Hi,
In 7 th step of LSMW we need to specify the file ie flat file.
In this step you describe all files to be used in the following steps:
· Your legacy data on the PC and/or R/3 server
· The file for the read data
· The file for the converted data.
As your legacy data is on the PC: ie your excel file that is tab delimited or comma delimited.
here give ur file name, description , click data from one src structure, then delimiter is tabulator if so, in file structure click both check boxes if in ur flat file ur first row is column, file type is record end indicator, code page ASCII and conitnue that's it.

Hi folks, As given in the previous links; Is Hierarchy Loading possible in BI 7.0 without using RSA1OLD(3.X approach)? The blogs & articles in SDN only cover 3.X methodology for uploading Hierarchies from flat files or external source systems. Hierarchies are not supported in 7.0 Datasources. Could anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Please refer this [link |/thread/375310 [original link is broken];for reference. I had this wierd feeling that the approach that we follow is correct, but this came to my mind when instead of using 7.0 DS, we are forced to use 3.X methodology; That evokes to reason with! Thanks.

Hi,
The FM 'ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE' makes it possible to load a worksheet into an internal table in ABAP.
However, if you want to get the data from several worksheets, I think you are stuck with OLE access to your Excel Workbook...
You can find a solution for 2 worksheets in this post :

I think you can easily modify it to handle any number of worksheets.

How to upload data from flat to ztables with in the same client by idocs

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement in IDOCS, I need to create a custom IDOC .I am working on IDES 4.6c. The reqirement is , there are ztables with header and item data. say for example Authors and Books. I need to upload data from flat file which is available in presentation server of the same client, which will updated in ztables by using idocs. For this i need to do ale settings also. The client is 800. There is no other client available. With in the same client i need to do the above stuff.
For this requirement how to approach (step by step) to accomplish.

This is the procedure.
create segments using we31. <b>don't forget to relaese it</b>
create idoc using above segments using we30 <b>don't forget to relaese it</b>
create message type using we81
create function module to upload data using se37
maintain process code using we42
create partner profiles we20.
In the fm module itself write the code for downloading the data from presentation server by GUI_DOWNLOAD.
Then update the database tables directly by insrt through other internal table in the same client itself.

Hi Ashok,
We cannot directly pulled data from website. we need to activate webservices and rfcs. Better you could asked to your Basis guy that he knows or not. If not then do sdn you will get the appropriate answer. I can only say that its possible and we can download from website.

I want to upload the excel file in oracle db through oracle forms...I am new to oracle forms .
I have searched a lot but not getting exact solution
Is there anyone who will help me out with this .....

I'm trying to move data from excel into an Oracle forms field. This involves coping 2 columns of data cells in excel and pasting it into an Oracle forms field. I can get the date pasted into the Oracle forms field but there is a invisible character that separates the 2 columns of data coming from Excel. I do not know what this character is but it is causing the error 'Line 1 is invalid. Check forms'.
Any ideas how to get pass this?

Take a look at it in notepad or a text viewer... it's just a MIME/HTML file...
Example:
