HP Care Package = Fraud

I purchased a HP Care package to include in home repair in 3 days, and after talking to 5 different people at HP they are saying that the in home portions of the warranty is "not really" in home and I have to send the laptop in.
This is FRAUD and a complete lie to me... be warned, IN HOME means the send you a box for you to package it up and send it in to them.
What a waste of money and time... next time (this is my 3rd laptop) I will be sure to take my business to someone else, and some place that Meg Whitman does not run.

 I bought a 3 year Premium, "Front of the Queue, North America based Technical Support, 3 day in home technical support, lojack, etc part # U0H98A.  When I called the HP Home and Home Office store they stated that this was the best warranty because it gave me "Front of the Queue, North America based Technical Support.  I looked it up on the web and this is the first item mentioned under "Features."  I had a problem with my laptop and tried getting the Front of the Queue, North America based Technical Support.  I spent a day and a half calling HP phone numbers and being transferred so many times and everyone said the same thing.  That there is only the one number for technical support that is routed all over the world.  When I spoke to a technician about the Blue Screen of Death I was having that stated that "The BIOS is not ACPI Compliant" and would not  boot past this screen, I learned that I had to ship my laptop to HP because the Motherboard had failed and they do not do this at your home as they don't have anyone trained to make this repair at your home. So, I don't know how long that I will be without my laptop.  I work for an organization of 65,000 employees in IT for 22 + years.  I can tell you that other manufacturers replace the motherboard at your home or job site.
I have since spoke to a Case Manager who stated that there is not a number for North America based Technical Support.  I told him I believe that this is fraudulent advertising and requested a refund of the laptop and warranty.  He refused to refund my laptop but told me to call another number to see about the warranty since it has been less than 21 days since I bought it.  I told him that this was an unnacceptable resolution.

    I newly installed Windows 7 onto my computer which till now I've used a GNU/Linux server, and I've come on a roadblock, that is the internal sound was disabled (and perhaps other things I as a end-user am not aware of), which works with the stock BIOS. Because of the lack of documentation I can't be sure to find what option that enables the sound device, and such I have a new request: the factory defaults of the old bios to be patched over to the new one or something in that direction so that what should be enabled by default, is.
    Like last time, if there's any newer revisions of the firmwares (BIOS,EC,ME) I would not mind getting that patched up as well (same customization applies). And for your support, there might be another donation waiting for you in the end.

  • HP Care Package - 93 days with no laptop or working

    After 6 days of trying to get in contact with my case manager and talking with at least 4-5 who at least 3 left messages for her each day? other case managers telling me she's busy and were MUCH Freindlier to me, She tells me she's gonna have to call me again later, and that it'll take up to a week+ to get this straightened out, and from our talk i am not gonna be happy with her solution at all.
    ANY way at all i can get a new case manager or someone who will actually get this done quick.
    My 3+ times sending my laptop to HP, you guys have broken more then fixed it, putting the wrong montior on my laptop,Webcam, Keyboard, Mic, WIFI, for things you have broken, and having it at the repair place for 3 weeks, 2-3 weeks, and 2 weeks, with one time taking 2-3 weeks before i got a call back promised i was promised and had to call you guys repeatly, to be told i'd get a call back after you did not do it, just to be told i'd get a box, because the guy on HP assistence wouldnt do it because he found me to be a moron or something and did not believe i had gotten the wrong/broken laptop parts. With the 1-day shipping usally taking 4-6 days each way, and driving over 250miles total for the trips to get to the closes fedex dropoff, because i want to get this resolved that much quicker.

    I just want to get this resolved, the time has been extremely unreasonable, The customer service and my case manager has given me the run around repeatly,

    I got a call today but from monica, same for emails.
    She told me to pick one of her two offers or i'll be waiting a week to hear the next one.
    Offers me a upgraded laptop but without the one thing i needed, then downgrades everything and offers me one with a downgraded one of what i asked, and tells me i have to pick or wait a week, for another similar offer.
    I'm already going to have to pay 150$+ for a new warrenty even though my previous one i only had 3 months and she wont adknowdge my question about that when i asked. My laptop was NEVER FIXED even once! Only broken more each time it was sent back to me after 3 months, Only having it the times it took you forever to adknowledge or contact me after being a week late a few times to just send me a box to send it back and spending 40$+ in gas to go to the fedex place, and Days wasted at home putting my stuff i needed to do out and about on hold if i wanted my laptop, Hours on the phone, and messing up my last 3 months for things i've needed to do with it, taking much longer on a inferior laptop that i've had to borrow. 
    As a company, I hope your normal practice is not to delay, not call back, lie to, waste costumers time and money, take unreasonably long times to get something done, and try to strong arm someone because they need a laptop ASAP and most wont take the time to deal with it and accept what ever crappy offer is delt them to get it back in a quickly and timely manner.
    97+ days and counting now.
    Most days I did not get a call back even when promised, was given the run around that took 2+ hours and 7 transfers, just to be told to call her back from monica the first time she called me.
    One week just to get 2 offers back from monica about a laptop replacement, with at least 6 calls  over 4 days to even get in contact with her the first time.
    Is my money(gas,having to get someone to take care of stuff for me since i was having to wait to sign for a package each time to get it back broken or wrong),
    time  not doing things i needed to do,
    EXTREME inconvenience (Having to message you guys here, on facebook and other places, finding your information, Looking up information about what i can do, how close you guys are coming to fruad  or other things, and who to buy for future products instead of you and how to spread the word if this isnt fixed for 3 months now)
    Trying to be strongarmed into making a choice that is in no way acceptable, offering me a much better laptop but taking that way because i needed 1 thing changed, after ALL OF THIS TROUBLE! and being told i'd have to wait a week if i dont choose today after already waiting all this time, and being impossible to contact her for 4 days befor she would call me back after sending me on a wild goose chase(Check her log for the messages i've had other case managers leave and then one nice guy at HP who was a case manager, went above and beyond his job and contacted her in person the next morning when she got in to get her to actually call me, If i can i'd like to give reps+ or whatever i can to that employee, He was the one on monday  i think that left a message for her on her pc as well i believe, would be the only male that i contacted i think at that time), and being told no one else can help me whenever i call but my case manager that ignores me most of the time and talks to me like i'm no one, just someone bothering her.

  • Apple Care transfer to replacement iPad

    I was wondering if someone could help me with this question?
    I recieved the iPad 3. This had a screen issue so I contacted Apple, and chose the Express Product Replacment. The advisor told me it carries a £29 fee but if I decided to take out the Apple Care package, then it would be free. I decided to pay the £69 for the Apple Care Plan.
    Now on the Apple Care Protection Plan Certificate email that I received it shows the serial number for the faulty iPad that I returned. I was wondering, will I need to contact Apple to get the serial number altered to the serial number for the replacement iPad?

    Been having some problems with my ipod so I decided to renew my original warranty by buying the apple care package in order to eventually send in my ipod for repair. Anyways, I just got the apple care package in the mail and was about to enroll it on the website but after I enter my ipod serial number it says that my ipods warranty is gone and I cannot procede. any ideas?

    It' possible that the G4 version will in fact work
    with the Intel Mini -- as far as support from Apple
    is concerned. (You'd have to call Apple to find
    out.)
    Where the packages must differ is that the included
    repair CD/DVD for the G4 will not be able to boot and

    I bought my MacBook Pro almost a year ago.
    Now, I've decided I want to purchase the Apple Care package.
    If I'm not mistaken - since it's been less than a year I can get a chepaer price for the Apple Care.
    I might be mistaken and if more than a year passes I don't pay more for Apple Care - but I just can't buy it...

    No, you don't get a reduced price for waiting.
    You can, however, shop around. Amazon and B&H and other sites usually have AppleCare available at a discount from what Apple directly charges.

    The more expensive plan is for the 15" and 17" MBP models. The less expensive plan is for MacBook, MacBook Air, and 13" MacBook Pro models.

  • Apple care program

    Reading the AppleCare + for IPhone Terms and Conditions it says only valid in US Continental 50 states. Purchased the 2 year Care package in the US, as a gift for a NEW IPhone "Unlocked" that will be used in Europe. Is this AppleCare + Program not going to apply? The guy in Apple store thought it was World Wide coverage. What is true? Please respond as if this is not covered then I will request my money back for this AppleCare + Program.
    Help. What does that sentence really mean, "VALID in US CONTIENTAL 50 STATES". Or is this booklet written for the US, really needs updateing?

    The statement is correct as given; AppleCare will not apply. As RG said, the warranty and service coverage on an iPhone, whether under the original factory warranty or under an AppleCare extended coverage plan, is restricted to the country in which the iPhone was sold except in the case of the EU which is considered on country for warranty/service purposes. An iPhone sold in the US will be serviced only in the US, whether or not it's covered by an AppleCare plan.
    If you have the option of returning the iPhone and getting a refund on the AppleCare plan, I'd suggest you do so, then buy an iPhone in the country in which your intended recipient resides.

  • Is my time capsule covered by apple care?

    I purchased a Time Capsule last October on the same day that I bought a MacBook Air. I bought the Apple Care for the MacBook Air that day also and I was wondering if that Apple Care also covers my Time Capsule. I vaguely recall reading somewhere online that it does but I can't find anymore information about it. I am concerned because in my apple support profile it says that my coverage for the MacBook Air is good until 2014 , BUT it says it's only until Oct. 5 (2012) for the Time Capsule!!! If it's not covered by my MacBook's Apple Care, can I buy Apple Care for the Time Capsule before Oct. 5? I've never heard of that but I don't really understand how it all works. Anyone know?
    Also, what kind of proof do I need for any of this to make sure I'm covered? I was never given an Apple Care package (you know the little box) at the Apple Store. The salesman just said they enrolled me and don't worry about it.

    Apple care covers the TC.. you will need to show a purchase receipt for the time of purchase but it is covered. The applecare is on the computer.. you cannot buy separate cover for TC.. but if it breaks the TC is a peripheral covered by the warranty.
    As for not having the paperwork.. if the receipt shows you purchased applecare and the number was recorded to the serial number of the Air.. which it does, since when you check the cover is until Oct 2014.. you should be fine.

  • Looking for a better design: how to populate db result to object with lists

    I have a query that returns from the db an arrayList of class CarBean:
    carID, model, color, rentUserID, fname, lname, dateRentStart, dateRentEndThe query is with reference to a particular car that N people (rentUserID) rented and the user (the system user) wish to know how many rentals were made for this carID.
    I wish to populate the result into ONE class name CarRental which looks like this:
    private Car; //model
    private List<RentUser> rentals; //all info relating to rentUserso, my question is this, what creative way (Design Pattern, maybe?) is there to populate all the objects (CarBean) from the arrayList into CarRental?
    In my solution I'm doing something like this:
    Iterator<CarBean> itr = list.iterator();
    CarRental carRental = new CarRental();
    List rentals = new ArrayList();
    while (itr.hasNext())
        CarBean cb = itr.next();
        carRental.setCarID(cb.getCarID);
        //for the list of users:

    carRental.setRentals(rentals);* please consider a more complicated query that the end result of ONE object should have X arrayList and other M objects in it

    Just to make sure I understand, here's a simple version of your question. Please correct anything I have wrong.
    Your design will have two classes: Car and Renter. A Renter is a Person who rents a Car on a given day:

    }It sounds like you want to have a one-to-many relationship between Car and Renter. I think you have a couple of choices:
    You can embed a List<Renter> as a data member inside the Car class, or
    You can encapsulate the relationship between a Car and a Renter in a separate class like a Contract.
    I kinda like the second option because it reifies a nice concept.
    As far as the database goes, I'd recommend following an idiom from Spring- their RowMapper interface:
    package persistence;
    public interface RowMapper
        Object map(ResultSet rs);
    }Encapsulate the mapping from ResultSets to Objects that way.
    Or use Hibernate, TopLink, or another ORM tool.

    consoles. Right now, we have all secondary weapons being available and most of
    those weapons are pistols. But it's not specfically limited to pistols. Don't fret
    tho. Most launchers need a lock on making them not so great vs infantry.

    perk in Call of Duty Black Ops.

    you can do exclusions. So as long as we have a playlist with mixed modes,
    you'll be able to customize from their. For example: Ditching a map you don't
    want in rotation.

    competitive and it probably wont be competitive until mod tools are out. So
    what time do you think mod tools will be released?
    6:33 PM DanBu: No ETA on mod tools release yet. The game will ship with
    highly competitive modes like hardcore, barebones, and any number of custom
    game modes that you create in the Custom Games editor. You've also got Wager Match
    which is crazy intense! Most competitive I've felt playing a game in years.

    a full-time job of monitoring all of the games you guys play. They also review
    the stats for cheaters reported by the game and cheaters reported by other
    players. There are all sorts of secret magical things happening behind the
    scenes to track cheaters.

    weapons instead of secondaries so you have to give up any hope of winning a mid
    or long range battle.
    6:38 PM Linage: In the FAQ thread on the forums in the PC section it
    said the Max players have not been finalized but that was some time ago. Is
    there now an answer to the Max amount of players we can have in Ranked and
    unranked servers on PC?
    6:38 PM DanBu: Hello Linage... It's true they are deadly at close range
    for sure. But that doesn't mean you can't win if you have an assault rifle or
    smg. Current player counts are set to 18 players max on ranked and 24 on
    unranked, but these numbers are always tunable post-launch. We'll be
    aggressively supporting the title post-launch. Remember they often have far
    less ammo or they have the rechamber time. Also, shotguns have fewer
    attachments than other weapons available to them.

    called Flak Jacket. It protects you from explosive damage. I roll with this
    perk all the time to frustrate noob tubers.

    grenade delay to the beginning of every match to reduce noob tube spam. I love
    the Masterkey as well. But, hey, balance trumps my love. So even if people fire
    them, they won't detonate for the first 5-10 seconds depending on the size of
    the map. At this point, if you have Masterkey, Flamethrower, or Grenade
    Launcher, you are carrying A LOT of Firepower. We did it for balance reasons.

    7:10 PM DavidVo: I think people are going to be blow away by the things we've done with Private Match in this game. Let me give you some examples. You can make up to 10 classes loaded out with what you want and only what you want and then the players of your game will pick between those load outs. You can customize what killstreaks are in your game mode variant. Dan and I like to player Pistols + Shotguns only. In Nuketown. Of course, I win.  Always.

    7:16 PM DavidVo: Two forms of co-op in Black Ops. Combat Training (play vs Practice Dummies) and Zombies (play with your friends). Both are games where you fight AI Campaign co-op wasn't something we decided to persue because it didn't make sense for the type of story we were trying to tell.

    7:18 PM DavidVo: I heart Donovanmill. We actually totally ditched the old leaderboard systems and started over. In Black Ops, we use a Score per minute Average on weekly, monthly, and all-time leaderboards. This has a lot of advantages because it doesn't reward just the players who play a lot, but those who play the best. You can still check all those stats that were in the old leaderboards in something new we have called the Combat Record. It's an in-game stats viewer.  You'll dig it.
    7:20 PM Glorin: Do headshots matter, particularly with the more powerful assault rifles? In mw2 stopping power created a situation where many guns killed in two hits regardless of whether or not you aimed for the head. Since BO does not have stopping power, do any of the full auto weapons have damage that is this high?
    7:21 PM DavidVo: We certainly have a hit multiplier for the head. So, it matters. But since we don't have Stopping Power so most guns are 3-5 shots. Only less if a headshot. One final point. A headshot is NOT ALWAYS a one shot kill. But it does matter. A lot.

In the end, I am happy with putting Deep Impact as a Perk instead of an attachment. It made more sense for how our perks worked. The total number and what we were trying to do with them.

Really glad you asked that question because it's not something that we've talked much about.  When you create a Custom Game, you have the ability to save it to your own personal File Share. Once it's in your File Share, anyone in the community can search for it and place it in their File Share as well. Your friends will be able to look at your File Share as well. Things other than Custom Games that go into your File Share: Films, Clips, & Screenshots.

And, I'm positive we will find a way to re-imagine it in a way that makes sense for whatever game we do.

    7:42 PM DanBu: No, you cannot record other players' voice chat in your Films, unfortunately.  There were too many privacy concerns, and even if we wanted to do it, there is no technical way to pull it off on the consoles yet.

  • Hard Drive and Warranty Voids

    I am going to be trading my personal mac for another for personal reasons. One thing that I want in the trade with this other fellow I am dealing with, is assured AppleCare.
    The offer is a 2011 13" Macbook Pro, but has had some changes. This person has personally placed in new RAM much like I did on my personal computer. But in addition to this, he had a client give him an older 2010 MBP with a SSD hard drive. This fellow took out his stock hard drive and replaced it with the older SSD.
    Does the RAM and SSD replacement fall out of the AppleCare warranty? Or will AppleCare still be available to it, just not for those parts that have been replaced?

    Only parts that originally came with the unit and only those that were installed by Apple at time of order/purchase are covered under any type of warranty. Normal or Extended Apple Care warranties.
    So no the parts that were changed, by you or anyone else, are not covered under any warranty.
    As far as I know only the original buyer of, the person that registered, the unit can send it in for warranty service. In other words the warranties, normal or extended, are not transferable. (but I may be wrong on the normal 1 year warranty).
    Just why are you trading your MBP for this other persons MBP?
    If you do make this trade then what you need from the other person is the original sales receipt and the Apple Care card that comes in the Apple Care package that has the registration number on it.
    And you need to give the same to them.

  • RE: Icons/Applications not responding, possible corruption in HDD

    Hi, I'm having several problems with my sidebar and a few applications related to icons on the sidebar.
    I recently tried to access my system preferences and i'm finding that when i click on the icon on the sidebar it does not respond, i have the same problem with Adobe Bridge, Toast Titanium and Front Row.
    With regards to sys pref, i cannot even find the application in the master hdd folder window, this is causing me some concern as i purchased my macbook via a student deal and most of the software minus the audio programs <Logic Express, Reason 4 and Pro Tools 8> Disc Burning <Toast Titanium> and Media <Adobe CS4> all of which are legitimate versions purchased direct from the suppliers, were pre-installed.
    My question is twofold.
    If i have to do a re-install of 0sX and i do not have the physical copy of the software disc, will my apple care package extend to a free re-install? I paid for the 5 year package <to my knowledge> so i am hoping that this could be the case.
    If i need to re-install the individual SW how can i ensure that the problem does not occur again. As i need to use Toast on a frequent basis and sys pref to change certain settings i would like to be sure that this won't happen again during a session or ever again.
    While i'm asking questions i may as well ask if there is anyway to pinpoint where the problem lies, after growing up on speccing and programming PC based systems the transition to Apple has been quite pleasant although i need to troll through the OSX troubleshooting forums to understand how i might be able to open the system portal to run some debugging programs. If anyone can point me to the right area of the forums and perhaps suggest some debug programs for OSX it would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
    You don't say who your student deal was with. When Apple preloads optional software on a new system, it provides disks so the software can be reloaded. You should have the original OS X disks for your system, plus disks for any installed software. Applecare is a 2 year extended warranty on top of the standard 1 year warranty, for a total of 3 years, same in Australia as the US. If you think you have 5 years of coverage, you should find documentation to support that, and read the terms and conditions.
    On the original OS X disks that should have come with your system, there is an Apple Hardware Test which is a good tool for testing the hardware. In the US, Apple provides TechTool Deluxe with the Applecare agreement - don't know if they also do that in Australia. TechTool Pro is another tool, more powerful than TechTool Deluxe, to examine your system.
    You can run some preventative maintenance too. I use OnyX periodically to keep disk files in good shape. It's available from http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english/apps.html
