How to zoom out to see entire project?

I can't zoom out far enough using the zoom slider to see the entire project.
Anyone know of a way I can do it?

Thanks for your help, it's a shame that there's no Overview view to see the whole project.

How to zoom out and view an entire track in the window

There's got to be a way to zoom out so an entire track can viewed at once so that segments of the track can be shifted around. I have a track that is about 50 minutes long with several segments in it. I want to shift the segments around. Right now I can only view about a minute of the track at a time and have to click on the segment then move the cursor either left or right and wait for Garageband to scroll to the time where I want to put it. Isn't there a way to just zoom out and view the entire track and then shift segments around without all the scrolling? Does that make sense?

I am trying to figure out how to save/share only a clip out of an entire project. I do not want to delete the rest of the timeline as I want to cut/copy out several smaller clips and save/share them as their own files. I am working on a copy of my original video, and I know I can just bring the project timeline down repeatedly to isolate this clip by deleting all else, but feel there must surely be a simple way to do this.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
For now I will generalize the principles involved. If more details needed then, please supply the details of your situation and Timeline track placement.
You would place the gray tabs of the WorkArea Bar to span just the area to be exported.
The tabs are set...
Move the Timeline Indicator to the start of the segment, hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard as you hit the left bracket key [
then
Move the Timeline Indicator to the end of the segment, hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard as you hit the right bracket key ]
The critical step is to make sure that you have a check mark next to the "Share Work Area Bar Only" option in the export dialog (if the dialog has that option).

How to Zoom Out

I'm using iMovie 7.1.4 to create a video that will include a slide show of photos with transitions, titles, short video clips, and music. I simply want to take a picture and either zoom in from the full shot or zoom out to the full shot. This is so basic and yet I can't find how to do it with iMovie08. Ken Burns only seems to allow me to select a small section of the photo and pan to a another section. Please help. I'm so desparate that I'm considering borrowing a Windows laptop and downloading Photostory. If this is not possible with iMovie08, could you suggest another program? Ultimately, the whole thing will run about 20 minutes and I want to put it on a DVD for general viewing. Help!

Yes. iMovie will not add the black border so that you can fully zoom a portrait photo in Ken Burns. You can add the black border yourself in a tool like Photoshop. Or if you are familiar with Automator, there is an Automator Action called "Pad Images" which will do this.

Photomerge in PS CS (v.8): how to zoom out?

I use Photoshop CS (v.8.0) on a Mac G4 (PPC) with OS X 10.4.11.
When I use Photomerge and get to the screen in which my two (or more) images can be joined, I see the zoom-in tool (and this works perfectly well) but I cannot find either a key-combination for zooming out again, or a tool to do this. The online Photoshop 'Help' pages seem to talk about a zoom-out tool, but I imagine the 'Help' pages may be for later versions of Photoshop.
I should be grateful for any instructions for zooming out.

But I now realize that when I tried Option-zoom, what I did was hold down Option and click on the image instead of holding down Option, clicking on the zoom tool and then clicking on the image. All of my information no longer fits on to my screen. For example, in the top RH corner, where the time and my name is, I need to use my mouse to scroll across my screen to see all of the information.

The Apple TV doesn't have any zoom controls, it's one of your TV settings that is causing this. (Assuming you aren't watching older 4:3 content of course)

How do you zoom out from a fixed point?

Okay, I'm not sure if this is possible, but...
My first video clip in a scene is pretty boring, since there's no action, just a guy typing at his keyboard. To add in some motion, I'd like to have it start out so that all you can see are his eyes, but then it zooms out to show the whole scene.
So what I'd want to do is somehow set his eyes as a fixed point and then zoom out from there. However, I have no idea how to go about doing this, since I don't even know how to zoom out. I know how to zoom in, but not out.
Could someone please help me?

Slow screen redraw when I click playhead and zoom out

The arrange mode is slow to redraw when I click the playhead and zoom out. The slider thingy at the bottom of the screen works totally fast like normal. I just upgraded to Logic 9. Might this be a known problem or is it coincidental? Any tips?

I am using Logic 9.1.1. on Snow Leopard. Upon installing Logic 9 recently, I noticed that the seemless screen redraws ( from extreme close up to extreme zoom out) takes over five separate attempts. it's like there's only so much video power to do it one shot like I used to.
To be clear, let's say I'm very zoomed into a region editing an vocal comp track. Then I want to zoom out to see the whole project from start to finish. I click the playhead in the global tracks area. Then I push up and it shrinks the project to fit the screen. The problem is that it only goes so far before I have to release the mouse where it is and then try another run at it.
Here's a self-answer:
My feeling is that Logic has made it a more exacting science of how to manipulate the zoom in and out with the playhead. I actually feel it's faster now, you just have to stay within certain limits and not take your mouse and go too far up into the shorcuts area like I was used to in Logic 8. You have to stay within the global tracks area and your horizontal movements will be very fast actually and very smooth.

Zooming Out- Panning to Centre Problem

Is there a way to zoom out without being panned towards the centre? I'm working on the corner of an image and occasionally zoom out to see it in context but the view flies towards the centre so I have to pan back again.

Yeah that's hard to do and frustrating in photoshop elements.
(in the full version of photoshop it's much easier by using the bird's eye view)
It depends on how big you want to see the image when zoomed out but the navigator might do.
(Window>Navigator)
Or you could create a new view of your image (Window>Images>New Window) and either have it stay on top by making your zoomed in image a tab and the new window a floating document
or switch to the zoomed out image and back using Ctrl+Tab.
Whatever you do to one image will show on the other.

There are various components already made on the internet such as v-cam, you can basically control the stage/view, scaling the v-cam keeps the objects on the stage the same, but scales the camera.

Set scale values when zoom out

Hi!
I have a XY Graph and I want it to have three different scale ranges depending on a case structure. So, for example, if it's case 1, I have the xy graph X.minimum = 1,234 and xy graph X.maximum = 10,789 and so on.
I want to be able to zoom the graph but then when I zoom out to see all the points, I want it to have the same range I defined. I have the autoscale turned off and when I do the zoom out, it shows me different minumum and maximum values....
Any help?

Hello Zephirus,
When you ask a zoom out, write the scale value that you define, using a property node. To get it, right click on the XY graphe terminal, in the diagram, then select Create >> Property node >> X (or Y) Scale >> Range then All elements, or just the elements you need to coerce.

Zoom out issue on shared members

Hi All,
While doing Ad-Hoc Analysis on EPMA planning app using Smartview, When I zoom out on a shared member, It is showing its original parent rather than the shared member parent. Is this a bug?
Planning version is 11.1.2.3 and Smartview is 11.1.2.5.

I am not sure its a bug. This behaviour has been around for a while. How your zoom out works depends on what you have in your report.
So, if all you have in your report is the shared member, with no reference to other areas of the shared dimension essbase has no way of knowing you have the shared member. It thinks it is the stored member and will always zoom out on the stored primary hierarchy.
Try this. On the report also have the total parent of the shared hierarchy in addition to the shared member. So what I am saying is that if you drill down in report, always drill inclusive of the total of the shared hierarchy. Then essbase has a reference to drill back up the shared hierarchy.
