How to use rank inside SQL results of a dashboard prompt

I am trying to find last updated date of fact table, last updated date of fact table - 7, last updated date of fact table -21 etc. to be populated in a dashboard prompt and for which I thought i could use Oracle rank() over last_updated_date using a sql synatx like this.
select Periods."Current Week Date" from(SELECT Periods."Current Week Date", RANK(Periods."Current Week Date" BY Periods."Current Week Date") ra FROM "Summit 08" where "Current Week Facts By Product"."Current Week Gross Sales" > 0 order by Periods."Current Week Date" desc) where ra = 1 or ra=7 or ra =21
Error that comes up says
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27001] End of input has been reached. Illegal syntax. (HY000)
SQL Issued: select Periods."Current Week Date" from(SELECT Periods."Current Week Date", RANK(Periods."Current Week Date" BY Periods."Current Week Date") ra FROM "Summit 08" where "Current Week Facts By Product"."Current Week Gross Sales" > 0 order by Periods."Current Week Date" desc)
This does not work.. any one with suggestions

try this.. if you want to show only the national, region and city strings..
*select case when 1=0 then any varchar hold column from your subject area else 'National' end from SubjectAreaName*
union all
*select case when 1=0 then any varchar hold column from your subject area else 'Region' end from SubjectAreaName*
union all
*select case when 1=0 then any varchar hold column from your subject area else 'City' end from SubjectAreaName*
here any varchar hold column from your subject area is any column from existing subject area.. which holds character values.. like.. Markets. Region
I think you know where it need to be written.. in Show SQL part of your prompt..

Most of the views are based on tables (or other views which are based on tables).
The view typically shows one org at a time based on the context that is set.
If you need records for all orgs, you need to use the underlying tables. Oracle typically names the tables with a _all suffix.
e.g. PO_HEADERS will show records for one org at a time. PO_HEADERS_ALL will show records for all orgs.

Hello! I need some help with OBIEE dashboard Prompts. Any help will be highly appreciated!
Question 1. How to selectively hide or disable columns on a dashboard prompt or the entire prompt? There seems to be no "hide" or "dsable" options on
prompts.
Question 2. How to synchronize 2 different prompts on the same dashboard?
The application is this: There are total of 2 tabs on a dashboard ("tab_1" and "tab_2"). Each tab uses different prompts ("pr_1" and "pr_2"), having just one first drop down column in common ("Product_id").
The desired functionality is this: user selects "Product_id" on the first tab's prompt, which filters its reports (on "Go") and also propagates to the second tab. When user clicks on the second tab, the reports there are already filtered (or begin filtering) by "product_id", selected on the first tab.
Question 3. How to prevent the reports from retrieving when switching to a different tab on a dshboard? Specifying dummy default values in the prompt does
not seem to preven reports from retrieving, which still takes time.

Regarding Question 2:
What you need to have is a Dashboard scope dashboard prompt for Product_ID (i.e., Don't use the column prompt from the prompt tab within the Request.)
1) Create the dashboard prompt, put it on tab1 and save the prompt to a presentation variable, say prmtProdID. Set the scope to "dashboard." (This is the default, by the way.) If you create a dashboard prompt and set the scope to "dashboard," then the prompt values selected will hold true across dashboard pages.
2) On tab2, go to your report and in Criteria mode, apply a filter to the Product_ID column making it equal to the PV. (Click the filter icon, Add>Variable>Presentation Variable and type prmtProdID. Save.)
When the user selects a Product_ID on tab1 of your dashboard and hits "Go," not only will it filter your report on tab1, when you go to tab2 the report here will be filtered with the same value selected in the prompt on tab2.
Regarding Question 3:
If you implement 2, you cannot implement 3. You can't have it both ways. Not for the same scenario. But if you want to know how to do it in general, read this:

I am using KXEN recommendation function. After trained the model, I expose the result in form of HANA SQL. However, I am really have no idea how to make this SQL runnable because there are some subqueries like:

Please pay attention to the red parts. While $Dataset, I assume it should be the data source which is used to train the model, but how to handle the "GRAPH" parts(the next 3 subqueries)? There are something missing after "FROM" clause, what should I fill in here? why the XKEN will generate sucn incomplete codes?

To apply a recommendation model, you first need to save your model in your database. (saving the model in the database for such models and for what you want to do is mandatory).
Once you saved it, you will see many tables starting with "Kx" : KxInfos, KxLinks, KxNodes...
These tables contains information on the nodes available in the data used, on the links between products.
Now, if you generate the SQL code for Hana, the name of your KxLinks table should now be used in the SQL code.
When prompted for $Dataset and $Key, you should specify in place of $Dataset the name of the table on which you want to apply your model. In place of $Key, you should enter the name of the key of this table (e.g. UserId).
In my case $Dataset =>KAR_UniqueCustomers and $Key=>UserID
My generated code looks like this :
FROM KAR_UniqueCustomers "SPACEIN"

Note that your application table must contain:
- A column with the same name as your users identifier in the training dataset. It contains the list of distinct users (stricly 1 row for each customer id)
- A column with the same name as your products name in the training dataset. It can contain the name of the same product for all customers.

I've deployed a mapping SRC_TO_TAR. And I've successfully run this mapping in owb.
But when I try to use the oem_exec_template.sql to invoke in sqlplus, the script always tells me 'Taks not found'.
I use the following command to invoke the oem_exec_template.sql:

A few bits that I noticed in the query ...
in (Upper('FAQ'),Upper('OPENFAQ'))1) Do you really a upper for a string which is already in upper case.

Can i use function inside sql in a form ?????

Here SERIAL_NUM is a function, this sql work fine in TOAD and SQLPLUS but inside the form iam getting error saying "function serial_num cannot be used in a sql" Why is it like that ?? Is there anyother way to execute this sql ?

yes of course you can use the functions in sql as well as in forms( within sql statements).
here i think you are not connected to the Specified user which is having the function Serial_num
or other thing may that ur syntax

IaaS SQL/VM - how to use an existing SQL VM

I have a Cloud Service with a Window Web VM and SQL VM. They both are on the same Vnet. Now I want to add a DB using the existing SQL VM. But this VM does not show up of the Server drop down menu in "Specify Database setting"
wizard. What am I missing here?
If I let the DB Wizard add a new server (leveraging PaaS offer for SQL DB), how can I make sure that this new server shows up on my Vnet (the same one where I have Web VM on)? I assume that these VMs needs to be on the same Vnet to be able to communicate
with each other.

It seems that you had mix up Windows Azure SQL database with SQL Server on Azure VM. When you create a SQL Server virtual machine in Azure, it similar to on-premises SQL Server installed on VM. You can create and manage databases with SSMS.
If you create a SQL database on Management Portal, the SQL database server host a VM of the datacenter, you cannot using the existing SQL Server VM which your created yourself.
When connect to the SQL database from your azure VM which hosted on Cloud Service, there is no need to create a virtual network, just configure the firewall rule of the SQL database server to allow connection from Windows
Azure Serivces.

I use rank() over(...) in a Filter operator
validate give a error: ora-30483

Currently OWB does not directly support analytical functions. The (not very elegant) workaround could be implementing these feature in custom transformations.
