How To user jstl in jsp 1.2?

hai all,
i can use jstl for each tag in jsp2.0 but i want to use it with weblogic 8.1 and it support servlet 2.3 and jsp 1.2 only. can any body show me how to use forEach tag in jsp 1.2.
thanks in advance,
Rahul

Then you'll need to use JSTL 1.0 instead of JSTL 1.1
read this: http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/doc/standard-doc/intro.html
Make sure that your web.xml conforms to the Servlet 2.3 spec and the tag library declarations are those of JSTL 1.0

  • How to pass values from JSTL to JSP or Javascript ?

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to share or use the variables which are declared are used by JSTL in JSP expression or scriplet code and in Java Script.
    Example:
    This Works:
    <fmt:set var="test" value="JSTL" />
    <fmt:out value="${test}" />
    But, this gives error:
    <% out.println(test) %>
    And passing the value of variable 'test' to Java Script code also gives error.
    How to use JSTL variables in JSP and in Javascript ?
    Yours,
    Sankar.B

    <% out.println(pageContext.getAttribute("test") %>
    If your tags use a different scope then you'll nee to access them accordingly e.g this will work
    <c:set var="test" value="JSTL" scope="session" />
    <c:out value="${test}" />
    <% out.println(session.getAttribute("test")); %>

    How to handle user session in JSP.......

    tell me some Debugging tech. so i can overcome from my problem.....Do you use an IDE? Any IDE ships with a decent debugger where in you can just execute the code step by step, explore the current variable values and check what exactly is happening. For example Eclipse or IntelliJ. If you don´t use an IDE, then just place some System.out.println() or Logger.debug() statements at strategic locations printing the variables of relevance so that you can track in logs what exactly is happening.
    or tell any other way to find is my page is thread safe or not...Just write correct code and narrow the scope of the variables as much as possible. If you for example assigned the user object to a static variable or as a servlet´s instance variable, then exactly the same user object would be used everywhere in the application. That kind of logical things.

  • How to catch java.io.FileNotFoundException when user enters a.jsp which is not a vali

    How to catch java.io.FileNotFoundException when a user enters a bogus jsp page. For example. I have a page called login.jsp. If a user enters log.jsp, the entire path is show and i get java.io.FileNotFoundException. This should not happen. This only happened since I upgraded to 9iAS. I tried send_error=true in zone.properties like i did when i was just using oracle http that came with database and it doesnt work. How are all you guys catching this?? I cant find any documentation. They say send_error=true will work, but IT DOESNT.
    Thanks for your time

    Hi Adam,
    I am also facing the same problem of the java.io.FIleNotFOundException in the browser display when i am giving a wrong file path in the Url. you have mentioned that you have solved it when you were using Orcale 8i Http Server, can you please guide me for that( as we are also using Oracle 8i) I checked with putting send_error=true in zone.properties file but that is not working. What exctly you have done to get rid of that error message. I am using Windows Nt platform.

  • Determin how many user log on the site using JSP/Servlet?

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to determine how many user log on the site using JSP/Sevlet? I'm running Apache 2.x & Tomcat 4.x
    I'm trying to get a list of user currently log in the site.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    -JN-

    You could use the HttpSessionBindingListener interface. Every time a user logs into the session put a user object into the session. The user object will implement the HttpSessionBindingListener interface. When the user object is added to a sessiion it recieves an event and it increments a counter. When the session times out or you invalidate the session because the user has logged out the user object will recieve an event and it can then decrement the counter.
    This will at least tell how many active user sessions there are.

  • URGENT..how to get ip address or computer name of user making a JSP request

    Hi,
    How do i in my jsp, get the user ip address or any other kind of identification via JSP..
    issit something like this...
    <%
    request.getRemoteUser() ;

    this jsp will be accessed when the remote user clicks a link from a normal web page...

    request.getRemoteUser usually gives the user name if the Authentication header is present and in case the user is authenticated via http authentication based mechanism.. when you want the ip address of a machine try the methods in socket.
    Something like this,
    InetAddress ia=<socketobject>.getInetAddress();
    String str=ia.getCanonicalHostName();

    For installing JSTL, all you need are the jar files in the web-inf/lib directory.
    - No entries in web.xml
    - no tld files lying around
    - no problems!
    I think you may have a versioning problem here.
    What version of Tomcat are you using?
    With JSP1.2 (eg Tomcat 4), you should be using JSTL1.0. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    With JSP2.0 (eg Tomcat 5), you should use JSTL1.1. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    Note the difference in the URIs. - the second one includes a /jsp
    Currently you are using the URI for JSTL1.0, but you look to have the tld from JSTL1.1. If you are using a JSP1.2 container, I don't think it could read this tld file, hence the error.
    Try installing the correct version of JSTL, properly (ie as they tell you in the readme file) and it should all work.

  • How to get real time information about how many user are logged in and thei

    I use tomcat as my server platform in Ubuntu for a war file.
    I know in order to get real time information about how many user are logged in, we can count how many active sessions exist by a SessionCounter code. However, I have to permit HttpSessionListener in web.xml of tomcat. From other users' experiences, the configuration is complexed and has some errors.
    Here's the link:http://www.stardeveloper.com/article...1112001&page=1
    In order to get users' ip, in jsp, use request.getremotehost() or
    request.getremoteaddress() by editing the jsp file.
    I wonder if there's some open source software to use for these two purposes.
    Thank you!

    That url is missing a few bits. The ... in the middle doesn't help.
    we can count how many active sessions exist by a SessionCounter code.
    However, I have to permit HttpSessionListener in web.xml of tomcat.
    From other users' experiences, the configuration is complexed and has some errors.And have you tried it? The configuration isn't that complex.
    What errors do you mean? Errors in tracking people, variance in the count? Probably related to internet issues and nothing you can do will alleviate them.

  • How to use threads in JSP???

    hello
    i want to use threads with JSP.
    i want to write a jsp page which will
    start 2 different threads. the 1st thread should just display a message and the second page should redirect this page to another jsp page.
    till the redirection is goin on, the message should be displayed in the browser from the 1st thread.
    i dont know actually how to use threads in JSP by implementing the Runnable insterface, if not m then how do i do it ??
    thanx
    Kamal Jai

    Why do you want to use threads to do this ??
    If you write a message and do a redirection, the message will be displayed until the other page will be loaded into the browser...
    I already launched a thread from a JSP but it was for a four hour process where the user can close his browser windows.

  • How to use jstl in weblogic 8.1

    I tried to use JSTL in my jsp file and I add
              <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %> at the top line. But the server reported
              java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/jsp/el/VariableResolver
              how to solve this problem?

    WebLogic 8.1 supports JSP 1.2, which doesn't natively implement the JSTL or the expression language. If you download the Jakarta Taglibs implementation of the JSTL (for JSP 1.2, not JSP 2.0), then you can use the JSTL taglib as a normal taglib. Note that this doesn't give you the ability to use the other JSP 2.0 tag features, like using the expression language in body content.
              Make sure that you use the uri value specified in the tld that you're using. I believe the values are different between the JSP 1.2 and JSP 2.0 versions.

  • How to not display page1.jsp and exiting

    My JSF application uses user certificates to validate the user. I put the validation code in the Page1.JSP constructor. If the user is not a valid user, how do I prevent Page1.jsp from displaying without throwing a FacesException (and clogging up my log files)?
    On a slightly different vein, how do I end my JSF application so the s4ession no loger uses resources? I.e., I have a "done" b utton on the page. What can I do to terminate the session in its action event?

    First, page navigation cant avoid that some user go directly to some page such :
    http://<site>/<app context>/faces/Page2.jsp
    The only way you can be shure that this doesnt happens is using a filter like the one discused here. I haven't the thread ID but you can find searching "session" or "security".
    I saw filter option but doesnt work for me, then I do a "brute force" checking at page bean constructor like:
    if (!getSessionBean1().isLoggedIn() ||
       (!getSessionBean1().isRole("OPER") )
       this.getExternalContext().redirect(
          this.getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath() + "/login.jsp");The login page sets some session properties and isLoggedIn() is something like:
    return (getUserName() != null && !getUserName().equals("");The logout code just invalidates the session.
    Regards.
