How to view session parameters of other sessions?

Hi
I have a problem with an application that is related to character sets, codepages and NLS settings.
As all my tests (with sqlplus) where successful I suppose the application is setting any NLS parameters that cause the problem. To further investigate the issue I'd like to see the session parameters of the session the application is using.
I know NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS has the information for my session, but how do I get the information for any other session?? Is this possible at all?
best regards,
Marcus

So I have to do tracing? There is no view or table where I can quickly lookuo the info? That's a pity!
Anyway, meanwhile I found out that the backend of the application has the ability to send custom SQLs to the server. So I just did a select on NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS from there and voila there was a configuration issue...
Ok, another question, maybe a dumb question, but I am missing NLS_CHARACTERSET in NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS.
NLS_CHARACTERSET is available in NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS and in V$NLS_PARAMETERS - but not in NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS.
Shouldn't it be possible to set the characterset within the session to adjust the output to the local client? If I set the NLS_LANG=language_territory.charset on the client, where does the charset go?

  • How to view sessions belonging to Premium Access Zone

    Hi,
Can any one let me know how to read and run the sessions that are avaialble in
the Premium Access Zone tab of SDN network?? When i tried clicking on the option "View Session" it does not take any action. Kindly help.
    Many Thanks,

Suggest answer was in the right direction, but I needed to see a lock that was held for more than 30 minutes for a session that had expired. I found what I was looking for by navigating to Targets / Databases / dbname / Performance / Top Activity / View Data = Historical
Then I dragged the shaded box to the time interval when the locking issue occured (clearly visible in the colorful graph showing the spike when the problem occured). This showed the session id and query that was suffering and I could generate an ASH report.

  • How to view concurrent request of other users

We have upgraded recently to R 12.
Would really appreciate if some one can guide me how i can allow the super user "A" to be able to view all the concurrent requests that were submitted by various key users of HRMS.
I know in 11i there is a profile option: "Concurrent: Report Access Level" that defines who can access the output of concurrent requests.
I want to assign the same to one user (super user) only in R12 instance.
    how to do this???

  • How to view all user_source on others servers from one admin server?

    Hello. Thank you for helping.
I am not able to view the source for other schemas locally or on remote servers, depending on the user logged, only for that schema, or something like that.
I use this command to view the source of a procedure:
    select line, text
    from user_source
    where type='PROCEDURE'
    and name='MY_PROC1'
    order by line;
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source...
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source@dblink1...
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Okay, the DDL method is not going to work. Let me go back to my original question:
I use this command to view the source of a procedure, but I still cannot select source from a remote server across a dblink. How do I specify the remote schema with the user_source?
    select line, text
    from user_source
    where type='PROCEDURE'
    and name='MY_PROC1'
    order by line;
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source...
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source@dblink1...

  • How to view uncommited data from other session

    Hi

    Jigar,

You cannot do 'dirty reads' in Oracle. You can only see committed changes, and you have the choice of seeing committed changes after each individual statement in your transaction (default), or only after a transaction has finished. With the default level, running the same query multiple times within a transaction may yield different results.
I suspect that you have used this approach with Sybase or SQL Server for performance reasons, but you will not need to do this with Oracle. I recommend you read Tom Kyte's "Expert One-On-One: Oracle" book for an excellent discussion of Oracle's locking and concurrency mechanisms.

  • Error while Driving a view using parameters from other view

    Hi,
I have created a report with streamlist and Barchart view.Driving option is used in streamlist to drive the barchart. The driving works well untill i dont use any filters in the Streamlist.Once i use parameters in streamlist , the driving works only for the default values set. When Second set of values are chosed for the parameter, the values are displayed correctly , but once they are selected for driving, the current values are replaced by the results of the default parameter settings.
I have already done the tutorials for driving and it worked well untill i use filters in the main view, from where the driving is done.
I would really appreciate if someone could give a solution for this problem.

    Hi,
Login as i.e. sys as sysdba. Standard password is change_on_install.
Or you can login in using user that has CREATE VIEW WITH ADMIN OPTION and then grant CREATE VIEW privilege to user to want.

  • How to view channels used by other local wireless networks?

I use a wireless airport network in my office, with my Airport Express (802.11g) base station about 10 feet from my iMac. I get a lot of interference (from other networks or cordless phones) and despite interference robustness being on, my airport signal gets dropped fairly often -- and with it, I lose my Internet access and wireless printer.
There are about 15 other local wireless networks (owned by other businesses). I thought I might improve my interference robustness by switching my wireless channel to a channel used by the least number of other networks.
Now, I seem to remember running into an (Apple) app somewhere that showed these local wireless networks with their channels. But now I can't find it again, so I can't tell which channel is least used. I hope someone can help me find that app or functionality again!
    Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion; I checked it out and found some questionable reviews on VersionTracker for iStumbler so I'm hesitant to jump right in (does it still fill up the Console log?)
In any case, I seem to remember finding channel information using some other application or preferences pane or something already on my system, but now I can't remember where. Is there any app that comes with OS X that shows channels on local wireless networks? I can't find this feature in Airport Utility.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • How to view the session in the web container

    hi, Folks,
is there any way to view the sessions in J2EE web container? I need to know how many living session currently in the web container.
    Thanks

You did not indicate the Web Server version that you are using for web container. Assuming its Sun Java System Web Server 6.1, per Servlet 2.3 specification, you should be able to use of session creation and destruction events. This can be done using HttpSessionListener to count active sessions. Here's the docs for reference:

  • How can a session have an ACTIVE status with a WAITING state

    Hi all,
I would like to know the difference between status and state of a session ?
    The documentation says :
for status ACTIVE : Session currently executing SQL
for state WAITING : The session is currently waiting...
How can a session execute a SQL statement and be waiting at the same time ?
    Regards,
    fcjunic.

    Hi fcjunic,
It's really not paradoxical, once you understand the definition of the terms.
First, we have V$SESSION.STATUS, which can be ACTIVE or INACTIVE. A session is ACTIVE if it's in a database call. So, think of this from the client side point of view. A session does a parse call, or an execute call, or a fetch call, etc. For the duration of that call, till control returns back to the client, that session is said to be ACTIVE.
From the time the calls returns, till the time of the next call, the session is INACTIVE.
Next, we have V$SESSION.STATE. This is probably more useful to think of from the server process point of view. This refers to whether the server process is currently running, i.e. on the CPU, or WAITING, i.e., waiting on a resource. Possible values for this column are WAITING, WAITED KNOWN TIME, WAITED SHORT TIME, and WAITED UNKNOWN TIME. Of those possibilities, a session is only actually waiting if STATE is WAITING. All the other values mean that it's no longer waiting, but is running on CPU.
A session w/ STATUS of INACTIVE, will always be in STATE of WAITING, waiting on the 'SQL*NET message from client' wait. So, in that case, it means the server process is waiting around for work to do. It's in between calls, so, STATUS is INACTIVE, and it's waiting on that network port, to receive the next call from the client.
An example of a session that's ACTIVE and has STATE of WAITING, would be a session that's, for example, doing a full table scan. So, it's got lots of data to read from disk. While the session waits for the read from disk to complete, the session waits on 'db file scattered read'.
Finally, for completeness, the difference between the different possible values of the STATE column. I already covered WAITING. If a session is not waiting, it's now on CPU, and it previously waited. If so, it either waited more than 10 ms, in which case it will report WAITED KNOWN TIME, or less than 10 ms, in which case it reports WAITED SHORT TIME, or timed_statistics is false, in which case this column will always be WAITED UNKNOWN TIME. Also, it's important to pay attention to this column, when trying to interpret the WAIT_TIME and SECONDS_IN_WAIT columns.

    Hi Java Gurus,
Can any body tell me how to manage session in java.

1st url gives the login form and second one coes after succesfull login.
Now I am not using any web browser. I have to surf these pages through java code using java api ( HttpURLConnection, HttpSession, URL etc...).
I am able to access login form, but after login when I connect second url, it gives session expired message in the html stream.
This is because I am not managing session. So can any body have any idea or pointer. How I can manage sesssion and access second page after succesfull login.
    I will appreciate your help.
    Thanks and regards -
    Vikas Kumar Sahu.

What I do in some of our test-clients is that I call the login and get all the cookies from the header and add them to the next request.
More or less what pkwooster suggested.
Also, I suggest that you take a look at http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/
    and the Example code http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jakarta/commons/proper/httpclient/trunk/src/examples/CookieDemoApp.java?view=markup

in the jsp, set the scope to request. it might help. u might also want to re-direct it to a new jsp which is a copy of the existing processLauch.jsp to avoid fiddling around with the old one. :)
