How to Upgrade Solaris Package ?

Hi,
I created a solais package (*.pkg), which I've installed with the following command:
"pkgadd -d mypkg.pkg"
1. What command should I use in order to upgrade it to a higher version?
2. What are the changes I have to do in the installation pkg for supporting this option?
3. Where can I find more info about this?
tx in advance,
devshlom

You would also use pkgadd. You can either remove the original package with pkgrm, and then run pkgadd on the new package, or you can upgrade by just running pkgadd directly on the new package. If the VERSION string has changed, then a new "instance" of the package is installed: mypkg.2.
You can find more information in these two documents:

  • How to add solaris packages to installled system...

    Hello,
I have a minimally installed Sun Solaris system. I need a lot more functionality on it, like developper tools.
I know how to install a packege. The problem is finding out which packages to install. The installation CD contains a whol ot of SUNW* packages with cryptic names, and when you try to install one of them I usually run in to dependency problems.
So is there a convenient way to do the following:
    - Given I need a particular tool (eg /usr/ccs/bin/as )
    - Find out what package that tool belongs too
    - Install that package and all its dependencies automatically?
Under Linux (an Os where I do have somewhat more experience) this is a trivial exercise. But how do I do this under Solaris?

I know I can just try to install a package using pkgadd and see where it breaks. But to do this I first have to know what package to install. That is the first problem. I need "foo", how do I find out what package contains "foo"?
Searching for sollutions I came across a concept called "metacluster", which is aparently sun's way of packaging lots of related stuff together. I found out that the metacluster installed on my system was "SUNWCuser" and that I probably want it to be "SUNWCprog". But I have no idea how to get there.

  • How to upgrade solaris with disk under ODS

    upgrade wsolaris

    Robert,
I am just worried about what might happen, if our internal SSD should fail. The system files, your user settings, mail boxes, everything in your user library and system library, the installed applications, plug-ins, Aperture presets, etc. From what you are describing, you are taking good care of your documents, but the system itself and the work you are putting into configuring it is not backed up. Should your system drive crash you would have a hard time to recover from that.
The easiest way to backup your system drive and the internal HD2 would be to use one of your 3TB drives with Time Machine. You need not necessarily Time Capsule to be able to do that. Time Machine can work with any external disk, that is formatted MacOS X extended.
Just plug in the backup drive you want to use, then open "System Preferences" and click the Time Machine icon.
Click the "Select Backup Disk" button.
Enable "Show Time Machine in Menu Bar".
Click the "Options" Button. If your backup drive is not large enough to include your Aperture library, deselect the other external drives in the "Options" panel. You may even deselect the second internal drive, if you are backing that up differently and only want to create a backup of the system. Then a small 500GB drive should suffice to get you started with system backups. But backing up both internal drives at once using TimeMachine would be much preferable.
Then set the switch to "on".
The first backup may take a very long time, but it will run in the background, so let it run.

  • How to upgrade Php Version in solaris 10 SPARC ?

How to upgrade php  Version 5.4.7 to latest version 5.5.3?
Do we need to uninstall current version(5.4.7) and install latest version(5.5.3)?
Or is there any way to upgrade directly.

I'm suggesting to remove the initial package and then install a new version that is in the same package format.
You can also compile it and modify the target installation directory during the compilation.

  • How to upgrade from solaris 8 to solaris 10

    Hi,
Currently our server is installed with OS 8. I want to upgrade it to OS 10 as some application software is no more support OS 8. Can you advise on how to upgrade to OS 10 without affecting current server settings and configrations.
    Thanks
    vlsi

    >
upgrade to OS 10 without affecting current server
settings and configrations.Generally speaking, Solaris installs will offer you the opportunity to do an "upgrade" install that will preserve your existing config.
Practically speaking, however, you need to have enough disk space to do the upgrade, and Solaris 10's full install is much larger than Solaris 8's.
The install can also offer to do a data backup for you if it finds it has to resize your disk partitions, so you should be prepared with a tape drive (or available extra disk or NFS filesystem) for temporary storage of the backup.
Even with all this, I would still recommend you make a backup of your system before starting.

  • How NOT to upgrade a package while pacman -Syu

This may sound confusing, but I am trying to keep my system up to date with the latest software, but I do not want to upgrade one package or else I am 110% sure I will break my system.
So when I run pacman -Syu, it tells me that I have 4 packages to upgrade, one being the package I do not want to update. So far the only way I found to upgrade my system but still keeping it unbroken is having to manually install all theremaing upgrades using
    pacman -S name_of_packages_that_need_to_be_upgraded.
which can be a long list (3 in this case), especially if I don't do it for awhile.
My question is, is there a way to stop pacman from trying to always upgrade the one package I do not want and upgrade all the rest just like its supposed to?
I have not found a way to do this, but I am not fluent enough with the package manager to know if there is a command for this task. If there isn't such a command, then how hard would it be to add this functionality? I know this kinda goes against the arch way, but so does manually upgrading each package individually. KISS
Any help would be appreciated and I can clearly understand if this can't be resolved.

Misfit138 wrote:Put the ignorepkg = in your pacman.conf. That way you don't have to type it ever again.
I will add, I put this under the general options part of pacman.conf for anyone who is confused that is reading this. Great tip this one here is. One more question though? would u put multiple packages on one line or would u add a ignorpkg = for every package u don't want upgraded?
    # GENERAL OPTIONS
    [options]
    LogFile     = /var/log/pacman.log
    HoldPkg     = pacman glibc
    #XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -O %o %u

  • How extract Solaris package without root privilege

    Hi!
Is there any way to extract files from Solaris package file (.pkg) without root privilege?
Like I can do it for rpm: rpm2cpio foo-2.0.i386.rpm | cpio -ivmud

    You can use 'pkgtrans':
    Syntax:
    pkgtrans <package> <destination directory>
    .7/M.

  • How to upgrade to quicktime 7 pro on mac osx10.6

I purchased the upgrade to QT 7 pro mac osx but i cant figure out how to upgrade from my current QT player on leopard 10.6.2 to the pro. can any help?

Those seem like OS error codes. Are they the same for all Apple programs?
The default QT player for Snow Leopard is QT X which cannot be upgraded to "Pro" status. Check to see if the QT 7 Player is installed (found in the "Utilities" folder if already installed). If not, then use the Snow Leopard installation disk to custom install just the QT 7 (v7.6.3) package which then can be QT Pro registered using the File menu "Registration" option when QT 7 is open.

Use EHPI tools or just spam/saint  or any other way ?

    HI,
Net wevaer 7.2 CE is totally different from Net weaver 7.01.
No relation i feel.kindly check the links.

    http://help.sap.com/content/documentation/netweaver/index.htm
                      OR
You do not need Netweaver 7.2 CE for using NWBC 3.0. You just need netweaver 7.02.
You simply need to apply enhancement package 2 on your existing 7.01 system to make it 7.02.
Please refer to installation guides on service marketplace, there you can see the EHP2 installation guides.
Also, see SAP Note 900000 - Netweaver Business Client - FAQ. This will give you all the details required.

  • Upgrading Solaris 9 to Solaris 10

Hi, I need to upgrade my workstation from solaris 9 to solaris 10 by CD. And also upgrade solaris 8 to solaris 9.
Do u have any idea how to do it? Can giv step by step?
    Thanks
    regards,
    raymond

You do not need to use liveupgrade to upgrade, unless you want to learn it--it's complicated. It's good for servers and if you wish to go back to pre-upgrade. You need plenty of spare disk space.
First backup your data on your system to another hard disk or DVD.
Then stick in the installation DVD and select "Upgrade" instead of "Initial Install" when asked.

    following error:
"CAR error message: SAPCAR: can not change date
    for /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CSR0120031469_0034275.ATT"
I down;loaded again the support package but still getting the same
    error.
I tried to uncar the same in the application server but i still got the
    error while doing SAPCAR -xvf.
I have got a solution to upgrade the version of SAPCAR. but i dont know how to do it?
how to upgrade the version OF SAPCAR.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya..
You don't need downtime to change permissions...
You can run "/sapmnt/IRQ/exe/saproot.sh" script as ROOT user to set the permissions on Kernel Directory.
    OR
    Do as follow:
    # chown -R irqadm:sapsys /sapmnt/IRQ/exe
    # chmod -R 755 irqadm:sapsys /sapmnt/IRQ/exe
    # chmod 4755 /sapmnt/IRQ/exe/saposcol
    # chown root:sapsys /sapmnt/IRQ/exe/saposcol
After that don't forget to set the permissions of BRTools (brbackup, brrestore, brarchive, brspace etc.) according to below note.

  • Upgrade DTSX packages from VS 2010 with SQL Server 2008 to VS 2013 and SQL Server 2014

    Hello everyone,
I’m very new to SSIS world. I’ve been assigned a task to upgrade the existing packages running in VS 2010 with SQL Server 2008 to VS 2013 and SQL Server 2014. And then submit the migration report to my client.
On very quick search at Google, I've found the following link. It seems like I just need to open the existing SSIS project in VS 2013 and follow the wizard.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc280547.aspx
Can anybody please advise, are there any other things need to be taken care while doing this up gradation process?
    Please share your experience.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello Arthur,
    Thank you for the response.
I just got an access of the packages. They are of VS 2008 and not 2010.
Do you know how to upgrade VS 2008 packaged to VS 2013?
When I tried to open the solution file in VS 2013, it says "incompatible".
Any help would be much appreciated.
