HP iPaq hx2490 problem

Hi all,
I've been trying to get my iPaq to connect to my PowerBook G4, running 10.4. It connects fine for file transfers both ways, and I can pair the two together no problem. When I try to connect with the hopes of PocketMac though, it just doesn't work. I tried installing a Bluetooth Serial port but this doesn't seem to be working. Maybe my settings are wrong here? It's getting a little frustrating - can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jay

Hi,
You're welcome
Can you upload the image of the options you get from the recovery discs again - it doesn't seem to be showing with your last post.

  • Ipaq Socket problems

    I'm running into the following problem while running a PersonalJava application on a Compaq ipaq 3600. The Java application tries to open a Socket connection to a server, then close the connection for a number of iterations
    (currently 300). However, when it reaches the iteration in the range of approximately 193-199, it throws a java.net.ConnectionException when it tries to create a new Socket. I am unable to get any Java application
    to create a new Socket after this happens, until I perform a soft reset of the ipaq. This happens every time I run the application. The server I'm currently connecting to is an apache webserver, but I have tried to connect to various servers (different host/port combinations) and the problem always occurs.
    It is occurring on both the Jeode and Sun WinCE PersonalJava beta 1.1 implementation.
    The following source code produces the problem:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class SocketTest {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    Socket s1 = null;
    PrintWriter pw = null;
    try {
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("\\socketoutput.txt");
    pw = new PrintWriter(fos, true);
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    System.exit(0);
    try {
    for (int i = 1; i < 300; i++) {
    s1 = new Socket("192.168.0.57", 80);
    pw.println("Opened socket " + i);
    pw.println("socket is " + s1.toString());
    s1.close();
    pw.println("closed socket " + i);
    try {
    Thread.sleep(600);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    e.printStackTrace(pw);
    if (s1 != null) {
    pw.println("Socket.toString(): " + s1.toString());
    pw.println("Exception message: " + e.getMessage());
    pw.close();
    System.out.println("At end");
    (Apologies for the indentation not appearing in the above code)
    The exception that is thrown when the Socket cannot be created is:
    java.net.ConnectException

         at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect (bytecode 33)

    Socket.toString(): Socket[addr=192.168.0.57/192.168.0.57,port=80,localport=1607]
    Exception message: null
    Has anyone else see anything like this? If so, is there a workaround? This is only a test application, the real-life application will involve a number of socket open/close operations during its lifetime, but this problem keeps occurring.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • PDA - Memory Leak LV 8.0.1 PDA using Slide Indicators

    I originally encountered this error when, for no obivous reason, my application would crash after a certain amount of time.  I began to write a message on this board and while I was writing it, it occured to me that this crash certainly reaked of a memory leak.  I went back to my application and added in some memory monitoring displays and sure enough there was a leak.  After about 2 hours of removing everything else that I thought could have possibly caused the error, I removed the slide indicators and low and behold ... Memory Leak gone.  The Vi speaks for itself but I would really like some NI feedback on this.  I'm using LV PDA 8.0.1 under WM5.0 on an iPAQ hx2490.  The leak also occurs with a tank indicator, any slide indicator, a control slide changed to an indicator, and a dial indicator.  It does not, however, occur with the Meter indicator or the thermometer indicator.  Thanks in advance for the feedback NI.
    If anyone else would like to verify that this is truly the case and I'm not just seeing things that would be great.

    Greycat,
    You couldn't be more right. I was able to duplicate exactly what you're seeing. There is certainly a memory leak when you have at least a slide indicator wired up on the block diagram. I'm going to file a bug report to R&D. THANK YOU so much for the code you posted that CLEARLY demonstrates the issue. I'm really sorry for the trouble and I very much appreciate the time you took to trouble shoot your code, find the problem, and even explore the problem. We really appreciate your patience.

  • Problem running multiple instances of Creme JVM on Compaq IPaq

    I have Creme JVM installed on my Compaq iPaq, along with the JVM plugin for Pocket IE registered.
    I am running a socket server program on the Creme JVM on my PDA which listens on a particular port and outputs some response.
    The client to this server is an Applet which is being run from the Pocket IE browser.
    The problem is as the server program is already running on the Creme JVM, the applet is unable to start and says "Another instance of JVM is already running".
    If i stop the server program and then start the applet, it runs fine.
    I have tried running the server program with the option "-mi" which instructs the JVM to run in multiple instance mode, but to no avail.
    Any pointers ??
    TIA
    Harish

    Ok, maybe in 3.22 it was not yet solved, if you download the latest CrEme, this should work. If not, contact NSIcom support: [email protected]

  • Problem getting a wireless connection to HP iPAQ h5455

    Problem getting a wireless connection to HP iPAQ h5455.  This unit is small hand held device simlar to a PDA.  I has both wireless and bluetooth access.
    I get a connection to the modem but I can not connect to the internet.
    I have verified the connection by ping and using the information provided on one of the h5455 status page.
    I believe the problem I can not find anywhere to enter in my user id and password to get access to my dsl account.
    Do I really need to enter in my user id and password to make a connection for the internet?
    I have 3 other computer in my home network, 2 hardwired and 1 wireless.  All of them can connect and go online with no problems.

    Hi,
    Environment :-
    IPAQ 3760
    Windows NT workstation
    Active Sync 3.5
    I am using Active Sync 3.5 which does not need RAS
    configuration on the machine.
    I am unable to run msync.exe. It does not give any errors
    messages.
    The 9i lite documentation talks about RAS settings.
    If anyone has faced similar prob coudl you please let me know
    the solution.
    regards,
    Sonal

    You do not need to make a RAS connection with Pocket PC 2002,
    because now ActiveSync itself makes an IP connection, and
    Oracle9i Lite just needs an IP connection for synchronization no
    matter how you establish it. Hi, I also experience the same problem. Using PocketPC 2002 I have a pasthru connection. Ik kan browse on the Internet with Internet Explorer, so the connections works.
    mSync just seems to do nothing. When I press the Sync button, nothing happens (not even a progress bar).
    Any idea?
    Thanks,

  • Problem connect ipaq rx3715 to wrt330n router

    I am having a problem getting my Ipaq rx3715 to connect wirelessly to my WRT330N router.  everything is ok on the Ipaq's side and when i go into the router settings it sees the pda and has given it an IP address.  but the pda still won't actually CONNECT to the network.  HELP PLEASE

    It seems that your Ipaq is connected to your Router, but you are not able to browse internet on your Ipaq. As you are getting Valid IP adress on your Ipaq from the Router, you can login to your Linksys router setup page, click on Status Tab and under status you will get WAN IP , just you need to note down the DNS1 and DNS2 Ip's and then give a Static IP i.e : 192.168.1.10, Subnet : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 and the DNS1 and DNS2, After this try going online.I think this might solve your Problem.

  • Reader 2.0 install problems for HP iPAQ Voice Messenger

    I am having no luck installing any version of Adobe reader on my phone. I am not the "IT" guy that I would like to be but have installed programs on my phone before without a glitch.
    My steps so far: downloaded Reader 2.0 for PPC 2003 to my PC. Connected my phone via ActiveSync. Double clicked on the icon and followed the instructions. My phone asks me if I want to install and I press "yes". It then tells me that this pr0ogram is not intended for this device.
    Any help or ideas?

    What is the specific IPAQ Voice Messenger model number that you have? The hw6900? Can you confirm that you have a pocket pc (touch screen) and not a smartphone (no touch screen)?
    If you have a pocket pc and have already attempted to install the software to your device with no success, you can find a .CAB file on your computer that you can copy to your pocket pc and install from there. See this link for more information about how to do this:
    http://frommypocket.pocketprimer.com/2008/01/11/adobe-reader-for-pocket-pc.aspx
    If you have a Smartphone, then you will not be able to install Adobe Reader for Pocket PC to your device.

  • Issue with hp ipaq 614c and cisco ap

    Hello. I tried to connect an ipaq 614c to a cisco ap1131 using wpa-psk tkip with no success. The ipaq connects without any problem to other access points including linksys. I've tried odysey client and I get the message: waiting for keys. The event log of the AP says: Packet to client reached max retries, removing the client. I am able to connect with other models of ipaq to the ap. Anyone know what the problem might be? I also tried disabling QOS but the result is the same.

    Is the ssid only config for 1 security policy? I had an issue one time where the SSID was config for both WPA and WPA2 and i had issues. It wasnt till i selected just a single security policy that it worked.
    You may want to try a real simple key at first. Try connecting it to an open network. Start 'unpacking' it so to speak...
    You may see more info if you go into the CLI of the controller and debug the client. Also, if you have a layer 2 analyzer (AirMagnet or Peek you may see something of interest...)

  • JSP application developed for PC does not work on IPAQ

    Hi all,
    I have developed a database/web application using JSP, Apache Tomcat, MS Access. It works great on Windows PC. Now I want to make sure that it works on PDAs also.
    I tried using an IPAQ which runs Win CE 3.0 but I get some errors while interacting with the database.
    One of the webpages in the application has a form through which the user can submit a text message and upload a file. Following are the problems that I am facing:
    1. The 'UPLOAD' button through which the user can browse his local hard drive and select a file is invisible if I am browsing with an IPAQ. I am using multipart formdata (MultipartRequest.java provided by Oreilly) for submitting a message and uploading the file. What could be the problem?
    2. If I forget about the attachment file and just try to submit a text message (which works on PCs) , I get the error message: "IOEXception: submitted data is not multipart formdata".
    I am very new to PDA application development, and any inputs will be very valuable.
    Thanks in advance.
    m_asu.

    I was wondering if anybody can give me some pointers as to how can I make an application developed for PCs work on IPaqs.
    Thanks

  • HP IPAQ C310 died in less then 20 days.

    I called Hp customer service on the 20th of July after i got back from vacation, because on my way down to my vacation place my GPS died. On my return i called HP customer service who told me I am sorry you are over the 21 days. I advised them i was on vacation, I was told that i should have called them while i was on vacation. So now that its over 21 days i cannot get my IPAQ C310 returned. I spoke to Joshua manager of customer in Philippines. explained to him that because i was on vacation i did not call but i did not make a difference to him. He told me he was going to fill out a form and have it reviewed and will call back in 2-3 days, I never heard from them till i called back. This time i asked him if i could speak to someone in America or someone above him, to take care of my problem as i did not believe he was going to solve my problem. I was told i cannot talk to anyone above him or to anyone in America. I asked why i did not get a call back as i was told by him in 2-3 days he had no answer to it. tried to talk around it. I asked him what he was doing in order for me to return the product as i no longer trust Hp products and i was told that he filled out a form again to review it and i will hear in 2-3 days. Here we go again I am sure i am not going to hear anything from him and when i call back will told thank you have a nice day. Can someone direct me or call me in reference to returning the HP junk product that they no longer make. This experience was so bad i don't believe i will ever buy an HP product in my lifetime. Lucky me I was going to buy a HP touch screen computer and a laptop and did not. If not i would have really lost a whole lot of money. I advice people never to buy HP, and we wonder why no one wants to buy these inferior American products and then get stuck with it and not get our money back when we try to return them. I am hoping someone is going to call me soon. I will keep this updated every time i talk to someone till I get my money back.
    Pls HP take your junk back and give me my money back.

  • Wireless problem - WEP password doesn't work - connection timed out

    The problems with leopard connecting to wireless networks is documented all over the forums
    But anyway, below is a solution from fred (Genius!!) it comes from
    http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-375266.html
    You have to do this through SAFARI (then for me camino worked perfectly as well)
    1. When you awaken Leopard you get the "None of your preferred networks are available" message.
    Cancel it.
    2. Ask Safari to open any page. It will, of course, hang with the message "You are not connected to the Internet."
    Click on the "Network Diagnostics..." button in the message box.
    3. You should get a dialog box titled "Network Diagnostics". The list of "locations" should have the name of your usual network setup highlighted in gray. All the network status signals down the left side will be red.
    Click on the "Continue" button in the dialog box.
    4. You should see a fresh Network Diagnostics box subtitled "Choose network port configuration"
    Click on the AirPort radio button.
    Then click on continue.
    5. The Network Diagnostics box should be refreshed. You should now see "Select AirPort network" as a subtitle, and one or more wireless network names listed.
    Click on your wireless network name (the one your AirPort knows).
    Click the Continue button.
    6. Type your password in the Password box in the next refresh. (No need for a $. Just your password.) (Don't bother checking the Remember password... box. It seems non-functional.)
    7. Click the Continue button.
    8. The Network Fairy awakens, makes all the status signals on the left green, turns on your wireless signal strength icon in the top bar, loads your Safari page, and leaves you with the message: "Your Internet connection appears to be working correctly."
    9. Beats me why the "other" WEP password entry process consistently fails.
    Fred

    I must have missed something the first time around with the G3....
    I changed the encryption to WPA/WPA2 Personal and all my Expresses AND my G3 iBooks all connect just fine. I still can't get my iPaq 2495b to connect however... It "sees" the router, but just wont connect. As I mentioned before, it does connect if unencrypted with no password, so the problem obviously lies with the password.
    The iPaq Authentication choices are: Open,Shared, WPA, and WPA-PSK. There is a second box for Data Encryption with choices of: WEP or TKIP.
    I have tried every combination, all to no avail. I have NOT tried stuff like inserting "$" signs, etc.
    Any ideas?

  • Free Java Development in IPAQ: My Experience...

    Hi all,
    I just finished testing my java application in a totally free platform, the only thing I payed for was my PDA.
    I have two PDAs here at my work, a HP Ipaq 3870 and an HP Ipaq 5500. The challenge was to be able to run Java applications and also to use Bluetooth.
    I started by searching the VM to use on my PDA.
    On the WinCE side I tried Creme (very good) and tried IBM J9 or WSDD like it is called now (good). With Creme 4.0 or J9 i was able to run applications until JDK1.3.1, the difference is the Creme 4.0 already supports swing and in J9 u need an external package.
    For Bluetooth i tried the avetana JSR82 stack with WIDCOMM driver for Bluetooth dongle, which was designed for CrEmE VM and I managed to setup connections using RFCOMM and SPP between my laptop and my PDA. On J9 i havent tried to setup bluetooth connections.
    This would do the trick, but since i am involved in a academic research project.... to pay for software is not really what we want to do. So the next step was to evaluate the Linux side on the PDA. I installed Familiar OS v0.8.1 (today they released Familiar v0.8.2) in my Ipaq 5500 and I started searching for VMs to install on Familiar.
    I found three VMs, BlackDown, SableVM and JamVM. JamVM i didnt tryed at all and BlackDown is not supported after Familiar V0.7.2, so i installed SableVM. It is hard to tell what JDK this VM implements. I sent some posts in the SableVM list and they told me that it has already some parts that is totally compatible with JDK1.3.1 and others are still being developed, like for example swing support. With SableVM i was able to run my JDK1.3.1 application with AWT, no swing was supported. Although seams like a valid platform for someone that wants to develop applications that use JDK1.3.1 and AWT for GUIs.
    So my next step was to validate BlackDown VM wich is JDK1.3.1 compatible and already supports swing. In order to do so I had to install Familiar v0.7.1 in my Ipaq HP 3870 (this because the H5500 hardware is only supported in Familiar 0.8 and BlackDown VM is not supported in this version of Familiar OS). The installation was easy and i was able to run, once again my JDK1.3.1 application this time with a Swing GUI. I was very pleased.
    As for Bluetooth in Familiar, well no problems because Familiar already cames with BlueZ stack which is more complete then JSR82. For example BlueZ stack already implements the PAN profile. There is also a JBlueZ that is a Java API that works on top of BlueZ. In my case, since i had the PAN profile in order to communicate with my Laptop I pared the two devices and used the PAN profile to establish a connection. This profile gives IP addresses to the two devices which allows to use normal Java Sockets to send and receive information over Bluetooth.
    So resuming.... With Familiar it is easy to setup a platform to use Java (until JDK1.3.1) using or awt or swing (depending on the ipaq you have) and use Bluetooth to communicate totally FREE. On the WinCE side you can do almost the same (i didnt found any bluetooth stack that implements PAN profile in Java) but u need to pay for the VM and for BT Stack.
    Now i am using on my Ipaq HP PocketPC 3870, Familiar v0.7.1 with BlackDown VM (JDK1.3.1 fully supported including swing) and BlueZ PAN Profile. On the Ipaq HP PocketPC 5500 you can use Familiar 0.8.1 with SableVM (JDK1.3.1 only AWT is supported) with BlueZ PAN Profile.
    Hope this helps someone, if someone has diferent experiences please share them!!!
    Cris

    Hello CrisBento.
    I have problems with iPAQ and Bluetooth JRS-82 API using avetana.
    You have wriiten:
    "For Bluetooth i tried the avetana JSR82 stack with WIDCOMM driver for Bluetooth dongle, which was designed for CrEmE VM and I managed to setup connections using RFCOMM and SPP between my laptop and my PDA."
    I am trying to develop a client/server application via Bluetooth. The server will be the PC running Windows 2000 SP5 or WIndows XP.
    The client will be an iPAQ H3970.
    I test two VMs. The Jeode Insignia and crEme 3.26 and also crEme 4.00(beta).
    Unfortunately, the avetana lib is running properly at my PC side( my USB Bluetooth Adapter is 1.4.12 Widcomm driver) but at the iPAQ side I receive the following exception:
    "Could not find own library avetanaBTCE. Will try from ld.library.path
    Exception occurred during event dispatching:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no avetanaBTCE in java.library.path
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibraryInternal()
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary()
    at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0()
    at java.lang.System.loadLibrary()"
    I received the above exception in all 3 VMs I used.
    It is very strange that you run properly the avetana JSR82 API to you iPAQ 3870, thus it is older than mines.
    I also tried in the main class of the programs I tested to include the following line:
    System.load("/Windows/AveatanaBT/src/avetanaBT.dll");
    //Include the absolute path of the dll
    or
    System.load("/Windows/avetanaBTCE.dll");I have got in touch with both crEme Support team and Avetana Support team.
    The most possible problem is that my Bluetooth Stack is very old.
    However, it is very strange that I read you have succeded to run the avetana API at iPAQ 3870.
    If you have some comments I really appreciate to tell me.
    Regards,
    kalgik
