HP G60 Vista Home won't boot. 2 different errors.

hello everyone, first post here, hope i can get some help.  I have seen similar postings for my errors, but never both together. i get two different errors when trying to boot, and i'm trying to find out if anything can be done with this machine.
Again, HP G60 with Vista Home installed. The power cord was unplugged and the computer shut down incorrectly. When i plugged it back in, and then tried to turn it on,  it gets to the boot screen and then gives this error:
0xc000000f -- The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
It gives two options, to start windows normally, or to use the boot disk (recommended), which i don't have (i made one years ago when i first go the machine, but have since lost/misplaced it). If i try and start normally it will fail again and it gives the below error:
File: \Windows\system32\config\system
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
I have tried the following:
Rebooted, In the Bios screen reset setting to default values. Boot menu shows HD is there. I pressed F8 to get to the Advanced menu screen, and tried literally all the options (repair, system restore, debugging mode, safe mode, safe mode command prompt, not in that order, but after the standard stuff was getting nowhere i just tried them all) in hopes of getting something to work, but to no avail. Every time it goes to restart and then back to the error messages. Doesn't even get to the Windows loading screen.
I tried to boot Linux distro from a DVD, to see if i can then get to the system files on the main drive. but even after putting the Bios boot order to CD/DVD first, nothing happens, or boot options from the Esc menu when first starting the machine, still nothing happens. Again, in hopes of something different happening, I tried all the options in the Esc menu (the one with like 5 options, including getting to the Bios menu), but other than being able to get to bios menu, nothing else happens.
Basically, whatever option i try in the boot screens advanced options, or Esc menu options when first booting, results in the error, i can't get anywhere past the boot screen.
Additional Information:
In the past there was a version of Linux Ubuntu on the machine, which has since been deleted and the partition restored to the main drive, however , i never removed the boot screen OS selection, so it always gets to the selection screen asking to boot vista or Ubuntu. Selecting Vista will give the error, Ubuntu will of course do nothing because it doesn't exist, but not sure if this is causing an issue when rebooting for repair.
Sequence of Screens after powere up:
HP screen that you can choose Esc menu from
OS Selection screen, F8 will bring you to Advanced options.
After choosing Vista, error: 0xc000000f -- The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
After choosing any option, error: 0xc00000e9 windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing.
At this point i'm willing to forgo the files that are on the machine, if i can recover them it would be a bonus. Any ideas would be great. would a boot disk even work if it won't boot the linux distro? is there a way to do  a system recovery if the one in the advanced options is not working and giving the same error?

Yo! I have found the solution!
Listen, in advance sorry for my bad english!
If you have Windows 7 CD or USB put it in an boot inside.
Then, first step about language click next
Then, click on repair and wait
Then, unmark Windows 7 (if you dont do this it will scan and try to repair but we dont want that) and click next
Then, click on Command Promt, when command promt is open type next :
(In my case the usb was X:\, and the system partition was C:\, so i will explain for my case)
1. Navigate to X:\Windows\System32\ (you type X:\cd Windows bla bla, i hope that you know the basics in Command Prompt)
2. When you are in X:\Windows\System32\ type COPY config C:\Windows\System32
3.Restart computer and hit enter on start windows normaly
You dont need to install windows again
I hope i helped you and that you did understand me

    Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted.  I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar

  • [24" Imac, 10.5.3] Can't install Vista Home Premium on Boot Camp

I'm having problems getting Boot Camp to run Vista.
I set up a 32 GB Boot Camp partition with Boot Camp Assistant, and encountered no problems. Stuck in my full version of 32-bit Vista Home Premium (includes SP1), and then continued with the installation. iMac reboots, drive spins, and then all I'm left with is a black screen with a dos cursor blinking in the upper left corner. Doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse input. Will reboot into OS X no problem. Below is a list of the things I've tried to resolve the problem, but non have made any difference.
    * Booted from Vista DVD while holding down "c"
    * Turned off wireless Mighty Mouse & rebooted
    * Plugged MS wired mouse into keyboard & rebooted
    * Removed all attached USB and FireWire peripherals & rebooted
    * Ran Boot Camp Assistant, deleted partition, created new 32 GB partition, rebooted
    * Ran Boot Camp Assistant again, deleted partition, created 60GB partition, rebooted
    * Consulted apple.com/support/bootcamp and found nothing helpful
    * Consulted Support Discussions and could not find any threads dealing with the problem I'm experiencing
Does anyone know how to solve this pesky problem? Advice and suggestions welcome.
    Thanks,
    R

I would never go back to Vista, forums are where people ask for help. If you looked at the Leopard OS X forum you would definitely never want to upgrade or use Safari or TimeMachine or worry what the next Security Update or to iTunes harbors.
Upgrading from Vista is supported but backup first, and a clean install is always going to be best. And the same goes for even Tiger to Leopard. Also needs to be the same 32 or 64-bit, going from one to the other is not supported.
Some systems, and keyboards and such, are better supported than others. Windows 7 has support for a wide range of current hardware already.

    This is my pc specs:
Lenovo IdeaCentre K210 Intel Desktop PC - Intel Celeron Dual Core E1200 1.6GHz, 2GB DDR2, 320GB SATA II, DVDRW, Intel GMA3100, Webcam, Veriface, Flash Reader, Vista Home Premium SP1
After the latest windows update on February 12th, 2009. I woke up to my pc error beeping continously at the prompt before windows should boot up.
I have only had this lenovo pc for 5 months and it was working perfectly fine before this update. Onekey recovery is not working. I cannot get it to boot from a dvd or cd.  I tried a recovery disc, did not work. I changed the pc to boot from the dvd and that did not work.
If I have it boot normally I get the continous error beeping.
The fact that I am writing this from my 6 year old HP computer makes me rethink my recent purchase of the Lenovo brand.

If you think a windows update caused the problem; are you able to say which update caused the problem?
You could also describe the beep error more precisely before it boots into windows. Or is windows not working at all in normal or safe mode?
    Thanks

  • MacBookPro crashed while running VM Fusion and Vista now, won't boot in OX

    Hello All...
I am not sure what to do about my MacBookPro 15.4 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo that I bout in August 09. I was running Vista via VM Fusion in a separate window on my Mac desktop when the computer froze. I booted up and now I only have the option of trying to boot in Windows or try to repair via the Windows installation disc. I want to reboot back into my OSX which it normally does until now.
I tried holding the X key and only the windows partition icon came up...I am using BootCamp and the windows section partitioned per Boot Camp Assistant.
Should I just try to repair what is corrupt in the windows part of it? Why is it only booting in Windows?
I didn't boot up into Windows Vista, I used VMware Fusion to boot up separately so I wonder why is my computer trying to boot up in Windows only?
How do I force the OSX system to boot?
This is what the Windows Boot Manager is telling me:
    File: \windows\system32\config\system
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
Please help...I want to Boot in OSX, not Windows...
    thanks in advance...
    Jank

Insert the Mac OS X install disk and boot up from it by pressing and holding down the C key. Choose your language and wait for the main menu to load. In the menu bar, go to Utilities --> Disk Utility. Click it and wait for it to open. In the side bar, you should see your hard disks and partitions labelled there. Do you see your "Macintosh HD" partition?

  • EMac won't Boot - different than other problems....

    I recently salvaged an eMac G4 700mhz.
Upon powering it up it sticks on the initial load screen (gray screen with just a spinning circle)
I did a little research on these boards and decided to try a few things people mentioned.
One - startup from OSX disk (hold c with disk in drive on startup)
I tried this, when I do a screen comes up that says:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002E0FF4) : Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac4,4"
    The last line reads:
    panic: We are hanging here...
At this point the computer will do nothing further and I have to do a hard shut down via the power button.
    two - reseting the PMU
I did this, but I am a little concerned that I hit the button to many times (i don't know if there is some weird limit - like only hit it once and couldn't find anything that would validate or erase my concerns)
After resetting the PMU there was no change in the process and a power button hard shutdown was needed.
three - resetting the pram and nvram
I did both - first the pram
    PRAM
Computer would make start up ding and then restart - no change in status once startup proceeded.
    NVRAM/open firmware menu
    0 > reset-nvram
    Press Return
    0 > reset-all
    Press Return
Using the Open firmware menu. Computer would still not start up.
In all circumstances in order to power down I had to do a power button shut down.
So that is where I am now. When in the open firmware menu the system date says 1970 something...
I know how it got in this predicament. Multiple power failures from a inexperienced user shutting down their computer by turning off it's power strip.
Is there any hope I can save this thing, should I even try and what can I try next?
    Thanks for the help!!

eMac - Do-It-Yourself has instructions on replacing the PRAM battery. It's pretty straightforward, certainly way better than a first-generation iMac. (Unless the 700 MHz eMac in question is one made when the factory was unknowingly going through a batch of substandard RAM access door screws, of all things; the metal was much too soft, and the screw heads would strip upon trying to unscrew it. Using a #2 Philips head that tightly fits the screw and apply steady pressure along the screwdriver shaft should avoid that problem even with a bad screw in place.)
The grey screen suggests the System is corrupted or the hard drive directory damaged, or both. You might be able to repair the drive in single-user mode using the Unix file system check utility fsck as described in Using Disk Utility and fsck.
The kernel panic reporting no driver found suggests the OS X boot disc you tried was for a model-specific Mac other than the 700 MHz eMac; you'll need to find an nVidia graphics model eMac OS X Install disc, or a retail (black label) OS X install disc (any version from 10.2 through 10.4 should work with the 700 MHz eMac).

  • System won't boot - different kernel versions

    Hello everyone,
I have just made full system upgrade and Icant bool the system -> can't mount /boot/efi because vfat filesystem is not known.
I am using grub, I fixed it but the problem remains.
I have found out that output of 'uname -r'  shows kernel version: 3.17.3-1-ARCH and 'pacman -Q | grep linux' shows linux 3.18.2-2. What should I do to load 3.18.2-2?
I think that it is "the root" of my problem, isn't it? Can you help me please?

    Have you rebooted?
If you still cannot boot (your post is a little unclear on this), use (arch-)chroot from the live .iso and post the output of:
    # parted -l
    lsblk -f
Yes, reboot didn't help. Gonna chroot the system.

  • IPhone 5 won't boot up, error 4005 when trying to restore!

First things first - English is not my first language so please excuse the errors I make. If anything is unclear/badly explained just say so and I will do my best to try again.
I am the (right now not so) happy owner of a iPhone 5 64GB since late april. It was purchased online in the germal localization of apple store.
For a month or two everything was alright, but suddenly the phone went out and restarted - at first I panicked a bit, but after a few weeks without any problems I thought that was a one time occurrence. Then it happend again. And again. And again. Sometimes it didn't restart for over an hour. (This was especially aggravating while I travelled and all my tickets were on that phone.) This all was while iOS 6.X was still a thing.
I updated to iOS 7 as soon as it was out and it worked well for some weeks. Then it broke down again and didn't boot at all, it was looped in the process. I panicked and googled and restored it successfully via restore mode. (Against all advice from backup though.)
It worked for a while but a few days ago it broke down again. Annoyed I wanted to repeat it, but restore mode wouldn't work anymore! That "connect to iTunes" symbol won't even show up and iTunes doesn't recognize the phone.
I tried DFU mode, iTunes now connected and initiated the restore process. But while it showed "Waiting for iPhone" the phone (in DFU mode!) suddenly tried to restart over and over (logo showing and fading and showing again...). Everytime I got "Error 4005". (That seems to be a error usually occurring when a cable or an adapter is broken, so I believe that the rebooting of the phone "broke" the connection to iTunes or something?)
    What I tried so far:
    Switching cables
    Crying
    Different computers
my main computer (Win7 64 Pro), with my full iTunes library
a new account on my main computer, iTunes without a linked ID
my MacBook Air (OSX Lion) with a linked iTunes and, after reinstalling, a "blank" one
another computer with Win7 64 Pro and a virginal iTunes (this got Error 4014 the first time, after that also 4005)
    "Repaired" Apple Mobile Device Support
    Crying some more
I haven't had a phone for several days now and I'm giving up. I will contact support tomorrow.
But is there ANYONE who knows this problem? I know that the reboot loop is notorious, but that even DFU mode (and yes, I used it correctly) doesn't work? Hardware defect? (I was VERY gentle with the phone...)
Any help, information and last straws would be very much appreciated. I still hope I simply overlooked something obvious.
    Thank you!

Yesterday (April 14, 2014), my 32Gb iPhone 5S running ios 7.1 unexpectantly shutdown. After plugging it in to the MacBook that I normally sync to, iTunes told me that the iPhone was in Restore mode. After some seaching on the web, I decided to let iTunes proceed with what it claimed was the only course; a restore. It claimed that all data would be erased. I went ahead since I had a backup (old). The MacBook didn't have a copy of the most recent iOS (7.1), so it downloaded v7.1, verified it and started working with the iPhone. After a minute (roughly) the iPhone lit up, but didn't proceed past the Apple logo. iTunes eventually showed an error saying the operation was unsuccessful; ending with (4005). Apple support suggested I turn off "Find My iPhone" from iCloud. Tried that, no change in the result. I tried the restore procedure again, but this time after the restore error appeared, I dismissed the error and left the iPhone plugged in to the Mac. After a few more minutes the iPhone continued to start up! I was able to backup all data locally to my Mac, and then complete the Restore. A fresh install of iOS 7.1 and a restore from backup gave me my phone back. In summary, don't give up if you see error (4005). Hope this helps someone. And back up your phone regularly!

There were no changes made to the computer, prior to the restore the computer would boot up, however, it would freeze after the system was up and running. Restarting the computer did not help and when I tried to restore it to an earlier point it said that it was unable to complete the restore. I then tried to the factory reset, however, it gave me an error message: "Recovery Manager could not restore your computer using the factory image. Please contact HP support. Error code: 0xe0ef0003. When I tried to restart the computer afterwards, it gave an error message: "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". How do I fix this?

    Hello crossurmind.
What sorts of issues led up to the computer originally not booting? Were you getting a lot of blue screen errors?
The two items you posted from the error log seem to indicate that it is having trouble reading the hard drive and possibly the memory. After trying the restore it seems that it failed causing the boot section of the install to "not be found."
I think you should begin by using the built in tests for the hard drive and memory located in the BIOS. Follow this document to perform the hard drive test. All you'll have to do is repeat the process and select "memory" in order to perform the memory test. Make sure to post the result of both of these tests.
I will await the results; have a great day!

  • [Solved] Arch Linux won't boot, GRUB error 15

Recently I did a system upgrade with "pacman -Syu". There wasn't many updates i only saw a kernel upgrade to 3.0.1 (something like that), the update was complete and I decieded before I restarted my system i would install LibreOffice, there was another error, with that installation. There was some error with redline and raptor (I'm not 100% on the names but i know they both start with R and it was two of them). Any way it was somewhere along the lines of "redline: /usr/.... : already exists in the filesystem".
So before I continued I figured screw it, I'll restart my system and figure out what's wrong later. So I reboot, and can't get back in -_-* great. So now I have the GRUB error 15 the prompt tells me press any key to continue... and now I can only boot into my windows partition. What can I do from here? I don't want to reinstall arch, only as a last resort.

not sure what you're saying ... grub was working fine before if that's what you're asking, I've had the distro on my system for about a week before today.
to be honest I'm not even sure what is a custom kernel, from day one I just did a "pacman -S linux linux-headers", which replaced kernel26 and it's headers and from there I was golden, until today.
P.S I'm sure it was this update that did it (http://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/linux/)

  • Power Mac G4 (MDD) Won't Boot, Gives Error Screen "You need to restart..."

Hey guys, I got this Power Mac G4 (Dual 1.42GHz, 2GB Ram) from a neighbor about 3 weeks ago and it has been smooth sailing since I got it. However today my brother was using it, and got the rainbow loading mouse for a long time, nothing would open, I couldn't force quit any of the programs. So I just told him to hold the power button and restart. Well on reboot you hear the tone, then the Apple Logo appears then the screen shows up and says "You need to restart your computer..."
It happens no matter how many times I restart my computer. I've reset the RAM and the PRAM but it does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Oh man, I'm so confused now. I don't know what could have happened.
I put in my Leopard Disc (that I got with my MBP) and booted it from disc, and it said I couldn't install 10.5 because 10.4 or later couldn't be found. That *****, could it be because I was running 10.5.4 and maybe it doesn't recognize it because 10.5.4 came out after this disc was made?
Also, since there are 3 hard drives, I don't know which one I have Leopard on, it's one of the 120gbs, but since this is handed down I don't know which drive is which and I don't know how to take the hard-drives out from the bracket, is there instructions for removing/installing hard drives.
Once again, I appreciate the support, you guys really are helping me!
EDIT: I talked to the guy who gave me this computer, he said that there was a problem with the battery, he said he replaced it about a year ago. Do you think that the battery could be a culprit in this problem?

    Hi xbill,
What is the exact message you have?
So far I understand you have a corrupted windows vista with an error message mentioning a missing or corrupted somthing32 file.
Your data should not be impacted at the moment (based on what you wrote).
What you may want to do at the moment is get a windows vista home premium 64 as it may be used to recover the missing/corrupted file(s).
An external hard drive to backup your files and finally a bootable CD to allow you to start your machine to backup your files.
But the first thing we need before we go any further is the exact error message.
