HP 309A goes offline daily, can't keep wireless connection

I have tried chat help, hands on computer tech in my home ($$$$), re-installing multiple times from start to finish, setting IP address to manuel, nothing works....it prints for an hour or a day and then goes offline again and I have to do the whole thing all over again.  I'm sick of this....bought the printer in 4/2010 online.  I'm past the return date.  Any body have a real, permanent solution for getting this printer to work wirelessly?  I was very happy with my previous HP all in one printer...it finally wore out.  If this isn't solved soon, I'll dump it and NEVER buy another HP product....HP are you listening?????

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.  I wish I had a summary of what the others who have tried to help did.  But because I don't, a little more information would help.
When you say 'goes offline' do you mean the printer  display says offline or the connection to the printer from your computer?
Is the time of the 'going offline' consistent or random - maybe after a specific amount of time?
Do you have another network you could connect the printer to temporarily to see if the problem still happens?
Has the printer always done this or did this start after a few days or weeks?
I'm just trying to determine if this is a printer issues or the environment where the printer resides.  If it is the printer you should get it replaced - especially if this issue has been happening since day one.
Thanks,
Foster

    Hello gerrie,
What i would do is Power cycle the printer and the router as well
-basically having them turned off for about 10-15 seconds
-and then powering back the router back on wait for all the lights to turn on completely
-and after that is back up and running i would turn the printer back on and re-establish the connection between the printer and the Wireless network

  • Email randomly goes offline. Can I somehow get it to stay online unless I ask it not to?

    Thunderbird question.
Email seems to work fine for me, but... It sometimes may go offline when I am on the web or have put it to sleep. I look for emails and the pop-up says: "You are offline. Would you like to go online...." Not a big deal, but annoying, and also troubling in that I don't know what I may have done to bring this on. It may happen several times in a day, or it may behave itself for a day or two.

Thunderbird goes offline when it sees the network connection go away. Keep that from happening and Thunderbird stays online.
Are you on a laptop that goes to sleep and powers down the network card?
Have you discovered the online/offline icon in the lower left corner of the screen? It looks like 2 monitors. You can check and change states from there.

  • How can I keep MAC connected to a specific router on my 3 router home network

How can I keep MAC connected to a specific router on my 3 router home network? Closest router is Airport in same room but keeps jumping to Belkin router one floor below.

In the settings, be sure the Channel your router works on is Different than the other.
Be sure the Security is set, so you login to the correct router with password.
Have the computer remember the home wireless router of your choice. Not just any.
Be sure your router in top in the list of connection sources for your computer.

Perhaps you should check into and maybe reset the airport or other base station

should be easy to find in the Help viewer in your OS X or online at Apple Support.

  • Setting up my AT&T Tilt to connect to any WiFi network? Can't keep a connection

I can find access points, but can't keep a connection. Is there a step by step I could follow? I don't have much with this type of setup.

There are two access points which offer free Wifi at a local shopping center, Staples and Panera Bread, with a 3rd being in range of my own home.
I've been able to connect to the 3rd (with a clear "Connected" message being displayed), but each time I open my Explorer I receive the message
"Cannot Connect. Ensure that your phone is correctly configured, service is available, and that flight mode is turned off before trying again."
and my connection is dropped.  I'm positive Flight Mode is not active and I see a network with a single strength bar under my wireless manager, so it almost certainly is the 3rd possibility of configuration problems.  As I test I connected to sereral sites, including Yahoo and Google, but neither test yields access.  Are there basic settings that my phone requires to be entered for this function?

You can create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.
You can right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean pref.
    Name: network.manage-offline-status<br />
    Value: false
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Skype silently goes offline / How can I get qualif...

After some time of inactivity Skype goes offline without any notification to me (skype status changes from invisible to offline, but I am not logged off).
As a result, I am not getting incomming messages until I notice that Skype is offline and change it back to invisible.
Any suggestion how to stop this unwanted behavior?
    Also:
I have contacted 4 times "Text chat support" about this issue.
The first manager suggested that I reinstall Skype and assured me that this will solve the problem.
The second manager suggested that I delete %appdata%\Skype folder, lost my history and assured me that this will solve the problem.
The third manager suggested that I delete %appdata%\Skype\<account>\config.xml file and assured me that this will solve the problem. I objected that I have already tried to delete the whole %appdata%\Skype folder and it did not help. So, how can deleting one file in %appdata%\Skype folder help? However, it seems to be beyond the manager's understanding.
The furth manager suggested that I reinstall Skype again and that I send "/remotelogout" command. He assured me that this will surely help, though did not explain how.
Now the question: how can I get qualified support?
    Also:
Is it possible that somebody logs into my account from other place and this switches my Skype to offline?
Should I see some notification if somebody does this?

  • HP Envy 120 goes offline for no known reason, WiFi connection appears good

HP Envy 120 installed on WiFi network with Linksys EA-6500 router / WPA-PSK, working fine for several months.
Now, I can print a few pages, but then the I get a "printer offline" message even though it is still connected.
I verified IP address (fixed) and verified that I have the latest drivers via HP Update on the PC and automatic updates directly on the printer.
When this problem happens, I have found that by turning WiFi off, then on again, printing resumes for a while.
I have verified that the auto-off setting is OFF.
Athe configuration tests come up clean. Signal strength is 5 and I have no reason to suspect that is an issue. I am not sure this is relevant, but the "disconnect count" shows 5 in the past 24 hours, with 612 total.
Sofware environment is Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell XPS-8500, but no reason to suspect this setup as the previous Envy 112 worked flawlessly before it was moved elsewhere.

Looks like you have done item 2, but you need to verify item 1.
These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and make your router secure and hack proof.
    1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers.  Verify your DHCP range and change this
        first if needed.
    2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer
        Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)
    3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
    5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
    6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your
system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
    7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.
    9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

  • Iphone 5c can't keep internet connection

    Hi everyone,
I recently opened a new internet account to my service provider in Switzerland.
I am having troubles with my iphone 5c: for some reason when I am in my room it cannot keep the connection and looses it all the time. I need to go back to the living room to re-establish it and if I leave to my room again it looses it.
The distance between the router and my bed is around 5m and I have 2 walls that separate both points (my kitchen corridor is in the middle).
My 2007 macbook pro can keep the connection perfect and so can my iphone 3Gs from 2010. Does anyone know why would my most recent iphone not be able to do this? I do not think it is a problem of wifi strength since both iphone 3 and mbp are on the 5GHz frequency.
Moreover, I used to have another router (prior to changing to my new internet account) from the same provider and the iphone 5c had no problem keeping the connection.
I tried playing with the channels to see if it would do something but nothing conclusive.
Anyone has an idea why would this happen? this would help a lot!
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

For those interested this solved my problem: I changed the name of my wifi. Turns out the name I had by default was the name of my router (which is the router's model). In my building around 3 different wifis had the same name which I'm guessing confused the iphone. Now that my wifi has its own name the iphone has no more problem!
    Hope this will help some!
    Cheers

  • Can not keep a connection using Wi-Fi or 4G mobile.

No matter what I use either Wi-Fi or Mobile connection I get booted every few minutes. More like having a 2 G network instead of 4. Any suggestions?

Hey there, Jewelster! I regret that your Ellipsis is having such difficulty keeping a wireless connection. You've described it as being 'booted'. Can you share some additional details? I'd like to help! When this 'booting' occurs, are you just losing connection or do you see an error message as well? If there's a message, what does it say? Does the device reconnect on its own or do you have to do something to force it? If it reconnects on its own, how long does it take to re-establish connection? Are you streaming video and / or audio at the time this occurs?

  • Printer 'offline' when actually not on wireless connection laptop

I have an Officejet Pro L7590, connected via a wired connection to my Linksys router.
My laptop runs Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium and is wireless connected to my router.
When I double-click the printer in 'Devices and Printers'. It shows 'printer offline'
When I print a document it goes to the queue, but doesn't printer.
I have already tried the following:
    . re-install the printer
. install the printer as local printer, with as port the IP address of the printer
. install the printer as networkprinter
. run the Diagnostic tools provided by HP
    But still the same problem.
When I connect my laptop via a wired connection to my router (without changing anything to me printer settings) the printer is 'online' and works fine.
How can I make the printer work when my laptop has a wireless connection?

    Hi there,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Time Capsule Can't Identify Wireless Connection

So, I have a brand new MacBook Pro and I have a Time Capsule that I am trying to set up. I attempted without the Ethernet cord to begin with, but the amber light continued to blink so I looked in the instructions to see that I should use and ethernet cord, but the AirPort doesn't recognize my apartments wireless connection with or without the cord. What can I do? I am a new Mac user and don't know if I did something wrong or not, Please help me!

OK, let us start over. When you originally stated "my apartments wireless connection" I assumed wrongly that this was a wireless service provided by your apartment management. However it appears from your other posts that you have a wireless router which is creating this wireless network for yourself. That makes it easier.
Disconnect and power off the Time Capsule.
Is your Time Capsule going to be physically located near the wireless router or did you want it located elsewhere?
If the Time Capsule is going to be physically located near the wireless router, connect the Time Capsule to the wireless router via Ethernet.
Do a hard reset of the Time Capsule. You can refer to Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ.
On your MacBook Pro, use AirPort Utility to wirelessly configure the Time Capsule:
If the Time Capsule is not going to be physically located near the wireless router, you will configure the Time Capsule to wirelessly join the network provided by the wireless router.
If the Time Capsule is going to be physically located near the wireless router, you will configure the Time Capsule to act as a bridge (not sharing an IP address).
Please let me know if you have problems with any of those steps.

  • Can't establish wireless connection between the printer and computer.

I recently upgraded my wireless to an Apple AirPort Time Capsule. I'm able to set up the printer via USB cable. And I'm able to set up the printer on the network via the Airport WPA utility. However I cannot establish a wireless connection between the computer and the printer. When I go to the printers window  in my system prefereces, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. Only the USB version printer is listed and of course when I disconnect the USB cable it shows as offline.I've tried all the fixes on HP's support pages. I've tried reinstalling the printer on both the router and the computer numerous times. The only thing I haven't done is reinstall the printer using the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download). And when I reset the printer to factory settings, then connect it to the computer via the USB, there is no installation software that pops up. Cant even find the **bleep** thing in "Finder". (I'm assuming that it should show up as some sort of external device.) I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network. (sometimes my computer will grab a connection with the next nearest network.) I've checked all the settings for the printer via the HTML configuration utility. I've even updated my Macbook software and restarted it multiple times. Note: the printer actually worked for a bit when I first switched routers, but the printer's wireless function went offline several times and then quit  altogether. Really frustrated that I bought another HP product thinking this time things would be different. HP is no help unless you want to pay $$ for a phone call. I'm about ready to take this thing out in the desert to use for target practice and never buy another HP product ever again.

Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with your LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer not showing on your Macintosh computer. I may have found some resources for you.
I have a few questions for you, so I can offer some additional assistance:Before you upgraded to the Apple AirPort Time Capsule, was the printer working wirelessly without any issues?
When you say; 'I reset the printer to factory settings', how where you trying to do this?
I found some instructions from this post: How do I reset my Laserjet p1102w to its defaults, copied here for you:
To restore the printer back to factory settings, turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and the cancel button (x button) then turn the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise. (When they say turn the printer off, I think they mean unplug the power cable.)
"I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network."  Do you know if you are able to access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)?To access the EWS - Make sure that the Ready light () is on and that the printer is idle and silent.Press and hold the Cancel button (), and release it when the Ready light () begins blinking. The configuration page prints.Type the IP address or host name of the product in the address field of a supported Web browser, and then press Enter on your keyboardLet me know if this page loads
To answer a few more items you have listed:... When I go to the printers window in my system preferences, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. This could be an issue with your print system, I recommend resetting the printing system and then Repair Disk Permissions - after that try to add the printer again.
... the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download)HP provides their software/drivers to Apple to be released through your Apple software updates. You can review this document on how to Install a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update. Which leads into your next point...
... there is no installation software that pops upWhen you connect the USB cable your mac may still recognize the printer software as being already installed - check for apple updatesOn the Mac, click the Apple menu (), and then click Software Update, or click About this Mac, and then click Software Update. A list of available updates displays.
... Not seeing the printer in "Finder" From what I understand most printers will not show in Finder unless you install a memory card into a supported port on certain printer models, only then will it read it like an external device. A few more things you can check are that the new settings in the Apple AirPort Time Capsule are setup to allow the printer to communicate. There are several of these settings listed in this document; Tips and Workarounds for Common Wireless Network Printer Issues.  HP regularly releases firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. You can click on this link to Getting Printer Updates for HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer.  I did find 2 more documents that may offer some additional information as well;HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer - Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless NetworkAn 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or the details of what happened.  I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully with good news!   Thanks,

  • Keeping wireless connection active on logout

    Hi
If you want to use AdmitMac on a MacbookAir with only wireless how can you keep the wireless network active when you log out. It seems when you logout the wireless (WPA2 Enterprise) disconnects. And then at the login prompt you cannot use AD credentials since there is no network to connect to AD.
Has anyone found a workaround for this?
    Larry

    Larry,
We did some testing to be sure this works, and it does. We're currently testing with builds later than the current release. What version of ADmitMac are you using? You can contact me directly if you'd like.
