HP iLO Override Switch

Hi All,
I have been using the HP iLO Online Configuration Tool to configure iLO on servers that my company supports. I have successfully configured it on many of the servers but on one particular server (Proliant ML350 G6) I am unable to save any settings and keep getting an error message which says to check a log file in C:\Program Files\HP\hponcfg but the log file doesn't give me any information.
When selecting Settings - Configure iLO I receive an error message informing me that iLO functionality has been disabled and I need to use the override switch in the server to enable it.
The server is in another city and I would prefer to not have to travel there to do this - is there any way of enabling iLO functionality without having to use the override switch?
Thanks

Hi,
you'll need the Physical access to server to enable the iLO functionality. There is no other way.
If iLO functionality is disabled, you must use the server Security Override Switch to
enable iLO. See the server documentation to locate the
Security Override Switch, and then set it to Override. Power
up the server, and then use the iLO RBSU to set iLO
Functionality to Enabled.

  • PID Override

    Hey,
    I am trying to put a boolean into manual override switch into my PID setup for a temperature control.
    In order to do this, I want to have a numerical control which is in oC on the front panel. However my heater will respond to Volts. In order to do this I have put in a mathematical formula.
    The Result of the formula, the Boolean and the output of the PID are wired into a Select VI.
    When they are wired in, I get the following Error "The Wire connects to a Polymorphic Terminal which cannot accept this data type.
    How do I make this override switch (So that the temperature can be set in oC from the front panel)
    Cheers

    MM,
    I am not sure I understand your system. It looks like you're measuring a thermocouple and you want the temperature to stay at a certain setpoint. I also see that the output of your PID VI is 0 to 100 'volts' and that you then perform a function on this before sending to your device for controlling temperature.
    You want to be able to set the temperature from front panel. From what I see, you shouldn't need a manual override; just change the value in the setpoint control. A manual override would be used if you needed to specify the temperature controlling device to operate at say 50% and not worry what the temperature was.
    Your broken wire is because the Express VIs use a Dynamic Data Type (DDT) and apparently the Selector VI does not automatically convert to this. You should be able to inset the Convert To DDT VI on the output of the PID VI to fix the broken wire. I haven't tried it, but it should work. I am just not sure that your override will work as you anticipate.

  • How to get an iPhone app to implement A2DP?

    I use a Plantronics Voyager Pro BT headset, and just found out the hard way that it doesn't support A2DP, so I cannot hear any iPhone audio on it other than phone calls. I understand that there is an app for jailbroken phones (Bluetooth Mono for iPhone) that can implement that functionality, and there is a legal app for the Droid that does the same thing.
    There must be a large market for people who'd like to do this with their BT headsets. How does one go about requesting a legal app like that? From whom?
    BC

    the problem with A2DP is that when a Headset that supports A2DP is connected to the iPhone 4 no sound come through the headset for Texts or email.
    Here is what I have found...
    I have my iPhone set to play sounds and vibrate for alerts
    I have ensured the phone is not on Silent via the side switch
    When my iPhone is connected via bluetooth to another headset that doesn't support A2DP (e.g. BlueAnt V1) the phone will sound an audible alert via the phone speakers when an email or text message is received as well as vibrate. Additionally no sound is heard through the headset.
    When my iPhone is connected via bluetooth to my new Voyager Pro+ (supports A2DP)the phone does not sound an audible alert via the phone speakers when an email or text message is received. The phone only vibrates. Also no sound is heard through the headset.
    It seems to me that the headset goes into standby and email tone is too short.
    By the time the headset responds to the sound, the sound is already over.
    I could change the text tone to something longer, but the new sounds are obnoxious and the standard tri-tone is too short.
    If there was a way to allow the iPhone's internal speakers to play sounds while on a A2DP headset (like an override switch) it would be ideal.

  • Dynamic VLAN/SSID assignment w/IPv6

    I have followed the answer in this discussion which instructs on how to get Dynamic VLAN/SSID assignments using WLCs + MS IAS:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/339396
    This works great for IPv4.  This does not appear to work for IPv6.
    I have CT2504 WLCs running v7.0.116.0 and AP 3502s.  I have a Windows 2003 IAS working for 802.1x authentication using PEAP and per-user/group dynamic VLAN/SSID assignments.  Based on who you authenticate as, you are placed on the appropriate VLAN.
    However, IPv6 does not function properly.  I believe this is due to the nature that the WLC only bridges IPv6 from the Interface Group that the WLAN is assigned to and/or whatever Multicast VLAN you assign.
    If I connect as a user assigned to the same matching VLAN as the WLAN Interface / Multicast VLAN, IPv6 works just fine.  I do not even have to have the "Enable IPv6" box checked in the Advanced tab, nor does the "Multicast Vlan Feature" need to be enabled - IPv6 still works.
    If I connect as a user that is assigned to a different VLAN than the WLAN Interface / Multicast VLAN, I see the IPv6 Router Advertisement from the WLAN Interface / Multicast VLAN, and not the VLAN that "Allow AAA Override" switched me to.  Naturally since I'm getting as IPv6 prefix for a different VLAN, when I try to route traffic through the IPv6 default gateway (which isn't on the VLAN I'm connected to), it doesn't work.
    One work-around to have IPv6 support is to use distinct, non-dynamic per VLAN/SSID assignments.  This is ugly and doesn't scale (16 max SSIDs).
    Has anyone else experienced this and know of a solution?
    For now I'll just have to set the WLAN Interface to a VLAN which does not have IPv6 enabled and my wireless users won't have IPv6 unless they VPN on top of Wifi.  Rather disappointing.

    this sounds alot like another implication of IPv6 with "more than one VLAN on the same SSID".
    see this thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2157621?tstart=60
    not with dynamic vlan, but vlan select - which, on the L2/L3 on SSID-side is essentially the same.
    as mentioned in the thread, 7.2 has a feature that "automatically sends the correct RA to the correct clients via L2  wireless unicast. By unicasting the RA, clients on the same WLAN, but a  different VLAN, do not receive the incorrect RA."
    lucky for you, 7.2 is available for the 2504 - with my WiSM1s I am out of luck :-(
    so this feature *could* solve this problem, as the problem is that the wrong IPv6-RAs are broadcasted for the client (because the SSID is the same)

  • How to create a cluster, whose elements are all scattered across the front panel?

    Hi everyone!
    I've been designing a front panel, which (I think :-)) feels pretty well when the override switches are scattered all over the screen. Anyway I'd like to process their states in a cluster. I tried pulling them in a cluster in the block diagram, which didn't do anything (actually they hid underneath the cluster). I tried bundling them, but the only way I could do so was after creating a hidden cluster on the front panel and filling it with the same number of boolean controls as I've got override switches.
    Anybody got any suggestions?
    Kindest regards,
    Severin

    Severin,
    You should be able to bundle the elements without creating a dummy cluster. You cannot use Bundle by Name without a control (or indicator), however.
    One possibility, if you need a cluster, is to make a cluster which is bigger than your front panel. Make the background transparent or the same color as the panel. The problem with this is how you handle other controls or indicators which are not part of the cluster. You could put them behnid the transparent cluster, but then you cannot operate the controls and panel updates are slowed considerably by overlapping front panel objects. You may be able to slide them in front of the cluster without embedding them into the cluster by placing them on the panel outside the cluster and using the keyboard arrows to move them. This works for some things; I have not tried it with clusters. You still have overlapping objects.

  • Ink Levels

    HP inkjet printers I have owned in the past would still continue to print even after a low ink waening. The HP Officejet 6600 I currently own indicated one cartridge low and then will no longer print. My experience with previous HP printers was that after the warning, there was sufficient ink to use the printer for weeks before copies were degraded. Is there a way to override this low ink warning and continue printing?

    Hey @DonMcG ,
    Thanks a lot for the question, now lets get you an answer!
    Unfortunately the simple answer to that is no. If the printer refuses to print and says it is out of ink, you can't do anything about that, there is no override switch.
    Sorry for the inconvenience. Have a wonderful day!

  • Upgraded CPU = Fried board? or PSU?

    I just upgraded my KT4VL board from a 1700 XP to 2400 xp cpu.  It booted right up, i changed the FSB to 133.  It ran for about 2 minutes and the speakers began broadcasting a clicking sound.  I pulled the plug and now cannot get it to boot.  Tried clearing bios, replaced old cpu, tried different PS, tried different cpu fan, pulled all hardware and reattached.  My day sucked!  Any ideas would be great.

    I'm wondering if your psu fans are coming on if they are not comming on then try this to reset the board. Tools needed is a wire with two sharp ends on them.
    Start you may not have a power override on yours thats why a wire is needed
    WARNING: Check the Power Override switch situated at the back of the machine just above the connector for the power cable. If this switch is activated (switched to on), no power will be supplied to the system.
    Power off (unplug) the system unit.
    Check the power cord for continuity. Replace if necessary.
    Check for the correct line voltage from the power outlet, and verify that the voltage selector switch (if present) is set to the correct voltage.
    Power on the system unit.

    If No, go to step 8
    1. With the system powered on and the power supply fan running, check the voltages of the power supply connectors for the system board and all drive connectors, as shown in the following figures.
    5. Are the voltages correct and does the fan run? (
    If Yes, read ahead.
    If No, go to step 8.
    The power supply is working normally.
    If you suspect the on/off switch cable assembly, see Step 2.
    If the fan continues to run when all connectors are plugged back in, go to See Undetermined Problems .
    If the fan stops running when a drive connector is plugged back in, go to Start .
    6.If you have an OHM reading when the switch is pressed and an open reading when the switch is released.Replace the on/off switch cable assembly.
    IF Yes, read ahead.
    If No, go to step 8.
    7. Replace the system board
    8. Replace the power supply
    ok now the wire thing if no fans are running with the atx power off and while still pluged in the board push one end into a orange wire and the other on a black wire hold untill the psu fan comes on. you may have two orange keep trying untill one of them works. I have done this with a few computers that people thought were dead and actually it just needed to be reset. Not many people know of this unless they went too school.

  • AppleTV 2 Wakes Itself Up From Sleep

    I have an Apple TV 2 in my living room and one also in my bedroom, since purchasing the second device and installing the latest update, both of these now randomly appear to turn themselves on, the light comes on at various times of the day/night.
    Prior to the new update when the devices were put to sleep, they stayed asleep until I woke them.
    Has anyone any idea why this is now happening?

    Looks like a lot of people have same issue. I certainly do, and yes it started after one of the recent updates, meaning Apple could fix it if they ever paid attention. It is really a pain for me because my supposed auto-sense HDMI switcher always thinks the ATV2 is on, so I can't watch cable without getting up and pushing the manual override switch on the HDMI switch. In contrast, I used a Sony Blu-Ray player in place of the ATV2 for a while and it all worked perfectly. Cable box on, HDMI switches to cable. Sony on, HDMI switches to Sony. But, I gave the Sony to my niece and am stuck with stupid ATV2 again. Thought about cancelling Comcast cable but they still want $76/month just for Internet!?!?!?!

  • Override centrally switched WLAN

    Hello.
    I need some advice on configuring a guest access for several remote sites on a 5508 WLC.
    I set up a guest WLAN which is centrally switched and authenticated. That works fine for the main location and most of the remote sites. My problem is now, that for some ( but not all ) remote sites, this WLAN has to be locally switched because of a different law situation. The access points in the remote sites are already configured as FlexConnect access points.
    Is there a way to override the central switching for some remote sites?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sven

    Sven,
    you can do this by configuring additional WLAN Profiles which contain the same SSIDs like your existing ones, but use local switching instead of central switching. You should use WLAN numbers > 16 so that the new profiles are not in the default group, then create a new ap group, configure your new profiles and add your APs.
    Let us know if you need a more detailed how-to.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Can apps override OS window-switching behavior?

    Command-` (⌘`) switches between open documents.
    In chrome, you switch between "history" of last "interacted" documents, making impossible to our brain to predict which one is coming. We can't quickly perform tasks with open documents because it's not like typing in a keyword (without watching the keys). Instead, it's attention-consuming like typing in an iPad (head-aches) because we have to "track-aim-correct" to hit keys. Not to mention that the behavior is different if you "didn't" interact with it (or an endless loop would make you switch between the 2 foremost docs over and over)
    It should be like Time machine layers, even if the graphic motion is not cloned. Not needed. Just the calculation of which window will end-up in front. (please disconnect in your brain the idea of z-index from switching-order)
    Scenario:
    5 open docs, copy something from each. i.e. 1-copy, 2-copy, 3-copy, 4-copy, 5-copy
    Ideal: ⌘`copy, ⌘`copy, ⌘`copy, ⌘`copy, ⌘`copy,
    Needed to accomplish: ⌘`copy, ⌘`⌘`copy, ⌘`⌘`⌘`copy, ⌘`⌘`⌘`⌘`copy, ⌘`⌘`⌘`⌘`⌘`copy,
    Scenario 2:
    5 open docs, switch windows to get doc #5 (doc 1 in front, doc 5 possibly 3 layers behind, not even necessarily in the last )
    Result: It DEPENDS how many times you cycled (and interacted) with others.
    Since it's a "history", working with docs 1,2 and 3, could make your ⌘`ing NEVER reach #5.
    You could get: 1,2,3,2,3,2,1,2,1,3,2,3,2,3,1,3,2,1,4,5.
    20 key-strokes (⌘`) to get Doc #5.
    Could it be Chrome's own behavior?
    I'd like to make a Feature Request but I'd like to know for sure whether this is a OS or APP behavior, before to submit it.
    Here is the longer discussion.

    (the example of the mailboxes is fairly close)

    Video achieved... I also figured out that - at least for iWork documents - the problem occurs when I click on the document title and then drag... like it can't tell if I want to move the window or activate the drop-down to duplicate/move/etc. I haven't figured out what triggers the behavior for Chrome windows, though.

  • HT201401 Is there a way to fix/override the silent switch on my iphone 4?

    The silent switch on my phone doesn't do anything anymore. Sometimes my phone will vibrate randomly for prolonged periods of time as it switches itself on and off silent mode. Any advice is welcome.

    Voicemail for the most part is handled by your cellular provider and not by your phone. The message that the caller receives is transmitted from your provider, where the message is stored, to the caller without involvement from your phone (other than the phone not answering the call because it is physically turned off, out of range, or the call is declined or unanswered). Your provider may have some options; Verizon has a feature named "Caller Dependent Greetings" but it is not available with iPhone Visual Voicemail.

  • I just switched from a PC and am installing googlemail on my macbook. it has successfully connected my calendar and contacts. But my mail is not linking. i get a unable to connect to the server message. any ideas wise ones pls

    i have just switched from a PC and installing my googlemail account onto my Macbook pro. I can successfully see my calendar and contacts but my mail will not connect. i get an error message - can not connect to the server. Any ideas please?

    Neil,
    I don't use Apple's Mail client (I use MS Outlook) but setting up your Gmail account should be fairly straightforward. Just make certain that you have your settings correct.
    For your incoming server, be sure to use the "map.gmail.com" server, using SSL, using port "993" (usually the default).
    For your outgoing server, be sure to use the "smtp.gmail.com" server, override the default port and use port "465" and use SSL to connect and make sure that you enter your email address and password to access the SMTP server.
    If you've already set up your account with these settings, you may need to Google "gmail setup apple mail" and find the Google document relating to same.
    Good luck,

  • MacBook Pro keyboard backlight not switching off

    I recently bought a 13" MacBook Pro (2012, 2.9GHz i7) and it came with Mountain Lion preinstalled. The keyboard backlight isn't behaving as I had expected: when the "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" option is checked, it does indeed adjust the brightness of the backlight when ambient light levels change. However even when the ambient light is VERY bright (desk lamp shining down) the backlight doesn't switch off; instead it just goes to full brightness. I understand that the backlight usually dims in dark conditions to save battery, but why would it go bright when the keyboard is fully visible without a backlight? Is there a way to make the keyboard backlight go off when there is plenty of background light and come on when the environment is dark?
    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Auto brightness operation usually works in the way yours is working.  It is dimmer in very low light and progressively gets brighter as the ambient light increases.  There are cases where this is actually helpful as in wierd backlighting situations.
    You can override in the System Settings and from the keyboard "function" keys.  I'm not at my MBP right now, but I think the keyboard backlighting controls are somewhere near F5 and F6.

  • How do you override global variable values when calling oraxsl or xsl.exe?

    I am a newbie to oracle xslt.
    I have down loaded the latest version of xdk (10.1.0.2...). (Jan 2, 2009).
    In the past I haveI used micorsoft's "msxsl.exe" to perform my transformations.
    I am looking for a more up-to-date transformation tool.
    I found Oracle's version, and thought I would try it out.
    I have run the "bin/xsl.exe -hh" command.
    I read its help data. It states that variables are
    passed by coding a pramater "-V <var> <value>".
    I have also examined the oraxls.bat file.
    I found the documentation on "oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxsl" class.
    It states that parameters are passed after the "-p" switch.
    It says the value of the -p parameter is "a list of paramemters".
    I don't find this sufficient information to be useful.
    I can spend days guessing, and I might get lucky.
    I thought it my be better to ask for help.
    I need to pass in (override) values for 3 global variables.
    I saw the method
    "setParam(namespace, variable, value)",
    near the documentation for the "oraxsl" class.
    How do you format the options string to communicate more than one param statement?
    (in either xsl.exe and/or oraxsl class).
    Suppose I have an xslt stylesheet as follows:
    ==================================================
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.1" xmlns:xsl='http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform' >
    <xsl:param name='a' select='"default_a"' />
    <xsl:param name='b' select='"default_b"' />
    <xsl:param name='c' select="'default_c"' />
    <xsl:template match='/'>
    this is value for a: <xsl:value-of select='$a' />
    this is value for b: <xsl:value-of select='$b' />
    this is value for c: <xsl:value-of select=$c' />
    <xsl:apply-templates />
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    ========================================================
    Now as part of the calling of the XSL processor I want to change the value of these
    three global parameters.
    I want:
    a="current_a",
    b="current_b",
    and c="current_c"
    How do I express this using xsl.exe and its paramter string (-V ????).
    and/or how do I express it to the oraxsl class ( -p (xsl, a,"current_a"), (....) )???
    The syntax for specifying this information is not very clear in either situation.
    Of course I am making the "assumption" that by "param" they are
    refering to "global parameters" (as in my stylesheet), rather than some other global parameters of XLST.
    As an aside inquiry:
    I had hopped that the Oracle's xsl Verion 2 routine could handle xslt 2.0 commands
    such as "xsl:for-each-group", since it handled multiple xsl:outputs.
    From reading some of the documentation it seems it only handles xslt 1.0 syntax/commands.
    Is this true? (or is the documentation not up-to-date?).
    Any help on passing param values to xsl.exe and/or "oraxsl" class is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Here is the line from one of my testing .bat files that passed in one parameter. I can't recall if I've passed in two, but this will give you a starting point for passing in multiple
    java -cp %CPath% oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxsl -p show_image='yes' %ValXML% %ValXSLT% As for XSLT 2.0 support, it appears it does per {thread:id=503445}

  • Switch Statement

    I am new to Java and am trying to learn how to use and understand the nuances involved in using the Switch statment.
    I am trying to write an application that will calculate grades for a student. I can use the If Then Else Control structure for this (which runs) but I would like to incorporate the Switch Statement in place of the multiple if then else structure. Here is the code that I have for the application:
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class Switchgrades
    public static void main(String args[])
    String midone; String midtwo; String quiz; String homework;
    String last;
    double one; //first midterm
    double two; //second midterm
    double three;double four; double five; //final, quiz and homework scores
    double average; //GPA
    int a; int b; double c; double d; double f;int grade;
    midone = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Please enter the first midterm"); //first score to add
    one = Double.parseDouble(midone);
    midtwo = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("please enter second midterm"); //second midterm to add
    two = Double.parseDouble(midtwo);
    last = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("please enter final exam score");//final exam score to add
    three = Double.parseDouble(last);
    quiz = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("please enter quiz score");//quiz score to add
    four = Double.parseDouble(quiz);
    homework= JOptionPane.showInputDialog("please enter homework score");//homework score to add
    five = Double.parseDouble(homework);
    average = (one + two+ three + four + five)/5; //average of all five scores
    switch (grade)
    case a: //this is where I become confused and lost. I don't what I need to do to make it run.
    {if(average >= 90)
         b = Integer.parseInt(average);
       JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"The total of all your scores is " + b+"\nYour final grade is an A");}
    / I am just using one choice to make it run. When I can make it run, I plan on incorporating the other grades.
    break;
    <=====================================================================>
    <=====================================================================>
    //else --->this is part of the if that works in another program
    // if(average >= 80 )
    // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"The total of all your scores is " + average +"\nYour final grade is a B");
    //else
    //if(average >= 70 )
    // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"The total of all your scores is " + average +"\nYour final grade is a C");
    //else
    //if(average >= 60 )
    // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"The total of all your scores is " + average +"\nYour final grade is a D");
    //else
    //if(average <= 60 )
    <=====================================================================>
    <=====================================================================>
    default:
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"Sorry, you received a grade of " + average + ". \nYou failed.");
    System.exit(0);
    As you can see, I already have all the if then else statements set up--between the <==>. The program runs with the If's but I can two error messages when I incorporate the Switch statement.
    1) constant expression required.
    I have case a and i guess it is not a constant. Again, I don't understand switch well enough to figure what I need to do to correct it.
    2)"b = Integer.parseInt(average);" - cannot resolve the symbol--whatever that means. I have a "^" pointing at the period between Integer and parseInt.
    Can anyone help explain what I have to do to make this program work using Switch.
    I have not used Switch before and don't understand what I can use as opposed to what I must use for it to work.
    Thanks for your help.

    I don't really know how you want your program going, but here is what I think.
    1) From the start of the switch statement, where do you assign the value for "grade"? If you write the switch statement like below, you meant something like, if(grade == 'a'){...}, right!? Then, where did you get the "grade" from?
    switch (grade)
    case a:
    You may want declare variable "grade" as char and place if sentence like this before the switch.
    if(average >= 90)
    grade = 'a';
    else if(average >= 70)
    grade = 'b';
    switch (grade)
    case a:
    System.out.print("Your grade: A");
    break;
    case b:
    System.out.print("Your grade: A");
