Suggestion: Block reviews when running leaked OS

Hello,
Not sure the best place to put this, so here is a good spot to start.
One of the most annoying things I've seen in App World is users posting bad reviews of good apps when they are not running an official OS. I would like to see an up date to App World that prohibits (blocks) the posting of reviews if the user is running a leaked version of BB10. If this is not possible, then force the OS version and build number to show up  in the footer of the posted review.
I can see many apps not selling or getting a bad rap simply because a fewer reviewers running leaked OSes complained that something does not work.
QNX + Android = BB10 = The only platform that offers the freedom of choice.

yep, not a bad idea.

  • Jdbc connection blocks when run from jar

    The following code establishes a connection EXCEPT when run from within a jar file:
    String jdbcDriverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
    String dbConnectionURL = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.2.7:1521:PRISM";
    String userName = "mdo";
    String password = "mdpass";
    // Load the JDBC driver and create a connection to the database
    Class.forName( jdbcDriverName );
    OracleDataSource dataSource = new OracleDataSource();
    dataSource.setURL( dbConnectionURL );
    dataSource.setUser( userName );
    dataSource.setPassword( password );
    connection = dataSource.getConnection();
    When run from a jar file, the application does not execute beyond the line:
    connection = dataSource.getConnection();
    No exceptions are thrown, it just appears that getConnection never returns.
    Do I need to do anything different to execute this code from within a jar file?
    Thanks in advance,
    Phil
    <><

    When building the JAR file, I inadvertently included files from two Oracle JDBC driver versions (1.2 and 1.4). I was building a single jar file with all files in it.
    I am guessing same named files existed in both driver JARs and caused "confussion" when combined into the single JAR.
    Still, I would have expected an exception to be thrown or a null connection to be returned instead if the thread just blocking.
    Thanks for all replies,
    Phil

  • Memory Leak when running Contacts

    I am having a big memory leak when running the app Contacts on a MB Air. It gobbles up 2 GB of ram in just a few minutes forcing a reboot. I have re-installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and it still leaks memory. Watching Activity Monitor shows the rapid increase in Ram being gobbled up by Contacts. Used Mackeeper to clear cache as well as ran Cocktail, all to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    The size of oracle.exe is not an indication of how the Java VM GC works; so you are not comparing apples to apples. It'll be too long to explain here but in my upcoming book (see hereafter), I gave a detailled explanation of the various memory areas the Java VM uses and how these are GCed and also how you can meausre their size (not all, though).
    In short you want to use OracleRuntime methods such as
    OracleRuntime.getSessionSize(); --> get he current size of Sessionspace
    OracleRuntime.getNewspaceSize(); --> get he current size of Newspace
    there are other memory areas described in the book

    Hello Jasmit and Vishal
    Sorry it has taken me a long time to repsond and this is still an issue.  I have been bogged down with other things that has consumed my time.
    I have tried to reset the buffer but to no avail.  No we are not suing TREX.  We are currently on GTS 7.2. but soon to upgrade to GTS10...This is really a strange issue...I can do a check on the name David and it will block...that is a shorter name than Transavia....so I am really confused by this...again Transavia Network will block...same country...
    Any guidance on this is really appreciated.

  • Global data getting reset when running under IIS?

    We have a scenario using IIS with an ASP.NET web service written in VB.NET. When a call to the web service is made, the web service calls a native dll (written in C, compiled using VS2010) using platform invoke, which in turn calls into our product API:
    VB.NET web service -> native library (p/invoke) -> native API ....
    Web service requests are successfully completed and the system runs without problem for hours. A trace of the native API shows it is being called by multiple processes and multiple threads within those processes.
    The main native API dll contains a static global variable used to detect whether it is the first time it has been called and run initialization logic if it is. This dll is itself linked to a second dll that contains a global variable used to detect if it is
    the first time it has been called.
    After some hours the trace shows that the native API is invoked by an existing process but that the initialization logic is being exercised again, even though the global variable was set to indicate not first time and is never reset.  One theory was that
    the first process has ended and a new process has started almost instantaneously using the same process ID. However this is not the case as existing thread IDs from the same process are seen to write to the trace again after the first time logic has executed
    for the second time, indicating the process has not restarted. The problem occurs regularly.
    It is as though the process's global data has been initialized again and malloc'ed memory freed while the processing is still running. Is there any way this is possible when running under IIS?
    There is an internal thread which waits on a blocking read of a named pipe (via ReadFile), and when the problem occurs, the ReadFile call ends with ERROR_NO_ACCESS, which appears to indicate the malloc'ed buffer is no longer valid, again implying something
    has happened to the memory allocated to the process.

  • Strange issue when running sql with false condition

    Hi,
    I'm running this query from the application:
    select 22

    select 'X'
    from TABULA.macdent$FNCITEMS

    And it takes a long time because it is checking the second condition.
    Even though the first one is False.
    When running it through sqlplus it takes nothing. and of course no rows returns.
    The 0 in to_number is a bind variable
    it looks like this:

    Why are you using "to_number(0)"? the zero is already seen by oracle as a number.
    The to_number function expects to get a character string as the argument: to_number('0')
    See the difference?
    As you currently have it coded, you are forcing oracle to do an implicit conversion of the number zero to the character string '0' in order to pass it to to_number to convert it back to the number zero.
    And what is the point of "where to_number(0) <> 0"
    When would that EVER be true?
    And it takes a long time because it is checking the second condition.
    Even though the first one is False.
    When running it through sqlplus it takes nothing. and of course no rows returns.
    The 0 in to_number is a bind variable

    from TABULA.macdent$FNCITEMS
    where ( macdent$FNCITEMS.QIV = to_number(:QIV$) ) )
    So the query you showed at the top is not the query we are really dealing with. What is the data type of QIV$? At least now we know that comparison to zero is not a fixed value.
    1 - filter predicate: ( IS NOT NULL AND 0<>TO_NUMBER(TO_CHAR(:QIV$)))
    This suggests QIV$ is already a number, else why would you pass it to to_char? And as I said above, if it is already a number, why pass it to to_number? Here you appear to be explicitly doing what I described oracle as implicitly doing in your first query above.
    But in sqlplus the filter predicates is different.
    1 - filter(NULL IS NOT NULL AND EXISTS (SELECT 0 FROM "TABULA"."MACDENT$FNCITEMS" "MACDENT$FNCITEMS" WHERE
    SQL> select 22
    from DUAL
    where ( to_number(0) <> 0 ) and exists (

    hi!
    Thanks for the post and I hope your well today.
    There could be a number of reasons why your code crashes - which vi was it?
    Have you checked for memory leaks? or CPU usage?
    When you say "on vista" does this mean it doesnt crash XP?
    Does you code crash another machine?
    More details would really help the community to resolve your issue.

  • Dreaded "port 3689 blocked" message when trying to sync Apple TV

    I have a suggestion that MIGHT help others . . .
    I, too, received the infamous "3689 blocked" message when syncing my ATV (1st gen) to iTunes.  Never had the issue before, maybe the latest update to iTunes had something to do with it?
    Anyway, I tried everything . . . turning off firewall, adding access to port 3689 (TCP protocol) for the Apple TV in my router software, etc.  All to no avail.  Same error.  Then, I came across a reference online to adding access to port 5353 (UDP protocal) . . . that was the trick (at least for me).  So, include both in your firewall access and/or router port forwarding access and see if that does the trick for you.

    You don't need to, just check your firewall settings and ensure that access is allowed to iTunes.
    Are you running any other security software on your Mac.

    Hi Rajani.
      ALV require the DRYPOR(screen) for display but incase you run in back ground which have to write to spool but in spool we can only write in format of LIST REPORT not inter-active report like ALV. That why
    system cancelled your process immediately.
    Hope it helps.

  • Runtime Error  -GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED when running COI

    Hi ALL,
    We are getting run time error -  GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED when running COI tasks.
    Error analysis
         You attempted to access an unassigned field symbol
         (data segment 32995).
         This error may occur for any of the following reasons:
         - You address a typed field symbol before it is set using ASSIGN
         - You address a field symbol that points to a line in an internal table
           that has been deleted
         - You address a field symbol that had previously been reset using
           UNASSIGN, or that pointed to a local field that no longer exists
        - You address a global function interface parameter, even
          though the relevant function module is not active,
          that is it is not in the list of active calls. You can get the list
          of active calls from the this short dump.
    How to correct the error
        You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
        in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
        use the following search criteria:
        "GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED" C
        "CL_UC_COI_ACT_PT==============CP" or "CL_UC_COI_ACT_PT==============CM00P"
        "REDUCE_GOODWILL_ENTRIES"
        If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
        an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
        1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
           To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
           Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    2. A suitable printout of the system log
        To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
        Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
        after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
        "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
        supply the source code.
        To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
        Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred

  • PersistenceService denies permission when running an Applet

    I'm converting an application that uses JWS to run inside a browser. Ok, so it's not just a matter of changing <application-desc> to <applet-desc> (which is just about the only change I made to the jnlp), but the problem I'm getting is not one I expected.

        } catch (Exception e) {
          // any other error is bad
          Globals.nonFatalMsg(null, classId, propsFailureMsg, newURLBase, e.getClass().getName(), e.getMessage());
        }This code is throwing a MalformedURLException. (ps is an instance of PersistenceService). The Message returned by getMessage() is that access to persistent data was denied for the URL.
    This exact code works perfectly well when run from the desktop application. I'm serving the same jar for the application and the applet. So the URL in newURL is exactly the same for both the application and the applet (I'm serving them both from the same IIS web site). Just the HTML and the JNLP are different.
    I thought JWS applets and applications run in exactly the same sandbox. And I thought PersistenceService didn't need any kind of permissions. (Although the JavaDoc does say this can happen.)
    Could this be a Browser issue? I get the same result in FireFox and IE. Could it be a java.policy issue?
    I'm running 1.6.0_20.

    - BasicService.showDocument(URL) // replaces the applet page or opens new browser/tab?
    - IntegrationService // 1.6.0_18+ - shortcuts and menu items are not appropriate for an embedded applet.
    I was about to include the PersistenceService in that list, but ultimately it makes every bit of sense to allow embedded JNLP applets to have access to serialisation between runs. The older methods of applets storing data are now probably blocked to the JNLP embedded applets (e.g. creating a cookie).
    If you cannot find anything in the bug DB, please raise a bug report and request the documentation address all these areas.
    Edit 1:
    By 'bug report' above, read 'request for enhancement'. Whether it is a bug depends on Sun's expectation of what they wanted the API to do. ;)

    Edit 2:
    BTW - did you try it with a free-floating applet as well, or just an embedded applet?

  • Getting Access is Denied when Running Script in OSD Task Sequence

    I am attempting put in a script that will move the computer account to the proper OU in AD.  I have the script but when it launches inside of the TS I get "CScript Error: Loading script "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\WDPackage\Scripts\MoveOU.vbs" failed
    (Access is denied. )."
    I am using the Run Command Line, and using the "Run this step as the following account"  I have verified that the account has access to do what I need it to do in AD.  I have attached the logs as well.

    "You can't fix stupid!"

    I'm having the exact same issue.  I'm using AutoIT for my script to move the computer account.  I've tried using ADO, LDAP, and LDAP/ADSystemInfo object.  They all fail with access denied.  In fact the ADO version of my script fails just
    trying to create the "ADODB.Connection" object which I know for a fact doesn't require elevation or administrator access.  However, all three versions of the script work correctly when run manually outside the TS.  They also work correctly on XP
    machines during OSD.  Only when deploying a Win7 machine do they fail during the TS.  I've tried adding the runas user to the local administrators group beforehand but no dice.  Did you have to restart the computer after doing the net localgroup
    change?  There has to be some other security config in Win7 that is set somewhere doing this.  I just can't figure out what.  I've even started looking at DCOM/COM permissions to see if something isn't right there.
    I don't see why but maybe the script needs to be run locally?  Any other ideas?
