HP Officejet 6100 e printer wont stop running

I have an officejet 6100 e printer.  This is not an all in one printer.  It worked fine for a few months.  Now it continues to run.
That is, the ink cartridges continue to cycle back and forth.  I am unable to print anything, because the cradle never stops runniing.  I have to unplug it or it will run forever.  I let it run for 1/2 hour to see if it would stop.  But it never did.
I have probably prited about 15 or 20 pages and had to buy new HP ink cartridges, so I hate to throw it away and waste 50 bucks worth or cartridges.
Any suggestions
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell laptop.
Thanks,
Ken

Sorry that you are having a problem with the printer.
See if you can unplug the USB cable from the back.
Hold down the (X) button and unplug the power cord from the back. Plug the power cord back in, while continuing to hold down the (X) red button.
Let me know if it stops.

  • Hp officejet 6100 default printing

I have an officejet 6100 on a wirless network with one computer using Windows 7 and the other stuck with Windows 8.1.  On the Windows 7 machine I can set the printing default from the Printer choice under Control Panel.   This is Black Ink Only/Draft, and the settings are retained.  The other machine is Windows 8.  When we set the Printer (under Control Panel) to the same setting as aboves, they revert back to a Grayscale Off/Normal settings.  This means that everything is printed in color and not draft unless we remember to change settings before printing. How do I get the settings from the Windows 8.1 machine to default to Black Ink Only/Draft?

On the Windows 8 machine do the following: from the control panel click on Devices and Printers.  Right click on the Officejet 6100 series and select Printing Preferences.  Click on the Paper/Quality tab and in Print Quality select Fast Draft, Apply.  Next click on the Color tab and check the Print in Grayscale and check the Black Print Cartridge Only selection, Apply.  At this time you can also make a new Print Task Quick Set, type something like Draft - Black Only, Save, OK. At this point the default should be draft with black only.  Note that some programs may keep their own defaults.

  • Can Officejet 6100 wireless print without network?

We just purchased a Officejet 6100 to use in a vehicle for commercial vehicle enforcement. We would like to use it to print wirelessly directly from a laptop without a network or cable. Is this possible with this printer? If not do you have a suggestion before I rip it out of the box? Our hopes it that it would connect with the laptop wirelessly and give the ability to print.

    Win XPpro

It appears from the manual that this is not a wireless printer.

  • Just updated to 10.7.2 and the fan on my 2011 mba wont stop running.

I updated my 2011 Macbook Air to 10.7.2, and now the machine is really hot and the fan won't stop running. Any idea how I can make this stop?

There is likely a program or process that is taking up most of the CPU.  If you open Activity Monitor and sort by the % CPU column that will tell you which process it is.  If its a program that don't need then you can simple quit it. If its something you don't recognize or something that you need to have running then report back and then the next course of action can be figured out.
I had this problem with the Dock.  Deleting the dock preference file then restarting the Dock process addressed it. Your situation may be different.

  • Printer wont stop

I cannot get my printer to stop printing.  I have done cancel printing several time and nothing happens.  there is nothing in the print cue.  I installed a new driver from the HP web site and it said that it installed correctly.  I even told it to print a test page but when I tried to print it, whatever was in the printers memory continued to print and the test page never printed.  I have unplugged it and replugged it.  It just keeps printing a line of symbols on each page.
    Helpl!!!
    Thanks.

First of all - what printer?  Second - what OS?  Third - Have your tried leaving it disconnected from the computer and powering it on - can you print an internal test page such as a config or demo page without it continuously printing?  If the printer does internal test pages just fine then I can give you suggestions based on your OS on how to stop it from continuously printing.  If it does the garbage printing with no direct connection to the computer then it's a printer issue and we can work with that.

  • Emac Fan wont stop running

How do I get my emac fan to stop running? Computer is working fine, but fan is on constantly and the noise is driving me crazy.....

The eMac doesn't have temperature-based fan control like notebook computers. It's designed to run all the time unless you put it to sleep. Our eMacs have served next to my G4 tower; the tower mostly masks the noise from the eMac.
The third-party fan control utilities I found on VersionTracker list nothing for a G4. The oldest processor they support is a G5. Maybe someone else has another source.
With a large CRT monitor plus all the other heat-producing computer parts sharing the same case, I would be reluctant to do anything to slow the fans on either eMac we have.

  • ZenWorks Add-on wont stop running

I read a bunch of threads that talk about not getting add-on images to
work. I need to get them to stop working. I created an image that
automaticly logs in as local admin on the first few boots. This works
great as I found if you log into eDir applications may or may not run based
on other applications assigned to that user. When I log in as local admin
(workstation only) all add-on images run great. The problem is that they
continue to run as most users who log in as well. These applications are
installs (like GroupWise) and tend to casue problems when installed over
    themsleves over and over.
So the computer images with add-on images
Reboots as local admin and installs applications
First User logs in (all add-on's re-run and casue posible errors and a reboot)
First User logs in again (no problmes)
Second User logs in (all add-on's re-run and casue posible errors and a reboot)
and so on and so forth. The applications are not assigned to anything at
all and are set as Force run when I made the add-on image. They are also
now set to Run Once (that has not made any changes)
Running ZenWorks 6.5 and will be using 7.0 after a few pressing projects
are done in a few weeks.
    Thanks
    Nathan

    Hi Om,
As said by Peter put the addon in mandatory and in the application event if the add on is stopped try stopping the SAP Bsuiness One.exe thread. SO that ur B1 application will close.

  • Help, my mbp crashed disk utility wont stop running

A couple of days ago, I was using firefox, google earth, and vuze.  I was trying to close some stuff down as my mac was slowing down pretty bad.  She locked up, couldn't force quit... persisted, shut down with the off button.  After that it wouldn't beboot, and I had a dark gray screen with spinning wheel.  I couldn't boot into safe mode, so I went to the disk utility it ran for many hours, and did nothing. It found errors, but did not progress in fixing them... Just said estimated time 1 minute.
    Any ideas?
    It's a mid 2009 intel 2.66ghz, I believe.

What is the SMART status of your hard drive? If it's "Failing," just replace the drive immediately. It will be much easier for you to try to recover data from it when your MBP is back up and running properly again. You'll need an external enclosure or a SATA-to-USB adapter and a downloaded copy of Data Rescue 3 or FileSalvage, both of which offer free demo versions that show exactly what the full purchased version would be able to recover.
    Data Rescue 3: http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
    FileSalvage 7: http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id= 1
There is no guarantee that you'll be able to recover any or all of your data if the drive has suffered a mechanical or electronic failure.

  • Fan wont stop running

I updated to Mac OS X 10.4.9 this morning and the fan in my IMac has been running constantly. Is there anyway to turn it off and/or why is this happening?

    Hi croth75!
No, you wouldn't want to shut down any fan. They're built to run to meet the demands of the system. There may be some temporary conflict of instructions within the system causing the fans to run at unusual speeds. The best way to resolve this conflict is to perform a reset or two that should re-synchronize the controllers within the system.
The first thing I would do is restart the iMac. The second thing I would do is shut down, let it sit a minute, then startup the iMac.
If the fan is still the only thing bugging you - check the System Profiler's listing of the "Boot ROM Version" and the "SMC Version" against the Firmware Update's Read-Me to verify that your Core Duo iMac's firmware and SMC firmware are up-to-date, or if you have a Core 2 Duo, you only need to check the firmware. If necessary, update the firmware or the SMC firmware (one at a time). http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303903
Once it's up-to-date, reset the SMC by following these instructions: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446
Since it's an absolutely no-risk procedure, it may be repeated several times until one feels certain they've done all they can with that possible solution.
If it's then necessary to find another solution, try a single PRAM reset. It's NOT something you would do every day - but to reset the PRAM:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following four keys on the keyboard: Command (Apple logo), option, P, and R. You will need to hold these four keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Start up the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-option-P-R keys. You should press this key combination immediately after the startup chord sounds, and certainly before the gray screen's Apple logo appears.
    5. Hold all four keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chord for the second time. The PRAM reset will reset your sound level preference to the mid-point, so the second time may well sound more or less loud than the first.
    6. Release the keys.
Also probably reset will be Startup Disk in System Preferences.

  • Printer wont stop feeding blank pages

Installed Tiger on G4 Powerbook. HP Photosmart will not print, will just feed blank pages through the printer. Reloaded printer drivers with no success. Any ideas?? Thanks

I was using 10.4.11 and some things were working ok, just wouldn't do faxes correctly. Amongst other quirks I did an archive reinstall and went back to using 10.4.10. My epson printer is doing this very same thing as yours. I have tried uninstalling all and reinstalling all, nothing has changed. Good luck with you

  • 690 fan wont stop running

So my dino 690 has a stuck fan for years. I have finally decided to address the problem. Any quick fixes here? Dont like to spend a lot of money.

Stuck on or off. In both cases the easy answer is to replace the fan. Some Dells have the temperature sensor for fan control located on the fan itself.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer auto document feeder stopped working

HP Officejet Pro L7590 (Model: CB822A)
    Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10
My automatic document feeder stopped working about a month or two ago. If I put a bunch of papers under the tray there is no beep/light to acknowledge that. So, I can't copy a bunch of papers at once.
Is there a recommended HP repair center/store in my area that can fix it? I'm in Bethesda, MD 20817.
    Thanks

    Hi @rustyblue
    Although HP does not have an authorizes repair facility that I can refer you to, I have located 2 helpful documents that would allow you to troubleshoot the issue yourself;
An 'Original Jam: Clear jam, and then press OK' Message Displays for HP Officejet 6100, 7100, and D ...

If the issue persists, you can take the printer to a local mom and pop shop, or maybe call HP. HP could offer you a discount on a newer model.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.

  • HP officejet 100 Mobile Printer Stops in Mid Print

This printer worked fine (NO problems with Bluetooth even) for the first couple of months and several changes in print cartridges. For the last year, every time I print a document, it will either stop printing on the second or third document or stop in the middle of the first document, and all the indicator lights come on telling me I need to clean cartridges, etc. Every time is different. Some times it is one indicator error light, the next print job may trigger all the lights. Every print job I execute and it fails, I have to remove the battery, re-insert the battery and print again. It works every time after I reprint the job after removing the battery. The next document triggers errors again and it will not print. I do not have a warranty, but I am ready to throw it in the garbage! What can I do? I am running on a Mac Osx system. Please help. Thank you!

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @IdahoElk
I read your post about the printer issues you're having with your Officejet 100 Mobile printer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help you.
First of all, power reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Also, check out this troubleshooting document. Check the issues to see if you can find the description to what you are seeing on your printer.

If the troubleshooting does not help at all, I would lastly suggest technical support.
