was fine with it since I was using the delete key. However, I am encountering a new problem now. My laptop does auto backspace. Example: when I am typing on word it tends to autobackspace everything and i tend to loose all the datas. Even when i am using internet , it auto backs to a previous page. This happens a lot frequently and i am tired of it. Does someone know how to fix this?

Im not quite sure what the problem is your describing.
But if its only happening when the MMC then that would suggest that there is something wrong on the MMC.
You should try formatting the MMC to see if that solves your problem.
Formatting your MMC will erase all data on it though.

AR9.1 Rich Media Annotation TextInput and Backspace Key

I've put together a test PDF see:

that shows that the backspace key does not work as expected
for an a TextInput field in a rich-media annotation when
viewed with Linux AR9.1; at least not with my SuSE 10.3 setup.
There are a couple of other issues not alluded to in the test PDF:
(i) the /Widget used to toggle the attachments pane does not work
in fullscreen mode; (ii) the /Widget used to zoom out from
the rich-media annotation has /Normal, /Rollover and /Down
appearances, but only the /Normal appearance is drawn.

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to hear that the backspace
issue is being worked on and I'm guessing that you're
also aware of a similar problem with the enter key?
I agree that my non-Acrobat PDF might be deficient in some
way and it's also possible that my user preferences are
not quite right. But consider the following.
I re-jigged the test PDF such that the /Widget whose /R
and /D appearances were not activated now lies half on
the rich-media SWF and half on the background page.
Recall this is the /Widget that reads "Click to zoom out!",
which appears when the SWF is activated.
Interestingly, when I position the mouse over the /Widget
half that lies off the SWF (the right-hand half) then the
right-hand half does have its /R and /D appearances rendered.
But the left-hand half, the part that lies over the SWF,
is stuck with the /N appearance.
Following this observation, I re-jigged the /Widget to
print out the events its receives on the JS console.
And it seems that the left-hand half of the /Widget
is not getting /E or /X events, even though the
mouse correctly changes shape, but it does receive
/D, /Fo, /U and /Bl events. The right-hand half
receives all events as normal.
You can also try the following. Move the mouse over
the right-hand half of the /Widget, such that an
/E event is generated. Then move the mouse along
the /Widget towards the left-hand half: the second
the mouse reaches the left-hand half the /Widget
receives an /X event.
Therefore it looks like there is some inconsistency
in the event model when a /Widget lies on top of
a rich media annotation, or at least the behaviour
I'm observing is not hinted at in the document adobe_supplement_iso32000.pdf which covers rich-media
annotations.
Anyhow, I'll send you the original PDF as you requested
along with the modified one I describe above.
