How tonsee how much IO each open port is doing?

Hi all,
Is there any way to see how much IO each open port is doing?
Netstat, lsof and portstat all show the open ports. I want to see how much IO each is doing. Even better would be an historical list.
Seems like such a useful piece of data that one would think that the command exists and is probably some option on netstat or something that I have missed.
I will even write the C program to extract the information from the kernel if that data exists but is not available from an existing command.
I suppose if nobody knows what that command would be perhaps they can point me toward the kernel docs to see if I can find the information in the OS?
Thank you.

tcpdump
DESCRIPTION
Tcpdump prints out a description of the contents of packets on a net-
work interface that match the boolean expression. It can also be run
with the -w flag, which causes it to save the packet data to a file for
later analysis, and/or with the -r flag, which causes it to read from a
saved packet file rather than to read packets from a network interface.
In all cases, only packets that match expression will be processed by
tcpdump.

As Justin had given the reply.
See, Basically you instance depends on the SGA and PGA, If you want find out the Current Instance values, you need to Calcuate the Values Configure for your instance from V$parameters values you can get it.
    SGA will depends on the (DB_CACHE_SIZE + LOG_BUFFER + SHARED_POOL_SIZE + LARGE_POOL_SIZE + JAVA_POOL_SIZE)
Rest of things you need to understand what is an instance and further. Refer the link so that it will help you understand the things

  • How do i see how much storage each application is using?

my mac gave me a warning that it is nearly out of storage.  I have 500GB internal storage which i am surprised i am almost out of.
i use a DSLR camera which takes up a lot of storage with each picture but i am still surprised.  how can i see how much each application is taking up in terms of storage?
    Thanks.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Is it possible to find out how much memory each App is taking up?

    Hi,
About 2.5gb of my iPhone's memory is taken up by Apps, according to iTunes.
Is it possible to determine which Apps are using big chunks of memory? Is it possible at all to find out for each App how much memory it uses?

There's no tutorial from Apple to say. It's three things I've noticed. Applications not classified yet by the iTunes computer, Application's stored data and redundant memory.
One time I noticed a very high usage of "other" when I know I installed Applications. I unchecked the Applications and synced to remove it all down to redundant memory, resynced and it went to nearly all Application space with a lower "other" space.
If you plug in your iPhone and access the iTunes iPhone options, you can uncheck applications and resync to find out if that lowers the "other" memory of 1.5 Gigs.
Or you can try unchecking the music, videos, photos, etc and see if that is it too.
A clean restore may help too.

  • How much memory each session on HPUX

    Hi
Can any one let me know following below ,
    1. How to calculate how much memory consumed by each oracle session on dedicated server configuration.
    2. Using the top command on HPUX 11.11
CPU TTY PID USERNAME PRI NI SIZE RES STATE TIME %WCPU %CPU COMMAND
    1 ? 4203 oracle 148 20 70208K 5300K sleep 3:24 31.21 31.15 oracleCD_PR
    1 ? 5482 oracle 154 20 74304K 11580K sleep 0:51 18.23 18.19 oracleCD_PR
From the above output of top command SIZE= 70208K
is that value correct of memory used by single session ?.
    Thanks

    You can metalink doc
Script: Listing Memory Used By All Sessions
    Doc ID: Note:1070975.6
for a statement to report session memory usage.
Since all the Oracle sessions/processes linked to same share memory, top memory usage report is not accurate.
For HPUX you can use glance to determine real memory usage.

  • TypeKit Update. How much closer to opening up the whole library?

Nearly two years ago there was a spirited discussion here about TypeKit fonts and how only a limited number of them can be used with Adobe Muse. Admittedly, there are a few hundred  typefaces available, but if you need a specific font -- because, for instance, you have to conform to a corporate branding program -- you're effectively out of luck.
In 2012, the official word was that this was an acknowledged issue and would take time to work through the hurdles, both technical and legal.
So now that nearly two years have  elapsed, I'm wondering how much closer we are to expanding the entire TypeKit library for use in Muse. This is an issue that has come up for me a few times in building client sites and it's getting to be an untenable obstacle.
For what it's worth, I've seen that there is a "less than optimal" non-WYSIWYG workaround, which is described here at Muse Insider. Could Dani be induced to do one of her Muse Jam Sessions on this topic and walk us through whatever workarounds are currently available to subscribers? I'd love to see this in action before attempting it myself.
Anyone from the Muse team care to update us?
    Thanks.

Frankly we wildly underestimated the demands that were going to be put on the Typekit team as a side effect of the acquisition. They've been buried for the past two years integrating with Adobe's infrastructure, enabling their website for the broad set of languages supported by Adobe products, implementing the new Desktop Sync functionality, and no doubt doing a lot of other high priority stuff I know nothing about. All those activities were ranked as higher priority than work on a Muse-specific integration, since they benefit a larger portion of the Creative Cloud subscribers. Now that Desktop Sync and the infrastructure and language support work is well underway or completed, we're actively working to re-engage with the Typekit team to provide deeper integration with Muse. Still no ETA (other than to say it won't be part of the release due out later this quarter), but we have not forgotten the need for access to a much broader base of high quality Web Fonts.

  • Why don't they put how much usage each update will take.  I am on broadband and not sure if I have enough GBs left to do an update.

I have broadband and it just cost me $75 OVER my monthly bill to download Yosemite and the update for iphotos.  NOW, I have notice that it needs two more updates.  Why don't they tell us how much data will be used with an update so we can plan when and which updates to do now, and some later?  The old system they had, they did tell and I was able to ration out which ones to update over the months.

It all depends on how much you'll use the iPhone for internet access. Personally, I use it frequently (work email, browsing with Safari, the Amazon.com app, etc.,) and I use 200-300 MB per month. My wife does not use her iPhone for much outside of email, weather, etc., occasional Internet browsing, and she uses 40-50 MB per month. So, you should be fine with 150 MB.
    Hope that helps...

  • How can I report how much time each "line" in TS 3.5 takes? I am using TS 3.5 and LV 8.2.1

I am running TS 3.5 and LV 8.2.1.  I want to know how long each line is taking to run.  Is there a way to set up a global pre/post condition that would create time stamps?  I would then be able to perhaps grab some identifying property of the step and log this property and the delta-time to an output or file...etc.
I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.
    Many thanks!

The time information you're looking for should already be in the ResultList»TS»Sequence Call»ResultList»TS Variable. I've attached a screenshot of this. Let me know if this is the kind of information you are looking for.

  • I want to be able to limit certain game apps, but let them have unlimited in educational apps. Or just be able to clock how much of each app they are on.

I have 4 children under the age of 11. I would love it if there was an app that said you have to do a certain amount of minutes on educational apps first THEN you could do fun games. At the very least have a running total at the end of each day and week so I could really see what they play with most. Just trying to keep my kids for getting into trouble of any kind. Thoughts. I know droid makes Play this 2 play that. But I haven't seen a single app for apple that clocks the app times (not internet usuage) and turns off and app not the device when a time has been reached. HELP!!!
    Thanks!

Sorry, I don't think there's anything in the ipad that allows that. There are parental control browsers such as McGruff, however i'm not aware of any sort of timer or 'ipad nanny'  type of app.

and what is the above value indicate as it showing too much high BW.
    Pl. help

    JC,
The interface bandwidth is 1 Gbps as you can see below,
MTU 4474 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,
The below are interface stats (or counters) that indicates the number of packets that came in via this interface
     43483205208 packets input, 30686252708584 bytes
         4126465891920915 packets output, 125766989568145 bytes
You can use "clear counters" to reset the above stats.

  • How much info about the cache-cluster does the client have and What would you recommend about putting the cluster behind virtual ip

    Hi,
I will appreciate if someone can point me to some documentation as to how app-fabric client library accesses the app-fabric cluster.
What I have found so far is that the list of hosts provided in the client configuration are used as an entry point into the Cache-Cluster. By connecting to one of hosts, the client will download information about all the hosts constituting the cluster.
Since a named cache is distributed across the entire cluster, and the data can be stored on any node. How does the client decide which node it should connect to, to get the data from. Does the client have enough information to know which host has the data
or the client will connect to one of the nodes, if the node has data, it will serve it otherwise redirect the client to the node that has the data.
I also would like to know what do you say about the idea that we would like to put our cache-cluster behind a virtual ip, so that if needed, we can take down nodes or add more nodes. In fact the virtual ip will that of a load balancer, but we don't plan to
use it for load balancing purposes but the idea is that the client will have the virtual ip address and we can repoint this IP address, if we need to take out a node for maintenance reason.

I'm not sure about the reason for putting the cache servers in a VIP, but one of the reasons why the cache servers should be made known to the servers is because of auto load balancing and throughput
Imagine i have 10 cache servers running on 1G ethernet links, theoretically i have 10G usable bandwidth and the clients will be able to manage and load balance if any of the cache server fails or have performance issues
Now if all these were parked behind a VIP
    1. The LB now does the load balancing, which may not be optimal
    2. The LB may not have 10G upstream and 10G downstream, even if it has, this is quite a waste of resource\
