How to test custom idoc

Hi
In case of standard Idoc's ( e.g MATMAS) we have transactions like BD10 to post the material. And we can check status of idoc at we05/02. so this way we can check our idoc-xi-file scenarios. Suppose if I got to work with custom idoc's ......and where we didn't have default transactions to post of the idocs.....how we are going to test the scenario initially ??
thanks
kumar

Hi Palnati,
Test the population of the custom IDOC
via wedi IDoc - Display IDoc or Transaction WE02.
• Enter your message type and execute.
• Status should be green, double click on one of the Idocs you have created to view its contents.
• If a problem has occurred click on Status which will give you a description of the error.
• Drop down Data Records arrow and this should list the data in the IDoc in the correct hierarchical structure.
• Click on each individual segment and view the content to check that the correct data has been read.
• If you have UNIX access by using AL11 you can view the file that you have created.

  • [IDOC] Test customized IDOC

    Hey,
created a customized IDOC in system A and added an inbound
    process code.
Now I would like to test the IDOC in we19 from system B, but the customized
IDOC doesn't exist (of course) there.
How to test this IDOC? Do I have to transport this in system B?
Can I test IDOC also in system A himself? I just want to test if the configuration
    of process code works.
In system A I can use we19 with standard inbound, but which receiver port do
I have to use? I just have created a port to system B. For testing IDOC in just
one system, do I have to create also a port/logical system to system A?
    thanks

I think you want to test only the process code calling the IDoc inbound function module correctly or not?
If you have RFC connection between B to A. then go to WE19 create a dummy entry giving all the following details
    Receiver                            Sender
    Port                                Port
    Partner No.                         Partner No.
    Part. Type                          Part. Type
    Partner Role                        Partner Role
    Message Type
and check in system A that IDoc you got received. It will show as an error , but that errors should shows it getting created in the inbound function module call

  • How to import Custom idoc into  IR?

I have a custom idoc and i need to map it with the receiver format after importing into IR . Please let me know the sequence of steps to import custom idoc into  Integration repository?
I think I need to first import into IDX2 and then import into repository. Am I correct?

    Hi Prateek,
thanks for the information .The normal standard idocs we import by searching the idoc eg- for importing matmas we type mat and we search it, since it is a standard idoc it will be available in the list (after selecting the chek box "Import of idoc or rfc interfaces from sap system permitted").
But my question is how we import custom idoc as they wont be present in the list?

  • How to test outbound IDoc?

    Hi all,
How do you test an outbound ASN (Delivery document Idoc type DELVRY03). I think first you create an outbound delivery using VL03n and then create an idoc out of it (how?)
    Thanks,
    Charles.

You have to create delivery at VL01N Transaction, now setup output type
In second screen of Delivery -> Extras->Delivery output -> header ->give the proper output type ,Medium should be 6(EDI) or ALE (A).
click on further data -> send immediately.
when you save delivery ,it will create IDOC automatically, you can see IDOC in WE02 or WE05 Transaction.
    Debugging outbound :
keep the break point in outbound Function module
    Create Delivery
here when you maintain output type -> further data ->
Now click on Further data ->select peridoc scheduling-> back and save it.
    Run RSNAST00 Program
    Output application : V2
    Object key : Delivery number
    Output type : LD00
    Medium = 6(EDI) ,A (ALE)
when you execute the program and it will goto debugging.

    Hi
    Data Creation in Idoc
IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an
asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
IDoc is a intermediate document to exchange data between two SAP Systems.
*IDocs are structured ASCII files (or a virtual equivalent).
    *Electronic Interchange Document
*They are the file format used by SAP R/3 to exchange data with foreign systems.
*Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
    *IDocs exchange messages
*IDocs are used like classical interface files
IDOC types are templates for specific message types depending on what is the business document, you want to exchange.
WE30 - you can create a IDOC type.
An IDOC with data, will have to be triggered by the application that is trying to send out the data.
FOr testing you can use WE19.
    How to create idoc?
*WE30 - you can create a IDOC type

An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data...
1.IDOCs are stored in the database. In the SAP system, IDOCs are stored in database tables.
2.IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
3.IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
The two available process for IDOCs are
    Outbound Process
    Inbound Process
AND There are basically two types of IDOCs.
    Basic IDOCs
Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Extended IDOCs
Extending the functionality by adding more segments to existing Basic IDOCs.
To Create Idoc we need to follow these steps:
    Create Segment ( WE31)
    Create Idoc Type ( WE30)
    Create Message Type ( WE81)
Assign Idoc Type to Message Type ( WE82)

I am trying to execute directly where it gives a return parameter for some function modules saying No Entry \ No data available for this ID etc.,
I am in a confusion whether its correct or not

Ok, so that is what it does if you don't pass it any selection parameter data - I doubt very much if that is how it will be used in Production.  Any function module is just a bit of code that does what it has been programmed to do; to test it you just need to find out what it is supposed to do from whoever has asked for it to be built and then check that it does it.  If there is no test data set up, then you'll need to find out from your functional consultant how to set some up or get them to set it up for you.

  • How to Assign a function module for customized IDOC

    Hi,
I have created a customized IDOC. Can any body explain how to assign a FM for customized IDOC? Is same IDOC can be used for both Outbound and Inbound Process? In WE41 and WE42 we have to give the outbound and inbound function module name. can we give same function module? Is process code is same for both outbound and inbound process?
          Valuable suggetions are appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi ,
Here is the Procedure for the Inbound Idoc Funtion Module
    Function Module : SE37
    Message : WE81
    Assign message : WE82
    Assgin FM : we57
    Process Code : WE42.
    Assign Partner Profile - WE20,
    To test the Inbound IDOC.
In WE19, Give the IDOC number & execute ... then put the cursor on the idoc control record . then click on the Standard Inbound push button on the application tool bar.it will show show all the details like partner no,type , message type , process code & function module name ...
now put a break point in the function module .. & debug .
if u r using customised inbound function module , then click on inbound function module .. there u will get a pop screen with FM name & debugging option in both background & foreground mode...

    3.     You will get a template Idoc.
    4.     Read the file and input the data manually to the Idoc. Double click the segment name, the fields will be displayed and you can enter the data. Be carefully and enter the data in the correct segments and in correct order. The values which are not present should not be entered. Enter data relevant for one Idoc only.
This way you will populate one Idoc and then you can test.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • How to check IDOC Serialization for custom idoc

In one of my interfaces, we are receiving idocs ARTMAS, INFREC, COND_A and ZMD_ARTHIER in ECC system.Last one is customized one in which basically we have to assign one article to an article hierarchy. So this idoc will contain only article no, hierarchy id and node level in which article will be assigned.
Now here we have to implement idoc serialization so that if ARTMAS in any case fails then INFREC, COND_A and ZMD_ARTHIER idocs should not be posted. We will be using RBDSER04 program for inbound processing.
My concern is that whether we have to do any special coding for serialization check in custom function module for the last idoc ZMD_ARTHIER.
If yes, please please let me know how to do handle that in custom inbound function module.

    Hi,
you need to create a serialization group (in customizing) and assign all the IDocs (in specific order) to this group incl. your custom IDoc.
When data is transfered first a SERDAT01 IDoc will be sent, after this your IDocs have to follow in specific order. At last again a SERDAT01 follows and triggers the processing in the destination system.
