HP Color Laserjet 2500 colors problem

Helloo!
I have a problem with my HP Color Laserjet 2500. I use Windows 7 proffesional 32-bit computer. Installed driver from hp support, because the CD that came with the printer, is only for XP/ 2000 /ME etc. I tried both, the PC5 and PC6 driver, always the same problem.
I can print, but i have one problem, and few questions.
Problem: Sometimes it prints only yellow color, sometimes only magneta. Sometimes it combines blue and magneta, and leaves black and yellow out. And sometimes, it prints all the colors. I could say, that almoust 50% of the times, it prints normally. When it does not, it prints like i desicribed above, in all different possibilities, sometimes doesn't print yellow, magneta, blue or black. Sometimes it doesn't print two colors, rearly prints only 1 color, and even more rearly (happened about 2-3 times) it doesn't print anything. It has been a problem for years since i attached it to the Win7 computer, but at first it worked great. Then sometimes it messed up 1 document in a while, then 2, then 3 in a week. But now it's bit more than 50% of the documents that it messes up.
Quesion 1: It appears, that when i choose Printing Preferences in the computer, it displays some different language, i think it's arabic!? Written from right to left. How can i change that?
Qouestion 2: I can't find my products serial number. When i print out the configuration page, it says Printer Serial Number: CNHDD06356, but when i post it in the HP Chat Support, it gives me error. What am i supposed to do?
If you solve my problem, i will buy you a beer when we meet!
PS. What i've tried:
Cold reset.
Different drivers.
New USB wire from printer to computer.
All cartridges have over 40% ink in them. Black 44, cyan 97, magneta 76 and yellow 97%.
Imaging drum is practically new, shows 93%.
Cleaned the printer inside.
Added a bit WD40 to moving parts.
Now i'm hoping you can help me..
This question was solved.

Hello again!
I SOLVED IT !
Who ever, when ever will have the same issue, here's how i fixed it (sorry for my not so correct english):
I googeled around a bit more, and found a topic in some forum:
http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/68382
http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/63372#1
And then i saw a video in here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BoxmagIjhg
What i did:
Took the printer apart. All the plastic covers. I think i only had to take 2 screws out, to cet the covers. I only didn't take down the cover where you can put paper in, i didn't need to.
The cover where you put colors inside was tricki. The lid communicates with other pinions, so you'll have to remove it. To remove it, there is this little black pinion inside the printer. In the center of the pinion, there is a buttonish thing, you'll have to push it to the side ways, from center to edge to remove the pinion and then you'll be able to remove the top plastic cover.
Then i did as it's shown in the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BoxmagIjhg
You'll have to clean this "solenoid" thing. I used a little knife to scratch off the clue from both pieces. There was supposed to be a felt, but mine didn't have it anymore, and THAT was wat was caousing it.
IMPORTANT: My felt from the solenoid was cone, so i replaced it with masking tape. I  cut a little strips out off of a masking tape and clued/wrapped it around the solenoid. It is recommended though, that you clue a little felt back in there, but i didn't have it, so i used masking tape.
Then i put all the pieces back together and it worked !
You cant believe my happiness, when it started to print every paper correctly. I had this problem for a while,  and unbelievably this worked.
If you have the same problem, i hope this trick will solve yours too.

Futher information on the printing problem. The GIMP driver works. It is available at http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/pSupportedPrinters.php3. This may be the answer for some folks with Inkjets or non-color LaserJets. It does not solve my problem because the GIMP driver only provides black and white support. No color.
Anyone know of an alternative driver that supports color?

  • HP Color LaserJet 2500 Toolbox

My HP color laserjet users manual refers to the "HP Color LaserJet 2500 Toolbox" for performing maintenance on the printer, like cleaning, etc.  However I have not been able to find this program.  Google searches bring up sites claiming to have it for downloads, but when I download I always get something else.  Search of the HP site doesn't seem to get me anywhere either.
Where do I get this program?  I would have expected it to be on my installation CD, but it does not seem to be there. I would also expect it to be on the HP site, but I cannot find it.

Hi, I am having the same problems. The original install cd does not give you the HP 2500n toolbox under Window 7. How do I find out how much toner there is left in each of the colour cartridges. The toolbox would give you detailed info on there status. I have downloaded all the available drivers, but no success. It does print ok, but this usefull tool does not seem to work. If anyone can help please leave a message. May be some techy guys who read this, may offer a few pointers. Thanks

  • Color LaserJet 2500, blue spots on print

My Color LaserJet 2500 is putting random blue spots on the pages. Looks like water drops on an inkjet printout.
I've printed the cleaning page and run it through, didn't make a difference. What's making the spots?
Here's how to do the cleaning since the Toolbox software doesn't work with Internet Explorer 8 or higher.
The original CD-ROM for the HP Color Laserjet 2500 contains "toolbox" software for checking the status of the printer, doing some basic diagnostics, updating the firmware, and running the printer's self cleaning process. (It stopped the horizontal streaking on mine!)
Problem is, the only way to get that Toolbox and status software is off an original HP CD-ROM. Only some updates for it can be downloaded from HP.
Also on the CD-ROM, uncompressed and ready to use, are the PRN files the Toolbox uses for calibration, cleaning and diagnostics, plus a couple of demo pages for wasting toner.
It's easy to use those to run the cleaning without having the Toolbox.
If the printer is connected by parallel port, enter this command from a command prompt. If your printer is on a different port number, change that part.
    copy cleaning_page.prn /B LPT1
Remove all paper from the printer then place the printed page face down in tray 1 with the arrow pointed toward the printer.
    Now enter this command.
    copy clean_mode_page.prn /B LPT1
If the printer is connected to a USB port or a LAN, you must first share the printer from the computer you'll send the cleaning commands from. If you don't share the printer, the commands will return a network path not found error.
Open a command prompt and enter this. (Change HPColorL to your printer's share name.)
    copy cleaning_page.prn /B \\127.0.0.1\HPColorL
Remove all paper from the printer then place the printed page face down in tray 1 with the arrow pointed toward the printer.
Now enter this. (Change HPColorL to your printer's share name.)
    copy clean_mode_page.prn /B \\127.0.0.1\HPColorL

  • HP Color Laserjet 2500 printer

I have a HP 2500 Color laserjet printer that will not print in color. New color cartridges, will do color for a test page, worked fine with Win XP, new HP computer with Win 7 and it will not print in color from the computer. Think I have the right drivers - PCL5 ver 5.1.1.8283 - PCL6 v. 5.1.1.8283 - ver 5.0.3 PCL 5 & 6. This is a great color printer and I just spent a lot of money for new color cartridges.

    Hello Bambi:
You can ignore those permission repair messages. Everyone gets them, and they are "informational" - to whom, I do not know. FWIW, permission repair is, IMHO, a waste of time (although I do it myself after a software update).
Try deleting the printer and then reinstalling it.
Has anything changed before the problem began?
The "ton" of firewall messages may or may not be relevant.
Unfortunately, I do not use a wireless network (mine is Ethernet). There is a rather large HP driver update that Apple released a couple of months ago.
As a further suggestion, you might post your question in the networking forum. I am not (to say the least) expert in connectivity problems, but people there have a lot of expertise.

  • HP Color Laserjet CP1518ni color alignment problem

Hi,  We bought an Hp Color Laserjet CP1518ni printer about 6 months ago,  It worked fine until recently, when the colors started printing out of alignment.  We tried calibrating and we updated the firmware to the latest one available on HP's website.  This did not help.  We contacted the supplier we bought it from, since it is still under warranty, but they told us to contact HP directly.
    What should we do now?

I have the same problem.  Very disappointed in HP

  • HP Color LaserJet CP1215 - Color printing - Page prints yellow background

Good morning --- I don't believe I have posted to this forum before, so I hope someone can help me solve this issue.
    My CP1215 color LaserJet -
    printing pref set to color-
printing a document with colored icons, etc. or color photograph
Results: the "background" or what should be the white area, is yellow - bright yellow.
If I switch printing pref to B/W, I get a black/white document or photo.  Of course, no color.
I have replaced the yellow toner cartridge (HP product) TWICE, the second one just this morning.
    There are NO error messages.
Tried running the cleaning tool; disconnect/reconnect, etc.  No luck.
I gave up trying to solve this issue 2 years ago, and have kept the pref set to black/white with no tech issues.
Now, however, I have the need to print in color, and I would really like to figure out how to correct this problem.
This printer is a monster - ~30 lbs or more, and I would rather not have to haul it to a computer shop or ship it.
If anyone out there has had this problem, please let me know how/if you were able to resolve it.  Many thanks.
    Susan - Threecats

    Hi Threecats
I understand when you print in color you are getting a yellow background.
I have included a document for troubleshooting the all yellow background printing.
Print out a configuration page from Solution eight first. This document  will provide steps for cleaning and calibrating the printer. The Print quality troubleshooting page will identify the print cartridge that is causing the issue.
Let me know the results when you compare it to the one in the document and if the background printed yellow again. Also the Print quality troubleshooting page results.
What kind of paper are you using?

  • Hp color laserjet cp1518ni color does not align???

I recently posted at the beginning of the month saying I was having problems with my hp color laserjet cp1518ni and the whole left side printing blurry.  After cleaning the rollers, running it through the cleaning mode, restoring the defaults and calibrating the colors, it miraculously worked.
But less than a month into the fix and I am once again having problems.  I have done all of the following (I have windows vista 64bit):
*updated firmware and confirmed that it is updated to most current version 20120110
    *restarted computer
*turned off printer - more than once
*disconnected printer - more than once
*restored defaults - more than once
*calibrated color - more than once
*run it through the cleaning mode - more than once
I have taken each toner cartridge out and carefully placed them back in again making sure they were firmly in place.
My husband has tried connecting it to his computer and printing it, but has gotten the same results.
I was trying to print out a job when I noticed that the color was horribly off from what was on my computer screen.  Since I was 5 prints away from needing to change the cyan cartridge, I changed it, thinking this would fix the color.  Not only did it not fix the color, but that's when the alignment problems started happening.  I am so completely frustrated.  It is ridiculous to have this kind of problems with a printer every time you try to print and I've spent the last 3 hours fighting with it.
I am absolutely, without a doubt, certain it is the printer.  I don't know what it is, with the printer, so if anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.  I just opened a 3 pack of toner (to put the cyan in) so now not only can I not use the printer, but I am out money for the other 2 toners.
The reason I know it is the printer, is because I finally I printed the same exact piece I had been printing on the hp color laserjet cp1518ni that looked horrible in both color and color alignment, onto a Canon MG6120 inkjet.  The color was exactly as it appeared on my computer screen and there were no problems with misalignment.  I just prefer to do my jobs on laserjet printing, so this is frustrating to have a large, expensive doorstop in my computer room.
    Any help is much appreciated.

I wanted to add one more thing, as I was looking through the Resolving Print Quality Issues page
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01691481&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...
I have printed out a Diagnostics Report and it's obvious that there is a problem. Under Solution #11, it tells you how to
Identify and replace the problem print cartridge
Because it allows you to print and see:
The page prints five bands of color, which are divided into four overlapping sections. By examining each section, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge.
I have done a search on my computer for:
HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series ToolboxFX and it does not come up. I am able to do everything through the printer itself (run the cleaning mode, etc), but as far as finding anything on my computer under a folder, there doesn't appear to be anything.
I'd like to be able to print out these pages so that I can see which colors are giving me problems. Is there a way to do that from the printer?
    Thank you!

  • HP Color Laserjet 4600dn fan problem

    Hello,
can anybody tell me what I can do that the loud fan which is running in idle time will shut off early? I already set power save mode to one minute, which results in switching off the backlight and dropping the total power consumption from 31.2W to 30.5W - but only after a full hour the top left fan gets switched off (and turned on again at printing - not by leaving power save mode). In that case power drops to 26.7W.

  • HP color laserjet 2600n - printing problem.

When the my HP color laser jet 2600n print a page, it is no question if this is blank or colored, the paper show 2 vertical strips constiued for more parallel very thin lines.
One strip is large about 1.2 cm at 3,5 cm from the edge; the other is large about 0.5 cm at 4 cm from the opposit edges.
The color of the bands is primarily cyan - green.
The intensity of the strips is different from any print.
    The problem is increased quickly.
The levels of any toners are about 45%.
The HP page print test for the toner cartige do not show any problem (however there are even the 2 verical strips).
The tranfer roller, after the printig proces, is no clean and present the sames strips above described.
I cleaned by a liquid soft cleaner the transfer roller and other part easily detachable and finding in this the presence of dirty then removed: any improvement.
I observe that the photosensitive drums of the cartrige toners (cyan e magenta) are not perfectly clean: it present traces of toner in corrispondence of the bands.
I think about a phenomenon of fat dirty  that has propagated from the rollerr to the drums.
Some other user has already found my problem?
Could I look for to resolve without resort to the after-sales service?
How to can eventually clean the drums?
    Sorry for my bad English.
    Thank you.

    1. take out all of the ink cartriges and look at the big black roller on the door for streaking, if streaking, clean with a lint free cloth dampened with windex (window cleaner) then close the door.
    2. let it run to initializing.
    3. open the door and look and the black roller on the door to see if you have streaking. If no streaking put one cartridge in and close the door and repeat the steps until you find what cartridge is causing the problem.
I did this and found that my cyan was creating the lines on my paper. I cleaned the cyan roller with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol and it works fine now, no more lines on the paper.
    Cheers

  • HP Color Laserjet 2605dn Strange Problem

    Hi all,
I have a strange problem going on,
Whenever I go to print through the network to my 2605dn, PDF printing takes forever. I tried switching to Gutenberg Drivers, up to 5.2.6 . Then I tried using Generic PS 5c, then it printed faster, but would not print color (only grayscale). When I use the default HP 2605DN driver, it prints slow. Does anyone know the solution to this, or an alternative printer driver I can use that will still maintain duplex, and high memory. Windows machine print fast and normally.
    Thanks.
    -Dave

PDF can contain allot of information; for instance I can print a 20 page text document in the time it takes to print some 2 page PDFs. Just as an example, I could make a PDF the size of a business card with so much detail that it takes 30 minute to print.
have you tried printing the PDF on another printer? if so, dose it take a while on that printer as well?

  • HP Color Laserjet 3600 Printing Problems with Airport Extreme & JetDirect

I have a HP Laserjet 3600n connected via ethernet cable to our Airport Extreme base station using the built-in JetDirect functionality of the printer. Prior to installing Snow Leopard we had no problems and every computer on the home network could see and print with full functionality on the printer.
After installing Snow Leopard, it took a while but I got the printer working again with the same setup. Then we had a power outage and the printer was no longer visible on the network or in the airport settings. Again it took a while but I once again got it to work. But now it seems like it keeps falling off the network and the printer itself either shows an IP address of 0.0.0.0 or another random one. The IP address should be generated by DHCP by the airport.
I don't know if this is a problem with Snow Leopard, the airport extreme, or the printer. The way I got it to work the last couple times no longer fixes the problem. Someone please help.

I don't know if this is related, but...
My MacBook Pro (Airport) has always been dicey connecting to an HP LaserJet 4000 on my wired LAN. Before Snow Leopard, I used AppleTalk rather than IP printing because it just worked.
But Snow Leopard doesn't support AppleTalk any more, so I reinstalled the printer to connect via JetDirect (which supposedly provides more features). When it works, it works fine. But very often I get a message that it can't connect to the printer. The only thing I've found that fixes the problem is power-cycling the printer, which somehow enables queued jobs to print. Needless to say, this gets old.
Is there some trick I'm missing?
