HP Pavilion dm4t 1000 - wd471av Windows 7 64-bit Upgrading VGA card

can i upgrade VGA removable card for HP Pavilion dm4t 1000 ?

T2, you don't mention how much system memory that you have installed.  Windows 7 will run best with 3GB of memory.  Also, integrated memory is always lacking in any games.  The 128MB is not allocated at one time.  It is only used as needed.  If you want to play games, you should upgrade your memory and upgrade to a standalone video card.  I don't believe that a driver update will make any difference.

  • My Pavilion DMT-1000 shuts down immediately when it starts to boot up.

HP Paviliion DM4T-1000 running Windows 7 shuts down as soon as it starts to boot up.  It passes the startup tests, but it shuts down after about an hour doing the hard disk test.  It also shuts down from the boot menu after about an hour. The fan is running full speed at all times and the airflow is perfectly good.  I have tried reinitiating the BIOS by removing the internal battery and doing a hard reboot.  I have tried booting off of a CD and using the F11. Everything results in immediate shut down. Should the fan be running full speed immdediately?  How can I tell if the BIOS thinks the temperature is too high?  Is there a test point to monitor?  What else can cause a failure to boot?

With the limited information you have provided, look at this comprehensive troubleshooting document:

  • Pavilion DV9008NR BIOS problem Windows 8 32-bit

I have an older Pavilion DV9008NR notebook:
    RAM - 2 GB RAM
    CPU - Athlon Turion 64 x2 1.6 GHz TL-50
    Motherboard - Quanta 30B9
    Chipset - NVDIA GeForce 6150
Southbridge - NVIDIA NForce 410/430 MCP
    BIOS HP F.43 3/22/2010
Nvidia GPU - GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)  (display adapter MS Bsic Disply Adapter C52 A.2
This was previously loaded with WinXP SP3 and slipstreamed with nLite 1.42 to load SATA drivers.  It had previously had the BIOS flashed to F.43 (latest version).
It was "clean" upgraded with Windows 8 Pro Upgrade after passing all tests.
Upon rebooting, I got the  standard HP/Phoenix BIOS screen with the usual prompts for <F10> BIOS Setup and <Esc> Boot Order.
Every time after that, the <F10> and <Esc> prompts are gone, and Win8 loads *faster* than usual.
Win 8 functionality appears fine, and the need Ricoh 5-in-1 and NVIDIA coprocesser drivers loaded without difficulty.
I went back to my old WinXP image, and BIOS loaded several times normally with <F10> and <Esc> prompts.
After reloading Win8, back to problem of no prompts after first reboot.
Trying <F10> or <Esc> during the BIOS load does *not* get you into BIOS Setup or Boot Order.
It appears that somewhere that Win8 is "pre-empting" the normal "flow" of the BIOS.
I do understand that Win8 does have some feature to take control to keep  Boot Sector malware from taking control.
Is this what is happening?  (Which becomes a real problem with <F10> and <Esc> maybe needed),
Is this a BIOS bug, or
    Is there something else.
    Thanks~

I'm sorry but this was very difficult to read. If I understand you are having an issue installing Windows 8 32-bit. Is this right?
If so this is not supported as per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5628. Specifically: "If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp."

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand you are having issues using your Blu-Ray Player on your HP Pavilion Elite e9140f running Windows Vista. I am going to approach this from a couple different directions.
First, we are going to try to put back the original drivers that came with your computer using the HP Support document: Performing a Software Application or Driver Recovery (Windows Vista), which will walk you though using the HP Recovery Manager to restore the original drivers on your computer.
Second, if you are still not able to use the Blu-Ray Player we are going to try using the HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows Vista), which we will use to roll your system back to a point in time where your Blu-Ray player worked. This will not affect your personal files, but it will affect any applications you have installed between now and the date you choose and any settings you have changed during the same time.  These will have to be re-installed and/or re-changed.
Lastly, if you are still not able to install the software or are still not able to use your Blu-Ray Player I am going to suggest you back up any personal files, bookmarks and such to a USB drive or something and then follow the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows Vista), which will walk you through recoverying your computer back to factory settings.
***NOTE: Be warned you will loose everything so ensure you backup what you want to keep!
If none of the above work and your still having issues it appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options.

  • Hp pavilion tx2110us drivers for windows 7

    hello,
i have a hp pavilion tx2110us entertainment notebook (tablet). i recently upgraded from vista home to windows ultimate. i have a few issues with this. i would be very happy if someone could help me here.
    1. the tablet buttons (on the side of the scree dont work), just the settings one works...the rotate, the dvd one dont! i had installed some driver seeing the forum but it only solved a part of the problem. i.e. the settings button for tablet. can i find the drivers for it somewhere??
    2. there is no fingerprint recognition  any more. though its not a big problem but i feel i am not getting what i paid for...;-)
    3. the images when opened in fax viewer or anyother prog seem stretched. i tried to set the screen resolution but it shows on the highest. my driver should be nvidia but currently it is standard vga. where can i find the driver for this....it is not on the hp site....i have a 32 bit os.
    4. even the software updates avalaible on hp site dont work some how. i even tried the vista ones but it says it cant load them as i have windows 7.
    thank you.

i dont have an active connection on my laptop. as in i cant be on net for too long to get windows updates. is there a way to download the display driver other than updating my drivers from the internet?
So we will install network drivers to solve this problem.
Install as first driver for chipset / lan card:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset/Network here
After installtion of this driver You need to restart your system. This is very important.
    Driver for wireless card:
    Broadcom wireless here
Both this drivers are normally on your support page for Vista system, but they will work great under Windows 7 too.
Only If for some reason wireless driver will not work great then uninstall it first and install latest version released by HP:
Broadcom Wireless here (ver 5.60.48.35  for 32/64 bit Win7)
    Resource:
    Uninstalling Software in Windows 7
Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7
Most of Vista drivers should work under Windows 7. You may find all of them here.
When normal installation will fail, then try to run unsuccessfully installed file in Compatibility Mode (Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2).
    Resources:
Make older programs run in this version of Windows
How to Run a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7
If even this will fail then use Windows Update as I said before and install drivers from optional section.
I don't have much knowledge about tablets, but according to other post on this board Wacom Digitizer Driver solves problem with rotation.
This answer was wrong. According to this topic solution on problem with rotation is installation of HP Quick Launch Buttons and Graphic driver.
    Important informations!
You've got nVidia graphic card and AMD processor. Because of that You should check temperature of your GPU.
If it's high then You should install driver for graphic card from Windows Update as fast as it's possible.
How You may check Your notebook CPU (processor), GPU (graphic card), motherboard or HDD temperature?
To do that use HWMonitor (free and recommended).
    PS.
If You will still have any problems then let me know about it.
I will try to help You.

  • Have to regularly restart DHCP Client - HP Pavilion 500-205 DT - Windows 7

    HP Pavilion 500-205 DT - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller - Driver 7.67.1226.2012
Bought 3 identical machines for our childcare center. Set them up the same. All work fine except ONE of them becomes inaccessible periodically (daily more-or-less) to the other Windows computers on our little peer-to-peer LAN. You can see it, but cannot access any shared folder. There is NO problem accessing the OTHER computers on the LAN from this one. All 3 machines have the same sharing profile, workgroup, permissions, AV, firewall settings, everything. I realized restarting the computer in question solved the problem immediately but temporarily. I narrowed it down to restarting the DHCP Client service. Do that, everything works fine immediately but temporarily.
    Things I tried:
Calling HP support - not helpful at all. It is under warranty.
    Disabled IPv6
    Disabled wireless
Disabled power-saving shutoff of network adapter
    Setting DHCP CLIENT recovery to:
First Failure = Restart the the Service
Second Failure = Restart the the Service
Subsequent Failures = Restart the the Service
Reset Fail count After = 120
     Restart Service after = 0
But again, this isn't happening to the other machines with default settings. Nothing works except restarting the DHCP Client service. The loss of access happens with or without someone logged or using it. It has happened since it was first set up.
I don't know if the HP warranty covers factory-loaded OS. I don't want to restore the thing and start over. I am not an IT professional, just the guy in the office who does these things, but it seems like the network adapter could be defective. I don't know if I can convince a first-level phone support person to have me bring the machine to an authorized service place.
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Larry

    View Solution.

    You're very welcome.
I would tend to agree, but I wanted to offer you that driver as a last resort.
This is a consumer to consumer forum.  I don't work for HP, and if you suspect it is a hardware issue, you will need to contact HP technical support and submit a support case under the warranty.
The warranty covers hardware, and support for the HP software and operating system installed (as long as it is the original factory image that came with the PC and not an operating system you installed).

  • Pavilion tx 1000 will not boot up

I was using my pavilion tx 1000 a few months ago and the screen suddenly started to fade to full white and this happened. My notebook will not boot up after powering on. The lights come on except for the wifi and mute button indicators. The fan starts and then stops after a few seconds. The screen remains blank. I took it to a family friend who changed my motherboard and it's been working for about a few weeks. The screen faded again like the first time two weeks ago but I left the computer alone and tried to turn it on again and it magically worked. Just today I tried to turn it on after what seemed to be normal use without any problems and the same boot up problems occurred. Does anyone have a solution or at least an explanation? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem.  I finally got my HP tx 1220us to  boot at power up and also start automatically after reboot. All without replacing the motherboard.  It's been nearly two days now and the computer has been booting up without a problem.
I do not know what cleared up the problem.  I did try all of the solutions offered on the net such as:
    1. Removing the Norton Antivirus
    2. checking connection for ram, hard drive etc.
    3. Stopped the sleep/hibernation mode.
Nothing worked.  HP suggested that I replace the motherboard at cost of $399. I could not accept this simple and easy solution, not yet.  Not until, someone could tell me which part of the motherboard was bad or at least get me the error codes from POST.
I found out that one can buy for under $9, a simple display unit, which would tell you the POST error code and what the error was in the POST operations. However, this unit works only if you have a PCI slot or USB and Parallel printer port.  The Tx1220 does not have the PCI slot or the parallel printer port. Technically, one can buy a parallel to USB adapter for under $20.
I checked with Geek Squad.  They wanted $70 to run tests on the motherboard.  So I decided to do something else for a change.
    I took the following steps:
First, I restored the Operating System as soon as I got the notebook to boot up.  The computer started booting up at first try and even restarted after Windows restarted the computer.
Second, I also replaced the Norton Internet Security 60-day subscription installed automatically by HP by default to plain Symantec antivirus.
(Note- Windows does not do a clean uninstall of NOrton Internet Security or the Antivirus program.  You will need the Norton removal tool from Symantec to do a better job.)
Also, I later removed the symantec antivirus program and replaced with the free AVG program.
Third, I disabled CLCApssvc.  (I believe this program controls the webcam- not sure what else it does.  You will see this program listed in the error message -windows event viewer).
Fourth, I also changed the screen resolution to low/medium settings,
Fifth, I stopped the sleep and hibernation mode in the power settings.
I do not know what or which of the above actions actually cleared up the problem.  It is a mystery.
I strongly believe that this is not a hardware problem rather a software problem.  Something happens in between after POST completes its process and the OS takes over.  I might be wrong but, either SAV or CLcapsvcs leave behind a conflicting set of instructions, which stops the boot up process to Windows.

    Hi:
If you want to find out if your PC will run Windows 7, please download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It will let you know if your PC can run Windows 7 and if anything needs to be done to correct any issues the advisor finds:
    Link is below:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx
According to the specs on your PC, it appears you can run Windows Vista 32 or 64 bit so you should be able to run Windows 7 32 or 64 bit.

You need a minumum of 2 GB of memory for W7x64.  1 GB of memory for W7 32 Bit.
As to what version you should install, I'll leave that up to you.
